A/N: And here, to conclude February's schedule, one of the 3 chapters for Adventure Time. First up, the next chapter, "The Chamber of Frozen Blades"! This time, it'll be a flashback episode of sorts.
Adventure Time with Finn, Jake, & Rachel
Chapter 15: The Chamber of Frozen Blades
"Maybe we should start a Big Belly Club together.", Rachel suggested.
"What?", Finn puzzled.
"Yeah. I mean, just look at us. All huge, large, and relaxed.", Rachel responded.
"Hey, you're the one who's so big, Rae-Rae.", Finn retorted.
"Yeah. You got me. But that doesn't make you any less relaxed like I am.", Rachel blushed with a bit of a grin.
"Oh. Yeah, I guess. That sounds like a good idea.", Finn said, earning the light blue blob's giggle.
"It IS a good idea, isn't it?", Rachel giggled.
Just then, they saw the sun rising up.
"Oh, wow. Sunrise already?", Rachel asked.
"We stayed up that late? Who knew?", Finn asked.
"Well, time to get ready for the day.", Rachel said.
Then, the Ice Princess reached for tiara, which glowed. In a quick moment, both Finn and Rachel poofed, revealed to be back to normal form with the latter back in her pajamas.
At that moment, as soon as Finn and Rachel left the cellar, they spotted Betty at the front door, knocking on it.
"Mom?", Rachel puzzled.
"Rae-Rae! This is your mother speaking! Can you come down for a moment?", Betty called as she knocked, not yet knowing that Finn and Rachel were already outside.
"Coming!", Rachel shouted as she flew toward Betty and practically pounced on the surprised Ice Queen, hugging her as both mother and daughter landed on the grass.
"Whoo!", Finn shouted as he caught up.
"Hey, Mom.", Rachel greeted.
"Whew...! You caught me by surprise there, Rae-Rae.", Betty said.
"Well, I didn't know you were coming here today.", Rachel said.
"Hey, Betty. What's up?", Finn asked.
"Oh. Hello, Finn. I just have some wonderful news to share with you, Rae-Rae.", Betty greeted.
"Really? What's that?", Rachel asked.
"Well...", Betty began before squealing.
"I'M PREGNANT!", Betty shouted happily, making both Finn and Rachel surprised as their mouths briefly hung open.
"I'm... babies?!", Rachel squeaked.
Later, the trio were inside the tree fort, sitting next to BMO as Jake went over to the fridge to prepare for breakfast. But as soon as he opened the fridge, his eyes widened.
"So, you're actually gonna have...?", Rachel began.
"A baby? Yes!", Betty responded.
"That's great, Betty!", Finn grinned.
"I can't believe you're pregnant…! So, tell me. When you're ready to give birth, are you going to look like… this, per chance?", Rachel asked as she once again used her tiara to morph back into her super-sized, blob-like state from earlier this morning as her pajamas vanished as if by magic with her long white hair covering her chest as it went down.
"Uh… Definitely not, I can say that much.", Betty replied.
"Huh. Still, I bet you'd make a really cool member for a club Finn and I founded sooner or later.", Rachel grinned.
At that moment, Jake peeped out.
"What kind of club?", Jake asked only to become surprised from seeing Rachel's current state.
"Whoa, Rae-Rae, how'd you get so big again?!", Jake reacted.
"Consider this a bit of a prize leftover from our run-in with the Magic Man.", Rachel smirked.
"Oh.", Jake responded.
"I'll bet the kids would love how soft I am like this.", Rachel grinned before her belly growled.
"Ooh…! I feel so hungry! Well, a growing girl's gotta eat. Especially when she needs to be in top shape afterwards, too.", Rachel said.
"Oh, yeah. Fridjitzu lessons.", Jake realized.
"Fridjitzu? What's that?", Betty asked.
"That's a long story. One that I can tell you. It all started one afternoon. A day after we dealt with the King Worm in our house. Back when Dad was still… kooky.", Rachel began.
7 MONTHS AGO
One day, Finn observed Ice King's Castle through his binoculars, moving the lenses up and down for a bit.
"Hour 6 of our Ice Kingdom stakeout. Abso-nothing's going on there.", Finn sighed, slumping down on an ice spike with the tip of it between his legs.
Meanwhile, Rachel, in her normal body size, not to mention in her dress, was teaching Jake one of the techniques.
"And if you do this hand position, your boogers should turn into smoke bombs. I don't recommend doing it too often, though.", Rachel said as she positioned her hand into said position.
"Oh.", Jake responded, doing said hand position.
"Pfff. You sure this tip is good, Flambo?", Finn asked.
Then, surrounded by logs like a campfire, the flame turned into a sort of small flame person with arms and legs, not to mention a tail.
"Come on, you know I'm on the level. The Ice King is scheming to nabs a princess today. I swears it.", Flambo said.
"Dad always does stuff like this...", Rachel sighed as Finn jumped off the ice spike, took off his backpack, pulled out his sweater, and then put it on.
"Relax, Restless Pants. A true ninja can sense the intentions of his enemies. Jin.", Jake assured as he shifted his ears into a symbol.
"Well said, Jake.", Rachel grinned.
But Flambo just laughed that off.
"Ninjas? Ninjas ain't real for nothing, no how.", Flambo belittled.
"Whoa, now—ninjas are real. For you see, Doo, doo, doo... Jake, Rae-Rae, and I are ninjas.", Finn said as he covered his mouth with his sweater.
"Yeah. And since I'm a veteran, I agreed to train them in the ways of Fridjitzu.", Rachel added.
"Oh, really? I'll believe that when I see it.", Flambo said.
"Oh, really. And you WILL believe it. Observe.", Rachel said, casting her hand signs.
"Fridjitzu Master Rachel summons... Stars of Frozen Rain!", Rachel shouted, creating said stars and then tossing them in the air.
"Ha!", Rachel grinned.
Flambo's eyes widened in amazement for a moment before he needed to play it cool.
"Yeah, okay. I guess that is cool.", Flambo said.
"Right?", Rachel asked.
"Finn, booty me!", Jake shouted.
Then, Finn threw the booties and Jake caught them on his feet. But not long after, the trio heard a "wenk".
"Listen!", Finn shouted.
"That sounded like Gunter.", Rachel said.
Then, both Finn and Rachel leapt away.
"Guys, I think I'm gonna take off my booties. I can't flip these pages.", Jake said, trying, and failing, to flip said pages.
Rachel flew over and hovered next to Finn, who looked out through his binoculars.
"Gunter, let's go! I've got the overnight bag.", Ice King urged giddily as he got out said overnight bag, put his blue sweatpants in the bag, zipped up the bag, picked Gunter up, and started flying away.
"Wenk, wenk!", Gunter groaned as Ice King flew off.
"It's the Ice King, all right, and he's looking awful pleased with himself.", Finn said to himself.
"Uh-oh. If the Ice King's so happy, he must have stolen a princess when we weren't looking, somehow. That's ninja logic.", Jake said, covering his mouth with his ears.
"Either that, or he's out doing it right now. Wouldn't hurt to look, at least. That, and Gunter did have something bothering him.", Rachel said.
"Then we gotta...", Finn began before Flambo interrupted.
"Ahem.", Flambo said, clearing his throat.
Then, Finn got out some charcoal, and gave it to Flambo, who ate it, making his flaming body burn brighter and hotter.
"...we gotta save that princess.", Finn said.
"You got it, shino-bro!", Jake said.
"Or, we could use this time to prepare an ambush if Dad is capturing a princess. With me teaching you guys more Ice ninja techniques maybe?", Rachel asked with a bit of a smirk.
"Whoa!", Jake gasped.
"That's even better!", Finn agreed.
"I thought you guys might say that. Now..., Ninja kick!", Rachel shouted, doing a ninja kick.
"Ninja kick!", Jake added, following her lead.
"Ninja kick!", Finn added, following after Jake and Rachel.
After jumping away, they all entered the Ice King's castle.
"Princess? Princess!", Finn called.
"Princess! You in there?!", Rachel called, looking around in the kitchen.
As for Jake, he sniffed the floor and raised an armchair with his arm like a jack.
"Princess?", Jake asked.
"Princess!", Finn called, looking in an empty jailcell.
"Princess? ...Ahh...", Jake said, looking in the toilet before the trio regrouped.
"No princess here, man.", Jake said.
"So, that can only mean that Dad is actually out doing it right now. Besides, traps aren't exactly his forte. So, we need to use this time to prepare. And what better way to do that than some good old-fashioned ninja training?", Rachel said, stepping toward the glass wall.
She then traced a symbol from the front cover of the Ice Ninja manual onto the glass wall, causing it to evaporate, revealing inside, much to Finn and Jake's shock and awe...
"A secret hidden room full of ninja stuff!", the duo gasped.
"And not just any secret hidden room full of ninja stuff. MY secret hidden room full of ninja stuff.", Rachel grinned.
"Whoa...", the duo said in awe.
Meanwhile, Ice King was laughing and flying to a Rock Hospital before entering the hospital to discover up ahead, something of great annoyance.
"Oh, great—a line.", Ice King groaned.
In no time at all, he started to freeze the people in front of him.
"Excuse me. Excuse me. Pardon me.", Ice King said, worrying a rock man up ahead of him.
"Uhh, I-I think you were actually ahead of me.", a rock man said, stepping away cautiously only to end up getting frozen, too.
"You know I was.", Ice King chuckled, approaching the Rock Nurse. "Counter maid, I demand medical attentions! Preferably those of a princessy type."
"And are you checking in as a patient or a cadaver?", the Rock Nurse asked.
"Hey! I'm as healthy as ten old men!", Ice King retorted.
But then, Gunter let out a complaining wenk, weakly, helping the Ice King realize what he meant before he put Gunter on the counter.
"Ah! Oh, oh, right! My penguin—he's very, very sick. So... what time does your shift end?", Ice King asked.
Back in Rachel's secret hidden room, she spoke to the duo.
"Okay, guys. Before we can proceed any further, you have to keep its existence until I decide otherwise. Do you promise?", Rachel asked.
"Yeah, Rae-Rae.", Finn responded.
"Yeah, we promise.", Jake added.
"Do you Royal promise?", Rachel asked.
"Yeah. We royal promise.", Finn and Jake said in unison.
"Okay, cool. Now, we can proceed.", Rachel said before the trio then walked down the stairs.
"Who knew you could build a cave inside of another cave?", Jake asked.
Then, Jake spotted a book.
"What's this? A spellbook?", Jake asked.
"Not just any spellbook. You know what this is?", Rachel asked, pointing to the book, which left the duo amazed.
"WHOA! Dude! It's a first-edition Ice Ninja Manual!", Finn shouted, making Jake gasp deeply.
"Yep. And it's my very first one. I picked it up sometime ago after Dad started going... well, you know. It came in handy at times when my own ice powers from my tiara weren't enough. Actually when I thought I lost my tiara at one point, but that's another story for another time. Point is, now, you can learn from this manual as I have.", Rachel said, turning the page to the Numbchucks technique.
"Whoa! I ain't even heard of this technique.", Jake said, starting to make a symbol with his hand.
"Nuh-nuh-n-numm-nuh numb-chucks.", Jake said, summoning Ice nunchucks on his hand.
"Hey. You seem way into ninjas, Rae-Rae. Even more than we are.", Finn said.
"Well, you travel around a broken world for a thousand years, you pick up a thing or two. Even Ninjutsu. So, at times when I don't use my ice powers from my tiara, I wear my ninja on my sleeves.", Rachel said.
"You kidding? We wear our ninja on our sleeves, too!", Jake shouted while spinning his numb-chuck only to inadvertently break the cabinet with it.
"Jake!", Finn exclaimed.
"Ah! Be careful with that, man...!", Rachel warned.
"Oops. Sorry, Rae-Rae.", Jake apologized.
"It's cool. You're lucky none of the stuff inside got wrecked. And doubly lucky that I can make a new one.", Rachel said before making a new cabinet.
Then, she opened up the lid and put her stuff inside the replacement cabinet.
"There.", Rachel grinned.
"Hey, Rae-Rae. Show me how to do that.", Finn said.
"In due time, Finn. For now, let's practice what we can use for the ambush.", Rachel said.
Meanwhile, Gunter and Ice King were waiting in a hospital ward.
"What's taking that doctor so long? Gunter, make more noise!", Ice King demanded nervously.
"WUAH! WUAH!", Gunter exclaimed.
"Yeah, alright, alright. Don't oversell it, drama queen.", Ice King commented.
Just then, a doctor named Doctor Princess entered the room.
"Dun, dun, dunnn. Pardon the intrusion. I'm Doctor Princess.", Doctor Princess entered.
"Yes, well, uh... Come to Ice King, Princess.", Ice King said quietly as Doctor Princess approached Gunter.
"Don't worry, sir. I specialize in treating little tuxedo people.", Doctor Princess assured.
"Just give it to me straight, doc. Am I gonna have to pay for this?", Ice King asked.
"Hmm...", Doctor Princess said, putting her stethoscope in Gunter's face.
"Wenk-wenk. Wenk-wenk. Wenk-wenk.", Gunter wenked like a heartbeat.
"Oh, my!", Doctor Princess said.
"What can you do for him, Doctor Princess? Without Gunter, I'll be all alone. You see, I'm a widower.", Ice King said, taking off his crown.
"Oh, I'm sorry. How did your wife die?", Doctor Princess said, not knowing yet that Gunter was beginning to inflate.
"Oh, what? Is that what that means?", Ice King asked, putting his crown back on before Gunter wenked in panic as his inflation continued.
"Whoa, Nelly! Something medical is happening!", Doctor Princess shouted in surprise.
"WEEEEEENK!", Gunter wenked, inflating even more.
"Gunter, you're embarrassing me!", Ice King shouted.
Meanwhile, Finn and Jake were practicing ninja techniques with Rachel.
"Fridjitzu Master Finn summons... Dagger of Chilled Glass.", Finn said as he did his hand positions and summoned said weapon.
"Awesome, Finn. Okay, Jake. Your turn.", Rachel said, turning to Jake.
"Fridjitzu Master Jake summons... Stars of Frozen Rain.", Jake said as he did his own hand positions and summoned said weapon.
"Cool! I guess I'm up. Fridjitzu Master Rae-Rae summons... the Blade of Crystalized Dimensions!", Rachel shouted, drawing said weapon, earning a look from Finn and Jake.
"What? I already made this when i first met you two. Anyway, how about a little change of scenery?", Rachel said, making her own hand positions and then making a big snowball.
"Snow blind!", Rachel shouted tossing it in-between herself, Finn, and Jake, enveloping them all in snow.
When it went away, the three were now outside the castle.
"There. Now we can go as wild as we want out here and nothing inside will be broken.", Rachel grinned.
"Oh. Well, in that case..., Get ready to be... star struck!", Jake shouted, throwing the stars at Finn, who dodged them as they instead, as soon as they missed, hit the ice wall.
"Get ready to be... cold cut!", Finn said, drawing his dagger.
With that, a spar between three broke out. Finn tried to attack Jake, but the dog jumped up, causing Finn to miss not once, but twice as he tried to hit Jake, allowing the dog to break Finn's dagger with a kick.
"Hey! Why don't you try mine?", Rachel goaded.
"Hyah!", Jake shouted before kicking at Rachel's sword, only it didn't shatter at all.
"What the...?", Jake puzzled before Rachel swung and knocked Jake away like he was a baseball.
Finn then got out two kunai and threw them.
"Kunai attack!", Finn shouted.
But Rachel got into a sort of sacred sword stance with a deep breath and opened her eyes before... SLASH! the two kunai tossed at Rachel split into perfect halves. What's more, they were headed toward Jake.
"Icicle kick!", Jake shouted, kicking the 4 kunai toward Finn and Rachel.
Rachel turned to Finn and both nodded before making similar hand positions.
"Force of Blizzard!", Finn and Rachel shouted in unison as they counterattacked with snow.
"Flying jump!", Jake shouted, evading the snow with a jump.
When Jake landed, however, he brought up three clones of himself.
"What?! Three Jakes? That's one too many. Caltrop hailstorm!", Finn shouted as he then summoned ice stars and threw them toward the Jakes, which all disappeared.
"Those Jakes were all fakes!", Finn exclaimed.
"Yeah, that's the tricky thing about frosty afterimages. You can never tell which one's real or not.", Rachel stated.
Just then, Jake chuckled behind Finn and Rachel.
"Heh! Fridjitzu Master Jake summons... arrow of ice!", Jake shouted as he summoned the arrow, used his arm as a bow, and fired it at Finn.
But Finn caught the arrow and then tossed it to the snowy ground.
"Hiyah! Rad.", Finn grinned.
"You think this is rad? Wait until you see this!", Rachel smirked before then entering a different stance, holding her sword.
She instinctively held out and pointed her sword at the two right before... POOF! She vanished. Not long after, Finn and Jake were seemingly surrounded by a dome of gale.
"What?", Finn puzzled.
Suddenly, a slash hit Finn, causing the cut to be encased in ice, somewhat, shocking him as he yelled out.
"Finn!", Jake shouted before he, too, got cut.
"Ouch!", Jake shouted.
It was only a matter of time before more and more cuts appeared.
"Oh, man, oh man, oh, man, oh, man, oh, man...!", Jake spoke in worry.
Fortunately, the slashes and the wind stopped when the two were just frozen in place and Rachel reappeared again.
"How's that?", Rachel asked.
Frozen as he and Finn are, Jake's eyes glowed and sparkled.
"Ahh...", Jake gasped.
"Whoa! What move was that?!", Finn exclaimed.
"Oh, this one? This is a little signature move I like to call, 'the Flash Freeze'.", Rachel responded.
"Flash freeze?", Finn puzzled.
"Oh, I get it. Because you disappeared in a flash, and then we wound up frozen!", Jake realized.
"Yep. You got it.", Rachel grinned.
But all of a sudden, they heard whistling from outside.
"It's the Ice King! Hide!", Finn whispered.
"It's Dad! Hide!", Rachel whispered at the same time.
So, the trio hid in a snow bank where Ice King wouldn't see them on the way inside, and peeped over as Ice King hummed.
"Okay, m'dear, this enclosure will be your new home!", Ice King said.
"Looks like your guesswork is on the mark, Rae-Rae. He's got a princess. Now we leap out and catch him red-handed.", Finn whispered.
"No, not yet. Let me confirm that he has the princess first. If he has said princess, then you have my full permission to strike. But not too hard. Just to knock some sense into him.", Rachel whispered.
He and Jake nodded with grunts and covered their mouths.
"Hai!", Jake shouted.
"Good.", Rachel whispered before flying off with her hair into the Ice Kingdom.
"Snow blind!", Finn said before using a snowball-like smoke bomb to disappear in a flurry of snow.
"Thin ice, thin ice, thin ice!", Jake whispered as he turned 2D and disappeared.
"...but once you get used to the smell of penguin manure, it's almost tolerable.", Ice King said.
Then, Rachel spoke up.
"Hey, Dad.", Rachel spoke up, catching Ice King by surprise.
"AAAH! Wha...?! Oh..., It's you, Rae-Rae...", Ice King sighed.
"So, who were you talking to? And how was, uh... the hospital?", Rachel asked.
"Oh, yeah. About Gunter's ailment. It turns Gunter here was preggers!", Ice King said as Gunter showed his egg.
"Huh?!", Rachel exclaimed in surprise.
"Wenk.", Gunter said.
"I was just talking to the egg! It's such a cutie!", Ice King said.
"Wait, Gunter's a woman?", Rachel asked in slight surprise.
"What? No!", Ice King said before checking under Gunter and then setting him down.
"Anyway, it's been a somewhat tiring day. I want to take a nap in my easy chair.", Ice King said.
"Hold it, Dad.", Rachel said, making him nervous.
"If what you said was true, then... why did you need this overnight bag for?", Rachel asked.
Ice King was really starting to break out in a cold sweat.
"Uh..., would you believe... it has gym equipment?", Ice King asked.
But Rachel was clearly not buying it.
"But you never bring that stuff with you outside our castle. Unless...", Rachel said before the bag suddenly gave out muffled noises, earning Rachel's gasping and groaning.
"All right, guys! The jig's up!", Rachel called.
"What?!", Ice King exclaimed.
Suddenly, Finn and Jake jumped through the air, wielding ice ninja weapons.
"Ice King, hand over that princess!", Finn shouted before he and Jake landed near him.
"Princess? What princess?", Ice King asked.
"The one you just came back from stealin'.", Jake said with a glare.
"And if I'm right, the princess you just stuffed in your overnight bag.", Rachel glared before opening the bag.
When she did, out popped Doctor Princess.
"Doctor Princess!", Finn said.
"Oh, heh... I have no idea how that got in there!", Ice King said nervously.
"Stuff it, Dad! I cannot deal with this right now!", Rachel shouted before growling with a groan and a sigh.
"What's goin' on?", Finn asked.
"I'll field that one. The Ice King abducted me while I was distracted by the horrifying beauty of birth.", Doctor Princess said, cleaning her lenses.
Gunter was rubbing the egg on his face.
"Yes, Gunter's ailment was the perfect cover for stealing a princess, M.D.", Ice King explained.
"Doctor Princess, I am so sorry he kidnapped you...! He means well for me, but sometimes, he does things the wrong way...", Rachel groaned.
"I'm not even a real princess. 'Princess' is just a surname.", Doctor Princess said as Jake helped her out of the bag.
"Wait. It is? Huh.", Rachel said.
"Enough! You may have uncovered my princess-smuggling scheme, but you'll never leave this place alive!", Ice King threatened as he hit his palm with his fist.
"Really, Dad? That's how you wanna play this?", Rachel asked.
"Haha! A few ninjas like me, Rae-Rae, and Finn can only be defeated by another ninja!", Jake shouted.
The Ice King then wrapped his beard around his head.
"Doot, doo, doooo! Ninja!", Ice King shouted as he summoned an ice sansetsukon.
"Ninja!", Finn, Jake, and Rachel shouted as they covered their mouths and brandished their respective ice weapons.
"What am I... looking at here, exactly?", Doctor Princess asked.
"Yeah, things tend to be complicated with my dad involved.", Rachel responded before she leapt into battle with Finn and Jake against Ice King.
"NINJA!", the 4 shouted, clashing their ice weapons to start the fight.
"So... how is your egg doing?", Doctor Princess asked to Gunter.
"Wenk, wenk.", Gunter replied as he got onto the egg, which started to crack.
"Oh.", Doctor Princess said in surprise.
"Wenk, wenk.", Gunter squawked before the egg cracked completely, revealing a pink, floating kitten with a red heart on its forehead, surprising everyone.
"Huh?! That's Gunter's baby?!", Rachel asked in genuine surprise.
"Gunter! Why didn't you tell me?", Ice King said in surprise.
"Weh-weh-wenk.", Gunter shrugged in an "I don't know" tone while Ice King descended to the ground.
"Oh, Gunter...", Ice King began.
But suddenly, Finn and Jake kicked Ice King in both the face and back, respectively.
It flashed to the present upon impact with Betty shouting.
"WHAT?! You mean that Gunter gave birth to a pink kitten?!", Betty asked in surprise.
"I know, right?!", Rachel asked before she ate from her plate.
"Whoa. I guess that explains the pink kitten being with Gunter.", Betty said just before Rachel, along with Finn and Jake, have finished eating.
"Yeah. The point is, he was still punished for kidnapping someone, but I went easier on him as Doctor Princess wasn't even a real princess, apparently.", Rachel responded.
"Oh. Well, it's a good thing that mess is behind us.", Betty said.
"Yeah. Well, now that I've finished up, it's time I get into shape.", Rachel said, reaching for her tiara and morphing back to normal again, but this time, in her daily clothes.
"So, where do you guys wanna go for today?", Rachel asked.
"Well, we could try the beach.", Finn suggested.
"Great idea, Finn.", Rachel grinned.
"Yeah. And maybe we could even find some hidden treasures from icebergs while we're there. With enough of that stuff, we could even make a gauntlet dock!", Jake said, making Finn excited.
"Gauntlet dock...?!", Finn gasped.
"Gauntlet dock?", Rachel and Betty asked.
"I'll explain on the way. Come on, Finn!", Jake urged before he rushed downstairs.
"You got it, Jake!', Finn shouted as he ran after him.
"Well, when in Ooo...", Betty said as she shrugged.
"Wait up, guys! We're coming, too!", Rachel shouted as she picked BMO up and ran after Finn and Jake with Betty following after her as well.
A/N: And that concludes this chapter. That just leaves two more for the month. :)
