IMP office, Friday afternoon,
It was nearing the end of the day, and the crew of IMP was chilling in the waiting room. Moxxie was sitting at Loona's desk filling out some last-minute paperwork, Blitz was in his office doing god knows what, Millie was in the breakroom getting coffee, and Dante and Loona were sitting on the waiting room sofa scrolling through their phones. Millie stepped out of the breakroom and handed a cup to Moxxie just as Loona suddenly got an alert on her phone.
"Oh hey, Hades and Jessi just asked if we wanted to go on a double date this Saturday, you in?" Loona asked her boyfriend.
"Nope sorry I'm hanging out with an old buddy of mine this weekend remember," Dante replied with a shake of his head.
"Ohh yeah right sorry," Loona stated looking somewhat disappointed.
Millie and Moxxie watched the two continue to chat, smiling at the adorable display. Suddenly Blitz's office door swung open and out stepped the titular Blitz his usual stupid grin on his face.
"Alright everyone the day's officially over, time to head the fuck out!" Blitz said cheerfully heading for the door, Dante and Loona got up and followed him out as he did Dante's phone slipped out of his jacket pocket and fell to the floor.
"Hey Dante, you dropped your phone!" Moxxie yelled but Dante was already down the hall. Suddenly Dante's phone pinged, picking it up Millie looked at the screen and saw Dante had gotten a text, from someone called Mai.
"Huh, I wonder who this Mai chick is?" Millie asked herself looking at the notification. Looking closer Millie decided to read the notification.
Hey sexy, can't wait to see you tomorrow! three hearts and a kiss emojis followed the text. Millie looked at the text in shock, a sinking realization came to mind.
"He's cheatin' on Loona," Millie mumbled out loud.
"What?" Moxxie asked confused not fully hearing what his wife had said.
"I said that fuckers cheating on Loona!" Millie shouted holding the phone up to her husband's face so he could see the message.
"Now Millie we have no proof that he's cheating, she could just be a friend," Moxxie said trying to defend his younger coworker.
"Look at this text Moxx, look at what she called him, sexy!" Millie said pointing at the text.
"Maybe she's just being playfully flirty, nothing serious?" Moxxie stated still trying to stand up for Dante albeit sounding somewhat uncertain.
"Look at these emojis you don't add these unless you're serious about you're flirtin," Millie explained glaring down at the message.
"That bastard how could he do that to her?" Millie asked furious at this heartless betrayal.
"Now Millie Dante's a great guy and he loves Lona there's no way he'd cheat on her," Moxxie explained not believing Dante would be an adulterer.
"Then what do you think this is?" Millie asked her husband gesturing to Dante's phone.
"He said he was hanging out with a friend tomorrow, she's probably that friend," Moxxie explained trying to calm his wife down. Suddenly Moxxie's phone started ringing, answering it he heard Blitz on the other line.
Yo M what the fuck is taking you so long? Get your sweet asses down here now! Blitz yelled annoyed.
"Look Millie let's just go home this is all just a misunderstanding, let's just forget about it and go home," Moxxie stated.
"But, but,"
"No buts, Dante wouldn't cheat on Loona he loves that girl and even if he was we have no real proof so we shouldn't start drama over what could be nothing now come on," Moxxie stated sternly grabbing Millie by the hand and led her out of the office to the parking lot.
Getting in the van Moxxie returned Dante's phone which he graciously thanked him for, on the car ride home Millie spent the whole time glaring at Dante.
Later that night M apartment,
Millie looked out her bedroom window she just couldn't get over what she saw today, she didn't care what Moxxie said she didn't trust Dante, that text was more than just friendly banter he was up to something, and Millie was going to find out what. Just at that moment Moxxie stepped out of the bathroom and came into the bedroom, as he did he looked around checking under the bed, the closet, and the ceiling.
"What are you doing hun?" Millie asked her husband confused.
"I'm looking for Blitz making sure he's not spying on us again," Moxxie explained as he continued to look around.
"He's not here, he's goin on a trip to Greed this weekend remember?" Millie replied Moxxie blinked.
"Ohh right well then off to bed," Moxxie stated sheepishly climbing into bed, Millie was about to follow her husband's lead when an idea came to mind.
"Moxx, I got a great idea!" Millie shouted excitedly, startling her husband.
"What?" he asked confused.
"Why don't we spy on Dante's little get-together with this "friend" of his and see what's up," Millie explained excitedly with a wide smile.
"Oh, Satan are you still on this I thought that we agreed to mind our own business?" Moxxie asked his wife annoyed that she was still focused on this issue.
"I know Moxx, but I can't shake the feelin that Dante's up to somethin, I need to know what it is," Millie explained, Moxxie shook his head in annoyance.
"Look, Millie, I get you're curious but like I said before this isn't our business, and besides even if it was, Dante would never cheat on Loona," Moxxie explained, suddenly Milie grabbed Moxxie by the collar, and pulled him in close.
"You don't know that for sure, he's planning something with that Mai bitch, and I am going to fucking find out what," Millie let go of Moxxie then made her way to the closet and began digging around.
"Millie, what the fuck are you doing?" Moxxie asked approaching his wife.
"I'm finding a good disguise," Millie explained pulling out a pink blouse.
"So, wait you're going to spy on him?" Moxxie asked as his wife continued to go through the closet.
"Damn right I am I'm gonna get to the bottom of this if it's the last thing I do," Millie explained pulling out a pair of khaki pants.
"Nothing I say is gonna stop you, is it?" Moxxie asked dejectedly, already knowing the answer, once Millie had an idea in her head it was impossible to turn her away from it.
"Nope," Millie replied as she got her outfit for tomorrow ready.
"Fuck," Moxxie muttered before reaching into the closet and pulling out a turtleneck and a black overcoat.
"You taggin along, I thought you didn't think he was cheatin?" Millie asked seeing her husband gathering his disguise.
"I don't but I have to be there to keep you from decapitating Dante and whoever this Mai lady is," Moxxie explained, Millie rolled her eyes but still sent her husband a happy smile.
The next morning, Dante's apartment,
Millie and Moxxie sat in their car which was parked across from Dante's apartment building, both wore their disguises and watched the front entrance. They had been there since six in the morning waiting for Dante to leave, and they were starting to get a little bored.
"Satan dammit when's this guy gonna go on his date?" Millie asked annoyed sipping her coffee.
"It's not a date Millie," Moxxie replied deadpanned.
Suddenly the front door opened and out stepped Dante wearing his trademark black jacket but instead of a red shirt, he had a burgundy sweater underneath.
"Hmm he's dressed up nice for just an outing with a friend," Millie said sarcastically glaring at the demon.
"Hey maybe he just wants to look his best," Moxxie reasoned. The two watched as Dante got into his car and took off. Moxxie immediately took off after his coworker staying far behind him so he wouldn't notice him. The couple followed Dante through Imp City, eventually following him out of the city and onto Hell's main highway.
"Where the hell is he goin?" Millie asked not sure why Dante was leaving Imp City.
"Looks like Pentagram," Moxxie stated as he saw Dante get on an exit towards Pride's main city.
"Why the Hell is he going there?" Millie asked confused as to why an Imp would travel into Sinner territory.
"I guess this friend lives in the city she's probably a servant to some rich overlord," Moxxie explained knowing that some Imps did live in the city for work.
After about twenty minutes M entered Pentagram City looking up through the windshield the couple was in awe of the massive pentagram that sat just above the city, bathing it in a dull red light. Making their way through the town Dante eventually parked his car in a parking garage of a fancy mall, Millie and Moxxie parked one floor below him. Hiding behind their car the two watched as Dante made his way out of the garage and followed discreetly behind him hiding behind cars, Sinners, and other things, M followed Dante to the mall's main entrance. Standing near the entrance was a female Red Panda Sinner, the Sinner wore a short purple qipao-style dress with a silver flower pattern embroidered on it she had long black hair tied back into a bun held in place with two long pins. Upon noticing Dante, the Sinner smiled wide, rushed toward Dante, and jumped straight into his arms, the Sinner reached up and kissed Dante on the cheek leaving a black lipstick mark.
"I'm guessing that's Mai," Moxxie stated watching the scene unfold from behind a bus bench.
"Stupid little slut," Millie seethed glaring at the panda.
"Millie calm down, remember we have no proof that this is a date," Moxxie explained trying to calm down his wife, but it didn't work.
"Look at her Moxx who dresses that nice for a friendly hangout?" she asked pointing at the Sinner's fancy dress.
"Maybe they haven't seen each other in a while," Moxxie replied, though he had to admit their outfits did seem a little too formal.
Wiping the lipstick off his face Dante smiled and held out his arm, Mia giggled and took it allowing herself to be led into the mall, moving quickly the two Imps followed them inside. The mall was large, with about three floors, each floor was crowded with various demons, most were sinners but there was a small amount of Hellborns most of the higher classes of demons, succubi, sharks, and sea demons. While there were some Imps and Hellhounds most worked as staff cleaning tables and mopping floors or acting as security.
"Isn't this place a bit too upscale for Dante?" Millie asked, The last time she checked Dante made the same as them and neither of them could afford to shop at this place.
"Yeah, not only that but Dante doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would associate with such a high-brow class of people," Moxxie answered thinking back to Dante's numerous anti-rich and anti-upper-class comments, specifically the one time they went out for drinks and Dante went on a thirty-minute long rant about how horrible the nobles were that made him, Millie, and even Blitz very uncomfortable.
The Imps quickly ended their conversation when they saw Dante and Mai walk into a clothing store. The two Imps quickly rushed in after them and immediately hid in a clothes rack. Millie and Moxxie watched as the two looked through the various clothing Items picking up and putting down different articles and talking them over.
"Psst Moxx what are they sayin?" Millie asked her husband as she was too far to hear and the store had some crappy music playing that made it even more difficult to hear.
"I have no idea," Moxxie replied.
"What I thought you could read lips?" Millie whispered to her husband not wanting to be heard.
"I can but they're not speaking English I'm not sure what they're saying," Moxxie replied with a hiss, as they were talking, a male sea demon in a fancy jacket and dress pants walked up to Dante and Mai the badge on his jacket indicating he was a sale associate.
The sales associate said something to Mai Millie couldn't hear it but whatever it was it made the Sinner mad, Dante more so.
"What did he say?" Millie asked frantically.
"He just told Mai that she can't bring her pet in here," Moxxie said, Millie looked shocked then quickly glared at the sea demon.
"Ok, Dante just asked the guy what he meant," Moxxie stated as he watched Dante step toward the associate, but the associate just ignored him. The associate was about to repeat his statement when Mai yanked out one of her hairpins and plunged it into the demon's jugular.
Pulling the pin out blood gushed out of the wound, the associate reached up and grabbed his throat before collapsing to the floor. Mai spits on the sea demon's corpse before grabbing Dante and leading him out of the store, wiping blood off the pin and sticking it back in her bun. Millie and Moxxie rushed out of the clothes rack and chased after them. As they followed the two through the mall, Millie saw they were still holding hands.
"Look at that bastard he's not even tryin' to be subtle," Millie growled gesturing at their intertwined hands.
"Well, maybe they just forgot?" Moxxie replied, still trying to defend Dante but he could feel his resolve fading.
Making their way to a bench the two sat down, moving swiftly the two Imps hid behind a bush nearby. The two Imps watched as the potential lovebirds talked still unable to understand what the hell they were saying. Reaching into her purse Mai pulled out a small pipe and a small jar, opening the jar Mai pulled out a small brown ball putting it in the pipe the red panda put the pipe to her lips and inhaled. Blowing out a cloud of smoke Mai giggled before handing the pipe to Dante and offering him a hit; the Imp reached for the pipe then stopped himself, declining the offer with a shake of his head.
"That's not tobacco in that pipe, is it?" Moxxie asked watching as the Sinner took another hit.
"Nope," Millie replied glaring at the Red Panda.
It's bad enough that he's cheatin on Loona but he's doing it with someone who wants to get him back on drugs, Millie thought to herself disappointment rising in her. She had no idea why Dante would cheat on Loona to begin with after all the time they spent together and all the sweet tender moments they had it made Millie angry beyond belief at Dante's infidelity.
Millie was pulled out of her thoughts when she saw Dante and Mai get up and head off to a different store, following behind Millie watched as Mai continued to cling to Dante like his paramour.
"Shameless, utterly shameless," Millie growled, Moxxie put a hand on her shoulder to keep her calm.
The pair followed Dante and Mai into their next destination a store called Asmodeus's Secret, a well-known Lingerie store and sex shop, one of the best lingerie brands in Hell. Mai looked around the store examining the different sets of underwear, while Dante's attention was on the sex toys specifically the whips and lashes, his attention falling on a sign about custom orders.
"Huh didn't know Dante was into that stuff?" Moxxie stated, watching from behind a manikin in bondage gear.
"Everyone's got their kink," Millie replied, at that moment Mai walked up to Dante holding up a lacy lingerie set for Dante to see.
Dante blushed looking at the underwear, Mai giggled before turning and heading for the checkout with Dante behind her. Looking back at Dante Mai dropped the lingerie with a dramatic OOPS the sinner bent down to pick it up, and as she did her dress started to ride up giving Dante and subsequently M a view of her black panties. Mai looked back, giving Dante a sultry look and a wink, Dante's eyes were glued to her ass taking in her curves and committing the sight to memory. The sight of Dante ogling the Sinner made Millie's blood boil.
Look at this pig leering at this bimbo, and who does this slut think she is showing off her skinny ass to everyone! Millie thought to herself, fuming with rage.
Moxxie himself was also upset by this display, yes, he still didn't think Dante was cheating (though he was starting to lose faith in the guy) Moxxie found Mai's little show and the fact Dante was so shamefully watching it not even trying to look away or show some dignity or self-control disgusting.
Giving her ass a little shake Mai stood up and headed straight for the checkout counter, Dante followed her, and M followed him. Laying her items on the counter the cashier a succubus in a corset and a thong rang up the items totaling a whopping two hundred souls, it was at that moment Dante asked the succubus about the custom orders.
"Yep, we do specialty orders, you can describe the toy or present a drawing of what you want and fill out this form," she explained handing him the form and a pen.
Grabbing the pen he filled out the form quickly then he reached into his jacket and pulled out his sketchbook, flipping through Dante found the page he was looking for, tore it out, and handed the drawing to the cashier. Taking the drawing, the clerk looked it over her eyes going wide in surprise.
"Uhh, you sure about this sir this seems a little… intense?" she asked looking very uncomfortable as she stared at the drawing.
"Yep, that is what I want," Dante stated with certainty, the cashier looked perturbed but quickly filed the form and the drawing then rang up the order increasing the total from two hundred souls to five hundred.
"Fuck that's a big bill what the fuck did he order?" Moxxie asked, curious to know just what kind of toy did Dante buy and why was the cashier so disturbed by it.
"No clue I'm just wonderin' how the fuck Dante's gonna pay for all this shit," Millie replied, at that moment Dante reached into his pocket, pulled out a credit card, and handed it to the cashier. After processing the order, she put all the clothes into a bag and gave it to Mai. Bag in hand Mai and Dante left the Lingerie shop, Millie and Moxxie were about to follow when suddenly Millie felt a tap on her shoulder, turning around she saw the Succubi cashier giving her a warm smile.
"Can I help you with anything ma'am?" she asked the Imp woman.
"No, we're fine," Millie replied but the succubi didn't get the message.
"You sure, we've just gotten a new line of Lingerie that should leave your partner drooling," she chirped picking up a pair of lacy pink panties only to see that Millie and Moxxie were already gone.
"Well, that's just rude," she stated in a huff.
M followed the two through the mall eventually the supposed couple entered a clothing store, watching from behind a rack of clothes they watched as Mai picked out several dresses and showed them to Dante. Dante smiled and said something that neither Millie nor Moxxie could understand but whatever he said made Mai blush. The two continued to look through the store, Dante eventually stopped to look over some jackets while he was distracted Mai quietly snuck up on him and began coiling his tail around her finger. Dante stiffened in more ways than one, the tail was an Imps most sensitive part, and the smile on Mai's face made it clear she knew that little fact. Pulling his tail free Dante sent the Panda sinner an angry look but it was made less effective blush spreading across his face, Mai laughed and then made her way to the changing rooms, Millie and Moxxie followed behind. Sitting several feet away the two watched as Mai entered one of the changing rooms. She gestured for Dante to follow her, but he declined, closing the door Mai started changing while Dante began browsing through his phone. Moxxie smiled at the sight this helped reaffirm his belief that Dante was innocent which at the time had begun to waver, Millie on the other hand, wasn't convinced she still felt something was up, especially with the tail play and the offer to join her in the dressing room. Mai stepped out wearing a fancy black cocktail dress, Dante smiled and gave her a thumbs-up, she showed off two more dresses before finally putting on her purple qipao dress back on and heading to the checkout. Millie and Moxxie tried to follow but suddenly one of the changing room doors opened and hit Moxxie square in the face. Stepping out of the room was a middle-aged Shark woman, looking down the woman saw Moxxie lying dazed on the floor.
"Ohh shit I'm sorry," she said giving Moxxie a hand, taking it she helped Moxxie to his feet, he thanked her but before he could get moving she stepped into his path.
"Hey, could I get your opinion on something?" she asked.
"Sorry but I got to go," he tried to slip past, but she refused.
"Come on I just want to know how this dress looks," she replied holding up a red dress that was two sizes too small.
"Look miss like I said I don't have time for this I need to go," Moxxie replied annoyed, the woman glared.
"Look I just want to know if the dress looks good on me or not that-" she didn't finish her sentence as suddenly her head fell to the floor with the rest of her body following suit. Looking up Moxxie saw his wife holding up a bloody axe.
"Dammit Moxx let's go!" she yelled taking Moxxie by the arm and dragging him out of the store.
The two continued to follow Dante and Mai watching as they went from store to store each time Dante bought Mai something nice, with the overall total being nearly one thousand souls. That wasn't all they saw, the two Imps also watched as Dante and Mai continued to flirt with each other, while they were still speaking a language that neither could follow, they could recognize flirty banter when they saw it. It didn't help that Mai proceeded to give Dante more pecks on the cheek and even grabbed his ass once and all he did was smirk and send her saucy glances, all of which infuriated Millie. Eventually, the two walked arm and arm into a small teashop, as they did Dante passed by an advertisement for Mammon's Clown Pageant which featured none other than Fizzoralli, Dante glared at the picture of the clown before spitting on it.
"What was that about?" Moxxie asked confused by Dante's behavior.
"Who cares come on," Millie whined grabbing Moxxie and pulling him along.
Following them inside Millie and Moxxie looked around and saw the tea house had a classic Chinese aesthetic with low tables with no chairs only large cushions. Talking with a mouse girl with bright pink hair they were led to a table three tables up and one across from Dante and Mai. having a seat, the two ordered some tea and some dumplings and watched.
Dante and Mai continued to talk in whatever language they were speaking, as they did Mai reached up and pulled the pins out of her hair causing her bun to be undone and her hair to cascade down. Brushing a lock out of her face Dante stated something that caused Mai's face to glow bright red, she looked away and Millie could make out a flattered smile on her lips. Looking back at him Mai reached forward, put her hand on his, and gestured to a set of sliding doors. Standing up Mai took Dante's hand and led him through the door before closing it behind her.
Both Millie and Moxxie stared at the door each with a different expression on their faces. Moxxie's expression was one of disappointment, the Imp always had great respect for Dante despite his more… aggressive tendencies he always saw the younger Imp as someone with strong morals and values, but now all he saw was a sleazy pervert who had no qualms cheating on his girlfriend. Millie, on the other hand, had a look of pure fury, Millie was a good woman, she respected the sanctity of relationships, and seeing Dante sleep around behind Loona's back, screwing with some skanky Sinner made her blood boil. Millie stood up she couldn't take it anymore she was going to confront Dante and teach him a lesson for sleeping around behind someone's back, just that moment the mouse Sinner returned a big smile on her face.
"Can I get you two anything else," she chirped, suddenly Millie reached behind her and pulled out an axe, the woman didn't have time to scream before Millie hacked her to bits. Marching over to the door Millie smashed through the flimsy wood and paper.
"Dante you son of a bitch I'm gonna...huh?" the look of rage on Millie's face quickly morphed into a look of utter confusion.
When Millie smashed through the door, she expected to see Dante and Mai, wrapped around each other, naked as the day they were born, but instead what she saw was Dante and Mai fully clothed sitting in front of a small wooden table covered in small black and white stones.
"Millie wait don't do anything… what the fuck?" Moxxie said noticing the situation and likewise being as confused as his wife.
"About time you two showed up," Dante stated not looking at the two, as he placed a white stone on the table.
"Ohh good move," Mai stated before putting down a black stone.
"Wait, wait, wait, you knew we were followin' yeah?" Millie asked Dante surprised, she and Moxxie were pretty good at stealth there was no way he could have noticed them.
"Yeah, no shit I knew," Dante answered putting down another stone.
'But how?" Moxxie asked perplexed.
"One you parked your car in front of my house, two you're wearing the same disguises you wear when going to Earth, and three you haven't been very quiet," Dante explained pointing to the eviscerated Sinner in the main room, Millie looked embarrassed while Moxxie smacked himself in the forehead.
"If you knew it was us then why didn't you say anything?" Moxxie asked, confused as to why Dante just let them follow him around on his date.
'To show you that nothing is going on between me and Mai," Dante put another white stone down.
"Unfortunately," Mai said for the first time in English, placing a black stone down on the board.
"Nothing, really?" Millie asked, crossing her arms.
"Hmm, good move… and yes Millie nothing is going on between me and Mai we're just hanging out as friends," Dante stated firmly looking over at Millie.
"If you two are just friends then why were you so handsy with each other?" Moxxie asked, putting his hands on his hips.
"Hey, she was the one getting handsy I didn't lay a finger on her," Dante replied defensively, putting down another stone.
"You were more than welcome to," Mai stated with a smirk, putting down another black stone and picking up three white ones.
"You didn't seem to have a problem with it," Millie retorted glaring at the younger Imp.
"Hey, I told her to knock it off, but old habits die hard I guess," Dante explained looking annoyed.
"Wait old habits?" Moxxie asked confused.
"Yeah, me and Dante used to date," Mai stated proudly.
"Really?" Moxxie asked curiously.
"Yep, we dated for about five years give or take, and then we broke up," Dante explained casually, putting down another stone he didn't notice that Mai looked sad at his explanation.
"So does Loona know you're hangin' out with an old girlfriend," Millie asked still not buying this was a normal friendly hangout between.
"Yes, she does, Loona's met Mai before, I took her here on a date once," Dante explained.
"He indeed has, that's how we got back in touch," Mai explained, Dante reached into his pocket pulled out his phone and showed them a photo. Looking closer they saw that it was Dante and Loona sitting at one of the small tables in the tea house's main eating room.
"Mai took that picture," Dante explained to the Imp couple.
"And she's really fine with this?" Millie asked her coworker, Dante scowled at the Imp.
'Yes! Gesu Cristo woman, Loona trusts me not to mess around so why can't you two?" Dante asked starting to get annoyed, Moxxie was taken aback, he looked away a guilty expression on his face. Millie on the other hand still wasn't convinced she felt that things still seemed to "lovey-dovey" for this to be a friendly outing.
"If this isn't a date then why the fuck did you buy her all that stuff?" Millie asked, remembering that Dante spent well over one thousand souls on this girl.
"I didn't buy her a thing," Dante stated.
"Huh?" both Millie and Moxxie said in unison, reaching into his pocket Dante pulled out a gold credit card and offered it to them. Taking the card Moxxie looked it over, once he saw the name on the front of it his eyes went wide.
"You stole Stolas's credit card!" Moxxie asked in shock.
"Wait seriously!?" Millie questioned, taking the card from her husband and looking it over.
"What no I stole Stella's credit card it's just in Stolas's name," Dante explained.
"Why the fuck do you have Stella's credit card?" Moxxie asked, not sure why Dante would do something as stupid as stealing from a Goetia, especially a psychotic vengeful one like Stella.
"Because I do alright," Dante said crossing his arms.
"Look guys this isn't a date Mai just wanted to hang out and thank me for getting revenge for her," Dante explained trying to get to the point.
"Wait revenge does that mean she's a former client of ours?" Moxxie asked curiously.
"Yep, I hired IMP to kill the guy who raped and killed me," Mai replied her tone becoming bitter, she slammed a stone down on the board harder than she needed to Dante held her hand and she calmed down.
"When was this?" Moxxie asked not remembering this hit, but they've done so many it was hard to remember them all.
"When you, Millie, and Blitz were fucking around in Greed," Dante explained.
"Ohhh," Millie and Moxxie said together, then Millie remembered something.
"Wait if this is a thank-you trip then why are you buying her stuff?" Millie asked genuinely confused as to why Mai was the one getting gifts when Dante was the one who helped her.
"I offered to buy him something, but he said he didn't need anything," Mai explained to the Imps.
"That's because I don't, but I love stealing from the rich, so I offered to buy her stuff with Stolas's money," he explained with a smug smirk.
"And I also love making the people I care about happy, there's no better reward than seeing the ones you care for smile," Dante stated sending Mai a warm smile.
"Your kindness and compassion are some of the reasons why I love you," Mai said in Mandarin, blushing Dante looked away slightly uncomfortable.
"Alright now that everything is explained do you two mind leaving, I want to get back to kicking her ass at Go?" Dante asked, Mai scoffed.
"Kick my ass, are you kidding I have a five-point lead on you how the hell are you planning to beat-" Mai's statement was cut off when Dante placed down a white stone, her eyes went wide as she watched him scoop up seven of her black stones and capture nearly a third of the board.
"That's how," Dante said smugly, Mai stared at the board her right eye beginning to twitch, before suddenly pouncing on Dante, knocking over the board and causing black and white stones to scatter everywhere.
"How the fuck did you get so good at this game!?" she shouted in Mandarin as she shook Dante violently.
"Seriously I taught you how to fucking play how the fuck are you suddenly better than me at… at," she stopped upon realizing that her face was inches from Dante's, her cheeks turned red before she suddenly pressed her lips against Dante's much to his and M 's surprise.
"Dammit Mai stop!" Dante yelled pushing the Sinner away.
"Ahh come on, just one fuck, please?" Mai asked in a pleading tone.
"Maledetta Donna, I told you I have a girlfriend now remember?" Dante replied angrily.
"Ohh come on she doesn't have to know," Mai stated leaning in close.
"Hey back off you slut or I swear to Satan I will cut you in two!" Millie threatened lifting her axe, Mai just rolled her eyes.
"Ohh come on why do you guys care so much about him cheating I mean last time I checked we were in Hell, you know the land of sin, and vice, and evil so why do you guys care about adultery?" Mai asked the Imps not getting why they were so adamant about this.
"That may be but even here in Hell we need some standards we need to have some lines we don't cross, and cheating is one of them, at least for us," Moxxie explained gesturing to himself, Millie, and Dante.
"You don't mind when your boss sleeps with a married man," Mai said, the three Imps were taken aback by that statement, and they each looked away in embarrassment.
"You know about them?" Moxxie asked wondering how this Sinner found out about their boss's arrangement.
"That's- that's different," Millie stammered sounding uncertain.
"Really how so?" Mai asked not buying it.
"Cause they are in love and Stolas's wife is a bitch that guy deserves better than her," Millie stated sternly putting her hands on her hips.
"Whatever you say," Mai said sarcastically.
"Whatever so how do you about Blitz and Stolas?" Moxxie asked how this woman knew about their boss's deal with the Prince.
"Well besides it being a worse-kept secret than Asmodeus and Fizzoralli, Dante here told me about it," she said gesturing to Dante, who looked sheepish.
"When was that?" Moxxie inquired, wondering why Dante would tell her about the affair.
"Like a week ago we were face-timing and he told me about it," Mai stated what she didn't mention was how Dante said we would like to beat Stolas near death, tie him to the back of his car, and drag him across the seven rings, much to Dante's relief.
"Look can you guys just fuck off already and let me and Dante get back to what we were doing?" she asked in an annoyed tone leaning down to kiss Dante again only for him to push her away again.
"Look like I said before Mai it's not going to happen," Dante stated firmly standing up, he helped Mai to her feet.
"I think it's time to head out it's getting pretty late," Dante said checking the time and seeing it was nearly six.
"Alright I'm tired anyway," she stated sounding frustrated, as the two headed out of the tea shop Millie reached out and grabbed Dante's arm.
"Look, Dante, I just want to say I'm sorry, I… I should have trusted ya, I shoulda' known you wouldn't cheat on Loona you love that girl more than anythin' she trusts you so I should too," Millie explained looking to the ground ashamed.
"Hey, it's cool, I'm glad you care enough about Loona to make sure her partners aren't cheating you're both good friends," Dante said with a smile patting Millie on the head.
"Of course, like Blitz said we're like a family and we always have to stand up for family," Millie stated proudly, Dante smiled and turned to leave but Millie stopped him once again.
"Dante you're a good person and I'm proud to work alongside someone like you," Millie said with a warm smile.
"We both are," Moxxie added placing a hand on his wife's shoulder, Dante smiled pulled his hand away and left the tea shop with Mai.
"Good person" Hmm if they knew the real me, they wouldn't think that, Dante thought to himself as he and Mai left the Mall.
EPILOGUE
Later that night, Dante's apartment,
Dante sat in front of his computer, he and Mai were face-timing, Mai was in nothing but a towel she had just gotten out of the shower and was brushing her hair.
"Sorry about my coworkers following me Mai," Dante said to the Red Panda.
"It's cool I get they were just worried about you, and it's not like they affected anything," Mai replied putting the brush down and sending Dante a cheerful smile.
"I gotta ask though why do you live in Imp City why don't you move here to Pentagram and be around more of your own kind?" she asked, this wasn't the first time Mai had asked Dante why he chose to live among the Hellborns instead of with Sinners and every time he gave her the same answer.
"I just like it here better, I feel more at home with Imps," he explained, Mai rolled her eyes.
"Well anyway I'm exhausted so I'm gonna go to bed," Mai said through a yawn.
"Alright good night, Mai," Dante stated preparing to hang up.
"Ohh and before you go," Mai proceeded to stand up and opened up her towel giving Dante a full view of her body, Dante's face went red.
"Enjoy," she said through a giggle before hanging up.
"Well, that happened," Dante said to himself as he got up and flopped down on his bed.
Dante looked up at the ceiling as he did his mind flashed back to what Millie had said to him. He remembered how she said they were a family and how she was proud of him, Dante smiled it's been a while since he felt that kind of connection that kind of compassion but quickly that smile faded. As happy as he was Dante knew that this was all temporary, it always was at some point he would leave IMP and never see any of them ever again, yet he still made connections with the other which he knew would make leaving even harder.
"I always do this, I always form bonds with these people when I know that these bonds will just end in pain," Dante muttered to himself running his hands over his face.
"God, I need a distraction," it was that moment Loona walked in wearing nothing but a towel.
"Perfect," Dante said.
"What's perf-" Loona asked but was cut off when Dante got up, yanked off her towel, and pulled her into a kiss.
