Deep Space Nine, 2385
Colonel Kira Nerys was on the upper floor of the promenade, she was looking out the large window that faced the wormhole, or as many Bajorans called it, The Celestial Temple. It was the gateway to the Gamma Quadrant and the thing that had brought great prosperity and sorrow to her planet. It was also the place where the man she used to call captain now resided for ten years, the man she hated at first but later called her dear friend. The man the Bajorans called, "The Emissary" had been gone for a decade, he said he would come back, but as of now, there was no sign he was coming back. Kira was a part of the Bajoran military and oversaw Deep Space Nine since the departure of its previous commander. Much had gone on since he left, Bajor and the Federation had gotten closer since the end of the war to the point where Bajor was in major consideration to joining the Federation. It was still a divisive issue but at this point, it was more or less a done deal it was only a matter of when Bajor would join the Federation. "It's beautiful isn't it, Nerys?" the voice was one Kira knew instantly, the roughness and authority. She turned around and saw the face of Odo. Then changeling was just as Kira remembered him tall and gruff. "Hello Odo, it's been a while" he grunted in agreement "Yes it has Nerys, I regret it has taken this long for us to meet again" he then grunted and said "I only regret that Captain Sisko is not here to witness this historical event. Kira looked up to the wormhole "He is here Odo here is always here"
It was then that the brief silence was broken, by the boots of six Jem'Hadar flanking three Vorta, two male and one female carrying a small bundle in her hands. Kira sighed "I assume that is your, entourage?" "Yes, this is Borath, Eris and of course you know Weyoun, they will be with me part of the Dominion Delegation" Weyoun stepped forward and held out his hand "It's nice to see you again Kira Colonel, it's been too long" Kira looked at the man she despised all those years ago and took his hand "It's good to see you again ... Weyoun" She may have despised him, but she needed to get along with him for now. She looked over at the other two who to her surprise were holding hands. "What is up with them?" Odo replied "The great link has found it necessary to give the Vorta more freedom of choice and that includes the ability to couple off" "Good for them I guess" She had great resentment for the Vorta but she did realize they were slaves of the Dominion and deserved the same rights as everyone else. Eris was busy holding her cloth bundle and looking at it. Kira looked over at her inquisitively "What is that you are holding?" Eris smiled and said "The future"
