Chapter 35: Time and Place
A single word turned into a heavy weight over the room.
"I couldn't control my power when I was younger. I can now. But…" Shame filled her eyes and understanding washed over him.
"So yes, it's valid. But I can control it now and it's kept us safe." She gestured widely. "The whole kingdom, because a single touch and you're no longer a problem." Fireburn eyes were dulled, despite the light pleased tone she used and Gaara tilted his head.
"What happened to change?"
"Just because you want something doesn't mean it is the time for you to have it."
