The Flash was currently racing through Central City, honestly playing a bit of a game of Cat and Mouse with Tony, pausing every few hundred yards, keeping Tony in his line of sight, letting him get close and then speeding off again and he had to admit, he was taking a little more pleasure in toying with Tony than he probably should.
"You are taking way too much joy in this." Caitlin said over the comms.
"Like you wouldn't if it was you against Lexi LaRoche now?" Flash asked his sister.
"Point taken." Caitlin conceded.
"But do we have an actual plan on how to stop Tony, since I'm pretty sure that all hitting him at superspeed is going to hurt me more than it'll hurt him." Barry said.
"No Barry, you keep doing what you're doing, playing Cat and Mouse with Tony." Henry said over the comms.
"Okay, but why?" Barry asked, confused
"Because every metahuman has limits, including both you and Tony. Staying in his steel form while trying to keep up with you must be exhausting. He won't be able to maintain it forever. You just need to wait for him to tire himself out. Once he's too exhausted to maintain his metal form, you can take him down." Henry explained.
"Got it." Flash said, since while it wasn't the takedown he'd prefer to serve Tony with, at least it was a takedown that he could finally get on his childhood bully and luckily, after dealing with Tony for years, Barry was an expert at evading him.
"Oh, and from now on, call him Girder." Cisco said over the comms.
"Really Cisco, is now the time for that?" Flash asked, though he couldn't deny it was an appropriate nickname.
"Since I'm the only person in this operation that doesn't have superpowers, please let me have this. Besides, you can't deny that it's a good name." Cisco said and Flash rolled his eyes.
"Fair enough." Flash agreed as Girder once again caught up to him.
"Come on, stay still and fight." Girder demanded as he attempted to punch Flash, who quickly and easily dodged his strikes, since sometimes speed did beat strength.
"I am. You're just too slow to keep up." Flash taunted as he landed a few speed punches into Girder's side and while it did cause his hands to sting while Tony was in his metal form, it still felt so satisfying to finally get a few shots in on him while Tony couldn't touch him anymore. Besides, it was frustrating Tony and that was enough to help tire him out.
"Pathetic weakling. You don't deserve your power." Girder said.
"Funny, I was gonna say the same thing to you." Flash said as he could see Girder getting tired, both physically and mentally. It was getting clear that he couldn't maintain his metal form much longer.
"I will prove that I'm better than you and that I'm the one who deserves Iris, not that weakling Allen she settled for." Girder said as his metal form failed and Flash grinned, since he knew what that meant as he grabbed Tony by his shirt.
"You're never gonna get anywhere near Iris again. I've been waiting a long time for this moment." Flash said as he knocked Tony out with a lightning punch.
"Damn, that looked good." Cisco said, since they'd been monitoring the fight through the CCTV footage.
"It felt good too." Flash said as he heard Tony muttering something, even unconscious.
"She will love me, she will love me." Tony said, proving just how broken he was.
"I'm gonna drop this trash off at CCPD, since I'm not sure where else to put him." Flash said.
"Fortunately, there's already a protocol in place for super powered criminals in every city, dating back to Superman's existence. CCPD should be able to hold him until the government can transport him to Belle Reve." Henry said.
"In the meantime, you should check social media, since you're trending under #CentralCitySavior." Cisco said, since the Flash's fight with Girder had been public and seen by everyone in the city, officially revealing his presence to the world.
In fact, now that the trouble was over, people were approaching him.
"What do we call you?" one of his admirers asked and Flash grinned.
"Call me the Flash." Flash said as he picked Tony up and sped away, leaving the crowd in shock and awe at their new hero.
"And just like that, the Flash is officially born." Thawne said with a smirk as he watched events unfold on his display, ever since he'd 'killed' Harrison Wells and taken refuge down in the sewers, he'd moved his surveillance operation down here and he was keeping tabs of Team Flash. He had to admit that it was nice to finally be Eobard Thawne again instead of having to be Harrison Wells.
"Flash lives, father. Why didn't you allow me to fight him?" Grodd asked his father.
"In time buddy. I promise you'll get your chance. But right now the Flash wouldn't give you any real challenge. When you fight him, I want you to have a fight worth your time. Right now the Flash is too weak to give you that. For now we watch and observe the Flash in action. But I have someone else you can deal with for now. Someone I think even the Flash would agree to let you handle. An old friend of ours." Thawne said with a grin as he tossed a file to the ground and he saw Grodd grin.
"Grodd will enjoy this." Grodd said as he looked down on the file.
