You Deserve Your Necklace
While Peter is in the Hospital recovering, Mark wants to give him a gift to cheer him up. His sister and he soon enter a strange mysterious shop owned by a woman named Madam Web. Do not Own Spectacular Spider-Man…
In New York…
Everyone was still in a state of shock after what happened days ago.
Norman Osborn was the Green Goblin. He almost destroyed New York. Spider-man and Molten Man stopped him. Spider-man saved the captain and his fellow hero from death. The Green Goblin is dead. Everyone was still talking about it, and it was spreading all across the country. The news played out what happened since it happened. Of course, this hasn't died down yet, and it won't anytime soon since it was the biggest thing since the Avengers and the Fantastic Four. The Bugle became the top newspaper firm since being the first to show the sense thanks to their injured journalist who is recovering in the hospital after getting too close to the action between heroes and villains.
"I still can't believe Osborn went nuts and tried to blow up the city."
"Good thing Spidey and Molten wiped the floor with him."
"Yeah, I wished they did it sooner."
"Can't believe Spidey took him out, like for good."
"Spider-man didn't kill him. I was there. He saved the captain of police and Molten Man before Goblin skewered them both."
"Yeah, Osborn killed himself."
"Maybe he intended it to hit him."
"No way! Spidey would never do that."
"Maybe he should have killed him. If he did kill these crooks, we wouldn't be constantly invaded. I say Spidey should start wasting them."
"But if he did that, how long before he starts wasting us? I think it's good he has a moral code."
"Still can't believe Osborn went the deep end."
"Heard he used some kind of chemical. The government came into his corporation and confiscated every last drop. They are still investigating Oscorp."
"So, do you think it's true? What Osborn said?"
"That he created Spider-Man and Molten Man. Doubtful. That guy was nuts."
"Plus, even if he did make them, why turn against them? I mean, they made them into super weapons."
"Maybe that's why they turned."
"I don't think they knew that Osborn had a hand in this. They sounded surprised. Plus, didn't Molten Man's creation was an accident?"
"Maybe he made it look like an accident."
The mindless gossip was driving Mark nuts as he was on his way to the hospital with his sister to visit his boyfriend recovering. Thankfully the doctor agreed to cover for Pete and say Spider-man is at a secret location to recover while Pete got hurt taking pics.
It was believable.
"What was Petey thinking putting himself in danger like that? He could have been killed." Liz growled; unhappy her friend was harmed.
"Harry wanted Muy pequeño to take pictures of the Goblin unmasked, to prove his family's innocence. Ironically, his family only got exposed." Mark sighed, still angry Harry blamed both Spidey and Petey, "He didn't even technically send those pictures. His boss found them after he got committed to the ICU."
"That Osborn, I know he lost his dad and stuff, he had no right blaming Pete." Liz huffed, feeling bad for Gwen.
It was sad that she had to stick with Harry, Mark told her about the substance abuse, and she knew that Harry was using that to keep Gwen from having something to one-up Pater. She was still shocked his best friend was so jealous of him.
It was kind of sickening.
"Do you think these flowers are nice enough for Petey?" Mark wondered as he looked at the bouquet.
"He'll love whatever you bring him," Liz answered with a smile.
"But I still wonder if it's good enough for him. I want to give him something he deserves and should have forever." Mark responded.
"Maybe you can find what you are looking for in here …"
"Maybe you can find what you are looking for in here," Liz advised, a little dazed, as she pointed at the strange shop that appeared out of nowhere.
Madam Web's Shop of Wonders is what the latest business said.
"Huh, never seen this place before. I didn't even see it when we were walking by." Mark mumbled, confused about how this place just appeared before them but shrugged off the strange feeling, "Looks pretty interesting… I wonder if they'll have anything Petey would like."
The Allen Siblings then trotted inside as they were lured by the spell of whoever was inside.
Inside was a world of strangeness and intrigue. Mark didn't know how long he was in there, but he soon found a pedestal with a gorgeous spider necklace of silver and gems. It was so beautiful and glamorous, looked like it was expensive and ancient.
"This would be the perfect gift for your love. You should get it."
"This is the perfect gift for Muy pequeño. I should get it." Mark surmised as he took the necklace from the pedestal.
He soon found his sister and found themselves at the counter to pay for the necklace, where a strange elderly woman was waiting for them.
"Welcome, dear children. Welcome to Madam Web's Shop of Wonders and I am Madam Web." The woman greeted with an odd energy around her.
"You-we didn't even-." Mark mumbled as he and Liz were surprised.
"Oh, the eyes can trick the weary shopper. Madam Web is always here for any soul who is in need of something. I see you have uncovered the relic you desire."
Mark then looked at the necklace and placed it on the table.
"Woah, Mark where did you find that?" Liz wondered.
"This is truly a desired item. One for only the purest of heart. Is it reserved for the one you love?" She wondered.
"Yeah. So how much-?"
"This item is free for you have saved this city from a perilous evil with the spider." Madam Web insisted.
"Are you sure?"
"Don't look a gift horse on the mouth, Bro. Petey's going to love it." Liz insisted.
"Indeed, he will, and he will enjoy the properties it holds. For any who wears this will be protected by evil."
"Right. Well, thanks."
The two then left the shop with the smiling Madam Web.
"No, Thank you."
At the hospital…
Peter was looking at his gift, marveling at the gorgeous necklace that he was wearing.
"Mark, this is so beautiful. Thank you." Peter smiled before giving him a kiss.
"Where did you find this? It looks expensive." Aunt May wondered as she liked the nice necklace as well.
"At this shop called Madam Web's Shop of Wonders. Heard of it?" Mark answered.
"Nope, never say I have." Peter answered, "But her name sounds awesome."
The necklace shimmered as a secret energy remained hidden.
