Rise of the Reaper part 5:the resurgence of the hive

The sun rose the following morning and we went through our usual routine: waking up, having a cup of coffee, taking a shower (not necessarily in that order), and finally putting on our armor. Once we were ready, we left our place and went back to the cosmodrome. Our ghosts informed us that there was some unusual activity going on in the old skywatch, so we proceeded with caution. "So Reaper," Rose asked, "what do you think the speaker wants us to investigate here?" I thought about it for a second with my rifle at the ready. "I have no idea," I said, "but my tracker is going off like a motherfucker, so be careful." Rose nodded. Then, we heard a shriek like nothing we ever heard before. "What the fuck are they?" I asked Rev. "It's the hive," he said. I instinctively threw a flashbang. "Light them up!" I shouted as countless hive came running at us. Once the area was cleared, we proceeded up the two flights of stairs. "There's a wizard here!" My ghost informed us, "you gotta kill it!" We lit the wizard up like the fourth of July until it disappeared with a shriek. "The hive hasn't been on earth in centuries," Rev said as we made sure there was no more hive in the area as he continued, "the speaker has to be informed about this." We arrived at the tower later on that afternoon, and Rev told us to head to the north portion of the tower to meet the speaker. As we approached the speaker's observatory, he saw us and began speaking to us. "There was a time where we were much more powerful," the speaker began, "but that was long ago." "Until it wakes and finds its voice, I am the one who speaks for the Traveler," he continued as he reached the bottom of the stairs and walked towards us. He gestured for us to walk with him. "You must have no end of questions, guardians," the speaker said, "in its dying breath, the Traveler created the ghosts, to do what the Traveler itself no longer could." I looked up at Rev and the Traveler. "What happened to it?" I asked. The speaker continued. "I could tell you of the battle against the darkness, it's mortal enemy," he said, "now the children are frightened anyway." The speaker turned to us. "The darkness is coming back," he said, "we can not survive it this time." Then my ghost chimed in. "Its armies are everywhere," he said, "the Fallen are just the beginning." Rose and I turned to the speaker. "What can we do to help?" I asked. The speaker walked up to us. "Guardians are fighting on earth and beyond," the speaker said, "go. Your ghosts will guide you both. I only hope they chose wisely." With that, the speaker walked back up to his usual spot. "We're right, "my ghost said, "we're in this together now." We then walked back to our place to rest our heads.

Rise of the Reaper part 6:the warmind

The sun rose the next day rather slowly. Our ghosts woke us up, as usual, and we went through our usual routines: waking up, using the restroom, getting a cup of coffee in us, getting our armor on and our weapons prepped, and we went out back to the tower plaza to get our next mission. "Ah, Reaper and Rose, my two favorite guardians," said Zavala with pride, "are you ready for your next mission?" I nodded sternly. "Hey, I didn't know you had favorites, Zavala," Cayde said looking up from his map. "Well, with how these two have progressed so fast I have grown to like them," Zavala replied. Cayden shrugged his shoulders and looked back to his map as Zavala turned to us and began the mission briefing. "Your ghost has the details and will brief you once your boots are on the ground in old Russia," he said, snapping a salute, "good luck out there." We snapped a salute right back and left for old Russia. Once we had boots on ground, Rev started talking. "We're getting some weird readings from the forgotten shore, but that's miles from here," he said, "we set up a relay in the mothyards. Let's go." Once we got to the relay, I sent out Rev to scan the terminal. "We're linked!" He said, "if you want you can summon your sparrow and we can be at the forgotten shore in mere seconds." So, Rose and I took out our respective ghosts and summoned our own sparrows which kinda reminds me of a speeder bike from star wars. Anyways, once on our sparrows we sped towards the shore. "The Fallen's tapped into something near here," Rev said once we jumped off our sparrows, guns at the ready, "let's clear them out!" Once the Fallen were cleared from the immediate area, I sent Rev out to scan the object. "I can't understand what it's saying," he said, "but there's another object with the same frequency nearby." We nodded our heads and went to the other object and cleared the Fallen out of the area before Rose sent out her ghost to scan the object. "The same transmission," Anna said, "both things are linked to something in the terrestrial complex, let's check it out." As we entered the complex and worked our way up to the second floor, we ran into some resistance. "The Fallen are tapped into something in the back of the room," Rev said as we entered the room. I nod, having my gun at the ready. "Rose, is your ward ready?" I asked her. She shook her head after she hit a stealth vandal with a punch. "Give me about 45 seconds," she said as she whipped out her shotgun and blew a hole in the captain's stomach. I nodded my head as I took out my rocket launcher. "Okay, this servitor is annoying," I said as I launched a rocket its way and blew it up into a million pieces, "try getting back up from that." Rev flew back into my helmet a few minutes later. "Okay I've got as much as I can pull from it," he said, "we should destroy it." Under my helmet I smiled. "Then I should be able to do that easily," I said as I charged my fists with arc energy and I slammed next to the tap and terminated the tap, "so what was the Fallen trying to hack into Rev?" My ghost flew by my head and surveyed my handiwork. "The Fallen didn't get far," he said, "kept on hitting a firewall that started here in old russia." I turned my head slightly to look at Rev before he continued. "It looks like that old warmind is still up to its old tricks," Rev said, "it's Rasputin, an old warmind from before the collapse and somehow, we talked to it." I nodded. "Let's just transmat the hell outta here," I said as Rose and I transmatted to our ships and flew back to the tower. Once we got back to the tower, we were summoned by the vanguard to give our after-action report. "Rasputin is still alive?" Zavala asked, "how can that be?" I shrugged my shoulders. "I honestly don't know but he was keeping the Fallen from gaining access to him," I said to the leader of the titans, "they kept on running into his firewall." Ikora smiled. "At the very least that's progress," she said, "you two can take a few days off before we assign you your next mission." I smile. "A few days off is exactly what we need," I said, beating my sore shoulder, "the Fallen wouldn't stop trying to take us down." Cayde chuckled. "Don't they always try to take you down?" He asks us. To that I just laugh. "Yes they do, Cayde," I said as Rose and I left and headed back to our place to relax.
