Ronan pov
Ronan kept running for what felt like days on the hot scorching deserts of Jakku since the brutal village massacre. He felt their agonizing screams through the force as they kept replaying in his head like a projector. Although Poe told him to run, he felt like a coward. Finally both him and the bbunit droid came to a stop as the young skywalker heir slowly sank down to his knees, his hands covering his mouth as if getting ready to throw up.
"It's all my fault," He thought as his body to begin to physically shake.
"I..I should've done something..."
He then slammed his fist into the sandy ground in anger.
"DAmn it! Damn it all!" He yelled, as he repeatedly slammed his fist onto the ground unto his knuckles started to bleed due to the stinging hot sand.
"I swear...I swear..."
His vision began to become blurry as tears started falling from his cheeks, causing him to let out a sob. BB-8 unit beeped sadly as he turned around and rolled away, more likely to go look for help.
"I can't be strong like dad...Im sorry dad..." He sobbed, not paying attention to BB 8 leaving his sight.
As he looked down crying, he didnt hear a pair of footsteps approach him from behind until he felt a soft hand land on his shoulder, causing him to tense up.
"Are you okay," A voice asked with concern, making him look up to see a girl with fair skin, hazel eyes and brown hair tied in nearly three buns due to Ronan glancing over to see what the behind of her hair looks like. She also wore light brown tannish colored clothes and carried large dark quarterstaff.
"I'm fine...really," He said adjusting himself while wiping his tears away.
His grief was then turned to panic when he noticed that the bb unit droid isnt around anymore, causing him to immidiately shoot up from where he sat.
"Oh kriff!" Ronan yelled, as he looked around for the spherical droid.
"Where did he go?!"
The girl was about to ask who is he looking for when suddenly they were cut off by BB-8's hysterical screeching that echoed throughout the desert.
"I think we found him," Ronan said as both him and the girl run toward the source til they found the spherical droid caught in a net with a small reptilian figure looming over him, with his large beast thats is a mixture of both living flesh and metal.
Ronan was about to charge toward the gremlin, ready to rescue his droid comrade from its vile clutches when suddenly the girl yelled at the gremlin in a language he didnt understand. This caused the gremlin to back away while hissing at her in his own language while Ronan ran over to the trapped bb unit, taking out his pocket knife and cutting the net. When BB8 was finally set free from the net, the girl immediately appeared beside him adjusting the bended antenna on the droid's head. Ronan watched with fascination and curiosity as the girl adjusted the antenna til it was in a upright position again.
"How do you know," Ronan asked, curiously.
"I've been on my own since I was young," The girl answered as she finished fixing the antenna on BB-8's head.
"How young?" Ronan asked, raising his eyebrow.
"Very young...I lost count for how long I've been here," The girl answered once more.
Ronan felt pity for the girl but became thankful for her aid in rescuing the spherical droid.
"What's your name," The girl asked, curiously.
"Ronan," Ronan answered as a small tint of blush appeared on his light brown skin cheeks.
"Just Ronan..."
"I'm Rey," The girl replied smiling kindly at him as BB 8 began circling around them as if laughing hysterically at them.
"No i did not cry!" Ronan yelled as his face turned a bright red.
"I..had something in my eye,"
Rey laughed warmly, causing Ronan to look down while rubbing his eye as a demonstration.
"I won't judge you," Rey said, sincerely.
"After all everyone cries,"
Rey then looked over at the horizon, noticing that the sun is about to go down. Ronan followed her gaze to the binary sunset as he let out a silent but sad sigh. As a child, both him and his sister would look at the beautiful sunset with their father and their cousin. He missed seeing their warm smiles implanted on their faces, mainly his sister whose smile always brightens everyone's days including his own.
"Ronan...you alright?" Rey asked, snapping him out his thoughts.
"Um...yeah I'm fine," Ronan lied, brushing the invisible dust of his clothes.
"Are you sure because you've been staring off into space for some reason," Rey said, growing slightly suspicious.
"I'm sure," Ronan assured her, before he turned to BB-8 who stopped in front of him.
"Thank you for the help but we should get going,"
He and the spherical droid were about to leave but Rey stops them.
"Wait...you should stay the night.." Rey suggested.
"No..I dont want to be a bother," Ronan replied, before BB-8 zapped him on the leg causing him to jump.
"Ouch! What the hell?!"
Bb-8 beeped hysterically causing Ronan to growl at him and Rey to laugh at them, before adjusting himself once more.
"Alright, I guess we can stay," Ronan said, blushing once more.
"Lead the way Rey,"
Both Ronan and BB-8 followed the scavanger girl through the deserts towards her hideout while the young skywalker heir sent a silent prayer to the stars that his father and sister are safe.
