I DON'T OWN ANYTHING

I didn't fell asleep quickly, thanks for the more than enough rest that I got in the afternoon. I heard some voices of maids and servants, 'what is going on?' I got up from the bed and went towards the door. I opened it slightly and saw that they were arranging things. It looked like they were preparing for some event.

" It was unexpected, right ?" one of the maids said, they were cleaning the vase and floor respectively, " yes, I thought that the butler told us that he will come tomorrow " " the work finished early " " really!? I thought it would take a day or two but..." " don't forget that he is the master of south, you are new so you may not know this but this isn't first time, if it came to miss touko, he will come back in few hours even from north".

This caught my attention more than anything, " huh? why? is miss not feeling well?" " oh, no it is-" "you two, is the work here done?" the voice seemed to be of the butler, " ye- yes, it is about to-" " now don't do anything, master is back and about to enter, so go back to the entrance " he ordered them, they nodded and went towards the entrance.

'Touko...' I looked at my hand, she sealed my real identity as half mage, she took the risk to keep me safe. 'Still I don't know a thing about her past' . I went back to my bed and laid my back on the soft mattress.

It was around quarter to eight in the morning when someone knocked my door, at first I thought it was a maid or servant so I gave them permission to come in, but instead of any of them, touko came in, " oh, uh,...touko, sorry I thought..." " it is okay, I came to wake you up, dad wants to meet you" she said with a smile, "follow me" she said " but I have yet to brush my teeth and-" " oh, okay, there is still little time for the breakfast, so please get quickly ready " .

I finished everything quickly and went towards the dining room. The hallways here are very long and big. On my way I saw the portrait of touko's mom, yesterday touya had showed us this but didn't said much about her. In dining room, everybody except master white was present.

Touya didn't looked at me, he just stared at his empty plate. After few minutes the doors opened and a man entered, he seemed to be taller than touya, his hair style was similar to touya but the color was dark brown, small blue eyes, " good morning dad" touya and touko got up and bowed slightly to show respect, he didn't said anything and just nodded.

" So, are you all are friends with my daughter, or so I heard " his voice was heavy, low pitch. " Yes" I said, " so, who cast the conceal magic on you" I shot him a shocked glance, the maids serving food didn't stopped, her father didn't even looked at us. There was a long pause, even touko and touya were shocked.

"You didn't said anything " he looked up from his plate, one eyebrow raised, " dad-" touya was about to say something but his father stopped him, " I asked him". " It's because... I...my -" " it was me" touko said, " it is because of me" she looked at him, " I wanted to save him!" " from what?" he asked, " I am a half mage " I finally confessed, he looked at me, "oh..." he didn't said anything for a minute "you were also friends with that girl, right ? The one who got influenced by dark magic?" "yes..." I trailed off, he looked at me, " you will meet me in my study room" he checked his watch and continued, " at three o'clock " "yes..." touko was stunned and touya had a blank expression. No body dared to say anything and we continued to finish our breakfast.

I went there as instructed, his study room was as big as others but there were less paintings and statues than others, there were books and tomes, they looked old , there were even gem stones of various colors. In the center was a big wooden table, in front of it were one chair , he was sitting behind it on the chair, reading a book, " you came" he looked at me, " sit" I followed the instructions.

From looking at the table this close I can see circular patterns on it, there was some things written on it in ancient language. He showed me the book he was reading by turning it to me, " this is the history of unova's mages, it is in modern language so you can understand it", I looked at it, the name of the chapter was given in the header.

Half mage

A child of a mage and a non mage is called 'half mage'. The mana circulation in them is more abnormal than others. Any event that psychological triggers them will bring calamity to entire unova or in worst case, entire world...

" This is something that touya told me " I mumbled but he heard, " read the next paragraph ".

... People who are half mages are executed because they are considered as cursed children. And if another mage or non mage tries to help them, they too will be executed.

I looked at him slowly, his gaze never leaving me. For a moment I thought he is glaring at me. He sighed and joined his fingers and put it in front of his face, covering his mouth, "do you realize it now, that what you are going to put touko into, she is already suffering through a lot" " what am I putting her into ?" I asked, " what happened to her ? why did her mother cursed her?"

His eyes widened, " huh!? how do you know about her mother ?" " she once mumbled it... once " 'what is about to say?' he didn't said anything and tried to calm himself, " you can leave now" he said and without any word I left.
