Chapter 9
Harry breathed in the oxygen rich air and looked out over the land scape of his new home planet and couldn't help but let a savage grin creep across his face.
Ever since he got here he thought it would be an easy world to conquer and bring into the imperium, yet what he found was a death world similar to Catachan. While it has yet to meet its fate of being perpetually assaulted by the warp.
It was still a completely hostile and inhospitable place to live for any normal human to survive and try to build a colony let alone a city.
If it wasn't some animal from Terras ancient history supersized, it was some monster from their ancient legends and lore.
Creatures such as sabertooth cats and great mastodons still roamed this planet in large herds or prides and took great pleasure in killing humans and destroying their settlements.
Then came the Cerberus and manticores that loved to hunt and torture their prey before devouring them alive after they grew bored of its entertainment value. This has nothing on the plants that thrived here, often enough the so aptly named strangling vines could be found strangling soldiers who weren't paying attention.
It would wrap around their necks and drag them into the woods to be later digested once they died from asphyxiation.
The impaling trees who's branches grew pointing downwards and could be launched by the tree to impale a target two hundred yards away like a harpoon gun, these bodies would then be dragged back to the tree and placed in the trunk with the branch still in them until the had been fully digested.
This was the planet he was expected to make his home and he loved it with all his heart for its pure untamed savagery. The fact everyday here meant the soldiers and civilians who would live here would become stronger faster and would eliminate those unfit to serve the imperium.
From what he had been told the mortality was rather low on the soldiers and civilian side of things.
After all the inhabitants of this planet were used to a much harsher environment thanks to the taint of the warp being trapped in this planet's atmosphere and given a psychical connection to reality.
Fighting a few animals and plants in comparison to the endless tireless forces of the warp has made this child's play but no less exhilarating for Harry and his troops.
His troops had also come to fully respect him as he has lead them through the retaking of their home world using the tactics and skills they had gained from living on this planet to capitalize on and leading them not from his command tent but on the fields of battle where they fought the very planets bio system to the death.
The civilians constantly asked if a space marine chapter would be made on their home world and what it's name would be and if he would be it's Primarch?
Harry had no answer for these questions for as soon as these questions came he was already boarding a ship back to Terra to head to Hogwarts despite his misgivings about learning these less powerful abilities.
But even he had to admit that while they carried little power they did help with control and the understanding of how to recognize when something is going wrong with an ability.
So at least he would gain something out of it even if he must give up this glorious world and the thrills of its savage heart singing to him. But he wasn't the only one who would miss this world either.
Emma had truly loved showing the animals of this planet just who was at the top of the food chain and why all should bow before her might. Though why the silly prey food tried to eat her she didn't care it was an insult to her pride that it thought so highly of itself.
But know her and her youngling has to return to that small and rather weak planet where she had been left on the ship. But now none would dare to separate her from her pup lest they wish to feel her teeth, fangs, and claws.
As Harry entered the ship six figures just as tall as him feel into formation around him, these where one of the forces that wasn't originally present when he started to retake their home.
These soldiers were simply called the exulted, standing on average at eight and a half feet these soldiers were close to the strength of normal Ogryn. They also had the speed, senses, and durability of beastmen though they looked completely human unlike their abhuman brethren.
Sitting in the pilots seat was another one of the forces not originally with him on the taking of the planet.
These were called insectus for the large compound eyes they had and the multiple limbs that aloud them to handle the complexity of flying some of the imperiums ships with less bodies needed.
The short trip up to the ship that would take him back to Terra allowed him to see one of the other forces that he didn't have when taking back their home.
They called them sagerians, their ulower halves where that of an animal from horses, deer, and zebras to lions, panthers, and bears. Granting their human upper half greater strength then your average human, unlike most of their people though their predominantly used to carry messages or important packages.
If they ever get called to fight they were used to break lines of enemies as simple Calvary due to their size and strength.
Or they could be used to sneak behind enemy lines since they would have an easier time through some of the terrain these battles where held on were rough to navigate let alone travel. As Harry enters the the hanger bay the entire ship announces his presence leading to him having a few hundred eyes stare at him.
After returning the salute he begins to move towards the bridge in order to talk to the navigator and insure that his arrival will be on time for his ride to Hogwarts.
On his way there he is joined by his commanders and his servitor that he had left due to it being a liability on the planet rather than a help.
As he travels to the bridge his commanders tell him of the progress not only on their home planet but on all the fronts that his soldiers where on at the moment. He was impressed at the amount of ground they had managed to cover with the resources and overall manpower they had.
But they had yet to come in contact with any Xenos or chaos but Harry knew it was only a matter of time before they had to confront these enemies.
He soon enough entered the bridge and found not only the captain and navigator but the leader for the contingent of Adeptus Mechanicus that had been placed with his forces.
After all the last two units of his forces used to be apart of them before the warp affected them leading to why they weren't on this planet when others could use them more effectively. As Harry came closer he heard the navigator saying that if they leave soon then they would get to Terra sooner then planned and the Adeptus Mechanicus agreed stating the machine spirit was most appeased with this plan.
Harry quickly lets his presence be known. "The far be it from me to delay it then, captain let us depart from our home immediately lest we waste this opportunity given to us."
The large compound eyes don't even move from where they are facing. "Aye my Lord Potter we depart immediately." And with a nod of his head the captain begins barking orders at his crew the navigator turns to return to their station and the ad mech begins to leave but Harry gains their attention.
"Tech priest I wish to ask about the forces of the grinning moon that are under command of the Adeptus Mechanicus and if they are to be redeployed to a new front."
The tech priest nods and leads Harry to a room with a display table allowing him to see the battle as the forces report them.
The tech priest pulls up a section of space depicting a lush garden world that seems almost like paradise. "This world has had the forces of the grinning moons Adeptus Mechanicus on it for thirty lunar cycles and is preparing to see their departure."
The droning tone of the box that had replaced the tech priests voice box buzzed in Harry's ears, the tech priest moves the map farther away to a new planet that looks like a barren desert.
"This planet will be their next deployment zone where the units designated Voreans have managed to continue their duties to the Omnissiah. The units designated Rheains have managed to enhance their duties and dedication to the Omnissiah."
Harry nods at this and motions that he is done with the tech priest who bows to him before departing, Harry hoped that going to this school would be more then worth it.
