Chapter Fourteen: Crimson Dawn Part Three
Skies of Tetsu no Kuni
High above Tetsu no Kuni, a chilling presence emerged as a dark silhouette, backlit by the sun's harsh glow. Retsu Fuyuzora, the enigmatic leader of Yukigakure, floated effortlessly above the battlefield, her chakra-imbued armor shimmering with an ethereal blue glow that mirrored the snow-covered peaks of her homeland. A low hum of power emanated from her, rippling outward in waves that bent the air with its cold intensity. At her side, her most elite warriors, cloaked in white and silver armor, moved silently, each one a silent testament to the unforgiving strength of the Hidden Snow Village. Retsu surveyed the chaos below, her piercing blue eyes coldly assessing the enemy forces that clashed in disarray, unaware of the storm about to befall them. She raised one elegant, gloved hand, channeling her chakra with practiced precision. Her lips curled into a calm yet dangerous smile as she spoke with icy authority that carried through the air, "Hyōton: Tōketsu Eikyū (Ice Release: Frozen Eternity)" A sudden wave of intense cold surged from her fingertips, and within seconds, the sky began to crystallize as snow and frost gathered, coating the battlefield below in a deadly sheet of glimmering ice. Enemy shinobi, caught mid-action, found themselves abruptly halted as frost crawled up their limbs, seizing them in a relentless freeze. Some tried to channel their chakra to break free, but the cold leeched away at their reserves, leaving them paralyzed and helpless as Retsu's ice slowly consumed them.
The shinobi below looked up, a mix of awe and dread clouding their eyes as they recognized Retsu's power. She was more than just a Kage of a minor village. Retsu Fuyuzora was a force of nature, wielding the rare Ice Release with an unparalleled mastery that made her one of the most formidable leaders among the hidden villages. Her goal was simple but audacious—to elevate the Snow Village, Yukigakure, to the same level of respect and power as the Five Great Nations. Retsu's ambitions were driven by a ruthless pragmatism and an undeniable charisma, a mixture that made her a leader the other nations couldn't ignore. She had made Yukigakure a powerhouse of technological advancements, integrating chakra armor and weaponry to fortify her forces in ways other villages had never dared. With her warriors by her side, each clad in chakra armor that gleamed like frost in the sunlight, she brought her plans to life on the battlefield, proving that her ambitions were more than mere dreams. From her position above, Retsu's gaze turned sharper as she sensed resistance below—pockets of chakra flaring, attempting to counter her freezing grip. She chuckled softly, acknowledging the bravery but deeming it futile. With a final, sweeping motion, she extended her hand forward, sending a wave of icy chakra through the air to reinforce the frozen battlefield. "This is Yukigakure's strength. Remember it well," she declared, her voice ringing out with chilling clarity. As the ice crept further, the shinobi on the ground realized the depths of Retsu's power and resolve. She was not here to make a simple statement—she was here to reshape the balance of power itself.
Tetsu no Kuni - Village Limits
Shisui's chakra system was in complete disarray, he laid on the ground barely able to move. A short distance away the Genjutsu Mistress of Konohagakure laid bare in a pool of her own blood, without help she'd either bleed out or drown in a pool of her own blood both sad. Might Gai stood motionless, his pupils were empty, void of all light of the three of them he'd die with honor. But what was honor to a shinobi, Shisui coughed once using what energy he could to turn towards the fleeing forms of their attacks. They single handedly took out three Konoha elites before they even knew what happened, but it seemed as if they wouldn't die today. The last thing he saw was the gravity defying silver hair of Kakashi before everything went dark.
Iwagakure - Village Center
Amid an ashen field, Hiruzen Sarutobi, the God of Shinobi, stood with a silent, immovable gaze, his armor darkened by soot and shadow. The aftermath of their brutal clash lay etched into the earth—a land once vibrant, now covered in a layer of ash as if paying homage to the fallen and the smoldering ruins of hope. Towering pillars of shadow rose around him, their forms wavering like spectral remnants of the past, piercing the dimming sky with their haunting presence. Each column whispered of the countless battles fought, of sacrifice and strength bound by unspoken honor. At Hiruzen's feet lay the battered form of Onoki's son, his face etched with a mixture of defiance and defeat, his strength a testimony to Iwagakure's iron will. A quiet heaviness lingered as Hiruzen glanced down, eyes softened with a rare hint of sorrow before hardening again—a fleeting sentiment that vanished as quickly as it appeared. With a final nod to the shadows, he disappeared into the mist, his silhouette fading from sight, leaving only the hollow echo of battle and the silent pillars stretching toward the heavens.
Tetsu no Kuni - Arena Battlefield - Naruto vs Sandra
Naruto leapt through the smoke-filled air, kunai in hand, his eyes blazing with the eerie red of the Kyubi's chakra. Across from him, Sandra's malicious grin hadn't faded; she parried his strike with an effortless grace, then lashed out with a sweep of her leg that forced Naruto back. He barely managed to land on his feet, his breaths coming out in quick, angry bursts as his chakra flared brighter, a telltale sign that the Nine-Tails' influence was growing. "Come on, Naruto," Sandra taunted, her voice echoing through the clearing as she twirled a kunai, unfazed by his power. "This is supposed to be the strength of the Leaf's Jinchūriki?" With a roar, Naruto's chakra claws surged from his fingertips, and he lunged forward again. Sandra matched his speed, ducking under his swipe and slashing with her kunai in a quick, precise movement that tore across his arm, drawing blood. Naruto winced but didn't falter. Instead, he launched into a series of relentless strikes, fists crackling with the Kyubi's chakra as he tried to land a hit on the agile rogue.
Sandra was a blur, dodging and weaving around his strikes, countering with stabs and slashes of her own. Naruto found himself struggling to keep up, each of her movements a step ahead, each strike cutting just close enough to remind him of her lethality. She laughed, the sound cold and taunting, and in a swift motion, drove her kunai towards his heart. But Naruto twisted, letting the kunai graze his side as he grabbed her wrist, forcing her down. With a primal yell, he charged up a Rasengan, aiming it toward her chest as his chakra pulsed violently. But Sandra, grinning, released a pulse of her own chakra in a counter-burst, breaking Naruto's grip and sending him flying backward. "Is that all?" she mocked, shaking her head with an exasperated sigh. "I expected more from you, Jinchūriki." Naruto rose from the ground, clutching his side, the dark, smoky chakra of the Nine-Tails radiating from him in waves. His vision blurred as he focused on Sandra, his rage intensifying with each word she uttered. He sprinted toward her, forming a Rasengan in one hand, his free hand clawing forward with the Kyubi's chakra. But just as he was closing in, Sandra's eyes glinted, and she vanished, reappearing behind him with a deadly smile. "Too slow!" she whispered before delivering a powerful kick to his back, sending him sprawling.
Naruto struggled to rise, his body aching, and his breaths ragged. Sandra walked toward him, her steps casual as if she had already won. "This is what the Leaf is sending against me? A boy with a demon he can't even control?" She raised her hand, chakra gathering as she prepared to end the fight. But a dark figure appeared between them in a flash, deflecting Sandra's kunai with a resounding clash of metal. Sandra's eyes widened as she found herself face-to-face with Sasuke, his Sharingan activated and his face locked in an intense scowl.
Sasuke's palm blazed to life condensing and compressing into a focused flame as he talked out the name of his jutsu "(Katon: Homura no Tenohira) Fire Release: Blazing Palm" Sasuke lunged fire blazing, Sandra looked out about to move into action to dodge until she felt her entire body freeze up. Haku crouched with a palm against Sandra's back, the silent killing helped him get close enough. Naruto thrust his demonic Spiraling Sphere forward as Sasuke brought his Blazing Palm crashing down. Their combined attack struck Sandra's face with unrelenting force, the destructive energies spiraling together in a fusion of chakra, flame, and fury. There was a sickening crunch as their attack tore through her defenses and shattered her jaw, the raw power obliterating her smug grin. Sandra staggered back, her hands flying to her face as she collapsed, her mouth bloodied and her eyes wide with pain and fear. She tried to speak, but only a garbled, unintelligible sound escaped as Naruto and Sasuke stood over her, the combined power of their demon-laced jutsu lingering in the air.
Arena Battlefield - Kimko vs Kira
Kimko's unwavering stance radiated intensity as she locked her gaze onto Kira, her katana gleaming with deadly precision. Kira, still perched on the railing, cracked her knuckles, her cold blue eyes calculating each movement with deadly intent. The wind stirred around them, and a tense silence settled as both combatants assessed the other's skill, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
Without warning, Kimko shot forward again, moving with a speed that defied human capability. Her katana arced in a graceful yet lethal strike, aimed directly at Kira's midsection. Kira barely managed to evade, twisting her body and launching herself backward as Kimko's blade sliced through the air, leaving a trail of steel-cold intent. She felt the rush of wind from Kimko's strike brush against her face, a grim reminder of just how close it had been. "Not bad," Kira muttered, brushing off her narrow escape. She landed with a predatory smirk, hands flashing through seals in rapid succession. "But let's see how you handle this." "Suiton: Suijinchū! (Water Release: Water Encampment Wall!)" she called, slamming her hands to the ground. An enormous wall of water surged up in front of her, encasing her figure and forming a shimmering, liquid shield. Kimko didn't hesitate, darting around the wall, her blade flashing as she sliced through the water with precise, controlled movements. With each strike, she pushed Kira further back, forcing her to weave and dodge, her water shield splintering under Kimko's relentless assault.
Seeing her defensive technique crumble, Kira abandoned it, leaping backward and summoning another rush of water with a swift hand seal. "Suiton: Suiryūdan no Jutsu! (Water Release: Water Dragon Jutsu!)" Three water dragons coiled and roared around her, snapping their jaws as they lunged toward Kimko from multiple angles, jaws wide open and shimmering with raw chakra. Kimko's expression didn't falter as she dodged the first dragon, twisting to parry the second's head with her katana, water spraying in a mist around her. She landed low and focused, cutting through the remaining dragon with a single, focused strike that split the watery beast in two, sending droplets cascading in every direction. The third dragon came from behind, and Kimko barely had time to react. She flipped into the air, narrowly escaping the creature's jaws, and landed gracefully, poised and ready for the next assault. But Kira wasn't finished. With a determined smirk, she planted her feet and extended her arm, summoning a swirling vortex of water that twisted around her like a cyclone. "Let's see if your blade can cut through this," she taunted, intensifying the vortex until it was a whirling barrier of water and chakra. Kimko grinned, her gaze sharpening with anticipation. She steadied her breathing, channeling chakra into her blade. Her stance shifted, her movements growing calmer, more focused. In a swift, single movement, she drew her blade back and then unleashed a powerful forward slash. "Ryūjin's Strike!"
The air crackled with energy as her katana sliced through the vortex with a force that defied reason, cleaving the swirling water in two and sending a shockwave rippling through the arena. The water dissipated into a fine mist, and Kira staggered back, wide-eyed, realizing just how formidable her opponent truly was. Kira quickly regained her footing, her expression shifting to one of determination rather than amusement. She flicked her wrists, drawing moisture from the air to form a dozen water kunai, which she launched at Kimko in rapid succession. Kimko weaved through the kunai, deflecting some with her katana and evading others with nimble footwork. The two women were now locked in a deadly dance of close combat, Kira's water jutsu keeping her just out of reach of Kimko's blade, while Kimko's relentless strikes forced Kira to constantly adapt her techniques. Kimko closed the distance with blinding speed, her blade coming down in a powerful arc. Kira formed a barrier of water in front of her, but the force of Kimko's strike shattered it instantly, and the sheer impact sent Kira tumbling back. She grimaced as she regained her footing, breathing heavily, beads of sweat mixing with the water on her skin. "Enough playing around," Kira muttered, her eyes narrowing. She clasped her hands together, gathering an immense amount of chakra. The ground began to tremble as she initiated her final technique. "Kinzoku no Shōheki! (Metal Fortress Technique!)"
Chunks of metal emerged from beneath the arena floor, forming a massive, armored construct that encased Kira in a protective shell. Inside the fortress, Kira smirked, feeling invincible within her metallic barrier. The construct moved with a life of its own, towering over Kimko and lumbering toward her with earth-shaking steps. Kimko's face hardened, but there was no fear in her eyes—only resolute determination. She raised her blade, channeling her chakra until her sword pulsed with energy. As the metal fortress lumbered toward her, Kimko sprinted forward, evading the massive metal limbs as they crashed down around her. She scaled the side of the construct, climbing with the agility of a ninja trained for battle. Kira's eyes widened in surprise as she realized Kimko was closing in, her blade glowing with raw chakra. Kimko reached the top of the fortress and drove her katana down in a powerful thrust. The blade pierced the metal, sending cracks spiraling through the construct as it began to collapse under its own weight. Kimko leaped back as the metallic structure crumbled, leaving Kira exposed and vulnerable.
Just as Kimko prepared to strike the final blow, a sharp, urgent whistle cut through the thick, smoky air—a signal she recognized instantly as the call to retreat. Kira's face twisted with frustration as she caught the sound. Her attention flicked momentarily to the horizon, where a surge of sinister, demonic chakra had just erupted, signaling the unmistakable defeat of her ally, Sandra, at the hands of Naruto and Sasuke. That cursed, volatile chakra enveloped the battlefield, sending tremors through the ground and announcing Sandra's downfall with terrifying clarity. Kira's expression hardened, and she locked eyes with Kimko one last time, her smirk replaced with a grim, silent promise. "This isn't over, swordswoman," she muttered, barely audible. Her hands flashed through a series of quick seals, and a dense mist began to rise, obscuring her form. "Suiton: Kirigakure no Jutsu! (Water Release: Hiding in Mist Technique)," Kira whispered, her figure dissolving into the swirling fog. Kimko steadied herself, watching as the mist thickened, swallowing Kira's presence entirely. She remained still, katana at the ready, sensing for any trace of movement, but there was none. Within moments, the forest had fallen silent, and Kira was gone. Kimko lowered her blade, her keen gaze surveying the battlefield one last time.
A few weeks later - Aftermath - Fire Capital
It was finally over. From the greatest Chunin exam stage to one of the most significant attacks on the Shinobi World since the Great Wars, Tetsu no Kuni lay in ruins, with pillars of smoke creating a gray sky. Iwagakure lost something that day: a long-reigning Kage and a part of their infrastructure during an unexpected counterattack from Konohagakure. It became known as the Crimson Dawn, a catastrophic convergence of each village's greatest mistakes, turning the entire world upside down. Aid was quickly sent from Konohagakure and Yukigakure to assist in the reconstruction of the samurai village. However, the attack on Konoha didn't help ease the growing tensions. Sanctions were imposed on both villages, measures that could nearly drive them into economic collapse. Jiro, the Iron Titan, was appointed as the next Tsuchikage—a choice many foreign ninja did not favor. A funeral was held in Hi no Kuni, attended by the Daimyo, for those who lost their lives. Chōji, Ino, and Kiba were just a few among the hundreds. Hinata survived but could no longer speak; her vocal cords had been severed, and the unclean environment hindered any potential recovery. The Jonin sensei were hospitalized, lying in comas for an unknown amount of time. But that night, something was happening—something that would change the tide of Hi no Kuni forever.
They moved like shadows, leaping from one corner to another as Minato walked through the silent corridor, eyes fixed ahead. His footsteps echoed softly, reverberating through the stillness until he reached the grand door. With a firm push, he swung it open. In the dim light, a lone Sharingan blazed to life, morphing into something far greater. Itachi Uchiha stood hidden in the shadows, weaving an illusion of the entire court—a masterpiece crafted without the need for Tsukuyomi. The Fire Daimyo sat lazily on his throne, fanning himself, blissfully unaware of the imminent confrontation. His guards remained oblivious to the threat that had just entered. Minato's gaze hardened, his voice steady as he addressed the Daimyo. "I have gathered proof of your and Danzo Shimura's involvement in the attack on my village on October 11th, fourteen years ago."
The Daimyo's fanning paused, his expression shifting as his eyes narrowed. "What is this nonsense you're talking about? Why would I do such a thing?" As if summoned from the depths of the past, the swordsmen who had attacked Obito all those years ago fell at Minato's feet, bound but unharmed. "It took years, but we were tipped off by someone who overheard you speaking with that snake," he declared. From the gathered crowd, Kimko stood, her voice steady and commanding. "My father conspired to assassinate the sitting Kage of Konohagakure out of envy. A man willing to kill the leader of our greatest defense doesn't deserve to be the Fire Lord!" Murmurs erupted in the hall, the atmosphere thickening with disbelief and shock. The Daimyo, flustered, pointed his fan at Minato. "Ninja Guardians! Get this man!" But nothing happened. Turning to the guardians, Minato watched as they each fell one by one, trapped in the genjutsu cast by Itachi. The Konoha ANBU stepped silently from the shadows, their presence marking the end of the Daimyo's machinations. It was over. And the Fire Daimyo knew it.
"So what! I'm the most powerful man in the Fire Country—" In an instant, Minato appeared in front of him, cold blue eyes piercing into Daimyo's own. "You are no longer the Fire Daimyo. Your abuse of power has weakened Hi no Kuni for personal gain." With a firm grip, Minato seized the man and began walking down the steps as Kimko ascended the throne. "I, Minato Namikaze, Yondaime Hokage of Konohagakure, back the ascension of Kimko. A warrior who fought valiantly by our side during the Crimson Dawn. There is no one better suited for this role than her." Konoha had always remained neutral during such disputes, but this had all been meticulously planned. One by one, nobles stood in support of Kimko's claim, their voices rising in unison. Before the day was over, word of the coup had spread like wildfire. Time was of the essence; the looming threat of The Disciples hung over them, and the new generation of shinobi needed to grow stronger, faster. The stakes had never been higher.
