P.V. Normal
Humphrey: "Now we just have to wait for Jhosh and Scoot to recover enough to proceed with the next stage" I said
Catalina: "What are we going to do in the meantime?" I asked curiously
Humphrey: "We will continue as normal, but keeping the patrols on high alert, just like us, we must always be ready if we are required" I said
Catalina: "I understand" I said nodding
Kate: "Would that be the wisest thing to do?" I asked a little worried
Humphrey: "It's not like we have many more options, if we risk acting now, the pack's defense capacity will be greatly diminished, not to mention that whoever is going to execute the next phase of the blue code would be quite unprotected" I explained
Kate: "Mmm, you're right about that," I said with a sigh. Personally, I don't like waiting for the other side to make their move, but Humphrey was right. He and Catalina are very strong, but there are only two of them, they can't handle everything themselves
Catalina: "If you excuse me, I will return to Jhosh" I said before leaving
Humphrey: "Okay, I'll go organize and calm the wolves. I'm sure this will upset them a lot" I said
Kate: "Okay, I'll stay and take care of our puppies, but try to come back soon," I said to Humphrey
Humphrey: I smiled and said, "Don't worry, I'll do it and bring lunch right away"
Kate: I nodded while smiling
So, the three wolves went their separate ways
Shortly after, Catalina had arrived at the healers
Catalina: "I'm back, thanks for taking care of the puppies" I said gratefully to Sally
Sally: "It was nothing, they behaved pretty well" I said smiling
Catalina: "It's so good to hear that," I said, smiling
Sally: "By the way, did everything go well?" I asked worriedly
Catalina: "Yes, at least for the moment" I said
Sally: "I understand, well at least we can breathe easy for now" I said a little more relieved
Catalina: "For the moment yes" I said nodding, at that moment we heard moans near us and when we looked, we saw that Jhosh was finally waking up
Jhosh: "Ouch" I said in pain as I tried to get up
Sally: I quickly approached to stop him and said, "You must stay still, your wounds have not fully healed yet"
Josh: "I can tell that," I said sarcastically
Catalina: "It's good to see you're awake," I said, smiling
Josh: "How long was I gone?" I asked curiously
Catalina: "Like one day" I said
Josh: "ONE DAY?" I asked in surprise, "What the hell was in what you gave me?" I asked Sally angrily
Sally: "A powerful relaxant, along with several medicines that would help your wounds, but it is natural that you slept so much, your body urgently needed rest, the relaxant only helped a little" I explained
Josh: I sighed and said, "I guess you're right, how long until I'm fully recovered?"
Sally: "I would think you would be able to walk normally in a couple of days, but it will take a few weeks to be 100 percent," I explained
Josh: "I understand" I said with a sigh
Catalina: "What's wrong?" I asked curiously
Josh: "I'll be a burden for a while," I said sadly
Catalina: "Don't say that, you won't be a burden" I said trying to cheer him up
Jhosh: "Thank you for saying that, but we are in the middle of a confrontation with the sigmas, I know that every wolf with the ability to fight is needed to survive this" I said with concern
Catalina: "Don't worry about it, we managed to buy some time, so you can recover" I said
Josh: "What happened?" I asked, curious about her statement
Catalina: I explained the current situation with the Sigmas, although I left out everything related to the society of shadows, I imagined that Humphrey preferred to keep all that information secret, while he managed to find out something more
Josh: "I see," I said thoughtfully, "Do you think we can trust them?" I asked
Catalina: "I don't know that," I said, shaking my head. "But at least they have planted doubt in their minds and at least it should give us time," I said
Jhosh: "I understand" I said nodding
Catalina: "And what do you think of my past?" I asked a little worried
Josh: "What do you mean?" I asked, not understanding the question
Catalina: "About the fact that it is possible that I am a sigma, it is more the legitimate heir of the sigmas" I said with concern
Josh: "That doesn't change anything, you're still our companion and friend, with whom we've lived through many things since we were puppies, you're still our Catalina" I said smiling
Catalina: "I'm very happy to hear you say that," I said happily and calmly. At that moment, I saw the two puppies that had fallen asleep next to him and I asked, "What do you plan to do with them?"
Josh: "You've been through a lot and I wish you had a quieter and better life here," I said
Catalina: "You know I didn't mean that," I said
Josh: I sighed and said, "I know and I'm not sure, I know they've grown fond of me and I've grown fond of them too, but I don't think I'm what they need"
Catalina: "Why do you say that?" I asked curiously
Jhosh: "They need a family and I don't know if I can be that for them" I said with a little sadness
Catalina: "I still don't understand why you think you can't be that for them," I said, confused
Jhosh: "I don't know if I can be a father to them, I don't think I'm ready, not to mention that our lives are very dangerous now, especially with the Sigmas back, one day I simply wouldn't be able to come back and they would be alone again, I don't want them to have to go through that again" I explained with sadness and concern
Catalina: "I understand your fears and it is true that we have dangerous lives, but we will always strive to return, and you are not alone, you know that we support each other and about the first thing, it is true that it is not something that you expected, but if you really love those puppies, I know that you can play that role" I told her with a confident smile
Josh: "Do you really believe that?" I asked
Catalina: "Of course I believe that, I know you would be a good father, you are a kind person who cares about others" I said smiling
Josh: "Thanks, it means a lot coming from you" I said smiling
Catalina: I smiled at him and gave her a him on the cheek
A couple of days later Humphrey was talking to the three elite alphas
Humphrey: "I'm glad you're all feeling better now," I said, smiling
Josh: "It still hurts to move though" I said as I stretched, my muscles were stiff after so many days of rest without being able to move much
Humphrey: "I imagine that part of recovery isn't easy," I said, remembering when I had to go through that process when I was injured on a mission
Josh: "It's not, but it's better than sitting still all day," I said, smiling
Humphrey: "That's true," I said, nodding
Scoot: "I imagine you brought us together to talk about what we should do," I said
Humphrey: "That's right," I said, nodding. "As you know, we've managed to get a few days of peace thanks to Catalina, which I wanted to take advantage of to recover and plan what we're going to do." I explained
Scoot: "What exactly do you think we should do?" I asked
Humphrey: "Given the new information we have obtained, it is best to try to reach a peace agreement with the Sigmas, at this point there are not many reasons to continue an old war" I said
Catalina: "Although I like that idea, we cannot assume that the Sigmas would accept it easily, or that they all agree, we know that there are several internal factions among them and some of them may reveal" I said
Scoot: "In both cases we would be winning, if we achieve peace, it would be the ideal case, but if there is an internal conflict we could take advantage, either to support the side that suits us best and finish off the troublemakers, or let them weaken so we can deliver the coup de grace once and for all" I said
Catalina: "I understand your point of view, but I don't like that last suggestion, we would only be perpetuating this hatred and conflict further" I said somewhat annoyed
Scoot: "I understand your point of view, but in the end, we must prioritize ourselves and our families, if there is an opportunity to keep everyone safe, we should not hesitate and we have to take it" I said
Catalina: "At what cost?" I asked seriously, "We must not take the easy path, we must take the best path, for everyone" I said seriously
Humphrey: "Alright, you two calm down," I said seriously when I saw that the argument was beginning to escalate
"Sorry" they both said in time
Humphrey: "I understand both sides' point of view, but we must not lose sight of the real objective," I said seriously
Josh: "What goal?" I asked curiously
Humphrey: "Maintain our peace and end the shadow society" I said seriously
Josh: "The shadow society? Aren't they just a legend?" I asked confused
Humphrey: "Unfortunately not, they are very real, and they are responsible for the war between the Alpha Elite and the Sigmas, as well as its terrible outcome" I explained
Scoot: "Do you have proof of that?" I asked seriously
Humphrey: "Several testimonies from different sources, both the information that Catalina obtained and the information I obtained during Delta's training, indicate that they are real and guilty of what happened" I explained
Scoot: "Can we trust that information?" I asked
Humphrey: I was surprised by how skeptical Scoot was, "I'm not entirely sure, but it's certainly curious that different sources point to the same conclusion, it's something we shouldn't ignore" I said
Josh: "That's true, it's something we should at least investigate" I said
Scoot: I sighed and I said, "I don't want to hunt ghosts, we should focus on the real problem which is the Sigmas"
Catalina: "How can you say that? Don't you believe us? They are the ones who really caused everything?" I said, annoyed
Scoot: "It's not to offend you or anything, it's just very hard to believe that they could just be lies to distract us from what's important" I explained
Catalina: "I know it's hard to believe, but everything points to it being true and it's something we shouldn't ignore," I said
Josh: "I agree, no matter how impossible it sounds, we should at least investigate and be aware of that possibility, we should not be overconfident" I said nodding
Scoot: I sighed and I said, "If we had the resources to spare, I would agree with you, but there are only four of us, we cannot afford to waste our time investigating a simple legend"
Humphrey: "Stop arguing," I said seriously
The three of them immediately fell silent
Humphrey: "We will continue with the next phase of the blue code anyway," I said
Scoot: "Sounds good to me, so we'll be ready for the showdown with the Sigmas," I said, nodding
Catalina: "Those resources will be valuable in confronting the shadow society," I said, nodding
Humphrey: "It doesn't matter what they are for, what we are all clear about is that we need it" I said quickly before they started arguing again
Jhosh: "How will we implement it?" I asked
Humphrey: "We must divide again, this time I will stay in the pack to defend it and get its attention, while you will collect the relics in the assigned places, I already sent a message to our allies, so they will be waiting for you, it also seems that they will send some reinforcements" I explained
Josh: "How many places is that?" I asked
Humphrey: "Two, one in the northern mountains, and the other in the eastern valleys, should go and return in less than a week" I explained
Scoot: "Does that mean one of us will go alone?" I asked
Humphrey: I shook my head and said, "No, everyone will go alone, there is a third mission that Catalina must go on"
Catalina: "What mission?" I asked curiously
Humphrey: "You will have to return to Rosa's pack, and go for what you found" I explained
Catalina: "Wait, although I believe where that is, I can't get there alone, I need help" I said quickly
Humphrey: I thought for a moment and said, "Then you will stay here while Jhosh and Scoot take care of bringing the reinforcements and the artifacts, when they return, I will go with you to Rosa's pack"
Catalina: "I understand, that sounds good to me," I said, nodding
Scoot: "It will take us a little longer than planned, but it is the best option" I said, nodding
Jhosh: "I'm quite relieved that Catalina doesn't have to travel alone, so I agree too," I said, nodding
Humphrey: "I'm glad you agree, so get ready because you'll be leaving tomorrow," I said
The three wolves nodded and were about to leave until Humphrey called Catalina
Humphrey: "Catalina, can we talk about something else?" I asked
Catalina: "Sure," I said, nodding, then I turned to Jhosh and said, "I'll catch up with you in a minute"
Josh: "Okay, I'll wait for you in the cave" I said, nodding
Catalina: Once the others left, I asked, "What do you want to talk about?"
Humphrey: "What do you think of Scott's reaction?" I asked
Catalina: "I didn't like his reaction at all" I said annoyed
Humphrey: "It was obvious," I said, nodding
Catalina: "So why do you ask?" I asked confused
Humphrey: "Didn't you notice anything strange?" I asked
Catalina: "Strange? In what sense?" I asked
Humphrey: "Surprised and worried, as if he didn't want us to talk about that subject" I explained
Catalina: "Why didn't he want that?" I asked
Humphrey: "I don't know that, but that was the impression I got," I said
Catalina: "Coming to think of it, I had never seen him so blunt about a subject, it was a resounding no, don't even consider it" I said thoughtfully
Humphrey: "Could it be possible that he is hiding something from us?" I asked
Catalina: "It wouldn't be the first time; I hide everything about my past" I said
Humphrey: "For the moment let's avoid talking more about the shadow society in front of him, at least until we have something more concrete" I said
Catalina: "I guess it's for the best; the last thing we need is a fight between us" I said nodding
Humphrey: "Exactly" I said nodding
Catalina: "I understand" I said nodding
Humphrey: "Well, that was all, you can go now" I said
Catalina: I nodded and went to look for Josh
Humphrey: When I was left alone, I sighed, "Why do things just keep getting more complicated?" I asked myself
What is Scoot hiding? What will happen to the Delta pack? Will they be able to face the challenges that lie ahead? Keep reading to find out. Don't forget to write a review of what you think of the story so far.
