Chapter 7
After thirteen hours of wrestling Emma in his room Harry finally managed to get her to calm down and head towards the training halls with him.
They had managed to confirm that both of them were okay and in one piece until they were satisfied with what they found.
As they entered the training hall many heads turned and once they saw who it was the sound of laughter could be heard through out the hall. All knew what had kept their lord from the training halls and seeing him arrive with his war mount just solidified it.
Harry merely shook his head and pointedly looked towards Emma though his eyes held no real heat in them or reproach.
Emma continued trotting forward as if she hadn't seen Harry's look or heard the sounds of the others in the room laughing.
Again Harry shook his head and turned back to the hall and looked around seeing where he wanted to start his training. That's when he noticed a large congregation of guardsmen at the back of the hall surrounding something and seemingly cheering it on.
His curiosity piqued he moved towards the scene and as he got closer he saw what had captured the groups attention and lead to the cheering.
Even after the millennia he spent with all these soldiers and warriors he could never have met all the different factions or groups.
The guardsmen he saw was one he had never seen before facing and standard Cadian guardsmen. But this guardsmen was dressed in different and even by the imperium's standards strange colors that should have seen him executed.
It was a plum color with burnished gold accents on his pants and boots, his muscle shirt was a darkened plum due to sweat and blood but not from the soldier.
The Cadian wore the standard green and tan of Cadia but also had a muscle shirt instead of the standard blouse all guardsmen wore.
The Cadian was heavily bruised and bleeding and looked to be ready to fall over from a stiff breeze while the unknown soldier only dropped sweat and the blood of his opponent. Most of the crowd was cheering for the Cadian but closer to the wall more soldiers dressed as the unknown soldier.
But they weren't cheering, in fact they made not a single sound and simply stood and watched the match simply waiting for it to end.
Suddenly the silent soldier moved forward and lashed out with his hands shaped like a claw and slashed it across the Cadians face.
He left another wound from the right side of the Cadians face to his left spinning him around and leading him to fall over unconscious. The crowd groaned and cheered and money started to exchange hands upon the fall of the Cadian but the unknown soldier moved towards his comrades.
Seemingly without concern nor care for his opponents well being the silent soldier moved away surrounded by his comrades.
Harry followed them with his eyes while staying with the crowd making mental notes about their appearance and uniform for later.
"Damn those chaos worshiping heretics and their damn powers, without it they would never have stood a chance against a Cadian."
A nearby soldier began to miner to his peers without realizing that Harry could hear him or what his buddy said next.
"Yeah if only we could figure out how those mute bastards kept the inquisitors from finding it."
Harry walked away from the crowd and decided to leave the training hall entirely, he needed to talk to Horus.
Meanwhile
Horus was busy checking the reports of the different regiments he wasn't familiar with to see what new tactics could be applied. One of the first he came across was the grinning moon regiment from the planet Cressida whose moon the regiment was named after.
Before he was brought to this time the imperium had never come across this planet nor its people but at some point they must have otherwise they would not be here.
Apparently their planet's atmosphere traps warp storms inside it so when the imperium was separated by the warp storms and he and his brothers were stolen.
The planet had been surrounded by one and something in it caused it to enter reality leading to a massive change in the people and the ecosystem. In fact they where affected so badly that they are now unable to speak for fear of what their words may cause since their voice was imbued with warp energy.
Which they now produced naturally, they also had fangs instead of normal teeth that are similar to a sharks and pointed slightly inward but sized for a human.
Their hands had claws that are sharp enough to pierce flak armor and render flesh, though they need constant maintenance.
Their feet also had pads which made them more silent and durable enough to walk on any terrain with little difficulty. Horus thought these soldiers could be most useful as long as they where kept from the other regiments due to their belief they where worshippers of chaos.
If any of the other regiments had even bothered to read the data slates of the regiment they would see that they would never turn to such power.
Their home being trapped in the warp as it was they came to loath the creatures of the warp so much that they could hunt down daemons from the other side of a planet.
In fact Horus knew that they could be very useful to the imperium with their abilities even if the others beloved them to be Chaos. But as long as they continued to hunt down the daemons the way they do after all their uniforms where stained so deeply with the blood of daemon filth that it was that color permanently.
But as Horus thought about this regiment and its strategic value it brought up another more personal thought. That of his young lords training and safety when he leaves for the supposed school of wizardry that the ancient terrains called magic.
While he may have been here when magic and psykers made the time dilation sphere that was used in their training facilities.
But in the eyes of them all it was just a different form of warp manipulation then what they used due to lost techniques.
The major drawback to these spheres was that whatever training was done in them was not permanently kept once they left.
Yes they could use their true form during moments of high stress or danger due to warp manipulation reverting them to their real form. But once that was over they turn into the form of what they are (supposed) to be but that was of little concern.
What truly concerned Horus was that the augmentation they had done to their lord my have adverse affects while in a civilian setting.
After all the only thing they hadn't done to him was gift him with a geneseed from one of his brothers or himself.
But everything else had been given to him, making him a force to fear and recognize by all who came into contact with him. Which could then possibly lead to him being put under unnecessary scrutiny and lead to questions no one would want asked.
But unless he was willing to overthrow the entire government and waste time and resources to absorb the society it would not be quiet.
Then that could lead to a possible need to quell all of Terra and her people which would not fit in the history texts that had been salvaged.
So all they could do was rely on the forces they could get into the school and always have some fire teams on stand by just incase. After all nothing is ever guaranteed in this universe they live in, they just have to try and make their own way.
A buzzing sound came in through the speaker of his communicator signifying that some one wished to enter.
Horus knew only a few people had his communicator frequency so he knew he could let them into his quarters without fear of it being time wasting.
Sending a responding buzz his door opened and the young lord his thoughts where on entered his quarters with a look of anger and thoughtfulness.
"Greetings young lord what brings you to my quarters at this time and what has you so angered?"
The empathy in Horus's voice calms Harry slightly before he takes a deep breath and calms his burning anger. He turns to Horus with a strong determination to try and make this plan work even if the War Master disagrees on its strategic feasibility.
"What do you know of the guardsmen who wear purple and gold and have a smiling moon as their planets symbol?"
Horus was surprised for a fraction of a second and then began to chuckle but then it became a full belly laugh.
Harry was shocked at the reaction to his question and a little insulted that he was having Horus laugh at what he thought was rather serious.
"I am sorry my young lord but your question comes after I had just been making a review of the guardsmen and had just finished looking at said groups data slate."
This mollifies Harry's anger but also leads him to chuckle once he realizes the humor of the sentence.
Still chuckling Horus decides to respond to his lords question.
"But to answer yes I know of them my lord why do you ask?"
Harry seems to straighten a little more and becomes serious.
"I wish for permission to make that group my main force for any mission I am apart of."
Sorry to end the chapter there but I think that it was a good spot, hope you guys don't mind the made up guardsmen regiment. I just felt that we had seen a lot of the sisters and the space marines but not enough of the guardsmen. Anyway hope you all enjoyed that chapter please leave a comment and review they are greatly appreciated hope you have a great day.
