"Oh man... I'm full!"
Flopping down on her bed, Daphne collapsed backwards and just lay there staring up at the canopy that sat over her head. The meal had been amazing! Not the taste that she had been expecting, but it certainly was good enough for her to have indulged enough to feel stuffed.
"It was nice that the ladies helped us get our stuff to our rooms. They didn't have to do that." Velma commented, looking up at her companion who had all but crashed on her bed. While the food was good, Velma had spent more time chatting with Tanis, Elsa and Phantasma who had settled on their side of the table. Enjoying the food and conversation. Not that Daphne didn't chat up Tanis and Sibella, but she certainly had gone back for seconds.
"Well, they did invite us here. So, it was what a good host would do." Daphne said with a wave of her hand from the bed. Not even picking her head up to look at her best friend. "It's what I would have done."
"True... Hm."
Having placed her suitcase on her bed, Velma was rifling through it to find her pajamas. Pausing only to take a look about the room that she and Daphne had been brought to. It was a lot more well-kept then the first room she was in earlier. There was no dust to be seen, and the sheets looked far newer then the previous room she had been put in. Wondering why Shaggy might have been put in that room before, unless that room was more for the teachers and they were in more of a guest room that saw more use. At least that would make sense to her. Her bed sat on one side of the room, while Daphne's was on the other. And there was a good amount space between the two beds, making this a rather large room that they had been set up with. Reminding her of some of the fancier hotels that they had been across in the past.
Finding what she was looking for, it didn't take long for her to scoop up the clothing and bringing it to the bathroom to get dressed. That was another nice thing from both rooms she had been in... connected bathrooms. Not having to travel far for privacy.
"You know... you should think about getting dressed before you fall asleep like that." Velma peeked out of the bathroom after getting dressed to toss the comment towards the redhead. Making sure to brush her teeth before leaving.
"Yeah yeah. Though why do I feel like I should be wearing kidnap wear?" Daphne mentioned, finally heaving herself up and looking in her own suitcases to look over her options.
"Why did you think I choose sweatpants instead of a nightgown." Velma chuckled as she left the bathroom with her clothes bundled in her arms. True to her statement, she had opted for red sweatpants and a button up orange and red nightshirt. It was comfortable but also mobile. Perfect in case someone wants to sneak into their room at night and they need to hit the ground running. The last she wanted was to be caught with her pants down... so to speak.
"I don't think Sibella would have some night time event that we wouldn't be warned about beforehand, like a good host... but it's hard to not feel a bit unnerved sleeping in a Ghoul School, with real ghouls." Daphne said with the shake of her head. She had nothing against the ladies, but it was a lot of supernatural to take at one time. Sure, she had her time with ghosts and ghouls before. But it was one thing to chase them down for capturing, it was another to be sleeping under the same roof as guests.
"Yeah, but as strange as this trip is... and my mind keeps thinking that something is going to pop out of nowhere and scare the living daylights out of me..." Velma paused, giving her pillow a bit of a fluff before putting it on her bed. "I am looking forward to tomorrow and meeting the girls."
"Heh, little miss scaredy cat is getting a mystery buzz, eh?" Daphne taunted Velma, dodging a freshly fluffed pillow that sailed towards her head.
"Hush you, Yes. I fainted at the sight of a dragon, and the howling of a werewolf. Shaggy didn't exactly warn us what we were walking ourselves into. Though not that I would have believed him if he had." Velma snorted, working on another pillow and more than willing to toss that towards Daphne as well. The beds had actually come with an abundance of pillows, so she had several more shots before she had to invade Daphne's territory for close pillow combat.
"Actually..." Tossing the pillow back at Velma with a light toss, Daphne returned it to Velma without conflict. More than willing to jump into a pillow fight, but she still wasn't fully dressed for the occasion. Not wanting to wrinkle her normal outfit any more then she already had. "...That howling was Melvin. The poor guy was more scared then you were."
Hiking her chosen PJ's, Daphne tossed a raspberry towards the brunette. "You took the easy way out and just fainted."
Velma threatened to wipe that expression off her face with a well-placed pillow, but Daphne quickly skipped into the bathroom and closed the door before she could toss another one at her.
"Humph."
Placing down the pillow, Velma fetched a book from inside her suitcase and settled down on the bed. Pulling the covers, she snuggled into the comforters and the stacked pillowed she propped behind her. Shifting the small lamp beside her bed, she made sure that she had enough light to read her book. Bad enough that Daphne was making fun of her for passing out, she didn't need a lecture on her reading habits. Though thinking about it, she wasn't sure this was the best time to re-read "Something Wicked This Way Comes" by Ray Bradbury.
Shrugging, it wasn't like she had another book on her at the time. So, she opened up where she had left off, tucking her bookmark between two fingers for quick bookmarking. Sliding into the words and quite quickly becoming engrossed with the tale of the Dark Carnival and the two boys that experienced it. So much in fact, that Velma didn't notice the glowing form that was creeping into her peripheral vision until the head had fully stuck out of the nearby wall. Phanty had been curious what Velma had been reading, and moved through the wall to take a closer look.
"Hey Velms, can I borrow your WAH!"
Coming out of the bathroom, Daphne accidentally slammed the lighter then she was expecting door, against the wall. That distracted Velma enough from her book to notice the head that was hovering inches away from her own, who had gotten caught up in the same paragraph Velma had been. Thus, spooking the bespectacled woman, who then flung herself across the room and into Daphne's arms along with her dirty laundry.
"ppffffttt..."
Trying to blow some of her own hair out of her face, Daphne was more used to Shaggy and Scooby doing this to her. But it wasn't beyond Velma to do this as well, so it was more a sigh then anything unexpected. Shifting Velma in her arms, she freed up a hand so she could move the distracting lock of hair and then look over at what... well who had frightened her best pal.
"Oh, hi... Phantasma, right?"
Half hanging out of the wall, the slightly glowing blue ghost woman was blinking in surprise as Velma had gone from sitting beside her, to vanished across the room into Daphne's arms. And somehow in all the rush, Velma had still been able to put a bookmark into the book, so that she would be able to pick it right up even after the fright.
"Ah ha-ha... sorry Miss Velma. I didn't mean to scare you… again." Looking meek, Phanty slowly retracted herself from the wall, feeling like she should leave. Placing down the book she had picked up to look at after Velma had dropped it.
"Nah, don't feel bad. When she gets really into a book, even Scooby can spook Velma out of her seat if she wasn't expecting him." Daphne tried to comfort the ghost woman from Velma's actions, as Velma climbed out of Daphne's arms and was trying to removed herself from the skirt she had half crawled into.
"Yes, I'm sorry Phantasma. Pffftt..." Finally kicking off the skirt, Velma turned towards Phanty. "I just didn't expect you to come out of the wall like that. I thought you ladies were going to bed, since the students should be back some time tomorrow."
"Yeah, but we wanted to see if you ladies didn't mind some company... for a little bit."
Pulling herself out of the wall, she sat on the bed and shyly poked the tips of her fingers through each other. Well, slightly above the bed, but it was close enough that it was hard to notice unless you were specifically looking. She had changed from her earlier outfit, to a similar light blue nightgown with white socks. Her frame was small, and felt even smaller as she tucked into herself as she felt bad for coming in unannounced like that. It had been so long since she had guests that weren't familiar with a phantom, that she wasn't used to not just phasing into rooms to hold conversations with people.
Daphne and Velma shared a look, before glancing back to Phantasma.
"We?"
