Chapter 12
Harry waited about forty minutes before he saw the bushy head of hair that he knew belonged to his friend, come rushing down the parks path at a break neck pace with her growlithe Lucia trotting behind her dutifully.
Harry waved to get her attention, and like a homing missile, she locked on to him and with in seconds was in front of him and bombarding him with questions which she didn't stop to let him answer.
"Harry, what did you mean when you said you helped him from a bad relationship, what type of Pokémon is it, do you have his ball, where did you get him from, is it a he or she, how long has it been in that relationship, how did you get them from their previous owner?"
Harry finally put a hand up and Hermione halted her barrage of questions and started blushing as she realized how she hadn't even given him a chance to talk and explain things.
"To answer the questions you have already asked, this little guy was my cousin's Pokémon, he bet him in a battle where the loser gave up all their Pokémon, he had been in that relationship for a few years, my cousin would constantly belittle and physically punish the little guy for things that weren't its fault, here's his PokeBall, it's all yours."
Harry handed over the standard PokeBall which once Hermione had she quickly let the Jangmo-o out and took a good look at him.
The Jangmo-o stared up at Hermione with a small glint of hope in his eyes, waiting to see what his new master would do.
Hermione looked over the Jangmo-o and saw multiple scars and old wounds that hadn't been properly treated, along with how small and skinny the poor thing was she felt her heart ache.
Going onto her knees, Hermione offered a gentle smile and opened her arms out in a hug waiting for the Jangmo-o to come to her. Slowly and with no small amount of trepidation, the Jangmo-o moved towards Hermione before shuffling into her lap and resting his head on her chest.
Hermione wraps her arms around the Jangmo-o and tries to convey her kindness and wish to help the Jangmo-o as not just his trainer, but as his friend.
Snuggling into his new trainer, Jangmo-o let's a few tears fall from his eyes vowing that he would do every thing he could to see his new trainer happy and safe, just as she has made him.
Harry off to the side watches with Ria, John, and Salazar, unable to help smiling at the touching moment along with John nuzzling his side in memory of an almost similar event once Harry had received Johns PokeBall. After a few minutes the touching moment was finally over but Hermione didn't put the Jangmo-o down and simply carried him in her arms.
Lucia standing to her side panting in happiness as her tail wagged furiously, Hermione moves over to Harry and gives him a one armed hug that almost makes him feel like his ribs might break.
"Thank you for bringing this little guy to me, I don't know what our future will be like, but I know that I will do my best to make sure he has the best life I can give him."
Harry simply smiles back at her and says nothing, just motioning to one of the benches nearby and taking a seat with the new pair and waiting for Hermione to get her thoughts in order. As she was doing that, Harry couldn't help but notice a strange site on the horizon, a pair of Noctowl carrying something between them, heading toward their bench.
As the pair got closer, Harry got up from the bench and moved closer to them, both Ria and John following behind him, watching as they came in for a landing being gentle with the package that was between them, it almost looked like a cage.
As Harry got closer, the Noctowls never looked away from him, once he was close enough, Harry noticed that there was a tag with his name on it.
Once Harry got close enough the two Noctowls had a strange glow surround their heads, making Ria and John tense up, as Salazar tightens around Harry's neck. But nothing came of it, the glow stopped and without even a backward glance, the two Noctowls turn and fly away, leaving the covered cage where it was.
By this time Hermione had joined up with Harry and was looking at the Covered cage with a curious look and walked around it, Lucia following behind her and the Jangmo-o looking at the cage from his perch in Hermiones arms.
"Where you expecting anything today Harry?"
The look on his face was enough of an answer, so Hermione went back to examining the cage, but since it was covered, she couldn't tell very much.
Ria moved to the cage and removed the cover, inside was a bright white with black accents hoothoot, it stared out at everyone until it spotted Harry and simply continued to stare.
After the covered had been removed, Hermione saw a letter attached to the cage addressed to Harry, she pulled it off and turned to hand it to him but saw that he and the hoothoot where in some sort of staring contest. She cleared her throat to get his attention but Harry didn't even react, Hermione tried again but the same result, so Hermione simply waited with the other Pokémon and watched the strange contest.
After a solid minute, the hoothoot bobbed and switched legs before a light appeared around its head and around the latch to the cage, it unlocked and the hoothoot flutters out and lands on the outstretched arm Harry put out for it.
Harry started scratching lightly at the hoothoots plumage before he turned to look at Hermione, Hermione simply shows him the letter before moving over to hand it to him.
Harry takes the letter and with one hand opens it and begins to read, his eyebrows quickly raise as he reads it before he has a small smile on his face and he folds up the letter and puts it in his jacket pocket. Hermione is practically bouncing and almost causing Jangmo-o to fall from his little perch, but he doesn't really mind since he's also excited by his trainers excitement.
"well what's it say, who sent them, and why?"
Harry chuckle sat Hermione's endless thirst for information, he motions for the hoothoot to move to his shoulder so he can use both arms and the hoothoot does, causing Salazar to stare up at it in curiosity.
"It was a letter from a man named Rubeus Hagrid, he apparently knew my parents and was the one to bring me here as a baby, he got me a birthday present so he wouldn't miss it before school started."
Hermione was slightly apprehensive about this until Harry said the next part of the letter.
"He's the keeper of keys and grounds of Hogwarts, he apparently found this one while exploring the nearby dark forest and decided to send her to me."
Hermione was confused by that.
"Her?"
The hoothoot turned and looked at Hermione and puffed up in what could only be called agitation at being questioned on her gender.
"Yes, apparently mister Hagrid checked her over himself before sending her to me, besides the odd coloring she has an egg move as well as her hidden ability."
This left Hermione slightly shocked at Thai news before her inquisitive mind took over and started demanding answers from the boy and his newest companion.
"What egg move does she have, and what's her hidden ability, also why is she white, as far as I know, shiny hoothoot are yellow so how did she get like this?"
The hoothoot apparently didn't like being bombarded with questions and was going to start flying towards the annoying fuzzy haired one, when she felt something on her leg. She looked down and saw Salazar looking up at her with amazement in his eyes as he seemed to be fascinated with her wings, this seemed to cause the hoothoot to decide not to berate the fuzzy haired one and simply bask in the attention of Salazar.
"Hermione calm down, I'll answer them all once I give her a name, register her, and get her scanned, so just give me a moment."
At those words the hoothoot seemed to remember something and fluttered back to the cage before grabbing something and bringing it back to Harry.
Once it was placed in Harry's hand he realized it was a PokeBall, it was pure white with a red line in the center and nothing else, it almost matched the hoothoot perfectly. Snow white feathers all over and big red eyes, Harry quickly took his Rotomdex and had it connect to the PokeBall in his hand, after a couple of seconds all of hoothoots information was displayed before him, as well as a prompt for a nickname.
"Well, how about we call you something from wizard history, how does Hedwig sound?"
