Rise of the Reaper part 9:forming fireteam Pantheon
"Job well done you two," Zavala said as we snapped a salute to him before he continued speaking, "we may call on you to do a special mission called a strike later on in the week, so be ready." We nodded to him before we were dismissed. Once we got back to our place, we started to take off our armor. Once we got into our casual clothes, Rose asked the big question on both of our minds. "So babe, who do you think our third fireteam member is gonna be?" She asks as I prepped a pot of tea for us to drink. I shrugged my shoulders. "I'm hoping it's a sunsinger warlock primarily because of their super radiance which will help us in the long run," I said. Rose then wrapped her arms around my waist and nestled her head in the crook of my neck. "We could head to the bar and scope people out or ask barkeep if he's seen any warlocks around there," she said as she released her grip around my waist and grabbed her purse that she bought earlier in the month. I smirked, grabbing my jacket and putting it on. "Let's get going babe!" I said. The bar owned by barkeep was only a quick five minute walk from our place. Once there, I walked straight up to barkeep. "Reaper, Rose,"barkeep said as he laughed, "what brings you two here?" I gave barkeep a fist bump before Rose and I sat down at the bar. "We're looking for a warlock. Have you seen any of them lately?" I asked. Barkeep grinned. "You're in luck," barkeep said, "there's a lone warlock sitting at the other end of the bar." Sure enough, we saw the lone warlock sitting there just swirling her drink around and around. "Who should do the talking, you or me Rose?" I asked. Rose looked at the woman and then back at me before scratching her head as if she was confused. "I say you should talk to her since you have a way with women," she said. I nodded as I made my approach and sat down next to her. "So, um do you come here often?" I ask her. She set her drink down and turned her head to look me in the eyes. "First time here actually," she said, "name's Oracle, who're you two?" I extend my hand to offer Oracle a handshake. "Name's Reaper and this is Rose," I said as I gestured my hand in Rose's direction and she waved, "we're actually looking for a warlock, specifically a sunsinger to help us with a strike mission later this week. Are you interested?" Oracle just laughed. "Well, I just so happen to be working on my sunsinger skill tree and I was getting bored doing patrols all the damn time so I guess this will be a change of pace for me," Oracle said as she swirled her drink around again, "but fireteams have a codename they go by all the time don't they?" I shrugged my shoulders again. Rose put her hand on my shoulder. "I got an idea," she said,"how about pantheon?" I stroked my beard as the name got my interest. "Pantheon sounds cool, very strong," I said, "I like it, how about we toast to our formation?" Oracle and Rose smiled at my suggestion. "Yo, Barkeep," I said walking up to the bar, "three shots of vodka please." Barkeep nodded and poured the three shots. I carried the shots back to Oracle's table and set them down before raising one of them. "To the formation of fireteam Pantheon," I said. "Agreed," Rose said. "Let's get it done!" Oracle said, raising her glass. Our glasses clinked together as we downed the shots. Once the shots were consumed, we resumed our conversation. "So, what's the strike mission that we're gonna be doing?" Oracle asked. "I want to say it involves the Fallen, but we don't know the exact details until the vanguard summons us later this week for the mission briefing," I said, "so keep your comms open we may need you to show up at any time." Oracle nodded. "I'll keep my ears peeled for the message okay," she said as she stood up, "have a good night guys!" As Oracle walked off, we proceeded to head back to our place after saying goodnight to barkeep and having another shot (whiskey this time), we ventured back to our place before going to sleep for the night. Two days later, we were summoned by the vanguard. We hit up Oracle on the comms, telling her to meet us in the hall of the guardians for the strike mission briefing. "Hey guys," Oracle said, greeting us before saying hi to the vanguard. "Good," Zavala said, "you found a third guardian." We nodded before the three of us snapped a salute. "Fireteam Pantheon reporting in, sir," I said before he continued. "Pantheon, I like the name," Cayde said, adding his two cents which earned a look from me. "Alright fireteam Pantheon," zavala said, "this strike mission is a mission to eliminate a fallen high value target, a high servitor named sepiks prime." We nodded. "I guess you'll brief us more en route to our starting point for the strike, correct sir?" I asked. Zavala nodded. "Check your weapons and supplies before heading out," Zavala said, "good luck."
