Chapter 20

Scrambled Eggs Pt. 3

~Hazbin Hotel/Normal POV~

After the intense team-building exercises, everyone had retreated to the hotel. Charlie, feeling dejected, stood on the balcony when Vaggie approached to check on her.

"(waves) Hey." Says Vaggie.

"waves) Hey." Says Charlie.

"(sighs) Charlie, I'm so sorry I went crazy today."

Charlie reaches out grabbing hold of Vaggie's hands, "No, no, I'm sorry. I'm sorry for putting so much pressure on you. We work as a team. I guess I just thought it would be easy... but... we'll figure it out... together. And hey, look what your exercise did for them."

Charlie shows Vaggie Angel, Pentious, and Nifty laughing amongst themselves after their time in the turf war.

"(laughing) And then, when that buff guy started beating the shitoutta you!" Angel explained to Pentious.

"(laughing) Yes, and with the dismembered arm, (laughs) yes, that was particularly unpleasant." Pentious agreed.

"(giggles) I liked that part. (giggles)" says Nifty.

"Well, hey, at least you can take a beating like a champ. (walks over to the trio and gives Pentious a pat on the back) You did okay, new guy." Husk tells Pentious.

"Really?" Pentious' eyes sparkle in delight, oh well, I suppose I did get into a little of the old rough and tumble today. (laughs) And uh... thank you, for pulling me out of there."

The four shared a laugh together until Nifty's sinister laugh cut through the mirth, prompting the three gentlemen to slowly retreat from her.

"Well, how about that." Vaggie smiles witnessing the scene below her. At that moment, Alastor and Gwen came back, leading the Egg Boiz who followed in their wake.

"Alastor... Failed to get rid of the eggs, I see. Gwen, what happened?" Vaggie called out.

"Time got away from us Vaggie, sorry." Gwen apologized.

"Yes, well, the little monsters proved to be rather useful." Alastor smiled in a delightful sinister expression.

"Well, why don't you just return them to Pentious." Vaggie suggested.

Upon hearing this, Pentious got tears in his eyes. "Really?"

"Yeah, after today, I guess I can trust you with them." Vaggie smiled, but then got serious, "But seriously, no more weapons."

Upon hearing those final words, Pentious noticed a fiery blaze ignite within Vaggie's eyes, accompanied by the distinct sound of a sword being sharpened. Pentious nods in agreement before slithering over and embracing his Egg Boiz in a hug.

"Ahhh! My eggs! Yay! It's so good to have you four back." He hugged them for a short while before releasing them. "Now, go clean my quarters this instant!"

The Egg Boz salute then scatter away.

"Well, it seems that happy endings do exist after all." Gwen smiled having witnessed the scene before her.

"Maybe things will move faster than we think." Charlie smiled having watched the scene.

~Later that Night~

As evening descended upon the city, its inhabitants prepared for slumber. Pentious and his Egg Bois donned their pajamas and settled comfortably into bed. The Eggs were sitting against Pentious tail as Pentious laid on the bed getting snug as a bug.

"Ah, so, how was your day with Alastor and the mini princess, my minions?" Pentious asked.

"It was awesome boss, I got to go to this meeting and there was a knife lady, an old guy, and a dinosaur." Frank spoke highly.

"Mmm, that's nice."

"And the knife lady killed an angel, and I was not supposed to talk about it." Frank went on.

"Oh, I'm sure and maybe tomorrow you'll meet Martians, but now it the time for sleep."

The Egg Boiz settled into their sleeping spots on the bed, snuggling up close to Pentious.

"Good night Eggies." Pentious said, letting out a big yawn before drifting to sleep.

~Gwen's Room/ Gwen's POV~

Gwen had slipped into her pajamas and nestled into her bed, dedicating time to some late-night sketching before sleep. She attempted to distract herself from the recent events. It was her inaugural meeting with the overlords, and not only did she observe Carmilla and Velvette in conflict, but she also saw something unimaginable—a deceased Exorcist's head.

How could that be? Throughout her entire life, Gwen had been oblivious to the fact that angels could die. It was never mentioned by her parents; perhaps they were unaware as well. Which didn't make much sense to her because they were they king and queen of Hell. Wasn't it their duty to know these things? Then there was uncovering who killed that Exorcist. Did it even matter? Wait a minute, of course it mattered. If the identity of the killer was revealed, they could help against the upcoming Extermination in a couple of months. That could be a huge help to Charlie.

Gwen put her sketchbook down then fell backwards onto her bed. The soft cotton wool comforter touching her exposed skin. She heaved a deep sigh, gazing up at the ceiling, her mind teeming with questions and scant answers. She yearned to assist Charlie, but her options were limited. What actions could she take? What words could she offer? Without further details on who was responsible for the exorcist's demise, she was unable to disclose anything to Charlie.

She felt bewildered. The enigma surrounding the exorcist's demise would have to wait, a fact that only exacerbated her irritation. Moreover, with the impending Extermination, Charlie was already a bundle of nerves and didn't need any additional concerns. For the time being, Gwen would keep doing what she could to help Charlie and look for answers on the exorcist's death. Only then could she hope to help Charlie should things take a turn for the worse.

End of Chapter

I know I promised a flashback, but the next chapter will be about Gwen and there will be a flashback involved, or perhaps two.

Please hang tight and don't forget to read, review, and comment.
