Rise of the Reaper part 15: Moonsterious Mysteries
Reaper and Rose woke up bright and early the following morning. "Morning beautiful," Reaper said before kissing Rose on the cheek. Rose hummed a little before kissing Reaper back. "Morning babe," Rose said before stretching and standing up to head to the bathroom to wash up, "care to join my love?" Reaper smirked at that comment. "When do we not shower together?" He asked her as he stood up and followed Rose into the bathroom and turned on the shower. Twenty minutes (and a quick fuck later), Reaper and Rose stepped out of the shower and began to dry off. "Ah, Reaper and Rose, good timing," Rev said as he flew towards them, "the speaker has a mission for us on the moon's surface." Rose was surprised. "The speaker has a mission for us?" She asked her partner's ghost. Reaper grinned. "Well, it's about fucking time!" Reaper shouted, "We've had enough down time in-between missions." Reaper filled with excitement, but then asked Rose and his ghost, "Think we should let Oracle and Tulos know we got a mission?" Rose nodded as she got dressed and made sure her armor was secured properly. "Yeah, let them know so they can meet us on the moon's surface," Rose said as she checked her gun. Reaper cocked and loaded a magazine into his rifle after making sure his armor was secured. "I'm already on it guys," Rev said as he sent the message, "and…. message has been sent! Now what?" Reaper looked at his floating friend. "Well, now we head to the moon and find out what the speaker wants us to find, duh," Reaper said. Rev looked at him. "You know you're sounding more and more like a dumbass right Reaper?" Rev replied in a stoic tone. Reaper looked dumbfoundedly at his ghost. "I know that, ya idiot!" Shouted Reaper. Rose just sighed and smacked Reaper on the back of his helmet. "Will you and Rev please focus," she said, "we have a mission to do." Reaper nodded before focusing on the task at hand. "Let's get to our ships and meet Oracle and Tulos on the moon because like you said we have a mission to complete," Reaper said while turning the safety off on his rifle. A few hours and a jump later, the four had boots on the moon's surface. "Okay, so what does the speaker want us to Rev?" Reaper asked cautiously. Rev looked around before speaking. "According to the speaker, we're supposed to pick up a Guardian's trail if I'm understanding this correctly," Rev said, "but for now, let's proceed with caution." The four proceeded to move up to the buildings slowly and with caution. "This used to be an old particle accelerator, maybe it could still function," said Rev as they approached. Once Reaper deployed Rev to get the system back up and running, the four heard a familiar screech, which caused them to turn their heads in concern. "We've got Fallen incoming!" Rev said as the four took up defensive positions. "Let's take them out so we can proceed with this mission," Rose said as she shot the head off of a dreg. A lone servitor then floated its way into the room where the four were at only to be met by Reaper's arc-covered fist which caused it to dissipate. "That should take care of the ones in here, let's take care of the ones outside," Reaper said as he charged out to the outer platform near the entrance to the room where Rev was working on getting the accelerator online. Once the last member of their welcoming party was beaten, the four regrouped at the entrance to the room where Rev was. "Okay, I looked at the Guardian's notes and it mentioned a place called the "Temple of Crota" we should check there," Rev said, "it shouldn't be that far away; by the way, you can ride your sparrows now, we're linked." The four nodded as they hopped on their sparrows and zoomed towards the area Rev mentioned. As the four approached the temple, they saw a figure laying on the ground motionless. "Up ahead, guardian down," Rev said as they approached. The four looked at the body of the guardian's lifeless form. "It's devoid of light," Oracle said as she inspected the body. "Where's its ghost?" Noir added as the four ghosts looked up at the giant door adorned with three chains and in the middle of those chains sat a hive rune. Reaper turned his head because he thought they were being watched by someone or something, but when he looked there was nothing. "We all may want to take a few steps back," Rev said cautiously. Rose looked at her boyfriend's ghost. "Why is that Rev?" she asked. Rev looked at her. "Well the runes and chains are disappearing," Rev said as he disappeared into Reaper's helmet. As the four backed up and took defensive positions like at the particle accelerator, the chain and rune dissipated as the doors slowly opened and they heard a familiar cry. "We've woken the Hive," Anna said as thralls, acolytes, and a single knight came out of the entrance towards the four guardians. They were outnumbered ten to one, and as the fight progressed, they heard a familiar shriek belonging to a hive wizard. "There's a wizard here!" Rev called out to Reaper, "we have to kill it!" Reaper nodded as he took out another acolyte with a burst. "Guys! There's a wizard here that we have to kill, but I'm pretty sure you already know that," Reaper called out to the others as he pulled out his rocket launcher and charged inside the temple. The wizard sent an attack towards Reaper which he took since he was one of the tanks of the group with the other being Rose. Once Reaper locked on to the wizard, he fired a rocket which hit the wizard right in the face, destroying it in the process. "I think we're in the clear!" Reaper called out as they regrouped at the dead guardian's ghost. 'Well I say that's mission complete, wouldn't you say guys?' Reaper asks the others. Rose walks over to the pedestal that housed the dead guardian's ghost. "I wonder what they were looking for and how they planned on getting the information?" asked Rose who was intrigued. They all shrugged. "Regardless of however they got the information, the mission is done," Reaper said as he put his rifle on his back, "Let's get out of here." The four transmatted to their ships and flew back to the tower, glad that the mission was complete. Later on, at the speaker's observatory, the four stood before the speaker. "Job well done, guardians," the speaker said, "take this item to Banshee-44 to receive a unique item from him." He then hands each of them an item of unknown origin. "Let's head to Banshee and receive the item," Reaper said. They proceeded to Banshee's stall and yelled to get his attention. "Whatcha got Guardians?" he asked as we handed the item that the speaker gave us as he retrieved three guns: a shotgun, a fusion rifle, and a sniper rifle. "Take your pick guys," he said. Reaper, who got there first, picked up the shotgun. "Looks sturdy for its size to be completely honest," Reaper said, "what's the magazine size banshee?" Banshee-44 just shrugs. "Three, I guess," he says, "actually I think all of them have a magazine size of three." Reaper smiled at that. "I'll definitely take it, thanks Banshee," Reaper said as the others showed up, "hey guys, you have a choice between a shotgun, a fusion rifle, or a sniper rifle, only downside they all have three shots per magazine." Rose, being the markswoman she is, took the sniper rifle while Oracle and Tulos each took a fusion rifle. "Well guys that's what I call mission accomplished," Reaper said as he slung the shotgun over his shoulder. Rose and Oracle nodded in unison. "We couldn't agree more, babe," Rose said. "Yeah, I say we head to the bar to celebrate," Oracle added in excitement. Reaper and Rose nodded in agreement. As they walked to the bar, Oracle rested her head on Tulos' shoulder, sighing softly. "I have to say, this was huge, wasn't it honey?' she asked him. Tulos kissed Oracle softly on the head, humming to himself. 'I should tell them soon…' he thought as he walked with them to the bar to drink to their success
