Harry Potter's Coming to Hogwarts
I don't own Girl Meets World, Harry Potter, or any part of the MCU!
The rest of Thea's first year was uneventful. She passed all her exams with high marks and had accepted Mr. and Mrs. Weasley's offer to stay with them over the summer. That summer was spent whizzing around on brooms, practicing quidditch with the Weasley brothers, de-gnoming the garden, tables that groaned under Mrs. Weasley's mountains of delicious cooking, and visits to the nearby town or Diagon Alley.
Thea returned to Hogwarts for her second year, excited to get back to learning. Her second year passed much like her first, mostly uneventful, though she, Fred, and George all joined the quidditch team, the boys as beaters and Thea as a chaser, and ended with Thea again at the top of her class. Again, Thea spent the summer with the Weasley's. She helped Mr. Weasley with the muggle appliances he kept hidden in his shed, explaining what they all did and what they were for, and Mrs. Weasley taught her several recipes in the kitchen, Thea had always been a decent cook but under Mrs. Weasley's tutelage she thrived.
Throughout both the school year and the summers, Thea had little to no contact with her family. She sent and received Christmas and birthday gifts with her parents, Auggie, and even Riley, though Riley would return the gift unopened every time and never sent anything.
Thea had expected her third year to mimic her first and second, revolving mostly around studying, joking around with Fred and George, getting Fred and George out of trouble, helping plan pranks, and the endless quidditch practices the team captain, Oliver Wood, seemed to enjoy. Of course, Ron Weasley, who Thea had come to see as another little brother, would be joining them for his first year, and Thea was looking forward to having another friend at school.
But as it turned out, Fate was laughing at Thea. Not even snickering behind its hand, no. Fate was outright laughing in her face.
Harry Potter was coming to Hogwarts, and Thea's life would never be calm again.
Mrs. Weasley led her children and Thea through Kings Cross for the umpteenth time in the last 15 minutes. She had spotted a small, black haired boy with a Hogwarts trunk wandering around, looking lost and so she led them all past him dozens of times, loudly asking them "Where is Platform 9 3/4 again?" or "What's the platform number?" and one of her children or Thea would pipe up with the answer. But the boy was oblivious.
Thea wondered if they shouldn't just go up to him and ask if he needed help. They were all clearly Hogwarts students, the crest was emblazoned on each trunk, not to mention the two owls they had, Percy's and Thea's.
Just as she was about to suggest this to Mrs. Weasley, she called loudly "Packed with muggles, of course, always is."
And the boy finally seemed to notice them, his eyes lit up and he tried to follow them as inconspicuously as he could, as Molly led them to the space between Platforms 9 and 10.
"Now, what's the platform number?" Molly asked, looking around at the gaggle of children with her.
Percy looked incredibly bored, Fred and George were whispering to each other, no doubt planning their start of year prank which they would loop Thea in on on the train, Ron bounced anxiously on the balls of his feet, and Ginny was clutching Thea's hand excitedly.
"Nine and three quarters!" Ginny exclaimed "Mum, can't I go...?"
"You're not old enough, Ginny, now be quiet." Molly reminded her daughter "All right, Percy, you first."
Percy pushed his horn-rimmed glasses up his nose and marched to the barrier between the platforms. Thea watched the small boy who was craning his neck to see what Percy was going to so out of the corner of her eye. A crowd of tourists swelled from Platform 9 and blocked the view of Percy entering Platform 9 3/4. By the time they could see the barrier again, Percy had disappeared.
"Fred, you next." Mrs. Weasley ordered.
Fred pretended to frown "I'm not Fred, I'm George, honestly woman, you call yourself our mother? Can't you tell I'm George?"
Mrs. Weasley sighed "Sorry, George, dear."
Fred laughed "Only joking, I am Fred."
Fred walked slowly towards the barrier, taking his time.
"Hurry up!" George groaned.
Fred sent his twin a cheeky grin and vanished onto the platform. Mrs. Weasley motioned George to go next and he took off towards the barrier at a run. The boy seemed to pluck up his courage and hurried forward.
"Excuse me..." He stammered.
"Hello, dear," Mrs. Weasley hid a triumphant smile "First time at Hogwarts? Ron's new too." She gestured at her youngest son, who smiled nervously.
"Yes," The boy nodded "The thing is-the thing is, I don't know how to-"
"How to get onto the platform?" Thea offered and the boy nodded sheepishly "No worries, all you have to do is walk at the barrier between Platforms 9 and 10."
The boy's eyes widened and he looked very nervous.
Quickly, Thea said "You won't crash into it, don't worry about that. It helps to run at it if you're nervous."
"Yes, go now, before Ron and Thea." Mrs. Weasley offered.
"Um, I-I don't..." The boy looked between them nervously.
"I can go with you, if you'd like." Thea offered, sensing his anxiety "Sometimes it helps to not go alone the first time."
"Oh, you don't have to-"
"I don't mind." Thea insisted.
"Well, all right, if you're sure." The boy mumbled.
"I am." Thea turned her trolley toward the barrier "Let's go."
She walked swiftly towards the barrier, keenly aware of the black haired boy at her elbow. They passed through the barrier with ease, but the boy kept running for a moment, having closed his eyes just before they entered the wall, before he opened his eyes and slowed his trolley down, staring amazed at the large scarlet steam engine before him.
Thea grinned "It's an amazing view, isn't it?" The kid nodded mutely "Do you want help finding a compartment? Or with your trunk?"
"Uh, sure." The boy nodded.
"I'm Thea, by the way. Nice to meet you." Thea grinned.
"I'm Harry." The boy paused "Just-just Harry."
"Nice to meet you, Harry." Thea pointed down the platform "There are usually lots of open compartments down towards the end of the train, let's see if we can find one."
Thea led Harry down the platform, looking through the windows trying to find an open compartment. Finally she spotted one and pointed it out to Harry. Together, they tried to lift his heavy trunk up the stairs, but neither of them were particularly strong and they dropped it twice.
"Want a hand?" George's voice called, making Thea turn around.
"Yes, please." Harry panted.
George turned over his shoulder and shouted "Oy, Fred! C'mere and help!"
Fred jogged up to them "So this is where you've run off to, Thea. Replacing us already?" He feigned a hurt expression.
Thea rolled her eyes "Just help us with the trunk, doofus."
"And I'm feeling the love again." Fred grinned.
He and George helped Harry and Thea heft the heavy trunk into the compartment and they shoved it in a corner out of the way.
"Thanks." Harry brushed his now damp and sweaty hair away from his forehead.
Fred's eyes lit up as he noticed the lighting scar that marred Harry's forehead "What's that?" He. pointed.
"Fred!" Thea scolded.
But George had seen it too "Blimey, are you-?"
"He is." Fred ignored Thea's swat to his arm "Aren't you?"
"What?" Harry asked.
"Harry Potter." Fred and George chorused, excitement seeping into their words.
"Oh, him." Harry's face seemed to fall "I mean, yes, I am."
Fred and George stared at him in awe. Thea rolled her eyes at them and turned back to Harry.
"Sorry about them." She apologized "I would say they're not usually this strange but I'm not a liar."
Thea studied her friends for a moment before she snapped her fingers in front of their faces. No response.
"I think you broke them." She joked and Harry looked very uncomfortable "Good job, I've been trying to do that since I met them. I almost managed it in second year too." She patted Harry's shoulder "Relax, they'll come out of it when Molly calls them."
Sure enough, Molly Weasley's voice floated into the compartment, jolting Fred and George out of their state of shock.
"Fred? George? Thea? Are you in there?"
"Coming, Mum." George called faintly.
Fred and George glanced at Harry again before they each grabbed one of Thea's arms and pulled her off the train. Molly, Ron, and Ginny were just outside the train car.
"Ron," Molly took out her handkerchief "you've got something on your nose."
She started to scrub at her youngest son's nose, trying to get the dirt off.
"Mum-geroff!" Ron complained, wiggling free.
"Aaah, has ickle Ronnie got something on his nosie?" Fred teased.
"Shut up." Ron scowled.
Mrs. Weasley looked around "Where's Percy?"
"He's coming now." Thea pointed to where she could see Percy's head of bright red hair bobbing through the crowd.
Percy was already wearing his school robes and they billowed behind him, pinned proudly to his chest was his shiny, red and gold prefects badge that he'd been bragging about since he got it.
"Can't stay long, Mother, I'm up front," He puffed up pompously "the prefects have got two compartments to themselves-"
Fred gave a great, over-exaggerated gasp of fake surprise "Oh, are you a prefect, Percy? You should have said something, we had no idea."
"Hang on," George scrunched his face up, pretending to think "I think I remember him saying something about it, once-"
"Or twice-" Fred nodded.
"A minute-" George pointed to Thea.
"All summer." She smirked.
"Oh, shut up." Percy grumbled.
George turned to his Mother "Why does Percy get new robes, anyway?"
"Because he's a prefect." Molly smiled proudly "All right, dear, have a good term-send me an owl when you get there."
She kissed Percy's cheek and he headed back towards the front of the train.
Mrs. Weasley turned to Fred and George "Now, you two-this year, you behave yourselves. If I get one more owl telling me you've-you've blown up a toilet or-"
"Blown up a toilet? We've never blown up a toilet!" Fred said, offended.
"Great idea though, thanks, Mum." George grinned.
"It's not funny." Mrs. Weasley turned to Thea "Have a lovely year, dear. And if those two cause any trouble send me an owl."
Fred and George squawked indignantly "She's just as bad as we are!"
"And look after Ron." Mrs. Weasley ignored her children's protests.
"Don't worry," Fred laughed "Ickle Ronniekins is safe with us."
Ron glanced desperately at Thea.
"He's safe with me." Thea corrected.
"Shut up." Ron complained half-heartedly.
"Hey, Mum, guess what? Guess who we just met on the train?" George seemed to remember Harry.
Thea caught a glimpse of black hair leaning away from the compartment window and she smiled softly.
"You know that black-haired boy who was near us in the station? Know who he is?" Fred kept on.
"Who?" Mrs. Weasley asked, disinterestedly.
"Harry Potter!" Fred and George said together.
Mrs. Weasley jolted in surprise and Ginny gasped "Oh, Mum, can I go on the train and see him, Mum, oh, please..."
"You've already seen him, Ginny, and the poor boy isn't something you goggle at in a zoo." Mrs. Weasley said sternly, but her curiosity got the better of her "Is he really, Fred? How do you know?"
"Asked him." Fred smiled proudly "Saw his scar. It's really there-like lightning."
Molly sighed "Poor, dear-no wonder he was alone, I wondered. He was ever so polite when he asked how to get onto the platform."
"Never mind that," Fred lowered his voice "Do you think he remember what You-Know-Who looks like?"
Molly's face turned serious "I forbid you to ask him, Fred. Now, don't you dare. As though he needs reminding of that on his first day at school. Thea, make sure they don't ask him anything of the sort, please."
"You can count on me." Thea nodded and sent a warning look at Fred and George who yelped.
"All right, keep your hair on!" Fred grumbled.
The train whistle blew, signaling that it was about to leave. Molly began to usher them all onto the train frantically.
"Hurry up!" She called.
They all leaned out the window to wave goodbye and receive the customary farewell kisses. Ginny started to cry.
"Don't, Ginny, we'll send you loads of owls." Fred smiled.
"We'll send you a Hogwarts' toilet seat." George joked.
"George!" Molly scolded.
"Only joking, Mum." George defended.
"I'll do my best to keep them out of trouble." Thea waved "And I'll write to you lots, Ginny."
The train began to pull out of the station and Ginny, half laughing, half crying, chased the train until it was going too fast and she stopped, out of breath, to wave.
Thea turned around and saw Ron looking through the windows of the compartments nearby. He stopped at the one Harry was sitting in and nervously opened the door.
"Anyone sitting there? Everywhere else is full." Thea could hear Ron ask.
Harry must have invited him in because Ron entered the compartment.
"Ooh, ickle Ronnie's making friends!" George pretended to wipe a tear from his eye "Let's go meet them."
Fred, George, and Thea opened the compartment door and Fred grinned "Hey, Ron. Listen we're going down the middle of the train - Lee Jordan's got a giant tarantula down there."
Ron looked faintly sick at the mention of the spider and Thea shuddered, sharing his dislike of arachnids.
"Right." Ron mumbled.
"Harry, did we introduce ourselves? Fred and George Weasley. This is Ron, our brother. And Thea Matthews, our sister in all but blood. See you later then." Fred waved "Thea, you coming?"
"To see a giant spider?" Thea deadpanned "No way. Have fun though. I'll find someone to hang out with until you get back."
"Okay, see you later." George nodded.
"Bye, stay out of trouble, all of you." Thea glared at the twins and sent a stern glance at Ron.
She headed off down the train to find someone to sit with.
"Are all your family wizards?" Harry asked Ron a bit later.
"Er - Yes, I think so." Ron nodded "I think Mum's got a second cousin who's an accountant, but we never talk about him."
"So you must know loads of magic already." Harry sounded nervous.
Ron quickly changed the subject "I heard you went to live with Muggles, what are they like?"
"Horrible - well, not all of them." Harry sighed "My Aunt, Uncle, and cousin are though."
"Yeah?" Ron asked "Thea's parents and her little brother aren't that bad apparently, but her sister's a monster from what I've heard."
"Isn't Thea your sister?"
"Not officially." Ron shook his head "She lives with us though. She grew up in the States, New York, I think."
"Why's she at Hogwarts then?" Harry wondered "Aren't there schools in America too?"
"Yeah, there are." Ron nodded "But Thea got specially invited to Hogwarts, I dunno why, I don't think she knows either honestly. But her sister apparently didn't like that Thea had magic so Thea just hasn't been back since Christmas two years ago."
Harry was reminded vividly of Aunt Petunia and how she'd screamed that his mother, her sister, was a freak.
"She lives with us and she's basically family now." Ron continued "But she, Fred, and George are the worst pranksters. Nowhere's safe from them."
Ron began to explain the pranks his brothers and Thea had pulled and Harry had to admit that the amount of planning that must have got into them was impressive.
"Wish I had three wizard brothers, and a witch sister." Harry sighed.
"Five." Ron suddenly sounded gloomy "I'm the sixth in our family to go to Hogwarts. Seventh if you count Thea. You could say, I've got a lot to live up to. Bill and Charlie have already left-Bill was Head Boy and Charlie was Captain of Quidditch. Now Percy's a prefect. Fred and George mess around a lot but they still get really good marks. I think that's thanks to Thea though, she's top of her year. Everyone thinks they're really funny and Thea is almost all the teachers favorite. Everyone expects me to do as well as the others, but if I do, it's no big deal, because they did it first. You never get anything new either, with five brothers. I've got Bill's old robes, Charlie's old wand, and Percy's old rat."
Ron pulled a slumbering grey rat out of his jacket pocket to show Harry.
"His name's Scabbers and he's useless, he hardly ever wakes up." Ron sighed "Thea has an owl so she can write to her parents and brother and Percy got an owl from my Dad for being made a prefect, but they couldn't aff-I mean, I got Scabbers instead."
Harry was quick to assure Ron that he'd never had any money before learning he was a wizard. He told Ron about how he had been stuck wearing Dudley's old clothes and never getting proper birthday presents.
The two talked for ages, a lady with a candy trolley offered them some and Harry bought some of everything. He and Ron gorged themselves on sweets and laughed.
Soon there was a knock on the door of their compartment and a teary eyed boy opened the door "Sorry, but have you seen a toad at all?" He asked.
Harry and Ron shook their heads.
The boy wailed in despair "I've lost him! He keeps getting away from me!"
"He'll turn up." Harry tried to comfort the boy before he actually started to cry.
"Yes, well, if you see him..." The boy sounded miserable as he closed the compartment door to continue his search.
"Don't know why he's so bothered." Ron mumbled "If I'd brought a toad I'd lose it quick as I could. Mind you, I brought Scabbers, so I can't talk." Scabbers snored away on Ron's lap "He might have died and you wouldn't know the difference, I tried to turn him yellow yesterday to make him more interesting, but the spell didn't work. I'll show you, look..."
Ron dug around in his trunk and pulled out an old looking wand with a bit of the Unicorn hair core poking out the end
"Unicorn hair's nearly poking out. Anyway-" Ron raised his wand ready to do the spell when the door slid open again.
"Has anyone seen a toad? Neville's lost one." A bossy sounding girl with large front teeth and bushy hair, already dressed in her new school robes asked.
"We've already told him we haven't seen it." Ron grumbled but the girl wasn't listening, looking instead at Ron's raised wand.
"Oh, are you doing magic? Let's see it, then." She demanded.
She sat down and Ron looked at Harry, bewildered "Er-all right." He cleared his throat and chanted "Sunshine, daisies, butter mellow, turn this stupid, fat rat yellow."
Nothing happened.
The girl frowned "Are you sure that's a real spell?" She went on before Ron could answer "Well, it's not very good, is it? I've tried a few simple spells just for practice and it's all worked for me. Nobody in my family's magic at all, it was ever such a surprise when I got my letter, but I was ever so pleased, of course, I mean, it's the very best school of witchcraft there is, I've heard-I've learned all our course books by heart, of course, I just hope it will be enough-I'm Hermione Granger, by the way, who are you?"
She finally paused to take a breath and Harry and Ron glanced at each other, both grateful to see that neither had memorized the course books either.
"I'm Ron Weasley." Ron muttered at last.
"Harry Potter." Harry introduced himself.
Hermione gasped "Are you really? I know all about you of course-I got a few extra books, for background reading, and you're in Modern Magical History and The Rise and Fall of the Dark Arts and Great Wizarding Events of the Twentieth Century."
"Am I?" Harry's head was spinning with how much Hermione was talking.
"Goodness, didn't you know, I'd have found out everything I could if it was me." Hermione sounded very superior "Do either of you know what house you'll be in? I've been asking around and I hope I'm in Gryffindor, it sounds by far the best; I hear Dumbledore himself was in it, but I suppose Ravenclaw wouldn't be too bad..."
"Hufflepuff's a very nice house too." Thea's voice made both Harry and Ron relax "Hard work and determination, very useful. Even Slytherin isn't all bad. They get a bad rep, but some them are quite nice."
"Who are you?" Neville asked, everyone promptly remembered him standing by the door.
"I'm Thea, what're your names?" Thea raised an eyebrow at Neville and Hermione.
"Neville Longbottom." Neville murmured.
"I'm Hermione Granger." Hermione smiled toothily "You must be the American student I've heard about."
"I must be." Thea nodded "Hey, Ron, Harry, mind if I steal a chocolate frog?"
"Go ahead, but I want it if it's Agrippa." Ron nodded.
Hermione looked scandalized that he would be so forward "You can't just say that!" She protested.
Ron frowned "Why not? Thea always gets lucky with the cards."
"Because-"
"Yeah, Ron's my brother in all but blood." Thea nodded as she unwrapped the frog "Ooh! It is Agrippa! Here you go, Ron." She passed a now grinning Ron the card.
Hermione's argument died on her lips and she looked very flustered "Oh, well, I just assumed..."
Thea chuckled "It's all right, I haven't been back to the States in a few years. I've been staying with Ron's family."
A look of realization passed over Neville's face that didn't escape Thea's sharp eye.
"That's right!" She nodded "We met briefly the summer after my first year. We were on a trip to Diagon Alley and Mrs. Weasley and your grandmother talk forever. It's nice to see you again, Neville."
Neville flushed and smiled weakly, still looking very upset about his toad.
Hermione quickly stood up "We'd better go and look for Neville's toad. You two better change, you know, I expect we'll be there soon."
Thea leaned in "You have some time, just change before it gets dark and you'll be fine." She straightened back up "Do you want some help looking for your toad?"
"That's all right, thank you." Hermione shook her head "We'll just keep asking around."
"Okay." Thea sat back in her seat as Hermione led Neville out.
"Whatever house I'm in, I hope she's not in it." Ron tossed his wand back in his trunk "Stupid spell-George gave it to me, bet he knew it was a dud."
"The Yellow Rat spell?" Thea asked and Ron nodded "Yeah, he just made that one up."
"What house are your brothers in?" Harry asked "And you, Thea?"
"Gryffindor." Ron answered gloomily "Mum and Dad were in it, too. I don't know what they'll say if I'm not. I don't suppose Ravenclaw would be too bad, but imagine if they put me in Slytherin."
Thea shook her head "They would love you regardless. Plenty of perfectly nice witches and wizards have been in Slytherin. Merlin himself was a Slytherin, you know."
"But that's the house Vol-I mean You-Know-Who was in, wasn't it?" Harry asked.
"Yes, but he's one example. There have been bad witches and wizards in every house and outside of Hogwarts too. Slytherin's main trait is ambition, they work hard to get what they want." Thea explained.
Harry and Ron stared at the older girl in confusion as she bit into a second chocolate frog before changing the subject.
"What do your oldest brothers do now that they've left, anyway?" Harry questioned.
"Charlie's in Romania studying dragons, and Bill's in Africa doing something for Gringotts, did you hear about Gringotts? It's been all over the Daily Prophet, but I don't suppose you get that with the muggles-someone tried to rob a high security vault." Ron exclaimed.
"Really?" Harry asked "What happened to them?"
"Nothing, that's why it's such big news. They haven't been caught. My Dad says it must have been a powerful dark wizard to get 'round Gringotts, but they don't think they took anything, that's what's odd." Ron shook his head "'Course, everyone gets scared when something like this happens in case You-Know-Who's behind it."
The compartment fell silent as the train continued to rumble down the tracks, taking them towards Hogwarts. Ron and Harry started to talk Quidditch and Thea eventually said goodbye to go get her robes on.
Thea pulled on her school robes, fingering the scarlet and gold Gryffindor crest over her heart and started to walk down the train, looking for Fred and George. They were in a compartment with Lee Jordan.
"Ready for another year?" Thea asked.
"Ready if you are." Fred nodded "Where've you been all this time?"
"I hung out with Katie, Alicia, and Angelina a bit. Then I stopped by Ron's compartment." Thea shrugged "For some reason, I don't think this year will be nearly as calm as I thought it would be."
"What makes you say that?" Lee questioned.
"I don't know. Just a hunch."
