Chapter 11: Sparky to the Rescue
Resting at the Colonel and his subordinate's barn, Peter smiled at Pongo and Perdita's happy reunion. He then turned to his Hispanic-American friend as she took her mask off.
Peter: Hey, Ava. Been awhile hasn't?
Ava: Yeah. It's been a couple of years since I was in New York, tracking those illegal animal dealers.
Peter: Yeah… (Offering a handshake) Great to have you by my side.
Ava shook Peter's hand. She then saw Wanda hugging Sora.
Wanda: (Hugging) Sora, I was so worried.
Sora hugged Wanda, having been scared the whole time he was in de Vil manor. Wanda stopped and took noticed of the girl. Wanda walked up to her.
Wanda: Hello, what's your name?
The girl looked at Wanda while hugging her plush toy. She shook her head, silently saying she couldn't say. Wanda then felt Sora tugging her cape.
Sora: (Having some military dog tags in his hands) These were with her when we were in the big house.
Wanda looked at them and read what was on them.
Wanda: X-23: Adamantium bones, Healing Factor, Wolverine Clone L. (Gently to the girl) You're all alone, aren't you?
The girl whimpered as she hugged her bunny plushie. Wanda picked her and hugged her.
Wanda: Don't worry. Me and Peter will take of you. How about we call you Laura.
The newly named Laura nodded on the name. Wanda and the others walked over to the Dalmatian family.
Peter: Doom, you were last one out. Everyone accounted for.
Pongo: Yes, is everyone here?
Doom: Uh, about that…
Before Doom could explain, Pongo's son, Patch, spoke up.
Patch: Twice as many, dad. Now there's 99 of us.
Pongo: (Stunned) What? 99?
Everyone saw 84 extra Dalmatian puppies sitting on hay bales.
Wanda: Why would anyone need these many puppies?
Puppy #4: She's gonna make coats out of us.
Wanda gasped in horror but Peter was unphased. He was disgusted by it when he was watching the movie, he's just as disgusted now he's actually seeing it happen. Tibbs walked over to Colonel.
Tibbs: (Saluting) That's right, sir. Dog-skin coats.
Colonel was about to dismiss it but Doom and Ava walked up.
Doom: It's true, sir. As acting field officer, I can vouch for the Sergeant's statement.
Ava: He's right.
Colonel: (Sigh) This is grim news.
Perdita: She's a devil! A witch! What do we do?
Sora whimpered and hugged Rover, not wanting his friend to get hurt. Peter saw Sora bring out the pouch that had Sparky's pod in it.
Peter: (Kneeling to his eye level) Nothing bad will happen to Rover, Sport. I promise.
Pongo: Peter's right. We have to get back to London somehow.
Patch: What about the others? What'll they do?
The 84 Dalmatian puppies sit there on the hay bales, wondering about their fate, until Pongo makes his decision.
Pongo:(Judiciously)Perdy, we'll take them home with us; all of them. Our pets would never turn them out.
Wanda eyed Peter confused as to why dogs thought humans were their pets.
Peter: (Knowing what she was thinking) Don't think about it.
Suddenly, Peter's mask flashed in alert, so he put it on.
Karen: Peter, I'm detecting a moving vehicle heading this way.
Peter: Karen said we got company.
The horse, Captain, looked outside and a car coming.
Ava: Horce and Jasper?!
Tibbs: They must've followed our tracks.
Colonel: Well, we've got them outnumbered, Tibbs. (To Ava) You've done your job, Agent Tiger. You're dismissed.
Ava: (Saluting) It was an honor, sir.
Pongo: We best get moving. (To Peter and company) All of you better come with us.
Tibbs: Take the back way out. Across the pasture.
Wanda didn't want to lose Laura. Spotting an old horse saddle, she used her powers to transform it into a child carrier. Peter picked Laura and set her inside. Peter, Doom, and Ava got onto Pongo while Wanda and the kids got onto Perdita. Thanking the Colonel and his men, everyone made their escape out the back. Sora shivered at the cold. Having been raised on a tropical paradise, Sora didn't exactly have any regular exposure to the cold.
Sora: (Shivering) Cold…
Wanda braced him between her and Perdita's fur for warmth. Unfortunately, their escape didn't go unnoticed. Horce and Jasper found their tracks and followed. Luckily, the Dalmatian family and passengers came to a bridge and hid underneath it.
Wanda: (Quietly) Are you sure they won't find us.
Spider-Man: (Quietly) If I remember correctly, they should be leaving any minute.
Like clockwork, the bumbling lackeys drove off without searching the frozen river.
Pongo: All clear, everyone. All clear.
Walking along the frozen river, some of the puppies slip and slide along the ice. Pongo's son, Lucky, spoke up.
Lucky: My feet are slippery. I wish we can walk on the snow.
Pongo: (Picking his son up with his mouth) No, son, we can't leave tracks.
While Horce and Jasper were dumb enough not to check the frozen river, Kraven wasn't far behind.
Kraven: (Spotting them) Very clever, my prey.
Kraven could feel the Heartless wanting to be summoned but refused to let them come. Next morning came and Cruella joined the search. Meanwhile, a heavy snowstorm hit the group hard. Wanda used her powers to given everyone winter clothes but the storm was strong. Forcing their way through the storm, they managed to meet up with a Collie that was looking for the group. He lead them to a Dairy Barn.
Ava: (Taking her mask off when they were inside) Thank goodness. I thought I was going to turn into an icicle.
Wanda: (Unwrapping Sora and Laura from her cape) Are you both okay?
Sora and Laura nodded while shivering a bit.
Pongo: (To Peter) You best get Sora and Laura something to eat.
Peter: Yeah, I don't think Cow Milk will help them. (To the Cows above him) No offense, ladies.
The Cows all agreed no offense taken. Lucky, Doom packed enough for the group in his bag.
Doom: (As Wanda fed the kids) What's the plan, sir?
Peter: We stay with Pongo and his family. Once we get them home, we'll start looking for the Rift.
Ava: Mind filling me on what's going on?
Peter: Sure.
Filling in his friend on what's going on, Ava was stunned that Wolf Spider was alive and wanted to kidnap such an innocent child.
Ava: (As everyone started falling asleep) Any ideas why your evil doppelganger wants Sora?
Peter: None. Merlin hasn't had any luck figuring that out either.
Ava: We better get some sleep.
Agreeing, Peter took a place near Wanda and the kids and fell asleep. Unbeknownst to the Collie standing guard, Karven snuck in through the ceiling window.
Kraven: (Seeing the now adult Ava) My, my, my… How much time has passed. (Quietly walking to Sora) I'll get the Power of the Tiger later. (Reaching for the boy) For now, I want him.
Just before could grab Sora, everyone woke up to him screaming in pain. Quickly, Peter put his mask on. Spider-Man looked and saw Kraven with a fresh, two-slashed claw mark across his face. He looked down and saw Laura having two steel claws out in here fist like Wolverine.
White Tiger: KRAVEN?! (Seeing he hasn't aged a day) But how?!
Kraven: My benefactor, Wolf Spider, brought me here and hired me to take the boy. Even gave me the power to go unnoticed to the Spider's senses.
Spider-Man: (Summoning the Wayward Wind) Like we're going to let that happen.
Pongo: (Figuring out Kraven is an enemy) Perdy, keep the kids safe. I'll help them fight.
Perdita took Sora and Laura then directed her puppies to safety.
Pongo: Want some help?
Spider-Man: Thanks.
Spider-Man rushed at Kraven and attacked with Wayward Wind but blocked it with his spear.
Kraven: (As Spider-Man attacked) Peter, I'm detecting Rift energy inside Kraven's spear.
Spider-Man: Guys, get me that spear!
Spider-Man jumped back and let White Tiger pounced and tackled her father's killer but he threw her off and into the wall. Doom started open firing on him but he dodged every shot and kicked Doom down. Growling, Pongo lunged at Kraven but he just threw him into a hay bale. Scarlet Witch used her powers to levitated large pieces of wood from the floorboard and launched it at the hunter. Standing firm, Kraven used his spear to deflect every projectile that came at him.
Scarlet Witch: (Drawing Kitetsu) Okay, I've had enough of this Dai Shi clan reject!
Eyeing Scarlet Witch oddly, Spider-Man joined her with the others joining the fight. Sora peeked from the stable he was hiding and saw Kraven handling the fight well. Sora brought out the experiment pod and saw a barrel with water in it. Sora got his slingshot, loaded the pod into it, and fired it. The pod sped past everyone and landed perfectly into the water. Spider-Man saw the activation glow nearby and figured out what Sora did but focused on the fight. Sparky climbed out of the barrel and shook himself dry. Sparky then noticed Kraven tossing the heroes around and decided to help. Spider-Man watched as Sparky turned into electricity and jumped into the Wayward Wind to give it electric charge.
Kraven: (Strangling White Tiger with one hand) I planned to take the boy first then come after your power… (Tighten his grip) But I guess I'll do it in reverse.
Spider-Man: (Rushing) Not on my watch, Tarzan!
Swinging on a web-line, Spider-Man hit his electrified weapon square in Kraven's face. The charge was powerful enough to be an extremely powerful taser, making him let go of White Tiger. Kraven staggered as White Tiger got up.
White Tiger: This is for my father!
With all her strength, White Tiger punched Kraven hard right in his face. Kraven fell back and hit his head on the ground, knocking him out. Everyone panted in exhaustion from the fight. Spider-Man picked up the spear and slammed it onto the ground to break it. The Rift emerged from the spear and Spider-Man used his Keyblade to seal it. Scarlet Witch saw Sora with his slingshot in his hands. She pieced together what he did. Sora whimpered thinking she was going to scold him, but she just smiled.
Wanda: (Raising her visor) It was an emergency.
Sparky jumped out of the Wayward Wind.
Sparky: Friends?
Spider-Man: Yeah, friends.
Laura walked up and everyone saw her claws.
White Tiger: She Wolverine's daughter or something?
Spider-Man: I'm not sure.
Pongo: What are we going to do with him?
Spider-Man shot his webs at Kraven and wrapped him up.
Spider-Man: Doom, take him to our ride. We can't take him with us.
Wanda: Maybe I can make sure he doesn't escape.
Using her powers, Wanda managed to turn the Spider-Man's web wrapping into titanium cables. Doom dragged Kraven outside and used his communicator to call for a pick-up. Soon CH-33P remotely piloted the Phantom fighter to come Doom loaded Kraven on board and retrained him to a passenger seat.
Doom: Thanks, Cheep.
CH-33P beeped in gratitude and flew the fighter back to the Ghost. Doom went back and decided to get some rest the others. Peter went back to where Wanda and the kids were.
Peter: Dai Shi clan reject?
Wanda: For a time, daddy only let me watch old sitcoms shows. They were nice but I wanted to watch shows that showed heroes winning fights. He me the entire Power Ranger collection for me to watch. My brother wasn't interested in it but I loved it. When I was training with my powers, I would try to copy their moves. I got really good. I also got plenty of laughs out of the comedy part.
Wanda thought Peter was going to tease her, instead he smiled.
Peter: Bulk and Skull were good for a laugh.
Wanda smiled, feeling good about herself. Everyone went to sleep, hoping there wasn't going to be any more excitement till tomorrow morning.
