Sonic ran across the grass of Palmtree Panic, the time stone still in hand. However, as he prepared to move on to the next area, he suddenly noticed something. There were badniks in the distance. The hedgehog stopped right in front of them and prepared to fight, but suddenly one of them was destroyed by a hammer. When Sonic looked up to see what caused this, he was shocked by who he saw.

It was a pink female mobian hedgehog with 3 spikes for bangs on her head and black eyes. She was wearing a green T-shirt with puffy sleeves, an orange skirt, a red ribbon headband and white and white and lavender sneakers with orange shoelaces. She also wore the same white gloves as the hedgehog siblings and Knuckles and wielded a large yellow and red hammer, which she was currently using to absolutely decimate the Badnik group.

After a few seconds of smashing and bashing, the Badniks were all completely destroyed. As the female mobian hedgehog then stood up and slung her hammer over her shoulder, she finally noticed Sonic and was as shocked as him. The two pointed at each other and simultaneously asked the other,

"Wh-Who're you?!"

Sonic was the first to respond, telling the female hedgehog,

"The name's Sonic, Sonic the Hedgehog. Listen kid; this is dangerous. I don't know why you came here, but this is Robotnik's capital. You must have a death wish if you think that you'll be able to do anything alone."

The pink hedgehog was offended by this, telling Sonic,

"I'll have you know that I can handle myself just fine! And if you must know, my name is Amy Rose. I came here in order to save this beautiful place from Robotnik's evil!"

Sonic's eyes widened in surprise upon hearing Amy's name, and he responded by saying,

"Wait, you have a…?"

Knowing what the male hedgehog was about to say, Amy finished his sentence by saying to him,

"An actual surname? Yeah, those are pretty rare. I'm proud of mine."

"But, still…why would you come all the way here alone? Where are your parents?"

Amy looked down sadly, and Sonic immediately realized what she was trying to imply. He had seen that look in many a mobian's eyes when asked about their parents. Looking at her in sadness, Sonic put a comforting hand on Amy's shoulder and said to her.

"It's alright. I lost my family to Robuttnik too."

"Robuttnik?"

"A little nickname I gave that bloated jerk. Suits him, doesn't it?"

Amy couldn't help but chuckle a little at the nickname, but then looked at one of the flowers littering the ground. Walking up to it, she knelt down and plucked the flower from the grass, proceeding to smell it. She told Sonic,

"This flower…I've never seen anything so beautiful. Back on Mobius, all there is is metal and death. But this place…"

"That's why we're fighting: To make sure all of Mobius can look like this place."

Amy smiled at Sonic upon hearing him say this, but then noticed the time stone he was holding. Curious, she pointed at the stone and asked him,

"What's that?"

Sonic looked at the stone and then responded,

"I…honestly don't know. I touched a big ring, completed a weird challenge and got this thing."

As he juggled it in his hands, the hedgehog began to think about what the future might look like if Robotnik won; a wasteland covered in metal like Amy described. As if responding to his thoughts, the time stone suddenly began to glow. Before Sonic could question what was happening, a huge flash of light shot from the stone in his hand.

Just like before, the world around him turned green and he began flying upwards with sparkles flying around him. As his world faded to white, Sonic wondered,

'Am I being warped to the past again?!'

Soon afterwards, the bright light had faded and Sonic opened his eyes. His eyes widened in horror at what he saw and he jumped back. The area had become entirely mechanized and polluted and all the formerly green grass and leaves had all gone from green to orange. It was full of dark gray tubes that had filthy lavender colored water running through them, some of which being dumped into a gray river full of oil.

The hedgehog hero looked up at the pink sky and clenched his fists, muttering,

"This place…what's happened? Robotnik!!!"

With a woosh, Sonic began running down the track at max speed. As he looked around the destroyed area, with the factories and machines scattered around it and robians roaming everywhere, he said to himself,

"This place makes Robotropolis look like a picnic! Whatever Robotnik did here…"

Sonic eventually skidded to a halt across from two metallic palm trees. As he looked around for any more badniks to smash, he suddenly noticed a strange object descending from the sky. The hedgehog quickly realized upon closer inspection that this was a mech being piloted by Dr Robotnik himself. It was a bipedal red and gray mech with two inflatable bumpers at the end of its arms and spikes on the foot areas.

The mad doctor in the pilot seat smirked and asked Sonic,

"Ah, Sonic. What took you so long?"

"What do you mean? I've only been here a few minutes! Unless…"

A floating TV screen then suddenly hovered into the area beside Robotnik. When he saw how confused Sonic was by this, Robotnik chuckled and told him,

"So, you've figured it out. But I'll just let my comrade tell you."

The screen beside Robotnik suddenly flickered on, revealing…another Robotnik. Sonic's eyes widened in shock and horror as the other Robotnik said,

"Welcome to the future, Sonic!"

Sonic was even more floored by this revelation, and as he looked around he muttered,

"This is…the future?!"

"Yes! Glorious, don't you think?"

"You monster! Everything is destroyed!"

"Foolish hedgehog. You cannot begin to comprehend the depths of our plans."

Sonic was about to attack the screen out of anger, but then refocused himself. There was no time for that. Tapping his foot on the ground impatiently, the young hedgehog hero told his foe,

"Alright Robuttnik, you owe me answers. How'd you accomplish all this? And more importantly, why do you have an equally unattractive new friend with you?"

Robotnik crossed his arms in arrogance and replied,

"Your taunts will not affect me, hedgehog. But I suppose I can tell you why you're about to meet your end. You see, it all started over a year ago, merely days after our encounter with our alternate universe selves…"

I was humiliated. Even with a giant robot from an alternate reality, I had still failed to defeat you. For weeks I was lost in despair, believing it was my destiny to lose to you. Fortunately, that got me thinking about time. I began researching ancient Mobian lore in the archives of the former castle, and that's how I found them. The time stones of Little Planet.

The stories said that they had the power to manipulate the course of time itself. I simply had to have that kind of power, so myself, Sleet and Dingo all traveled to Never Lake to claim it. However, as I was about to claim it, I was interrupted by a bright flash of light. It was my future self that you see besides me. He told me that in his future, he had conquered Mobius and roboticized its entire population, including you and your siblings.

He offered his help to me, and of course I accepted. Our first act was eliminating Sleet and Dingo. Those fools had failed us for the last time. After that, we worked together to convert Little Planet into what you see now. In fact it was my future self who told me the location of your precious little base on the floating island. In his timeline, it was the last part of Mobius he conquered…'

"...And now we're going to do the same to this Mobius! And there's nothing you can do to stop us!"

As Robotnik began laughing evilly in triumph, his future self looked at him in annoyance. He muttered something about his younger self revealing everything too soon, but before anything else could be said, Sonic muttered,

"The time stones…"

He pulled out the gem he had picked up from the mysterious track and asked the Robotniks,

"So I'm guessing that this thing here is one of them?"

Both villain's eyes widened in shock when they saw the time stone. The present Robotnik yelled,

"How do you have a time stone?!"

Despite being equally shocked by Sonic having a time stone, the future Robotnik was quickly able to find his senses, saying to Sonic,

"Unexpected. But it doesn't matter. I already broke you once, and my younger self will do it again!"

The younger Robotnik prepared to fight upon hearing this, and Sonic did the same. After a few seconds Robotnik's mech began walking towards Sonic. In response the young hedgehog burst forward at supersonic speeds. He delivered two kicks to Robotnik's mech which were negated by him being bounced back by its arms, but he quickly adapted and leaped back, curling into a ball and rapidly rotating.

It was at that moment that he finally came up with a perfect new name for the attack: The Supersonic triple spin. With this name in mind, he then shot off at supersonic speeds, smashing into the arm of Robotnik's mech. The impact was enough to sever the mech's arm at the base. Robotnik roared in rage upon seeing this and attempted to strike with the remaining arm.

Unfortunately for the mad doctor, this attack was easily dodged by his spiny foe, who then leaped at the second arm and destroyed it as easily as the first. As Robotnik's now armless mech stumbled back, Sonic rubbed his nose and mocked the doctor by telling him,

"You really oughta start making your bots out of sturdier stuff, doc."

This remark angered Robotnik beyond belief and caused him to attempt to bull rush Sonic with his barely intact mech. Unfortunately for him, Sonic simply spun right through the mech's cockpit, miraculously missing Robotnik himself. The mech wasn't so lucky however and exploded, Robotnik managing to exit it via a jetpack he had been wearing. As he looked down at his rodent nemesis on the ground, the enraged doctor proclaimed,

"Don't think this is over, hedgehog! For soon, you will face an invention far greater than this!"

The doctor then flew away with the hovering tv that his future self had broadcasted from, and Sonic yelled at him in frustration,

"GET BACK HERE, EGGMAN!!!"

With that new nickname having been coined for the doctor, Sonic then sped off in a cloud of dust, determined to catch Robotnik and make him pay for all of his crimes…
