Discharged
Peter can finally leave after his battle with the Goblin that almost took his life and now must adjust to how much New York has changed… how much everyone around him has changed. Do not own Spectacular Spider-Man…
At the hospital…
"Alright, Mr. Parker, looks like you're good to go." The Nurse informed the young man who was eating some a pudding provided for him.
Mark, May, and everyone who cared about Peter was there to see Pete discharged. After all the healing and sedatives, this little spider was finally free to go home. Yeesh, Osborn really did a number on him. Not that he regretted saving his boyfriend and the Police Captain from being pinned to a wall like a butterfly, but that didn't make it smart any less. What's worse was that he was forced to stay in bed the entire time. He couldn't go out as Spider-man (Mark made sure of that), he could walk around, and he wasn't even allowed to go to the bathroom. They put a catheter in him, and it was uncomfortable. Now, now he can go home and relax.
"That's wonderful and once we get you home, we'll get you to bed to rest." May grinned as Mark looked at the doctor.
"Is there anything else he needs before we head out?" Mark asked the doctor while picking up Pete to put him in a wheelchair.
"Mark, you don't need to do this. I can walk." Peter whined a bit, but it seemed people weren't listening to his complaints.
"Just a few medications to take with him and make sure he doesn't do anything stramineous, no heavy lifting, and especially no photography of Spider-man for big. His injuries need to heal properly. If his stitches pull, inform me at once." The doctor advised May and Mark.
"Don't worry, Peter is getting worker's compensation after the incident. We won't need to work until he's back on his feet." Robbie assured.
"And we'll be here to make sure Pete gets better," Liz assured him as everyone looked so exhausted with so much that had happened.
Peter then noticed it, how everyone in the room seemed… different. Pete thought it would be just him after the events of with-.
"Come on, Pete. Let's get you home." Mark smiled, though Peter could see the sadness, the guilt.
Did he blame himself-?
Peter was soon wheeled out as he noticed how much had changed since he was emitted to the hospital…
At Aunt May's Car….
Liz and Mark rode with Aunt May as Pete was comfortable with Mark in the back while Liz was riding shotgun.
Pete was leaning next to his boyfriend while watching the window outside. As they were driving, he could see the people look more… on edge, worn, aged with so many negative emotions coming all at once. Even the kids don't feel as safe as they were anymore. New York lost its glow as everyone was forced to pick up the pieces. It was so sad to see, to see the people look so down, so broken and so mistrustful.
It made Peter wonder if this was due to Norman's big reveal. Maybe it was just the final straw with the Big Man revealed, the Six, everything seemed to fall apart, and Green Goblin's death was the straw that broke the camel's back. Every lie was torn down and only the ugly truth was revealed.
Was it- was it his fault that this happened?
No, no he needed to stop these guys from hurting the city even more.
"Man, with the scars revealed, everyone can feel them," Mark muttered to himself as he held Peter closer.
"It is a shame to learn that Mr. Osborn was really something horrible. Even more so, that he was driven mad with substance abuse." May sighed but then looked to the boy she considered her own son, "I still won't forgive him for what he did to others, what he did to you."
"And what he did to Harry." Liz added, "Man, you should've seen how Harry took the news."
"That poor boy… his father should be ashamed for exposing his own child to something so dangerous. I hope that the government takes every last drop."
"Yeah, from what I heard from Warren; they won't leave a stone unturned. Everything contraband will get taken." Mark confirmed, "SHIELD is even talking about shutting down the company."
Yeesh.
Poor Harry.
Peter then looked at Mark while Liz and May were talking about what's been happening.
"Mark, hey, what happened to me, that's not your fault," Pete whispered.
"If I had seen that flying skewer coming-."
"No, don't blame yourself for what Osborn did. He's the one who started all this, for us and for everyone else." Peter countered, trying to give the best pep talk he could, "He left a huge mess of things. It's up to us to pick up the pieces and bring back some joy to New York."
"Nope, we can do that after you're healed. I'm not letting you get hurt again." Mark whispered to Pete then gave him a kiss.
"Awe, cute~," Liz spoke up as the two women were watching him.
"Don't mind us with your little moment." May giggled while the two blushed.
The four of them then got out as Pete's and Mark's high school friends were helping Peter get situated in the living room to be properly watched over. Spider-man made sure that once he was better, he was first going to bring back the sunshine, for everybody and even for himself as love deserved to feel once again in New York.
