CHAPTER 29

The Laguz Alliance, thanks to the victorious efforts of the Greil Mercenaries, won the previous night's battle. "I appreciate your help", Ranulf said to Ike with a smile across his face. Ike chuckled a little, saying that Ranulf should be thanking Soren for it was his own idea, as he was the Greil Mercenaries's strategic tactician. Then, a set of people were calling out Ike's name. It was merchants Muston, Aimee, Daniel, and his twin brother Jorge.

"Ah-ha, you came." said Ike to Muston.

"Long time, no see, Commander Ike!" said Muston. "You look rather tip-top in shape, if you ask me."

"Ha ha ha!" laughed Ike. "I can thank my training for that, Muston." Ike said.

"It is wonderful to be working with the Greil Mercenaries again." Muston said. "Same thing with you, my feline friend." he said to Ranulf.

"Oh, Muston." said Ranulf as he blushed a bit. "For once, I thought you smelled the battle and sensed a fine profit."

"Ranulf, we can't fight naked like you laguz can." said Ike. "I called them over here. Them and some other comrades."

"Yes, Ranulf." said one soldier.

"They just followed us here." said Muston.

"We could use more soldiers anyways." said Ike. "Ranulf," he said as he turned to Ranulf, "Gallia did help us fight Daein; we are returning the favor to help Gallia's people in need."

"Why that's so nice of you to help out our laguz kingdom, Ike." said Feradina as she approached Ike with her sister Felidae.

"Ah, Feradina." said Ranulf. "Is everything ready for the next battle?" he asked.

"Yes, Sir Ranulf!" said Felidae. "We are ready to head out!"

Ranulf gave a chuckle. Their next location was the region of Telgam.

The Telgam region was just about to be taken by the Laguz Alliance. The fort there was guarded by the strictest of Begnion's military. They were far out racist towards the laguz. Ranulf, having remembered what had happened to him three years ago in Crimea with a set of villagers, he remained shifted in his cat form, acting like he was a guard cat for the Greil Mercenaries. The other laguz decided to do the same thing. Cecily Fliesher and the Laguz Confederation Legion stayed completely out of the Telgam area under Cecily's orders, as shie knew they would be against the fact that she protects laguz changelings from those harsh and racist beorc beings who disrespect laguzkind.

"Gods…this is going to be scary." said Kamaria.

"You're never scared, Kamaria." said Kito.

"Ugh, Brother!" yelled Kamaria.

"Halt!" yelled one Begnion soldier on a horse wielding a sword. "Who goes there."

"We are the–" said Kito.

"Hush right now!" yelled another horse mounted, sword-wielding Begnion soldier. "We sense those furry, stupid sub-humans on you. We must kill them."

Ranulf then charged while shifted into his cat form.

"GAH!" yelled one soldier. "Help me! Make it stop! MAKE IT STOP!"

"He's mauling off his face!" yelled one Begnion soldier.

"EEK!" yelled a Begnion Halberdier.

"Now, now, now!" yelled the Halberdier General Rommit. "I will find a way to–"

"Stop. Right. There!" yelled Ike.

"Oh, are you the leader of this mess?" asked Rommit.

"If you want to run away like a little coward, now's your chance." said Ike.

Rommit refused to drop his weapon and surrender.

"What are you doing?" asked Ike. "Are you waiting for something to happen?"

"...No." said Rommit nervously.

"Oh, my…" said Kito. "Are you going to kill him, Ike?"

"Hmm…I am still thinking about it." said Ike.

Kamaria then skewered Rommit through the head with her lance.

"Kamaria!" yelled Kito.

"Don't say I'm becoming more deadly than ever." said Kamaria.

Kamaria later flew off as the rest of the soldiers of the Laguz Alliance later went after her.

The soldiers did end up dropping their weapons and treasures.

"Look at how pretty this treasure is!" yelled Kamaria. "Can we keep all of this?"

"I)f it belongs to those racist bastards, we are going to sell it to get money." said Ross.

"Hold it, Ross." said Samantha. "I will keep a fair share of the jewelry that was here."

"Well, I guess I'll go by what Samantha said." said Kamaria. "I call to keep all the jewelry." Kamaria proclaimed.

"Come on, everyone!" yelled Ranulf. "We have to get back to camp!"

Everyone ended up following Ranulf. Kamaria still insisted that she keep half of the treasure and sell the other half.

"So Flaguerre, Mugill, and Telgam are ours now." said Ranulf. "Remember, this war has just started. The real battle is located in Sienne, the Begnion Capital." Ranulf proclaimed.

"My claws do itch for beorc flesh." said Skrimir. "Tell me, Ranulf. Are there strong enemies in the capital?"

"There will be plenty of beorc flesh to chew on, Skrimir." said Ranulf. "But there is something we have to do first. We have to fight a collective army of northern nobles. Their army is massive." Ranulf mentioned.

Soren imagined that the central army of Begnion was headed their way, which according to him, it was going to be a really big problem for the mercenaries to advance.

"Well, I can just spear them, right?" asked Kamaria.

"Oh, come on, that's not going to help!" yelled Kito.

"Hey, spice it up!" yelled Kamaria. "Looks like the entirety of the Begnion Army's going to get speared and skewered like cooked pigs!"

"Now, now, Kamaria." said Ranulf. "It's not yet time to head on out to the battlefield yet."

"If we are too slow, we'll end up getting caught straight down the middle." said Titania.

"She has a point, Kamaria." said Soren. "Don't get excited."

"Awww, man!" said Kamaria. She later left the room.

Ike never liked the sound of what he had just heard from everyone. He asked Soren if a deployment plan was set for the company. Soren was about to say something, only for Ranulf to interrupt, saying he had a plan in store.

"What is it?" asked Soren.

"An army of a humongous size like the Begnion Central Amy's would require stamina! Lots of it, that is." said Ranulf. "Therefore, we can sustain ourselves with all the supplies we need."

"I see." said Titania.

"Therefore, the bird tribes are going to hit the supply unit." said Ranulf.

"Hey, I can help too, right?" asked Kamaria. "I spear like a hawk with my lance!"

"I could compare her to a hawk laguz all day." said Kito.

"Well, the bird tribes are feared by Begnion. Shipless Pirates, they're called." said Ranulf. "After all the ships they have raided from Begnion, they would be perfect."

"And they'll head north once the supply unit is hit." said Ike.

"Right, Ike!" exclaimed Ranulf.

"Once the noble's forces are done, we'll meet up with the bird laguz." Ike proclaimed.

"And when the Central Army arrives, we attack together, right?" asked Kamaria.

"That's what I was about to say, but yes." answered Ike.

Soren was surprised with Ranulf's strategic move. He predicted a victorious outcome, shall everything go as planned.

Meanwhile, with King Naesala of the Raven Laguz and King Tibarn of the Hawk Laguz, they all had their accompanying laguz with them, including Nealuchi of the raven laguz clan and Janaff and Ulki of the hawk laguz clan. Begnion was getting a bit close to them; Tibarn decided to take a rest with his men while Naesala and his raven laguz went off into the Begnion lands. But as Naesala and his ravens headed forth, they changed their minds and went to speak to the Hawk Laguz King himself.

"Odd of you to join the Laguz Alliance." said Tibarn to Naesala. "I wish you could be this helpful all the time."

"Tibarn, not now." said Naesala. "I am nowhere interested in your friendship."

"But the Hawks and Ravens used to live together in Phoenicis! We were like brothers! Birds of a feather, to tell you the truth!" exclaimed Tibarn. "Perhaps you can fess up on some of your little secrets."

Naesala did not know what Tibarn was talking about. Tibarn stated that there was a secret about how he became first in line to succeed the Kilvas throne. Naesala's memories started to come back to him. He did nothing but want to tell that secret.

"Sounds fine to me." said Tibarn.
