Chapter 20

The silence was almost deafening after what Belica had told them, Granger tentatively speaks up hoping she was wrong.

"I'm sorry professor, but did you just say that Harry was going to have to run with his log?"

The smile that split Belica's face was wolfish and filled with a glee that scared many of the children who stepped back from their professor.

"You heard me right Granger, since Mr. Potter is so much more advanced then you lot in his physical fitness, he will be doing what you lot will be doing in later lessons to help build your endurance, strength, and durability."

The whole class couldn't believe what they were hearing and many of the students looked ready to run and get another professor but before a single word could be said Harry started running. This left most of the students stunned before the voice of Belica snapped them out of their stupor.

"What are you all standing around for, get moving!"

The roar from Belica made some students instantly start running, after a few more seconds the rest joined and started running around the inner court of the quidditch pitch.

Belica simply stood in the center and barked out at the students.

"You three stop talking and get running! You at the back I see you slowing down, if you keep that up you'll be spending detention running even more laps!"

Soon some students caught on and started taking the running seriously, but of course there will always be those who think that they're above such rules. So with a sound like a rumbling earthquake, Belica ran towards the students who hadn't followed his orders and had stayed clumped up talking.

"When I say stop talking and run I mean RUN!!"

The small group of seven Slytherins began running at full speed to escape the large man with a wild mane for hair and a beard so thick it could almost be mistaken for a pelt, with clearly large fangs bared at them.

But this burst of speed didn't last long, soon enough many students fell, before the only one still going was Harry.

He was still running with the log across his shoulders as if it weighed nothing, the students had all day down to try and catch their breathes as they watched Harry run lap after lap.

"What are you all sitting down for, on your feet, walk around put your hands above your head if you need to catch your breath! And quit gawking at Potter!"

Instantly the students on the ground jumped up and started walking around making sure to stay out of their professors eye sight. Before long Belica called Harry in stoping him from completing his fiftieth lap, with not even a drop of sweat on his brow Harry joined the group with the log still firmly across his shoulders.

"That was pathetic, the only one who even did a good showing was Potter."

Many of the purebloods flushed in anger and sent looks of anger and jealousy at Harry which he promptly ignored.

"Now onto the final portion of hour little test, your going to do some hand eye coordination and reflex training."

Belica pulled a large sack up next to the group and let it fall to the ground, letting spill out dozens of rugby balls, this lead to some confusion before with a snap of his fingers, Belica gained the students attention and pointed to the goal post on the field.

"All of you are going to pick up a ball and take it over to the post, you're going to then throw it as far as you can, then wait for it to return."

This time all the students where confused and Hermione raised her hand being the only one brave enough to ask the question.

"Yes Granger what is it?"

"Well professor Belica, I was wondering how they would return to us?"

The group of students as a whole nodded in agreement and Belica simply snorted at them before picking up a ball and handing it to Harry.

"Potter, why don't you demonstrate."

Harry just nodded and with the log still across his shoulders ran to the goal posts, once he was in place he took careful aim and threw the ball as hard and as far as he could. The students watched as the ball almost went past the stadium seats before it simply turned in mid air and headed back towards Harry, as if thrown by another person.

As the rugby ball flew threw the air it started jolting to the left and right making it hard to tell where it was going to land, but Harry didn't seem to have any trouble with this and caught the ball.

"And that students is how it will come back to you, any more questions?"

Belica's snarl made it apparent he wasn't in the mood for more questions, so the students simply eschews grabbed a ball and went to the goal posts and started the exercise.

--

By the end of the class all the students were sweaty and covered in dirt and bruises, all except one, who seemed ready to keep going.

"Alright, that's it for today, I'm just going to say all but one of you are absolutely pathetic, I have my work cut out for me to get you all into what would pass for decent shape."

Belica simply passed his gaze over the crowd of students with contempt plain on his face.

"But since some of you have detention with me you should be able to get there sooner than the others."

A good portion of the Slytherins and a small group of the Gryffindors all looked slightly green at the idea of detention with professor Belica, the rest of the group simply looked dead on their feet.

"Alright, go ahead, off you get, I'll see you all bright and early tomorrow, so don't be late."

This led to a groan passing through the group which made a grin spread across Belica's face as the students shuffled off back to the castle and to the showers and beds that called to them.

But one student didn't even budge from his spot u til it was only him and Belica left on the quidditch pitch left, he marched forward and put the log he had been carrying on the ground. Then with a twist of his back a series of pops and cracks resound through out the pitch before Harry looks Belica in his eyes and with not a single warning or sign of what was to come, Harry sprang forward and punched Belica in his jaw, staggering the man.

Emma who up until now had simply been watching sprung into action and tackled Belica from behind and made him fall to the ground, but Belica was a longfang for a reason.

So without any hesitation or delay, he sprung up onto his feet and sent Emma flying with a double kick to the solar plexus, sending her twenty feet away from where Belica now stood.

He quickly turned to face the small middle that came at him and threw out a punch to try and catch Harry across the temple.

"Good opening pup, but you have to follow up better."

The grim the split Belica's face almost seemed to want to make his top half fall off with how wide it was, Harry ignored this though and went for Belica's knees and almost caught them in a kick. But Belica simply moved one foot back and raised the other to stomp down where Harry had stopped to unleash his kick, but Emma had returned to the fight by biting into Belica's ankle.

With his ankle trapped Belica was forced to try and loosen the wolf's jaw, but Harry had already taken advantage and aimed a punch at Belica's family jewels, but stopped before making contact.

For a few seconds no one moved, but then like rolling thunder Belica laughed, a deep belly laugh that shook one's bones and the floor they stood on, Emma let his foot go and Harry stood back from Belica.

"Good pup, you know to take any advantage and make it effective, whether it was honorable or not."

Harry could see the smile his teacher would have given him if he had watched this fight, that old jackal wolf would have been laughing at just seeing Harry's slight frame pushing back such a large person like Belica.

"I can see where the jackal wolf has sunk its claws in your training, foolish and arrogant he may be, but a fine teacher he makes."

Belica seemed to stare off into the distance reminiscing over memory of his bloodclaw days, but Belica quickly shook those thoughts away and turned back to his young lord.

"I will see you in the morning lord Potter, hopefully our spar before classes will be just as fun."

Harry simply nodded and turned to walk back to the castle, Emma trailing behind her pup wondering if they could manage a decent hunt before bed.
