Chapter 17: Lost in Language
Hey everyone! I'm back with a new chapter! I have some surprises in store for this one, so sit back, relax, review, and enjoy!
We find ourselves in the Owl House, where Luz is reading to King from her Azura book, while Jake is reading a comic book to Stitch.
"Our paths have crossed only in battle. But today, I stand before you seeking an ally," Luz read aloud before sighing.
"Luz, you're getting all swoony again," King said.
"I can't help it. Azura is able to befriend everyone, even her biggest rival. I wish I had that kind of power," Luz said.
"You have friends, Luz. You've got me, Stitch, Willow, Gus, and Marina—not to mention King, Finn, Asher, and Eda," Jake pointed out, as Stitch tugged on his arm, trying to get him to continue reading.
"Rivals are meant to be annihilated, not befriended," King remarked.
"Hey, what comic book are you reading now?" Luz asked as Jake held it up.
Jake held up the comic book for Luz to see. "It's a *Ben 10* issue. Stitch really likes it," he said with a grin as Stitch nodded enthusiastically, wagging his tail.
"Ben 10? Is that the one with the kid who turns into different aliens?" Luz asked, intrigued.
"Yeah, it's pretty cool. He has this watch that lets him transform into all kinds of creatures," Jake explained, flipping through the pages. "Stitch thinks he's like Ben because of how strong and adaptable he is."
Stitch puffed out his chest proudly. "Ih! Stitch strong! Like Ben!" he said, mimicking one of the poses from the comic.
Luz chuckled. "I can see that. You'd totally fit in with Ben's team."
King, however, huffed. "Please, I could defeat Ben 10 in my sleep. I'm King of Demons! No alien could stand a chance against me."
Jake raised an eyebrow. "Uh-huh, sure, King. I'm sure you'd totally annihilate a guy with over ten alien forms, each with different powers."
King crossed his tiny arms. "Exactly! That's the spirit of a true rival—utter annihilation."
Luz laughed, shaking her head. "Maybe we can start by *not* annihilating people. Friendship works too, right?"
"Well, when Ben's fighting aliens, friendship usually comes after a big battle," Jake pointed out. "So maybe a little of both."
Stitch tugged on Jake's sleeve, pointing back to the comic. "More story! Stitch wanna see what happens next!"
"Alright, alright," Jake laughed, turning back to the comic as Luz leaned closer to listen, curious now about Ben's latest adventure.
"Maybe next time, King can befriend some rivals instead of trying to destroy them," Luz teased, giving him a playful nudge.
King huffed. "I'll think about it... but no promises."
Suddenly, the door swung open.
"Ding-dong. Ding. Hoot! Hoot!" Hooty announced.
Luz walked over and saw a basket by the door. "Eda, you got a package. Looks like a gift basket," she said, carrying it into the kitchen and setting it down.
"Probably an offering. Ah, being the most powerful witch in the Boiling Isles has its perks," Eda grinned.
Pulling back the blanket, King saw a small bat-like baby demon creature sleeping peacefully.
"Mmm, fresh meat," King said with a grin.
Hearing "fresh meat," Stitch tried to rush over to it, but Jake quickly grabbed him by the scruff of his fur.
"Don't even think about it," Jake warned, glaring down at Stitch, who gave him a sheepish grin.
Jake and Stitch walked over to look down at the basket. "Yeah, there's no way I'm cooking or eating that. Besides, I just learned how to cook, and those are literally babies," Jake said, crossing his arms. Stitch pouted in response.
"Witches and wizards eating babies is so... 1693. What is this?" Eda asked, noticing a note.
"There's a note. 'Take care of my child until morning. Yi Yi,'" King read aloud.
"Nope. Babies are awful. Not happening," Eda declared.
"'You will be handsomely rewarded. XOXOXO. Bat Queen,'" King continued reading.
"Bat Queen?" Eda asked, suddenly interested. King pulled out some coins from the basket.
"Reward?" Eda's eyes lit up.
"Who's the Bat Queen?" Luz asked.
"She's the wealthiest demon in the Boiling Isles. Get in with her, and you're set for life. So, we keep this thing alive for a few hours, and we get paid. Easy," Eda smirked.
"I don't know, Eda. Kids can be difficult," Jake said, recalling his babysitting experiences with his baby cousins.
"Our greatest adventure yet! Learning about love and life through a child's eyes," Luz said, beaming.
"Not you. You three have to return the books I checked out from the library," Eda said, casting a magic circle. Suddenly, a pile of books dropped into Luz, Jake, and Stitch's arms.
"Whoa!" Luz and Jake exclaimed, struggling to balance them, while Stitch had no trouble at all.
"I don't want them getting a cut of the loot," Eda whispered to King.
"Good thinking," King grinned.
"Now, let's take a look at this little darling," Eda said, pulling back the blanket. But almost immediately, the Bat Baby let out a loud shriek, causing everyone to cover their ears in pain.
"On second thought, maybe we could use your help!" Eda called out.
"Sorry, we're off to the library!" Luz shouted back.
Stitch quickly took the books from Luz and Jake's hands. "Hi!" he said cheerfully.
"Good luck!" Jake yelled as they walked out the door.
"We got this, right?" Eda asked King nervously. The Bat Baby suddenly flew out of the basket and knocked her to the ground.
Finn and Asher were nearby when they heard the loud noise. Curious, they looked up to see their aunt, Eda, sprawled on the ground with a crying bat baby fluttering around.
"Aunt Eda?" Finn called out, rushing over with Asher by his side. "What happened?"
Eda sat up, rubbing her head as she glanced at her nephews. "Oh, hey, boys. No big deal. Just a tiny, adorable *bat baby* throwing a tantrum."
"That... doesn't sound like 'no big deal,'" Asher said, eyeing the bat baby as it flew in circles, screeching.
Finn tilted his head, staring at the bat creature. "Is that... a baby demon?"
"Yep, straight from the Bat Queen herself," Eda replied, grinning despite the chaos. "And I need you two to help me keep it alive for the night."
Asher raised an eyebrow. "Why does it sound like you might've made a deal?"
Eda chuckled nervously. "Well... there *is* a hefty reward involved. Help me out, and maybe I'll share a bit of the prize with you two. Deal?"
Finn and Asher exchanged looks before Finn sighed. "Fine, Aunt Eda. We'll help. But what are we supposed to do with a crying bat baby?"
Eda smiled, standing up and brushing herself off. "Just distract it while I try to figure out how to calm it down."
"Sure, because distracting a baby demon sounds easy," Asher muttered sarcastically.
With a mischievous grin, Finn took out a small enchanted trinket from his pocket. "Maybe we can use this to catch its attention."
As the bat baby continued crying and flying around, Finn tossed the trinket into the air. It shimmered with magical light, creating a sparkling trail. The bat baby's screeching quieted as it stopped midair, its wide eyes fixed on the glowing object.
"There, see?" Finn said with a smirk. "Distraction 101."
Asher chuckled. "Nice one. Now let's hope Aunt Eda figures out the rest before this thing goes wild again."
Eda, watching the bat baby settle down, flashed a grateful smile. "You two are lifesavers! Now, let me get this little menace back in the basket before it decides to unleash another sonic screech."
Walking into town, Luz, Jake, and Stitch stared in awe at the giant library.
"Whoa /Eegalagoo," Jake, Stitch, and Luz exclaimed together.
"Okay, Stitch, we're totally coming back here later," Jake said, and Stitch nodded in agreement. As they entered, the librarian used magic to bring all the books over almost immediately.
"Late. Late," the librarian muttered, examining one. "Coffee, grass, and... bloodstains? These must be Eda's, huh?"
"That was a crazy night," Luz said, causing the librarian to sigh.
"I'll put them on her tab. By the way, we're closing early for the Wailing Star meteor shower," he informed them.
"What's that?" Jake asked.
"You're in a library. Read a book," the librarian said, gesturing to the shelves around them.
"I *am* in a library. I *will* read a book!" Luz said excitedly before being shushed.
"Sorry!" Jake said, dragging her away as Stitch followed behind them.
As they walked around, Luz noticed a demon decimal system. Bending down, she pulled out a piece of candy to feed it, but it burped up a pile of decimal cards all over her.
Continuing through the library, they saw several floating books. Grinning, Luz reached out to grab one but ended up being pulled up instead.
"Aaah! Jake! Stitch! The books have me!" Luz screamed.
"Luz!" Jake yelled, grabbing her leg, only to get yanked up with her. Stitch tried to help, but he got pulled up too.
"Shush!" someone said.
"Sorry /Soka," they all mumbled in unison.
After finding a spot to let go, they landed near the reference section, where people were watching videos on crystal balls.
"This place is amazing," Luz said, eyes wide with excitement.
"I'm definitely coming back here again, right, Stitch?" Jake said, glancing down to see Stitch trying to figure out how the crystal ball worked.
Suddenly, a familiar voice startled them. "What are you doing here?"
"Aah! We've been caught!" Luz said, hiding behind Jake and Stitch. They froze when they suddenly heard laughter.
"Wait a minute..." Jake and Stitch followed the sound of laughter, with Luz right behind them. They entered the kids' area and saw Amity reading a book to a group of young children.
"'We're your friends, and we want to help,' said the Tin Boy with a yelp. Otabin smiled and paced the floor. 'I've never had real friends before,'" Amity read softly.
"Amity... reading to kids?" Luz whispered, peeking out from behind the shelves.
The three of them snuck in and hid behind the graphic novels, watching in quiet amazement.
"'Then we'll be your first,' the Chicken Witch clucked. Otabin couldn't believe his luck. So, Bookmaker Otabin, surrounded by friends, bound a book of friendship, and that's the end," Amity said, closing the book as the kids cheered.
"Wow, I didn't know Amity could be nice," Jake said while Stitch and Luz gasped.
"Naga Ika patooka," Stitch said with a smile.
"Maybe we can befriend her, like Azura befriended her rival," Luz said hopefully.
"She's coming this way!" Jake warned, and they quickly ducked down just as the kids ran past them.
"Thank you so much!" one kid said, and a red demon kid hugged Amity.
"Good-bye, Miss Amity. Thank you," the kid said in a deep voice.
"Thank you, Braxus. See you next time," Amity smiled as Braxus ran off, but she spotted Luz, Stitch, and Jake nearby. "Ugh, it's you three."
"Hey, Amity! Wow, I didn't know you read to kids," Jake said as they stood up.
"Looks like this sour lemon drop has a hidden sweet center," Luz teased.
"It's for extra credit. Don't get your leggings in a bunch," Amity said, putting the book back.
"Hey, Jake and I could help you read to the kids. You should hear Jake's monster voice, and Stitch is great at acting like a monster," Luz offered.
"It's very true," Jake said in a dark tone as Stitch pretended to be a big monster.
"Ooh, spooky!" Luz giggled.
"Luz, Jake, Stitch—do you see me going to the Owl Shack and bugging you while you... fry up owls?" Amity asked.
"What are you talking about? I thought we were good, you know, after that battle, and I showed you my true power. And you apologized after the whole con thing with the experiments Stitch and I had to fight," Jake said.
"Okay, I don't really know what you do there, but every time you three come near me, I get in trouble. Just leave me alone. And Jake, I *know* I said I'd help you with the whole alien-Stitch-experiment-whatever thing, but right now I need to get some stuff done," Amity said firmly.
"Oh, sorry. We'll go," Jake said.
"So much for that," Luz sighed as they walked out.
"Hey, don't let her get to you three." Looking over, they saw two older teens, a boy and a girl with green hair and light blue sleeves. These were Edric and Emira.
"Who are you?" Luz asked.
"Well-wishers on a mission," Edric said.
"A noble quest," Emira added with a smile.
"Watch this. Hey, Mittens!" Edric called out, causing Amity to turn red with embarrassment. "Mom says to stop forgetting your lunch," he said, holding up a lunch box as Amity approached. "And stop being a jerk to your friends."
"They're not my friends," Amity muttered.
"Yeah, that makes sense. I mean, no way you could ever hang out with people this cool," Emira teased, moving closer to Luz, Stitch, and Jake.
"We're cool?" Luz asked, surprised.
"You can leave now. All of you," Amity said, taking her lunch and walking away.
Luz and Jake exchanged glances as they saw Edric and Emira wink at them before walking to another part of the library. Stitch, meanwhile, followed after Amity.
"I'm Emira, and this is Edric. We're Amity's older siblings. We heard how you embarrassed her at school and at the Witch Convention last week. No wonder she hates you two... and the fluffy blue one," Emira said.
"Yeah, I thought we were as cool as cucumbers, but it turns out we're as sour as pickles," Luz added with a sigh.
"It's not like we do it on purpose," Jake said.
Meanwhile, Stitch finally caught up to Amity, tugging on her sleeve to get her attention.
"What do you want, Stitch?" Amity asked, trying to sound annoyed but softening slightly at his persistence.
"Why you mad? Ika patooka (We're friends)," Stitch said, tilting his head with a curious look.
Amity sighed, crossing her arms. "I'm not mad... just—" She hesitated for a moment, glancing at Stitch. "I don't get why you, Jake, and Luz keep trying. After everything, it's like you don't understand how things work here. You don't fit in."
Stitch frowned and gave her a small growl of disapproval. "Friends always fit in, 'ohana.'"
"That's easy for you to say," Amity replied, looking away. "You're... different. But things are more complicated for me. I have expectations to live up to."
Stitch paused, considering her words. "Amity Naga alone. Luz, Jake, and me—ohana. We help. No need be alone."
Amity glanced at him, her tough exterior cracking slightly as she sighed again. "You really don't give up, do you?"
Stitch grinned, shaking his head with enthusiasm. "Naga!"
Amity smiled faintly, her defenses lowering just a bit. "Alright, alright. But don't think this makes us best friends or anything. I'm just... tolerating you."
Stitch beamed, nodding with excitement. "Good start!"
Amity chuckled softly, shaking her head. "You're impossible, Stitch."
With that, she walked back toward the others, Stitch happily trailing behind her, feeling like he'd made a small breakthrough with the guarded witch.
Meanwhile, Jake and Luz finished talking to the twins.
"Great. Meet back here at midnight. See you later," Edric said as they walked away.
"Wow, those two are really cool. I can't believe they're Amity's siblings," Jake said.
"This is perfect! First, we befriend the siblings, then we befriend Amity," Luz said excitedly.
"Well, let's go grab our stuff," Jake said as they walked away.
Nearby, Stitch and Amity walked over and overheard the whole conversation, causing Amity to growl and hold her breath in frustration. Stitch noticed her face turning red and stopped her before she almost passed out.
"Whoo. Almost passed out," Amity gasped, catching her breath.
"Thanks, Stitch," she said as he gave her a thumbs-up before running back over to Jake and Luz.
Back at the Owl House, the Bat Baby stopped crying as Finn and Asher were taking care of it while Eda and King watched from the side.
"Free labor, the best in the world," King said, sipping on juice.
"How's it going over there, boys?" Eda asked, glancing over at her nephews.
"Yeah, it's fine," Finn said, rocking the Bat Baby back and forth.
"If by helping you mean making us do all the work," Asher muttered.
Suddenly, the Bat Baby spit out a smaller sibling, and soon after, two more appeared, making a total of three Bat Babies.
"Hey guys, how's the babysitting going?" Jake asked, walking in, only to spot the additional Bat Babies. Before Luz or Stitch could enter, he quickly pushed them back outside.
"Yeah, we're staying at the library overnight. Let's go," Jake said, grabbing Stitch and Luz by the hands and pulling them away, heading back toward the library.
Meanwhile, back inside, one of the Bat Babies flapped its wings and breathed fire, causing panic.
"Uh, for the money?" King asked nervously.
"For the money," Eda sighed, as they both ducked to dodge some flying slime.
"Oh, now you guys want to help!" Finn said, using his wind magic to avoid another slime attack.
"Family of the year!" Asher yelled, hiding behind the couch.
Later that night, Luz, Stitch, and Jake were waiting in front of the library for Edric and Emira.
"Okay, just act cool... cool... cool," Luz said, striking various poses.
"Uh, maybe we shouldn't do that, Luz," Jake suggested, with Stitch nodding in agreement.
"Yuuga taba us yuuga toobaga," Stitch mumbled, just as Emira and Edric snuck up behind them.
"Why not? I say keep going," Emira said, startling them.
Across from them, they saw Emira and Edric smiling and giggling at their antics.
"How long were you there?" Jake asked, as Stitch jumped into his arms.
"Long enough," they replied with a grin, walking towards the door.
"You guys ready to bring this whole whatever-you're-doing inside?" Edric asked as they nodded. "It says no trespassing, but I'm allergic to rules."
"And dairy," Emira added.
"Wow, okay. Just expose me," Edric said, causing them to laugh as Emira placed a scroll on the lock, opening it.
"Cool," Luz said.
"Eegalagoo," Jake added, with Stitch grabbing Jake's backpack before they followed them inside.
Standing in the dimly lit lobby, Luz looked around. "You guys know how to party."
"Look, the Wailing Star!" Edric pointed to the window, and they saw a sobbing star fly past the stained glass.
"Hmm, nothing happened," Jake said, while Stitch ran over, grabbed a book from the shelf, and shook it. Still, nothing happened.
"Wait, look!" Luz pointed out, showing the books on the shelves glowing green. "The books are all glowy!" She opened one, and multiple birds flew out from the pages.
"Wow, the Wailing Star magicked the books to life!" Edric said as Luz closed the book, making the birds disappear.
"And when you close the book, whatever you release goes back into it," Jake realized. He looked over to the book Stitch was still shaking, which started glowing green as well. Something fell out of the book Stitch had—he picked it up, and it was a giant sword. Stitch grinned.
Seeing this, all five of them smiled at the fun they were about to have.
As jake put his backpack down he didn't notice a green light coming from his bag.
At the magazine rack, Edric opened one called Regal Couture, and he and Emira ended up in super fancy outfits, complete with a peacock.
Next to them, Luz opened one called Witch Ware Weekly, and when she did, Jake's outfit transformed into a sort of steampunk style, complete with multiple gears, a top hat, and a cane. Stitch had a black T-shirt with spikes on the wristbands and shades, while Luz wore an adventurer's outfit with a giant sword that made her fall to the ground due to its weight.
"Luz, are you okay?" Jake asked.
"You make walking around with a sword on your back look easy," Luz groaned as Stitch grabbed the sword from her, holding up his two swords.
Next, they went to the graphic novels.
When Jake opened one, expecting a hero to pop out, nothing happened.
"Nothing happened," Jake said, when a giant speech bubble appeared above him, echoing his words.
Gasping, Edric and Emira looked up. "Wow!" they exclaimed as speech bubbles appeared above them too.
Soon, the five of them were running around with The History of Snowballs, engaging in an imaginary snowball fight with the books.
As Luz passed by the kids' section, she spotted the Otabin book. Slowly opening it, she saw the cute little creature smiling at her.
"Eat snow, Evans!" Edric shouted, blasting Jake down the hall with a fake snowball.
"Ugh, okay, okay," Jake muttered, then noticed his backpack glowing. "Whoa."
Slowly walking over, he opened it to see the glow coming from his comic book.
"Hey, Jake, check this out!" Emira called.
Holding onto his comic book, Jake walked over to her.
At the Owl House, the Bat Baby triplets were totally wrecking the place.
"What silences children? What if we invent a TV network for ages 6 to 11?" King suggested.
"What? That's insane," Eda replied.
"Hey guys, that's already been invented. They're called cartoons!" Finn yelled.
"Yeah, Jake's world has tons of them," Asher added.
"There's only one way out of this," Eda said, taking out a knife before cutting an apple. "Apple slices and storytime. All right, brats. Let's do this." She pulled out Otabin's book. "Ugh, being a parent is making me sick. How did Finn and Asher's dad survive this?" Eda muttered as the Bat Babies, along with King, Finn, and Asher, sat in front of her.
"Otabin spent his days alone amongst the many books he'd sewn. With needle and thread..." Eda Begin
Back in the library, Luz was reading the same page.
"...the pages he mends. But all the while, he longed for a friend," Luz finished.
"Friend?" Otabin asked, prepping his needle and thread.
"Luz, check this out." Turning around, Luz saw Jake, Stitch, Edric, and Emira walk in.
"What is it?" Jake asked.
"Look what we discovered." Emira opened a book called *Quacks Eat Snacks.*
From it, a cute little duck came out.
"Aww, a little duck," Jake said as Stitch got really excited, reminded of the ugly duckling.
"Cute little quackster," Luz added, but then Edric grabbed the book and drew in it, causing the little duck to grow giant beefy legs, making it freak out.
"Now it's extra cute," Emira said, closing the book as she and Edric laughed.
"Uh, I wouldn't say that," Jake said nervously, as Stitch, heartbroken and angry, let out a low growl.
"Come on, Jake, it's just a little duck, and it's not even real. It's from a book," Edric said.
"I guess," Jake replied, feeling uncomfortable as he hid his comic book behind his back. But Stitch quickly took it, erased the legs to fix the duck, and then noticed Jake's book.
After the others left the room, Stitch stayed behind, his curiosity getting the better of him. Spotting Jake's comic book, Stitch grabbed it and started flipping through the pages. A sudden glow began to emerge from the book, and before Stitch could react, a figure materialized in front of him.
A 10-year-old boy appeared, wearing a green and white jacket over a black shirt, khaki cargo pants, and sneakers. The most striking feature was the strange watch on his wrist.
"Who the heck are you?" Ben muttered, quickly scanning the room, but his eyes fixed on Stitch, who stood there glaring at him. Ben's instincts kicked in immediately. "Whoa, bad alien alert!" he said, quickly assuming Stitch was a threat.
Before Stitch could respond, Ben lunged toward his watch, ready to transform. But Stitch, with his lightning-fast reflexes, tackled Ben to the ground, pinning his wrist. "Nuh-uh! Naga pressy!" Stitch growled, his blue eyes narrowed dangerously.
"Get off me!" Ben shouted, struggling under Stitch's iron grip. "I gotta take you down!"
With a surprising amount of strength, Ben kicked Stitch over a table, sending him crashing into the wall. Free from Stitch's grip, Ben quickly scrambled to his feet and tapped his watch.
"Time for some backup," Ben said with a smirk. His hand slammed down on the Omnitrix. A bright green flash filled the room as Ben's body shifted and morphed in a flurry of glowing green energy. His limbs stretched, skin hardening into a rocky texture, and his whole body grew in size. When the light faded, Ben was no longer standing there.
Instead, in his place was Four Arms, towering over Stitch with his massive red-skinned body and four muscular arms. "Let's see how you handle this!" Four Arms boomed, clenching his fists.
Stitch shook off the impact from the table and stared up at the towering figure. His eyes narrowed. "Bad alien…" he growled under his breath.
Four Arms charged, swinging two massive fists at Stitch. But Stitch was quick. He somersaulted backward, avoiding the crushing blow, landing in a crouch. With a low growl, Stitch leaped onto Four Arms' back, digging his claws into the alien's tough skin.
"Get off me, you little—!" Four Arms roared, trying to shake Stitch loose. He slammed into the wall, trying to crush Stitch against it, but Stitch clung on, wrapping his legs around one of Four Arms' arms.
"Stitch Naga scared!" Stitch growled as he yanked one of Four Arms' fists to the side, forcing him off balance.
Four Arms roared in frustration, spinning around to try and throw Stitch off. "You don't know who you're messing with!" he bellowed, grabbing one of the tables and throwing it at Stitch with all four arms.
Stitch dodged the table mid-air, flipping over it and landing on the ground with cat-like agility. "Stitch fight worse aliens than you!" he taunted, baring his teeth.
Four Arms growled in frustration and charged again, fists swinging. Stitch's speed and agility gave him the edge, dodging blow after blow, staying just ahead of the hulking alien's attacks. Stitch lunged forward, grabbing onto one of Four Arms' legs, yanking hard and tripping him.
Four Arms stumbled and crashed to the ground with a loud thud, shaking the entire room. "Ugh! You're faster than you look," he grunted, pushing himself up.
Stitch jumped onto Four Arms' back again, clinging to his shoulders, and growled into his ear, "Stitch no bad alien… you bad alien!"
Four Arms groaned, still struggling. "Ugh, you are the bad guy! But let's settle this!"
Four Arms grunted, raising all four of his massive arms at once. "I'm gonna end this now!" he growled, bringing all of his fists down toward Stitch in a powerful strike.
But just as the punches were about to connect, Stitch grinned. With a swift motion, two more arms popped out from his sides, and his antennas shot up, the spikes on his back bristling. In a blur of motion, Stitch caught all four of Four Arms' fists at once, stopping the attack cold.
Four Arms' eyes widened in shock. "What the—?!"
Stitch's four arms held firm, gripping tightly onto Four Arms' massive fists. "You not only one with extra arms!" Stitch growled, his sharp teeth flashing in a mischievous grin.
Four Arms strained, trying to push forward, but Stitch held his ground, his small but mighty frame keeping the larger alien at bay. "How… how are you this strong?" Four Arms grunted, clearly not expecting Stitch to be able to match his strength.
Stitch let out a chuckle. "Stitch stronger than he look! You big… but Naga smart."
With a quick twist of his body, Stitch yanked Four Arms to the side, using the momentum to spin the massive alien off balance. Four Arms stumbled, his feet sliding across the floor as Stitch twisted his arms, flipping him onto his back with a loud crash that rattled the room.
"Ugh!" Four Arms groaned, trying to catch his breath as he lay flat on the ground. He looked up at Stitch, who stood over him, still grinning.
"Stitch no want to fight," Stitch said, standing with his arms crossed, his antennas twitching slightly as he calmed down. "You think Stitch bad alien… but Stitch not bad! Stitch good… you just not listen."
Four Arms lay there for a moment, blinking as he processed what Stitch had said. "Wait… you're not the bad guy?" he asked, sounding a bit embarrassed.
Stitch rolled his eyes. "Naga! Stitch hero! Like you."
Four Arms groaned and sat up, rubbing the back of his head with one of his hands. "Man… I thought you were some kind of evil alien or something." He sighed, the realization dawning on him. "Sorry about that, little guy. I've fought a lot of aliens… sometimes I just assume the worst."
Stitch's antennas twitched again, but this time, he didn't seem angry. "It's okay. Stitch fight lots of bad aliens too… but Stitch smarter."
Four Arms couldn't help but smirk. "Yeah, I'll give you that one. You definitely outsmarted me." He stood up, brushing himself off. "So… we're cool now?"
Stitch gave him a toothy grin and nodded. "Cool."
Just as the tension started to fade, the sound of footsteps echoed through the hall. The door swung open, and Jake, Luz, and the others rushed back into the room.
"What happened here?!" Jake asked, looking around at the mess.
Luz gasped, seeing the massive figure of Four Arms standing next to Stitch. "Uh… Jake? Why is there a giant alien in the room?"
Jake's eyes widened when he spotted the Omnitrix symbol on Four Arms' chest. "Wait… is that—?!"
Four Arms turned to face them, lifting one of his hands in a friendly wave. "Hey, sorry about the mess," he said with a sheepish grin. "Name's Ben. I think we got off on the wrong foot here."
Stitch, now calm, nodded. "All good now… we friends."
Jake blinked, trying to take in everything at once. "Friends? You and… this guy?" He pointed at Four Arms.
Stitch shrugged. "Yup. Big alien strong… but Stitch stronger."
Four Arms let out a chuckle. "Yeah… Stitch definitely taught me a thing or two."
Jake sighed in relief. "Well, glad to see everyone's okay. But next time, maybe let's not fight in the library?"
Luz laughed, glancing between the two aliens. "Yeah, unless you want us to get kicked out."
"Deal," Ben said, tapping the Omnitrix on his chest. In a flash of green light, he transformed back into his human form, smiling at everyone. "Sorry about that."
Stitch crossed his arms, his grin still wide. "No more fighting. Now, we go eat?"
Ben raised an eyebrow. "Did you say… eat?"
Stitch's eyes sparkled. "JaInjibay… but it also means food!"
Everyone laughed as they all started walking toward the door, the fight behind them and a new friendship forming.
"But before we go any further, there's something I want to show you guys," Edric said, as they followed him to another part of the library.
He led them deeper into the library, stopping at the romance section.
"Oh, wow. Boiling Isles romance. That's totally lame... I mean, unless you guys are into it?" Luz asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I think I might be into this one," Edric said, moving a book. Suddenly, the shelf shifted, revealing a secret clubhouse filled with comic books and a ton of manga.
"Wow, that's a good book," Luz said, as Jake, Stitch, and Ben peered inside.
"Whoa! Look at all these manga and comics! I could spend all day in here!" Jake exclaimed excitedly, while Stitch bounced up and down in joy.
"Man, this library is pretty cool," Ben added, taking it all in.
"We don't usually hang out in the library. Uh, 'Teacher, I'm in love with a dictionary!'" Edric joked, mocking the idea.
"I'm studying the dork arts. This is Amity's secret hideaway," Emira explained, surprising the group.
"Amity?" Jake asked, his voice filled with curiosity.
"Who's Amity?" Ben asked, turning to Stitch and Jake.
"Amity's a girl we're trying to befriend, but it's kinda tough. Well, at least we're trying to be friends. Stitch says they talk, so I guess they're... acquaintances?" Jake replied, unsure of how to describe their relationship.
"Anyway," Edric continued, "Mittens has gotten too full of herself. She keeps tattling on us when we skip class."
"Yeah, she needs to learn not to mess with people like that. So, we're going to find her diary," Emira added with a mischievous grin.
"And then, post the pages all around school for everyone to see," Edric said, laughing, shocking the others.
"But… she'd be humiliated," Jake said, placing his comic book down on the table.
"Isn't that taking it a bit too far?" Luz asked, looking worried.
"Naga bootifa," Stitch chimed in.
"Yeah, the blue guy's right. Not cool," Ben added, causing Jake to look at him, wide-eyed in surprise.
"Wait… you can understand Tantalog?" Jake asked in shock.
"Yeah, the Omnitrix lets me understand any alien language," Ben explained, as Luz tried to reason with the twins.
"No, see, we're her family. It's tough love. She needs to learn to lighten up," Emira said defensively.
"Hmm. Well, I don't see any diaries in here... Nope, nothing. Let's just leave," Luz said quickly. Then her eyes widened. "Wait, are those..." she gasped, as she, Jake, and Stitch spotted *The Good Witch Azura* books.
Ben, still confused, glanced around. "Uh, what's so special about those?"
"Good Witch Azura books 1-4," Jake said as they walked over.
"First all the manga and comic books, and now this? How did she even get these?" Luz asked as they examined them.
"Is this one hand-drawn?" Jake asked, grabbing a small one. But when he opened it, he saw Amity in it.
"I saw those humans and that blue alien again today," Amity's diary said, causing them to gasp.
"Dude, you really should put that back. I don't even sneak into my cousin Gwen's diary unless I want my hand chopped off," Ben said, with Stitch nodding in agreement.
"The diary," Luz said.
"I may have overreacted. I mean, that human Jake... I heard from my mentor that he's related to someone who disappeared a long time ago. He has the same kind of magic as him, mostly, and he's part of a family just like me. The only difference is he doesn't know that. That must be why he's so happy all the time. Plus, the way he always says 'Ohana'—I learned that means family. Him, that little blue fuzzball, and the other human... I don't want to come off as cruel, but I just can't show weakness," the diary said.
"Oh no," Jake muttered, quickly closing it.
"Hey, Jake, what've you got there?" Edric asked, as Jake and Luz quickly hid the book behind them. But Stitch and Ben noticed.
"Oh, nothing, just... Azura volume 5," Jake said.
"It's not fair. I'm the only one who knows Ed and Em aren't perfect. Why do they keep getting away with things?" Amity's diary read, causing Edric and Emira to smile.
"This is it," Edric grinned.
"Luz, Jake, were you guys hiding this from us?" Emira asked.
"You see how she treats people. And how she treats you two," Edric added.
"I know, but no one deserves this. This is crossing the line," Jake said.
"These are private thoughts. Let's put it back," Luz said, trying to pull the diary away, but Edric and Emira resisted. Jake quickly grabbed Luz by the waist as Stitch and Ben jumped in to help them pull.
"You guys are her siblings! You can't do this to your own family!" Jake said, struggling.
"Bad Ohana," Stitch grumbled, doing his best to help.
"Yeah, you guys are being bullies!" Ben shouted, pulling on Stitch to help.
"She needs this!" Emira insisted.
"It's for her own good!" Edric added. As they continued to pull, some pages ripped out, causing Jake and Luz to fall back. Stitch tumbled into Ben, who banged into a table, knocking open Jake's comic book, which began to glow again.
"I wish I had somewhere to go. Why won't these humans and the blue thing just leave me alone? Called my teacher 'mom' again. Sorry I haven't written for a while. Wait, why am I apologizing?" The pages recited, all at once.
Scrambling, Jake, Stitch, Ben, and Luz hurried to gather the pages when suddenly, Amity stepped in.
"Really?" Amity said, her tone cold, as they all froze, gasping.
"This isn't what it looks like," Luz said quickly.
"We just wanted to help," Jake added, but Amity's face turned red with anger, while her siblings laughed.
"You three are the worst. I've been trying to figure you and your human—and your pet—out. Are you nerds, posers, ignorant? But now I know. You three are bullies! And Stitch, you said 'Ohana' means family. Family is supposed to never leave you behind, never forget you, never abandon you. But you lied! You said I wasn't alone. I *am* alone! I never should've trusted you. I never should've opened up. I was right all along—you're not my friends, you're not my family. You're just some blue pet alien freak!" Amity shouted, grabbing her diary and running off.
"Amity, wait!" Jake called out as they ran after her.
"Looks like Mittens ruined the fun again," Edric said, shrugging.
"Oh well. We're headed out to go goblin-tipping. Wanna come?" Emira asked.
"You're just gonna leave her like that?" Jake asked, surprised.
"Yeah, with you three," Emira replied, grabbing his arm.
"No thanks. I think I've had enough for one day," Jake said, pulling away.
"Come on, Stitch, we've got to help Amity. We need to figure out something to make her feel better," Jake said, running after Amity.
"Okie-taka," Stitch agreed, following closely behind.
"Look, you guys are cool," Luz said, causing Edric and Emira to smile. "But we're gonna go help Mittens—I mean, Amity."
"Whatever, see you around," Emira winked before they left, but Ben didn't like it. He quietly followed the twins.
Ben quickly caught up with Edric and Emira, cutting them off as they walked away. His face was serious, and his fists clenched.
"You know, what you guys did back there? That was wrong as hell," Ben said, his voice sharp with anger.
Edric and Emira stopped in their tracks, turning to face him, surprised by his sudden outburst.
"I should transform into one of my aliens and beat the crap out of both of you right now," Ben continued, glaring at them. "But I'm not going to waste my Omnitrix on people like you."
Edric raised an eyebrow. "Wow, overdramatic much? It's just a joke."
"A joke?!" Ben's voice grew louder. "You think humiliating your sister, making her feel like she's worthless, is funny? I've battled alien overlords, taken down villains who tried to destroy entire planets, and you know what the worst thing I've ever dealt with is?"
Edric and Emira exchanged glances, suddenly unsure how to respond.
"*Bullies," Ben spat. "And that's exactly what you two are. You're supposed to be her family. You're supposed to have her back. Instead, you tear her down."
Emira crossed her arms defensively. "It's just tough love."
"Tough love? You're not helping her, you're breaking her down!" Ben said, stepping forward. "If you two think that's okay, then you don't deserve to call yourselves her siblings."
The twins went silent, unsure of how to respond to Ben's intensity.
Ben took a deep breath, calming himself down just a bit. "Look, you can keep acting like this if you want. But one day, you'll realize you pushed her too far, and by then, it'll be too late. She'll be gone."
With that, Ben turned and walked away, leaving the twins standing there in stunned silence.
As Luz, Jake, and Stitch ran off to find Amity, they didn't notice a hand slowly emerging from Jake's comic book, which he had left behind.
"Amity, wait, please!" Jake called out, spotting her walking down a hallway.
"First you embarrass me, and now you want to be my friend? I don't get you. Pick a side!" Amity snapped, frustration clear in her voice as Stitch stopped in front of her.
"Stitch Soka Yuuga... you are Ohana. Your siblings, bad Ohana. We good Ohana, Amity. Stitch Ohana," Stitch said, trying his best to explain.
"We were trying to help you," Luz added, stepping forward.
"Help me? If you really want to help me, then stay out of my life!" Amity shouted, pointing at them. "Just go away before things get even worse," she said, brushing past Stitch.
But before they could react, things did, indeed, get worse. WAY worse.
A low growl echoed through the hall, drawing their attention. They turned to see Otabin, now transformed into a giant monster with claws, fangs, and glowing red eyes. The book that Edric and Emira had tampered with was now fused to his chest, right over his heart.
"Otabin?" Amity gasped, shocked at the sight.
"With claws and fangs and breaking bones, I found a friend to make my own," Otabin growled, his massive hand reaching out to grab them.
Before he could strike, A blue energy blast struck Otabin, forcing him to stumble backward. As the dust settled, a tall figure stepped into view. It was Rook Blonko. His dark blue armor with sleek black outlines contrasted against his fur-covered body. With piercing green eyes, he scanned the area, holding his Proto-Tool, which had just shifted from a blaster to a blade.
Jake's jaw dropped. "Rook?! What—how did you get here?"
Stitch squinted, looking confused. "Hmm, Stitch knows blue guy… maybe."
Luz, on the other hand, was completely speechless, her mouth wide open in disbelief. "First Ben comes out of the comic, and now his partner?! What is happening?"
Rook's gaze shifted to the group of kids and the strange alien, not recognizing any of them. His voice calm and composed, he asked, "Who are you all, and what is this creature? Is it a threat?"
Jake quickly stepped forward, trying to explain. "Wait, wait! It's… complicated, but we're on your side. That creature is Otabin. He's the one we need to stop."
Rook nodded, not fully understanding the situation but ready to help. "Then let's end this swiftly."
Looking to the others, Otabin grabbed Amity.
"Jake! Stitch!" Amity screamed, as Jake tried to save her, but Otabin ran off.
"Amity! We've gotta save her!" Jake shouted, as Stitch and Luz rushed over.
"I need to help her right now, and we need to get Otabin back inside that book immediately," Jake said. "Astral Convergence: Magic Comet Bow!" A bow appeared in his hands, shooting arrows infused with the speed and heat of comets, leaving a blazing trail behind.
"And all we need are some strong aliens," Jake added with a grin as Ben walked in.
"Oh hey, guys. Oh crap! Rook?! When did you get here, and what the hell is that thing?"
"No time to explain, Ben. I need you to transform into Diamondhead. You need to work together with Stitch and Luz—she can use her light glyph. Rook and I will try to shoot him down with my bow and Rook's Proto-Tool. We need to get Otabin back into that book over there." Jake pointed to Otabin's book, lying open on the ground by the corner.
Ben nodded. "Got it."
Ben grinned as he slapped the Omnitrix on his wrist. "Alright, let's do this!" He rotated the Omnitrix dial until the symbol for Diamondhead appeared. Slamming the button down, a green flash of light enveloped his body.
Ben's skin shimmered and morphed, transforming into hard, green crystals. His limbs elongated, and his hands solidified into sharp, jagged shapes. Diamond-like shards jutted from his arms, his face becoming angular and reflective, catching the light. The transformation finished as the emerald-green glow faded, revealing Diamondhead in his full crystalline form, standing tall and ready for battle.
"Let's rock!" Diamondhead said, cracking his crystal knuckles.
Jake quickly explained the plan as they gathered around. "Ben, you and Stitch are going to charge Otabin and keep him distracted. Luz, you use your light glyphs to blind him whenever you get the chance. Rook and I will target his weak spots and try to pin him down. We need to get him back inside that book. Got it?"
"Got it," Luz said, her hand already drawing a light glyph in the air.
"Stitch ready!" Stitch growled, his extra arms and spikes at the ready.
Rook armed his Proto-Tool, transforming it into a sleek, blaster-like weapon. "Understood. Let us move quickly before Otabin harms anyone else."
They rushed into action as Otabin, still holding Amity, raised a giant needle in his hand, his voice echoing in a menacing rhyme:
"With every stitch, I bind and weave,
None escape, none shall leave.
I'll sew your fate with thread and sting,
To be my puppet, under my string."
Diamondhead charged first, his crystal fists slamming into the ground, creating a wave of sharp crystal spikes aimed at Otabin's feet. Otabin stumbled, forced to dodge the spikes, which gave Stitch the opening to leap at him. Stitch growled as he landed a powerful punch to Otabin's midsection, but Otabin countered, swinging the needle at Stitch.
"Not so fast!" Luz yelled, activating her light glyph. A burst of bright light flashed in Otabin's face, momentarily blinding him.
"Nice one!" Jake shouted, taking aim with his Astral Convergence Bow. "Rook, let's go for the legs! Slow him down!"
Rook nodded and fired his Proto-Tool, sending an energy blast at Otabin's knees while Jake shot comet arrows aimed at his ankles. Both hits landed, causing Otabin to roar in anger and stagger back. Amity was dropped, but Stitch quickly grabbed her, pulling her to safety.
"Rhymes are good, but so are we.
My friends and I will set you free," Otabin hissed, raising his needle again.
Diamondhead rushed forward, swinging his massive crystal fists at Otabin's chest. Each hit sent shards of crystal flying, and Otabin blocked with his needle, though cracks formed on its surface. Stitch joined in, launching a flurry of punches with all four arms, while Luz threw another light glyph at his face, momentarily blinding him again.
"We need to trap him now!" Jake yelled, pulling back his comet bowstring. He aimed at the book that lay open on the ground. "I'm going to create a vortex to suck him back in!"
Rook fired his Proto-Tool at Otabin's legs again, sending a shockwave that caused him to stumble and fall to one knee.
"Now, Ben!" Jake shouted.
Diamondhead raised both hands, forming massive crystal spikes. He brought them down with a thunderous crash, pinning Otabin to the ground as Stitch used his strength to hold the enemy down.
Otabin growled, rhyming once more, his voice growing weaker:
"I shall not go back, not in chains,
Your efforts here shall be in vain."
Jake released the arrow, and as it shot through the air, it burst into a swirling vortex of comet energy, heading straight for the book. The pages glowed bright as the vortex latched onto Otabin, pulling him toward the book's open pages.
"Hold him!" Rook commanded as he fired again, helping the vortex gain strength. Diamondhead and Stitch pushed with all their might as Otabin was slowly dragged backward.
"No! I will not—" Otabin's voice was cut off as the vortex fully consumed him, slamming the book shut with a loud thud.
Everything grew quiet for a moment as the group caught their breath. Diamondhead turned to Jake and grinned. "Nice work, everyone."
"Good teamwork!" Stitch said, giving a thumbs-up.
Amity, now safe, looked at them all, especially Jake, her face a mix of gratitude and surprise. "You... you saved me."
Jake smiled at her. "That's what Ohana does."
Soon, they found themselves cleaning up the damage they caused, the early light of dawn creeping in unnoticed.
"Hey, Ben, Rook. Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it," Jake said, looking over at them.
Ben gave him a grin. "Don't worry about it. That's what heroes do, right?"
"It was a pleasure for us to assist," Rook added, giving a small nod.
"Speak for yourself. This never happened," Amity muttered, folding her arms, clearly still a bit embarrassed by everything.
Luz stepped forward, holding out a comic book. "Hey, uh, I know this doesn't make up for reading your diary, but Jake, Stitch, and I thought you might like this."
"We noticed you only had Volumes 1 through 4 of *Azura," Jake chimed in. "This is Volume 5. It's really good, trust me."
Amity blinked, staring at the book before carefully taking it from Luz. "Thank you… Maybe you aren't bullies after all," she admitted softly. "I haven't exactly been the friendliest witch, either. I'll think about that."
Stitch, sensing her softening mood, walke over to Amity, nudging her leg and then cuddling up to her. Amity looked down at him, caught off guard by the affectionate alien, and sighed, her lips curving into a small smile. "Okay, okay... Ohana, right?"
Jake, Luz, and Stitch shared a smile. For now, things were looking brighter.
As they finished cleaning up, Jake glanced nervously at the comic book still lying open on the floor. He picked it up and looked at Ben and Rook. "Alright, guys. Time to get you back inside the comic book." He opened the book and held it out, expecting the same magical suction to pull them in like it had brought them out.
But nothing happened.
Ben raised an eyebrow. "Uh, Jake? You sure about this?"
Rook crossed his arms, looking unimpressed. "It seems the comic book portal is... no longer functioning."
Jake frowned, flipping through the pages frantically. "This is weird. It worked before. Why isn't it working now?"
Luz and Stitch exchanged worried glances as Jake kept trying to open the book in different ways. After a moment of frustrated silence, something dawned on him. "Oh no…"
"What? Oh no, what?" Ben asked, already sounding concerned.
Jake swallowed hard, scratching the back of his head nervously. "The Wailing Star."
"The Wailing what now?" Luz asked, confused.
"The Wailing Star," Jake repeated. "It's this rare celestial event that only comes around every few thousand years. It creates these weird portals between dimensions, and that's how you guys got here in the first place."
Ben groaned. "And let me guess... it passed, didn't it?"
Jake nodded sheepishly. "Yeah, it probably passed while we were fighting Otabin. Which means..."
"Which means we're stuck here," Rook finished, a calm but resigned tone in his voice.
Ben slapped his forehead. "Great! Just great! I've fought aliens, taken down warlords, but getting stuck in a random dimension because of a comic book? That's a new one."
Luz blinked, her eyes wide. "Wait, so you guys are really... stuck? Like, for good?"
"Well, not *for good," Jake said, trying to sound optimistic. "Just, you know... for the next thousand years or so until the Wailing Star comes back."
Ben threw his hands up. "A *thousand* years?! I'm gonna be old by then!"
Rook remained composed as ever. "We will need to adapt to this new world until a solution presents itself."
Jake, feeling guilty, looked at them apologetically. "Sorry, guys. I didn't know this was gonna happen."
Ben sighed, shaking his head before giving Jake a half-hearted smile. "It's not your fault, dude. I guess we'll just have to make the best of it."
Stitch, always ready to make light of the situation, jumped up and waved his little arms. "Ohana means family! Ben and Rook part of Ohana now!" he cheered.
Jake smiled a little. "Well, looks like you guys are part of our Ohana now. We'll figure things out. Together."
Back at the Owl House, Eda was asleep with King, Finn, and Asher nearby. The Bat Babies were snuggled in her arms.
"Hi guys, we're... home," Luz whispered as they entered, noticing everyone asleep.
"Hey, we've got some new guests," Jake added, holding a sleeping Stitch in his arms.
"Wow," Ben and Rook said in unison, looking around the cozy, cluttered room.
"Yi Yi. Mama is I, and I am the Bat Queen," a voice said suddenly. The Bat Queen whistled, and her Bat Babies flew into her hair. "Ah, snuggle dumplings," she cooed, then gagged and barfed out a treasure chest full of coins and a skull-shaped whistle, causing everyone to cringe.
"Ugh, gross," Luz muttered.
"For your troubles. Eda is owed one," the Bat Queen said before leaving.
"Okay, okay. Eda, wake up," Jake said, nudging her gently.
"Hmm, sweet babies," Eda mumbled before realizing the Bat Babies were gone. "Babies? Where are the babies?" she asked, and Luz mimed them flying away. "Oh, and I just taught Junior how to pick locks," Eda sighed.
"Your night looks... very successful. Look at all that money you made! And this cool whistle that scary woman gave you. I'd wash it before you use it, though," Luz suggested.
"Yeah... we did it all for the money," Eda said with a frown.
"I miss my babies," King sobbed.
"Who took my babies?" Asher started to cry, while Finn tried to calm his brother down.
"Hey, who are you two?" Eda asked, finally noticing Ben and Rook.
Eda looked at Jake, waiting for an explanation. "So, what happened at the library today?" she asked, her eyes narrowing slightly.
Jake hesitated for a second before speaking. "Well, we ran into some... issues. There was a bit of a mess with this enchanted book, and, uh... these two guys showed up," he motioned to Ben and Rook, "and helped us out. You know, just a regular day in Bonesborough."
King hopped off the couch and waddled over, squinting at Ben and Rook with suspicion. "Wait, wait, hold on. *These* guys? This is the guy you said could transform into aliens and stuff?" he asked, poking Ben's leg.
"Yeah, this is Ben," Jake introduced. "Ben, meet King. He's, uh, kind of like the ruler around here—if you believe him." Jake grinned, looking at King with a playful glint in his eyes. "Earlier, King was saying he could take you down and beat any of your aliens."
Ben chuckled, crossing his arms. "Oh yeah? King thinks he can take me down?" he asked, amused. He looked down at King, who puffed out his chest proudly.
"Yeah, I could totally take you and all your weird alien forms. No problem," King boasted, standing on his toes to look taller.
Ben smirked, pretending to be serious. "Well, King, I've taken down alien overlords, massive cosmic threats, and an entire universe of villains. But... a tiny dog-like demon? That's a challenge I haven't faced yet."
King crossed his arms and glared up at him. "I'm not just a 'tiny dog-like demon,' I'm the King of Demons! You wouldn't stand a chance!"
Jake laughed. "King, you wouldn't last five seconds against Ben's aliens. You might want to reconsider before you challenge him."
But King wasn't backing down. "Five seconds? Please. I could make him surrender in two."
Ben shook his head, clearly entertained. "You've got guts, King, I'll give you that."
Luz chimed in, laughing. "King, Ben can turn into like, a hundred different aliens, each with crazy powers. Are you sure you wanna challenge him?"
King huffed. "I don't care what kind of powers he has. I could handle it. Besides, I've got something better than powers—I've got *strategy*."
Jake ruffled King's head. "Sure, King. Maybe one day we'll see that strategy in action."
Stitch, still half-asleep in Jake's arms, mumbled, "Mmm, King no beat Ben... too strong."
King glared at Stitch. "Don't underestimate me, Stitch! I've got moves none of you have seen!"
"Whatever you say, King," Ben said, grinning. "Maybe one day I'll let you challenge one of my aliens."
Eda rolled her eyes, smiling at the ridiculous exchange. "Alright, enough with the tough talk. So, Jake, you wanna tell me more about what *really* happened at the library?"
Jake scratched his head. "Well, we kinda... accidentally set a book monster loose. And Amity got caught in the middle of it. But we handled it. Sort of."
Rook, ever serious, nodded. "We neutralized the threat and ensured that no further damage occurred."
Eda sighed. "Of course you did. Just another chaotic day with you kids."
Meanwhile, at Amity's house, she sat on her bed, quietly reading *Azura Vol. 5, the book that Jake and Luz had given her earlier. The room was peaceful, and for the first time in a while, Amity felt a little lighter. The events at the library still weighed on her, but the gift showed her that maybe not everyone was as bad as she had thought.
Just as she was getting to a good part in the book, there was a soft knock at her door.
"Amity?" came Edric's voice, unusually hesitant. "Can we come in?"
Amity paused, her eyes narrowing slightly. It wasn't often that her siblings knocked. Usually, they just barged in, up to their usual antics. She sighed and closed the book, placing it on her bedside table. "Come in."
Edric and Emira stepped in, both looking unusually serious. Amity raised an eyebrow, unsure of what was coming.
"Hey," Emira started, her tone softer than usual. "We just wanted to... apologize for what happened at the library today."
Amity blinked, a bit taken aback. Her siblings almost never apologized for anything. They were always so carefree, never really thinking about the consequences of their actions.
Edric scratched the back of his head, looking guilty. "Yeah, we... kind of messed up. Big time. We didn't realize how far we were going, you know? With the book and everything."
"Ben called us out," Emira added, her expression more serious than Amity had ever seen it. "He said we were being bullies. And... he was right."
Amity's eyes widened at the mention of Ben. She had been so focused on Jake and Luz that she hadn't thought about what Ben might have said. "Ben said that?"
Edric nodded. "Yeah. He was really mad. Said he'd fought all kinds of villains and alien overlords, but that bullies were the worst. That hit hard. I didn't realize we were acting like that until he pointed it out."
Emira sighed, sitting down at the foot of Amity's bed. "We didn't mean to hurt you, Mittens. It started as a prank, but we took it too far, and we're really sorry."
Amity was quiet for a moment, processing what they were saying. It wasn't like them to be this remorseful. Normally, they would brush off things like this or laugh it off as a joke. But hearing that Ben, someone who hardly knew them, had called them bullies... it made them stop and think.
Finally, Amity spoke. "It did hurt. I know you guys like to mess around, but that book meant a lot to me. And... it's not the first time you've pulled something like this."
"We know," Edric said softly. "And we're really sorry. We promise we'll try to do better. No more messing with your stuff. No more crossing the line."
Emira nodded. "We just... want to be better siblings. For real this time."
Amity looked between them, unsure if she should trust their words. But seeing the genuine regret on their faces made her heart soften a little.
"I appreciate the apology," she said, her voice quieter now. "But you have to understand that it'll take time for me to fully trust you again."
"Of course," Emira said quickly. "We'll prove it."
Edric smiled weakly. "Yeah, no more pranks. Well, at least not on you. Maybe on each other."
Amity gave a small smile at that. "We'll see."
The room was quiet for a moment, the tension easing as the apology settled in. Amity glanced at the book on her bedside table, feeling a little more at peace with everything that had happened.
"You're really reading *Azura Vol. 5*?" Emira asked, noticing the book.
Amity nodded. "Yeah. Jake and Luz gave it to me. It's actually really good."
Edric raised an eyebrow. "Maybe we should borrow it when you're done."
Amity smirked. "Maybe."
With that, Edric and Emira stood up, both looking relieved that their apology had been accepted.
"Thanks for hearing us out, Mittens," Edric said, ruffling her hair a bit before they left the room.
Amity watched them go, feeling a bit better about everything. She picked up the book again, her fingers tracing the cover before she opened it to where she had left off.
Maybe things were starting to change after all.
