Author's Note: The fight scenes are something I will most likely have trouble with in the future. Writing this chapter was difficult, and I see myself having more trouble in the future. Also, please review and follow/favorite. Constructive criticism, please.
All students have made it to Beacon Cliffs. Standing in a horizontal line, they waited for instructions from Professor Ozpin and Goodwitch. Ozpin takes a sip of his coffee and then looks at them as he decides to start the initiation. "For years, you have all been training to become warriors. Today, your abilities will be tested and evaluated in the Emerald Forest." Then Professor Goodwitch spoke, "Now I know that many of you have heard rumors about the formation of teams. Let us put an end to those rumors. You will all be given a teammate … Today," This causes Ruby to groan in despair. Ozpin adds to Professor Goodwitch's statement, "These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here in Beacon. So it is in your best interest to be paired with someone you can work well with." Ruby groans more. "That being said, the person you exchange eye contact with first is to be your partner for the next four years." That last statement from Ozpin got more sputters of surprise from more people, and Ruby became even more exasperated.
"After you have partnered up, you will go through the forest's northern end. Do not hesitate to destroy the Grimm in your way because if you do not, You. Will. Die." As Ozpin spoke, it caused Eugene and Jaune to panic slightly at what he just said. "You will be monitored and graded throughout the initiation, but our instructors will not interfere. You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the northern forest containing relics. Each pair must retrieve one and return to the top of the cliff. We will regard the relic, as well as your standing, and grade you appropriately. Are there any questions?" continued Ozpin. Jaune spoke to ask a question. "None. Good then, ready your positions." Said Ozpin as he ignored Jaune. Everyone begins to ready themselves into a pose. "Um, sir, so how is this landing strategy? Will you drop us off, or will we walk down some stairs? Or something?" meekly asked Jaune while not noticing students beginning to be flung. "No, mister Arc, you will be falling," answered Professor Ozpin. As Jaune continued talking to Professor Ozpin, the other students began flying through the air.

Eugene started to flail around in the sky as his lack of training finally showed. Gray watches Eugene flail and decides to rescue him from falling. He wraps his whip around his leg and maneuvers himself onto a tree branch, breaking their fall safely. Gray lands gracefully, while Eugene falls flat on his butt, though thankfully the damage is minimal. "Urgh, thanks, Gray. Huh, I guess this makes partners, right?" groggily says Eugene as he looks at Gray directly into his eyes. "So it does," responds Gray quietly as he analyzes their surroundings. So far, from what he'd seen, Gray had analyzed that the temple was nearby and merely a walk away. "This way. I've calculated where the temple is by looking out for what seemed unordinary when we were falling," said Gray. "Okay," Eugene responded as both began walking to where Gray directed. Just then, a Ursa minor comes barreling in to attack them. Gray dodges by moving to the left, and Eugene hides behind his riot shield, getting knocked down as he is launched back. Gray summons a brick from his pocket dimension and throws it at the Ursa's head to get its attention. That did the trick, and the Ursa turned to Gray to attack. The Ursa rises and swipes at Gray with its right paw.
Before it struck, Gray noticed its arm twitching for the attack, allowing him to dodge it effortlessly. Eugene used this chance to help Gray by yelling, "Go Gray, You Can Do It!" While Gray thought verbal support was useless, he felt more vital. Using logic, he figured out that Eugene's semblance was a support one and immediately decided to go for an attack. Gray wrapped his whip around the Ursa's head using this support, quickly pulling it down. In quick succession, he pulled out his pistol and shot straight into its eye, killing it. "Haah, that was intense, wasn't it? That attack lowered me to half my aura already," commented Eugene as he got up and looked toward Gray. "Thanks for the help. Let's get going now," apathetically spoke Gray. "Yeah, no problem, but you probably could have beaten it yourself," enthusiastically responded Eugene, unused to positive comments from his peers who aren't Rowan, as he followed Gray.
"Woohoo!" Yelled Ben as flies through the sky after being launched. He lands on the ground with a loud bang and into a squat position. He looks around and sees no one near him. "Huh, no one's here. Well, I'm sure I'll see someone eventually," said Ben to his lonesome. Ben was unaware that his loud landing attracted a Beowolf as it ran full force behind him. Just as it was about to pounce on Ben, by instinct, Ben turned around, moving forward, dodging its grasp and punching it squarely in the chest, crushing its ribs in one single motion and launching it back through a tree. With that single punch, Ben killed the Beowolf without trying. Ben looks again and still sees no one. "Oh well, I better get going then. Hmm, My sense of exploration is telling me to head this way," said Ben as he walked towards the temple.
Gerard flies through the sky and begins to jump from branch to branch as he descends to land safely on the forest floor. As he lands, he turns around, hearing someone running behind him. He locks eyes with a running Gogo. 'Damn, I couldn't find Ben. I hope we're on the same team afterward.' Thought Gogo with a frown as he began to slow his run into a walk and moved towards Gerard. "What, am I that unlikable?" Jokes Gerard "No. I just wanted to get teamed with Ben," sighed Gogo. "Well, let's get going anyway. I wonder if that airhead has gotten a partner now," thought Gerard out loud. Then, from the bushes came a running Boarbatusk towards them. Gogo dodged out of the left, and Gerard kicked and shot it with his gun shoes, injuring it heavily on its armored head. Gogo then ran towards it, unlocking his gauntlets and punching it rapidly at its injury to ensure it couldn't recover. Eventually, it was given a final blow by that rapid succession. "I don't see anymore, Grimm, so let's get going, Gogo," spoke Gerard after looking around as both boys began walking toward the temple.
Rowan flies as he uses his echos to slow down his descent. He lands safely in a kneeling position. He looks around and notices someone prouncing around in a feline-like manner in the trees until they both lock their eyes on each other. The one in the trees lands and looks at Rowan with an annoyed look. "Hey, it looks like we're partners now. Nice to meet a fellow faunus," smiles Rowan at his new partner. "Urgh, I was hoping to find Chad, so who the hell are you?" Teddy frowns as he walks towards Rowan. "Yo, I'm Rowan, a Valian local, but I moved to Vacuo and then returned. But when I was there, I was known as the Vacuoan Guillotine. Taking down assholes who came down my way with my signature attack," boasts Rowan as he shows off an elbow strike to Teddy. Rowan's natural swagger worked too well, as Teddy was awed at who he had just met.
"Woah, I didn't get paired up with some loser. Nice to see that I'm with someone like you!" Happily wagged Teddy. Both suddenly tense up as they sensed Grimm coming their way. Two Beowolves pounced at them. Both dodged out of their way. Rowan shot at one to grab its attention while Teddy ran towards the other, unlocking his claw gauntlets. Teddy was faster than it, dodging the attacks of the Beowolf locked on him and pounced onto the attack. Slashing at its left eye to blind it, then attacking in its newly made blindspot. Slashing at its legs, Teddy dropped it to the ground, where he began to viciously pummel and eventually kill it by slicing through its entire body with his right arm in a single swift motion with ease. Rowan, however, was having a bit of trouble, having to dodge out of the way and wait for the right moment to attack it. The Beowolf closed in on Rowan mere inches away as it jumped towards him. The very thing Rowan was waiting for as he unleashed his ultimate move. His hyper elbow. Using his semblance, the power to his elbow increased, allowing him to attack first and kill the Beowolf by breaking its neck in a devastating move. Rowan huffed a bit as he looked at Teddy. Teddy looked back at Rowan, impressed at the attack he had used. "Well, now that that's over, let's head to the temple," Rowan said to Teddy. Teddy nodded, and both boys began to walk toward the temple.
Author's Endnote: As you might have noticed, not all of them have used their semblances. That's intentional since each of them has different skill levels and strengths. Their semblances will be fully explained in a later mini-chapter, probably after they all get into their teams.
