CHAPTER 40
"Alright, people." said Sothe. "The laguz failed to cross the river."
Micaiah's forces were already deployed. She wasn't very pleased, but the fighting had to be done.
Micaiah did want to learn more about Ike. Bri, having fought with Ike in the Mad King's War, told her everything about Ike. "He sounds quite different from King Pelleas." said Micaiah.
"They don't compare, Micaiah." said Bri. "King Pelleas lacks good leadership and decision-making skills." she mentioned. "Ike's got it all."
"Still, King Pelleas has a heart." said Micaiah.
"Guys, this is no time for the damn chit-chat." said Sothe. "We have to focus on the enemy."
Sothe then turned around, facing the Laguz Alliance.
"I don't want to do this…but it has to be done." Micaiah thought to herself.
"It is time." said Ranulf. "Beorc, ready your blades and spells. Laguz, ready your fangs and claws."
Everyone followed Ranulf's orders. The laguz were then given the order to shift into their animal forms.
"Ready…by the right…..Fight!" yelled Ranulf.
Everyone started to charge.
"The laguz are charging." said Sothe. "Bri, get ready."
Bri readied her javelin and was ready to skewer someone.
"Ready…by the front…Charge…..and…FIGHT!" yelled Sothe.
Micaiah's army later charged.
The goal for both armies was to not kill any known forces.
As black wyverns flew over the battlefield with soldiers clad in grey and black armor, there was also another threat. Pegasi that were completely shed in black complete with black wings and feathering. The soldiers mounted on these flying black horses were all females clad in black and grey dresses and scarves; most of which had black helmets on complete with decorative ornaments in gold. They were casting lightning spells on the battlefield. It was like a fierce thunderstorm.
"Where are these guys coming from?" asked Sothe.
"Retreat!" yelled Ranulf. "It's getting dangerous as a thunderstorm out here!"
"There is no retreat. There is no surrender!" yelled one of the females mounted on the black pegasus. "The sharpness of our forces are fierce as thunderstorms." said the lady on the black pegasus. "If you do not retreat now, we will strike you with our spells!"
"Now this lady's justy forcing us to retreat." said Bri.
"We are not retreating!" yelled Kamaria.
"You asked for it!" yelled the lady on the black pegasi. She then casted a bunch of Arcthunder and Thoron spells.
"Retreat!" yelled Micaiah.
"Retreat, laguz!" yelled Ranulf. "They are too powerful!"
Samantha, who was present on the battlefield, cast a fire spell to attempt to kill the ladies on the black pegasi. Swift as lightning, complete with the lightning speed, the ladies all got away.
"This is bastardous." said Kito. "How could they possibly get away from us?" he asked.
"Come on." said Ike.
"Oh, we'll see how much those soldiers run for when they're dead like tiger's prey." said Ranulf.
Everyone on Ike's side then retreated. However, the hawk tribe was coming towards the ladies on the black pegasi.
"Hawk laguz?!" asked one of the dark fliers. "Now we are taking down these feathered bastards!"
"Quick!" yelled another dark flier. "Defend and brace yourselves!"
King Tibarn later charged and intercepted three dark fliers, killing two of them and leaving one of them stuck in the Ribahn River. After that, only Janaff, Ulki, and King Tibarn went with Ike.
"Was that just a decoy?!" asked Sothe.
"It was." said Bri. "Ike's forces were clearly a decoy."
Back at the Daein Keep, Pelleas got word from Senator Lekain that Micaiah failed to eradicate the Laguz Alliance. Clearly, Pelleas was not a happy man, let alone a pleased king. Lekain wondered if that was how the people of Daein repay Begnion for the kindness they have deployed to the country. Lekain then declared that the relationship between Daein and the senate was to stop right at that very moment.
"Give me one more chance! I beg of you, Senator Lekain!" yelled Pelleas.
"No!" yelled Lekain. "You bastards betrayed the kindness and the trust of the Begnion Army!" he yelled. "No way am I giving a second chance." said Lekain.
"Screw you, you bastardous, aristocratcratic senator of Begnion!" yelled Pelleas as he walked away.
"Hmph." grunted Lekain. "This is how it ends…"
