Intro II: Still in the Command Center

As the author cannot think of a better name for this intro, Vesper and Renard returned from their lunch break and resumed reviewing the applications. This time, they focused on Andrew James HansonDrew—the 20-year-old lounge singer from Brooklyn, New York.

Drew stands at 6'0" with a lean yet muscular build, his physique reflecting his dedication to staying fit. His dark brown hair is kept short, often styled in a tousled, windblown look that adds to his carefree vibe. His deep blue eyes are striking, often gleaming with charm or mischief, depending on the situation. Drew's light tan skin adds to his overall polished look, complemented by his sophisticated rocker style. He's typically dressed in a navy blue button-down shirt, sleeves rolled up to reveal toned forearms, paired with faded grey jeans and black chukka boots. His casual yet stylish appearance matches his flirtatious personality, effortlessly blending refinement with a laid-back edge.

Vesper flipped through Drew's file with a raised eyebrow. "Well, this one seems like a handful," she remarked, her tone betraying a mix of curiosity and amusement. "He's got the charm, the swagger, the whole flirty bad-boy vibe down pat. But I can tell there's more beneath the surface. A lot of people are quick to judge him based on his rough exterior, but I think he has some depth. He grew up in an orphanage, and it looks like that's had a lasting impact on him. He learned to toughen up, to hide his softer side, but there's an emotional vulnerability there."

Renard leaned back in his chair, glancing over the details. "I can see why people would find him... seductive, as you said. But that attitude of his—being rude and impatient—could be a problem. He clearly has a strong ego, but I get the feeling that he's constantly fighting the notion that he's not good enough, that he needs to put on a tough persona to get respect. His fear of being forgotten, that's a big one. It's almost like he's afraid that if he lets his guard down, no one will care about him."

Vesper nodded, her fingers tapping rhythmically on the file. "His background in the orphanage explains a lot. It's a tough environment for anyone, especially a kid. That could've easily turned him into someone completely jaded, but instead, he found a way to channel his emotions—singing, playing the piano, dancing. He uses his talent to hide behind a mask, and it works for him most of the time. But deep down, I think he's craving real connection, real attention—something that's more than just surface-level admiration."

Renard frowned slightly, considering the strengths and weaknesses laid out before them. "The smoking, the fear of clowns... these are small things, but they add up. His temper and violent history in juvenile detention could also pose an issue. He's definitely a loose cannon in some ways, and if he doesn't learn to control that, it could cost him. But he's talented, no doubt about it. He's got the voice, the moves, the charisma. We could use someone like him on our team."

Vesper raised an eyebrow. "I agree. He might not be the easiest person to get along with, but he's got a sharp mind. The fact that he manipulates people with ease shows he's strategic in his own way. If we can reel him in a little, focus that energy, he could be an asset."

Renard's gaze softened as he looked over Drew's accomplishments, especially his passion for swimming and his love for romcoms. "Despite his bravado, he's been through some tough situations. Maybe he doesn't show it, but the kid's had to fend for himself. He's a fighter. And the fact that he's working as a lounge singer in a local club... that shows he's resourceful. He knows how to work a crowd, he knows how to get what he wants."

Vesper exhaled slowly. "So, we're both on the same page then. He's raw, untamed, and probably a bit of a handful, but there's potential here. He could work on his control, and he might surprise us. We'll just need to keep him in check, make sure he doesn't get too reckless."

Renard smiled slightly. "I think it'll be fun. He's got potential, but he's going to need guidance. If we manage to get him focused on something other than his ego, he could be a great fit. He won't back down from a challenge."

Vesper nodded, considering it further. "Alright, I think we've got enough here. His codename… something that reflects his charm, his flair, but also his unpredictability. How about Velvet? It's got that smooth, seductive quality to it, but there's also a rough edge when you scratch beneath the surface."

Renard agreed, his fingers tapping on the desk thoughtfully. "Velvet fits. He might seem soft and appealing at first, but there's a lot of grit underneath. It suits him."

And with that, Drew, with his mixture of charm, ego, and hidden vulnerability, was added to the roster. Codename: Velvet.

Vesper and Renard exchanged a glance as the hologram flickered, displaying the profile of André Smith. Vesper leaned forward, her eyes narrowing as she scanned his information. "A 19-year-old baseball player... this one has a lot of fire, doesn't he?" she remarked, tapping her fingers thoughtfully on the desk.

André stands tall at 6'4" with a muscular build that reflects his dedication to sports and physical activities. His buzzcut, dyed bright pink, adds an extra edge to his already imposing presence. His chestnut skin complements his intense brown eyes, which often seem to carry a spark of competitiveness. Despite his intimidating appearance, there's a certain charm in his confident stance and broad shoulders. He's often seen in his baseball uniform, showcasing his athleticism—complete with the number 16 emblazoned on his back. His casual style, with red socks, a backwards cap, and matching baseball gear, reflects both his love for the sport and his unpretentious nature, though he takes pride in looking strong and ready for action.

Renard raised an eyebrow, taking in the details. "Competitiveness runs deep with him. He's driven, no doubt. But I can see where his weaknesses might cause some issues. Arrogance, short temper... he's not exactly the type to back down when things get heated."

Vesper chuckled, crossing her arms. "That's an understatement. It's not just a short fuse; he's practically a ticking time bomb. Still, there's something to admire about his commitment. He's athletic, strategic in his own way, and knows what he wants. But I get the sense that he's not the most flexible when it comes to adapting to situations."

Renard nodded in agreement, studying the rest of the profile. "His background tells the story of someone who's used to taking the easy route. He skates by, doesn't care about book smarts, and sticks to what he's good at—sports. It's all about winning for him, which might make him a bit difficult to deal with when he's pushed out of his comfort zone."

Vesper raised an eyebrow, considering the deeper layers of André's personality. "It sounds like he's searching for something, though. There's a void in his life, something he's missing. That might be the opening we need to get through to him. He might not be the easiest person to manage, but I think he'll fight for what he wants if we give him a reason to."

Renard tapped his fingers on the desk thoughtfully. "There's potential in his drive. He could be an asset if we can focus that energy. He's tough, he has stamina, and he's not afraid of challenges. If we find a way to channel his need for victory in the right direction, we could make use of that fire."

Vesper's eyes gleamed with intrigue. "And his confidence... it might rub people the wrong way, but he's got the natural ability to back it up. Maybe, in a team setting, his ego will have to take a backseat, and he might have to rely on others. That's when we'll see if he can really adjust."

Renard grinned slightly. "He could use a bit of humility, but if we can guide him, we could bring out the best in him. It's all about balancing that arrogance with teamwork."

Vesper nodded, closing the file with a soft sigh. "Right. I'm not sold on him yet, but I think with the right push, he could be exactly what we need. As for a codename... something that reflects his passion for sports, his fiery attitude, and his commitment. How about Blaze? It's quick, sharp, and speaks to the intensity he brings to the table."

Renard smiled. "I like it. Blaze fits him perfectly."

And with that, André Smith—Blaze—was added to the list, ready to bring his competitive edge to the team, for better or worse.

Vesper glanced at the next application on the pile—Blake O'Byrne. As she skimmed the details, she could already sense a certain thrill surrounding him.

Blake, 25, a stunt double with a reputation for fearless precision, was someone who thrived on adrenaline. His file was thick with accolades and notes about his exceptional work in action films. There were reports of his stunts leaving audiences at the edge of their seats, and though he had a rough-around-the-edges reputation, there was an undeniable respect for his skill in the field.

Renard picked up on Vesper's interest, watching as she studied Blake's file with a critical eye. "Seems like he's got some experience in the dangerous realm of stunt work," he commented, leaning in to read over her shoulder.

Vesper gave a small nod. "Yeah, but it's not just the stunts. It's the attitude that comes with them. A lot of people like him—he's not just in it for fame. This guy thrives in chaos, and that might just be what we need."

Renard raised an eyebrow. "Chaos? You think he can handle the kind of chaos we deal with?"

Vesper smirked. "I think he's got the guts for it, whether he knows it or not. His background speaks for itself—risky, calculated, but always pushing the envelope. He's been involved in dangerous stunts, not just for the thrill, but because he has a knack for it. He seems to know exactly how to control a situation before it spins out of control."

Renard chuckled softly. "Seems like a wild card, then."

"Exactly," Vesper said, flipping through Blake's application. "He thrives in unpredictable environments, which could be useful in our line of work."

Blake O'Byrne stood at 6'2" with a well-built frame, sculpted from years of stunt work. His skin was fair but often sun-kissed from time spent outdoors, training for his next big film. His dark brown hair was kept short, practical for the stunts that required speed and precision. A tattoo on his right arm—a fierce-looking eagle in mid-flight—was a testament to his love for freedom and risk-taking, though he'd never shared the exact meaning behind it with anyone. His hazel eyes gleamed with a mix of focus and mischief, a duality that made him a captivating figure, both on and off the set.

He dressed casually, in a black leather jacket that screamed rebellious coolness. His pants were simple, well-worn jeans, and his boots—practical and durable—made it clear that he was always ready to spring into action. Even his gear had an air of calculated chaos about it. Whether on or off duty, Blake's wardrobe spoke volumes about his personality—someone who was always prepared for the unexpected, someone who lived for the rush.

Vesper turned to Renard, her eyes narrowing thoughtfully as she placed Blake's file on the table. "He's not afraid to get his hands dirty. He's tough, but I think there's something more to him. He's calculated under all that bravado, and he's managed to keep himself alive through dangerous stunts, so he knows how to stay sharp."

Renard was leaning back in his chair, considering the file with a discerning gaze. "A stunt double, huh? I bet he's used to being underestimated, but he's probably got a lot more going on in his head than people think."

"Exactly. His instinct for survival is strong, and that kind of mindset is what we need," Vesper said. "The real question is: will he be able to work as part of a team, or does he still have that lone-wolf mentality?"

Renard shrugged. "He might take some convincing. But if we push the right buttons, I think we can mold him into something useful. It's about making him see the bigger picture."

Vesper smiled. "He's a risk-taker, but if he can direct that drive into something more focused, he could be a valuable asset."

Renard paused for a moment before nodding. "He definitely seems like a guy who would take the challenge head-on."

They both turned their attention back to Blake's file. Vesper flicked her fingers, thinking about the right codename for him. He was the kind of person who wasn't afraid to jump into the unknown, someone who thrived in the face of danger.

"How about Talon?" Vesper suggested, her eyes narrowing as she considered the impact of the name. "It reflects the danger and precision of a bird of prey. And his tattoo—an eagle—fits too."

Renard's lips curled into a small smile. "I like it. Talon it is. A man who's sharp, calculated, and not afraid to dive headfirst into any situation. Let's see what he can bring to the table."

Eulen Jaris Princotta's file was next, and Vesper couldn't help but pause as she read through his details. Eulen, or E.J., was 22 with a background in swimming that stood out. He was described as sharp in the pool, but there was an underlying fear that plagued him—a fear that he was still learning to overcome. His unique blue hair, a striking contrast against his deep dark skin, made him stand out in a crowd, but it was clear there was more to his story than met the eye.

Renard leaned over Vesper's shoulder to read the file, his eyes narrowing in thought. "A swimmer with fear? That's an odd combination."

Vesper gave a slight nod. "Not uncommon, though. Fear can either paralyze or fuel someone. I think E.J. is still figuring out how to let it fuel him."

"Looks like we might need to help him find that balance," Renard mused, flipping the page to see more details.

Vesper placed her finger on the file, tapping it once. "I think he has potential. He's disciplined and has proven his sharpness in water. If we can push him past his fears, he'd be invaluable."

Renard agreed with a small grin. "Plus, his unique look could be an asset."

E.J. stood at 5'11", with deep brown skin that contrasted sharply with his bright, electric blue hair. His hair was styled in a short, tousled manner that suited his calm demeanor, but it also gave him a youthful, almost playful appearance. His large dark eyes, though warm and inviting, often seemed like they were searching for something beyond the surface—something that he hadn't yet found within himself.

His athletic build was a result of years spent in the pool, his muscles long and lean, honed by the demands of competitive swimming. He often wore clothing that was comfortable and functional, a reflection of his somewhat reserved nature. On a normal day, he could be seen wearing a simple black tank top, black track pants, and sneakers—clothing that didn't distract from the focus on his performance in the water. A lightweight jacket often rested over his shoulders, completing the look of someone who was always ready for the next training session, or the next challenge.

Vesper looked at Renard. "His fear might be his biggest obstacle, but I think he's aware of it. He has the drive to improve, and that's something we can work with."

Renard nodded. "We'll need to teach him to channel that fear into something productive, something that pushes him instead of holding him back. But I can see that he has the potential to be a real asset."

Vesper smiled as she slid the file back into the pile. "Exactly. He might just need the right push to realize his own strength."

After a brief moment of thought, Vesper turned to Renard. "Codename Aqua. His affinity for the water, his sharpness in swimming, and his current struggle to control the elements of his fears... it fits."

Renard chuckled softly. "It fits perfectly. Aqua it is. Let's see how E.J. adapts to the bigger challenges ahead."

As Vesper and Renard continued through their selection of candidates, they came upon a profile that seemed to offer a unique blend of qualities—Sloan Riley McCaffery. Vesper raised an eyebrow as she scanned the file, taking in the details of the young skateboarder's background.

"Another athlete?" Renard mused, his finger tracing the page. "Skateboarding, though—something a little more unconventional for our team."

Vesper nodded thoughtfully. "True, but she's more than just a skater. Her background, her ability to lead and adapt—she's resourceful. She has connections, a bit of a rebellious edge, and knows how to maneuver difficult situations. She could bring an interesting dynamic."

"Not to mention," Renard added, "she knows how to handle herself—she's been through a lot. Those ties to her brothers, the gang… there's a grit to her that could be useful in the field."

Vesper tapped the file, pondering. "She's been on the edge for a while now—maybe it's time she had something more productive to focus on. She could be a great addition."

Sloan stood at 5'6", with caramel-toned skin that highlighted the muscular build of her athletic frame. Her dark brown hair, dyed copper, fell in wild curls past her shoulders, often untamed, much like her attitude toward life. Her almond-shaped eyes glistened in the sunlight, their honey hue often betraying the sharpness that lay beneath her calm exterior. She was the picture of strength and determination—her toned body a result of years spent mastering the skateboard, her arms and legs covered in scars and cuts from countless falls.

She had a cool, effortless style that matched her demeanor. Sloan could often be seen in a skintight black cropped shirt that revealed her toned stomach, paired with low-rise baggy jeans and slip-on white sneakers—comfortable and perfect for when she needed to move quickly. Her accessories—pierced ears, a nose ring, and a star tattoo on her right shoulder—hinted at her free spirit, while her personality reflected someone who could easily slip between social groups without truly belonging to any one of them.

Vesper reviewed the file again, considering her final assessment. "Codename Skylark. It's a fitting name for someone who's always on the move, someone who soars above the rest, yet has the ability to cut through the air with precision and agility."

Vesper flipped through Petra Wilder's file with a raised eyebrow. The colorful personality jumped off the page, even before Vesper had the chance to read the full details. Her enthusiasm was contagious, and Vesper could easily see her being a lighthearted addition to the team. She took note of Petra's background in comedy, the self-doubt she carried, and her analytical approach to humor, which piqued Vesper's interest. Despite her seemingly goofy exterior, Petra had a certain depth to her.

Renard peered over Vesper's shoulder as she closed the file, his lips curling into a small smile. "A prankster, huh? I can already imagine the chaos she'd bring to the team."

Vesper chuckled. "Yeah, but there's more to her than just jokes. She's dedicated to honing her craft, even if she doubts her own ability. Plus, she's analytical. I think that's what makes her different from your typical 'silly' person."

Renard raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "She overthinks her humor?"

"Exactly," Vesper confirmed. "She's cautious about the jokes she shares, often scrapping the ones she feels won't land. She might be a bit airheaded, but she's got a level of self-awareness that could be beneficial in the right context."

"Hmm. Her comedic instincts might just be the break we need for this group," Renard said, folding his arms. "She's already got a channel, too?"

Vesper nodded. "She's dedicated to her craft, even if she struggles with consistency. But it seems she's genuinely trying to get better, and I admire that drive. I think she could bring some levity to the team without sacrificing the depth we need."

After a brief moment, Renard nodded. "Alright. I'm in. Let's see what this joker can do. What's her codename?"

Vesper tapped her chin thoughtfully. "Something that reflects her fun-loving spirit... Jest sounds appropriate."

Renard gave a quick grin. "Jest. Nice."

Petra Wilder was a bundle of energy, always with a smile on her face, her goofy and infectious personality lighting up any room she walked into. At 18 years old, she was just getting her feet wet in the world of comedy, a field that often felt like a tricky balancing act between trying too hard and succeeding effortlessly. With her distinct pink-and-yellow jacket and bright blue shirt, Petra's style mirrored her vibrant personality. Her red hair, tied up in a ponytail with a few strands framing her face, and the star-shaped yellow-tinted sunglasses resting on her head, completed the picture of someone who was always ready for a laugh and to make others laugh as well.

Standing at 5'6", Petra had an average build and a soft brown complexion that complemented her outgoing nature. One feature that stood out was a small red heart tattoo on her left cheek, a quirky touch that seemed to be the embodiment of her carefree personality.

Renard glanced at the file once more. "Let's see if she's more than just a jokester. I have a feeling she'll be more than a handful in the best way."

Vesper reviewed Lily Henderson's file with a mixture of intrigue and concern. The girl was an enigma wrapped in a chaotic bundle. Her bubbly attitude and strange appearance weren't the only things that caught Vesper's attention. The fact that she was the second-in-command of an organization called Chaos X was, to say the least, curious. Her personality could be a double-edged sword—on one hand, she was friendly, trusting, and extremely capable, but on the other, her loyalty to her organization ran so deep that anyone who crossed it was in serious trouble.

Renard glanced at the file over Vesper's shoulder, a bemused smirk on his face. "A theater mask and a chaotic ambition for world domination? What is it with these people and their need to 'rule the world'?"

Vesper exhaled sharply, her eyes narrowing as she thought about the implications. "Lily may have a bubbly personality, but there's something darker beneath the surface. If she's willing to sabotage anyone who stands against her organization, she could be a force to be reckoned with—both a reliable ally and a dangerous enemy."

Renard nodded, turning his attention to the rest of the details. "Her backstory with her friend Nathan—'Boss'—it sounds like she's heavily invested in his vision. But what's more concerning is that she'll do whatever it takes to get closer to the money. Ambition like that could make her unpredictable."

Vesper hummed thoughtfully. "True. She's trustworthy to those who align with her cause, but a potential nightmare to anyone who crosses her. We'll have to keep an eye on her."

Renard glanced back at her, his smirk widening. "Her personality may be unpredictable, but her loyalty to that cause is clear. And having someone like her on the team could work in our favor if we channel that ambition correctly."

Vesper grinned. "Exactly. Plus, she's flexible—both physically and mentally. We might need someone who can think outside the box, especially if she has to make quick decisions."

Renard's eyes sparkled with amusement. "Not to mention, if we run into any cockroaches, I'm sure she'll be more than willing to take them on for us."

Vesper chuckled softly before tapping her finger on Lily's file. "We'll see. As for her codename... Secretary might not suit her anymore, considering she's clearly more than just a follower. Let's go with Cipher."

Renard raised an eyebrow. "Cipher? Fits her, I guess. She's got the kind of enigmatic personality that leaves others guessing."

Vesper nodded in approval. "Exactly. If we play our cards right, Cipher could be one of our most valuable players."

Lily, at 19 years old, was the picture of contradiction. Standing at 5 feet 6 inches, with dyed blonde hair that cascaded down to her mid-back, and baby blue eyes that sparkled with energy, Lily seemed like the picture-perfect bubbly college student. Her style reflected that youthful exuberance—a black trench coat, pink tank top underneath, and matching pink sneakers. Yet, her outfit was completed with a sad-face theater mask that covered the right side of her face, hiding the pale skin caused by the mask's constant presence. The strange half-sad mask paired with the half-happy half-sad face symbol on the back of her trench coat made her look like someone from a far-off world—an impression enhanced by the secrets she carried.

Renard tapped the table thoughtfully. "Let's see if she can truly be an ally. I'm curious how she'll handle the pressure."

Vesper looked over the file one last time, her lips curling into a confident smile. "She'll be a wild card. But in the game we're playing, that's exactly what we need."

Vesper leaned back in her chair, her sharp eyes scanning the intricate and deeply layered file of Helena Dellacordova Figueroa. Her pen tapped rhythmically against the desk as she digested the actress's details. Beside her, Renard reclined on the couch, a bemused smirk forming as he read over her shoulder.

"This one's got the drama built into her," Renard commented dryly. "The Hollywood A-lister with a touch of sociopathy. Talk about ratings gold."

Vesper let out a faint chuckle. "She's more than just ratings gold. Helena's manipulative tendencies, coupled with her ambition, make her dangerous. If there's anyone who can turn an alliance into chaos, it's her."

"She doesn't just thrive in the spotlight—she feeds on it," Renard added. "The kind of personality that's magnetic, even if it's toxic. I can already see her stirring the pot with some of the other contestants."

"True," Vesper agreed. "But her overconfidence might trip her up. That, and her need for perfection. Put her in a less glamorous situation—one where she's not in control—and she might crumble."

Renard raised an eyebrow. "You think she's a flight risk?"

"No," Vesper said, shaking her head. "Helena doesn't quit. She's relentless, even to her own detriment. But that's what makes her so fascinating. She's a wildcard—a brilliant actress with a darker edge. In a setting like this, she could either dominate or self-destruct. Either way, she's a perfect fit."

"And her codename?" Renard asked.

Vesper tapped her chin thoughtfully. "Something fitting for her larger-than-life persona... Prima."

Renard let out a low whistle. "Perfect. She's the diva, the star, and the main event all rolled into one. Prima it is."

Helena radiated Hollywood glamour, her meticulously curated appearance making her stand out like a diamond in a coal mine. At 25 years old, the actress had already conquered the entertainment world, leaving a trail of sabotaged careers and crushed egos in her wake. Her signature blonde ponytail, held together by a pink scrunchie, cascaded down her back like spun gold, complementing her striking blue eyes and light tan skin. Standing at 5'6", Helena's hourglass figure and confident posture commanded attention wherever she went, ensuring all eyes were on her.

Her clothing screamed star power: a pink blouse under a chic yellow mini jacket, paired with a pink skirt that highlighted her curvaceous form. White leg warmers and pink shoes completed the ensemble, a look that screamed perfectionist down to the last detail. Despite her sweet and polished exterior, the truth of Helena's ruthless nature lay just beneath the surface—a truth only a few unlucky enough to cross her path ever discovered.

Renard set the file down with a satisfied grin. "She's the perfect storm of charisma and chaos. Let's see how the Prima performs under pressure."

Vesper nodded. "Agreed. She's in."

Vesper shuffled through the candidate files and stopped on Yeoreum Jung's application. The 23-year-old former K-pop idol had made waves in the entertainment world, but for all the wrong reasons. The file highlighted her bullying scandal, which had led to her downfall and subsequent withdrawal from the limelight. Despite her tarnished reputation, Yeoreum seemed determined to make amends and move forward.

Vesper arched an eyebrow. "A former idol, huh? I wonder if she truly wants to change or if this is just an attempt to repair her image."

Renard leaned back in his chair, his gaze fixed on the file. "Could go either way. A lot of people in her position will try to reclaim their fame, and it usually doesn't end well. But if she's genuinely seeking redemption, she might surprise us."

Vesper nodded thoughtfully, flipping through the file. "She's had a rough past, but it seems like she's committed to doing things differently. This could be her chance to prove she's more than just a scandal."

Renard's eyes narrowed, as if weighing the decision. "A redemption story, huh? It's a high-risk, high-reward kind of situation, but maybe she'll be exactly what we need." He smiled. "Alright, if she's looking to rise from the ashes of her scandal, her codename will be Phoenix."

Vesper smirked. "Perfect. It's a fitting name for someone trying to rebuild."

Yeoreum stood at 5'4", with delicate features that still carried remnants of her idol days. Her dark brown hair flowed in soft waves down her back, sometimes tied up in a sleek ponytail for a more understated look. Her eyes, a deep brown, were intense and often filled with self-reflection, as if she were constantly thinking about her past and how to make it right.

Her skin was fair, with a subtle glow, and her build was lean yet athletic. Gone were the tight, flashy outfits she once wore on stage; now, she preferred simple, modest clothing that allowed her to blend into the crowd. A soft, white blouse paired with dark jeans and black ankle boots became her go-to outfit, reflecting a more grounded version of the girl who had once been a shining star. A silver necklace and a delicate tattoo of a phoenix on her wrist—a symbol of rebirth—were the only things that hinted at the past she was trying to leave behind.

Renard leaned over and reviewed the file again. "She may be down, but she's not out. Let's see if she can live up to that Phoenix codename."

They sat across from each other, reading through the next candidate's file. Kit Sheppard's name stood out with a certain uniqueness, and as they skimmed through the details, Vesper couldn't help but feel a spark of interest. The mechanical wizard from Hamilton, Ontario, was certainly unconventional.

Standing at 6'1", they had an unassuming, almost frail build, their pale porcelain skin and short wispy blond hair giving them a somewhat ethereal look. Kit's androgynous appearance often left people unsure of how to label them, but Kit didn't care for labels anyway. They wore a tan trench coat with oversized pockets that seemed custom-made to hold their endless assortment of tools—everything from screwdrivers to pliers, and often, bits and pieces of whatever they'd taken apart recently. Underneath the coat, they wore dark blue leggings and a bright yellow t-shirt that contrasted with the otherwise neutral tones, paired with hot pink and black sneakers that added a bit of flair to their otherwise unremarkable appearance.

"I'm intrigued," Vesper said thoughtfully. "This one's definitely got a different vibe. Someone who approaches life like it's one giant puzzle to be solved."

Renard leaned back in his chair, studying Kit's file more closely. "A freelance mechanic, huh? I can already tell they've got a mind that works in ways we don't always see. The fact that they're into controlled destruction is definitely interesting, though I'm not sure how that'll play out here. Destruction could be a problem in the wrong context."

Vesper nodded. "They're not about chaos for the sake of chaos. Kit's a tinkerer, not a wrecking ball. They break things apart to understand how they work, not to cause harm. Their skills are all about precision, which could be useful, especially when it comes to problem-solving on the fly."

Renard was quiet for a moment, thinking it over. "I like the fact that they're confident in their own skin. But the social anxiety might be a challenge. Someone who's not great at connecting with others might struggle in a high-pressure situation."

Vesper rubbed her chin, considering this. "True. But I think their passion for engineering could help them focus on the mission. If they're given tasks that allow them to use their strengths—disassembling and reassembling—they'll be in their element. The rest of the team might just need to give them space and not force social interaction too much."

Renard grinned. "And their quirks could be entertaining. A nervous genius who doesn't know how to name their tools… There's a charm to that."

Vesper agreed, her lips curving into a smirk. "Yes. And I think their curiosity could be a double-edged sword. If they get too caught up in tinkering, they might miss the bigger picture, but their ability to think outside the box could be invaluable if things go off-script."

After a few moments of contemplation, Renard tapped the file and looked at Vesper. "Alright. I'm sold. Let's see what they can bring to the table. But what do we call them?"

Vesper's eyes gleamed. "Given their love for disassembling and piecing things back together… I think Gear fits."

Renard chuckled. "I like it. Gear it is. Let's see if they can handle more than just gadgets."

Vesper flipped through Jaswinder Lilavati's file next, her expression thoughtful as she studied the details. Jaswinder's background caught her attention immediately. A thief from New Delhi, India. That alone made them an intriguing candidate. Their non-binary identity was something Vesper could respect, and their confidence in their own skin made them stand out. But it wasn't just their identity—Jaswinder had a certain attitude that might bring an interesting dynamic to the team.

Renard glanced at Vesper, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. "A thief? What do you think? More trouble than they're worth?"

Vesper narrowed her eyes, considering. "Not necessarily. They're certainly bold and know how to get what they want. They might rub some people the wrong way with their rudeness, but if we can harness that attitude, they could be an asset. A thief has to be sharp, quick, and strategic. And that's not something you easily learn. It's a natural skill."

Renard raised an eyebrow. "A bit cocky though, huh?"

"Yeah, they come off as a little abrasive at times," Vesper admitted, "but there's potential. They're a bit of a wildcard—sometimes that's exactly what you need."

Renard chuckled, his eyes gleaming with curiosity. "Alright, I'm intrigued. What's the codename?"

Vesper tapped her finger to her chin, thinking for a moment. "How about Specter? A thief should be able to move in the shadows."

"Perfect," Renard nodded approvingly. "Let's see if this Specter can pull off what they say."

Standing at 5'8", they carried themselves with a quiet confidence, moving through the world with the same grace and stealth they applied to their career as a thief. Their hair was dark and cropped short, a stark contrast to the rest of their appearance, which had an air of casual defiance. Their dark brown skin was adorned with a few tattoos, one of which wrapped along their left arm like a sleeve. A gold hoop earring in each ear added an extra flair to their look. They wore simple, black, form-fitting clothing that allowed them to blend into the shadows, perfectly suited for their line of work.

Vesper leaned back in her chair, letting the information sink in. "This is going to be interesting. They'll keep everyone on their toes."

Renard nodded. "If they don't drive us all insane first."

Vesper's lips curled into a smile. "That's the fun of it. We'll see if this Specter can prove their worth."

The decision was made. Jaswinder Lilavati, the sharp, stealthy thief, would soon be added to the team. Whether their attitude would make them a liability or a key player was still up in the air, but Vesper was willing to give them the chance.

And here we have our cast, my fellow readers! Thank you all so much for applying. It wasn't easy picking a cast so I extended the cast to 20. I would also like to apologize to those who didn't get in, everyone did amazing in their apps. But to those who did, congratulations! I hope to write your characters to your expectations!

I also realized how robotic Renard was in the previous episode. Hopefully he had some character this time since he will also be a very prominent character other than Vesper who is the host.

Episode 1 is currently in progress and I hope to have it done before the end of this month! Again, thanks for applying!
