Rise of the Reaper part 7:finding the diamond in the rough
Once we got back to our place, we changed out of our armor and into some casual clothes. "So babe," I said as I put on a muscle shirt, "what do you want to do since we got a few days off?" Rose looked at me as she put on a spaghetti strap tank top. "Ya know babe," she said as she put her hair up in a ponytail, "I haven't really thought about it." I gave her a puzzled look. "Really?" I asked, "you never gave it any thought?" Rose shook her head. "Never gave it any thought until now," she said, "why what did you have in mind?" I shrugged. "Well," I said, "we could check out the last city since we haven't had time to check it out as a couple." She smiled. "You know," Rose said, "I'm pretty sure we'd both enjoy that very much." I laughed and extended my hand for her to take. "Well then, let's go," I said, "the day is still young and we have plenty of time to check it out." We laughed as we went into the common areas of the last city. Once there, we checked out the many booths of the last city which were selling electronic cigarettes and everything that went with it (coils, juice, etc.) which made me happy since I remember that I was a former smoker and used a vape quite often. Once I made the purchase, Rose looked at me with a confused look. "You know how to use one of those?" She asks me as we sit down at a table so I can get the vape set up. I nod as I pre-treat the coil and get everything set so I can take a pull off the vape, which of course, I coughed since I haven't used one since I was brought back to life. "Yeah," I said in between coughs, "I used to use one before I died, so I know how one works." Rose gave me a surprised look. Then, we continued to walk around while holding each other's hands and came across a person selling romance novels. Rose was smiling as she looked at the books the person was selling. She proceeded to buy the entire twilight saga which surprised me that they still had the entire series in book form. She thanked the seller as we noticed the sun was beginning to go down. "We better head back to our place before it gets dark," I said. Rose nodded in agreement as we went back to the place where we call home for now to enjoy our purchases. "So Reaper," Rose said as she set her books down, "what flavor did you get for your vape?" I looked down at the bottle. "It looks to be a mix of dragonfruit, blueberry, and mint or menthol," I said, "it's also got six milligrams of nicotine in the liquid which is what I vaped at all the time before I died." We ended up heading to the bar and spoke with Barkeep while getting some food in us before we went back and got ready for bed. "Did you see the look on Barkeep's face when I showed him the vape?" I asked Rose, trying not to laugh. Rose looked over after taking off her bra (with my help) and chuckled. "Yeah, he was as surprised as I was when you showed him," she said as she put on a nightgown. I took a pull off the vape and blew out the smoke, happy as could be. "Yeah I know I was surprised to find one that still works!" I said as I got the batteries set to charge before we went to bed.
Rise of the Reaper part 8:dead orbit & the last array
Our rest was short, though. About three hours after we fell asleep, our ghosts woke us up. "Reaper, Rose," Rev said, "the vanguard have an urgent mission for the both of you, they want you to report to the hall of the guardians right away." I groaned. "It had better be important for them to wake us up at this time," I said as I helped Rose with her bra and then put on my armor. "Yeah, I was just getting comfortable, too," Rose added. We practically ran to the hall of the guardians. "What's the situation, sir?" I asked. "Ah Reaper and Rose," Zavala said, "Ikora will brief you on your mission." Ikora waved us over to her. "We're very sorry for waking you two up, but this mission is important," she said, "dead orbit has lost contact with three of its scouts who were tasked with getting an array online to connect us to the moon and beyond; we're suspecting the worst. If that happens, find their ghosts which have the codes on them and get that array operational!" We nodded our heads and checked our ammo supply before departing for the cosmodrome. Once we had our boots on the ground, we hightailed it to their last known location which was the skywatch. Once there, we saw hive and fallen literally fighting one another. "The Fallen might have the ghost shells of the dead orbit scouts," Rev said as we started killing the enemies. The first two enemies we killed didn't have the codes we needed. The third enemy, however, dropped the ghost shell that still had the codes we needed to power the array. "Now that we have the codes, let's get that array powered up," I said as we ran through the enemies, killing them as we went along. Once cleared, I deployed Rev, who had the codes, and started the long and painful process to get the array up and running. Once the array started to deploy, three hive tomb ships started showing up. "Looks like we gotta stop the hive from interrupting the process Rose," I said as I prepared to throw a pulse grenade. "Yeah, I can clearly see that!" Rose shouted as she threw a spike grenade to stop the hive from reaching the inner part of the complex. "Okay, all enemies neutralized," I said as the last hive knight was eliminated, "Rev, how we looking?" Rev turned around in surprise. "you guys gotta see this!" he shouted as Rose and I ran back to the location where I deployed Rev at to see the console lit up like a Christmas tree. "So now what Rev?" Rose asked. Rev turned to her. "Now we have access to the moon and other locations," he said, disappearing into my helmet. We shared a high five before we went back to the tower to report the success of the mission.
