It's was th first day of kindergarten, and the kids are very excited to meet new kids around their age and become friends. Wendy is walking in the hallway with her mother on her side, holding hands until they reached into the classroom. They see other kids in the room, some of them are talking to each other as the others are putting their backpacks in the cubbies. The teacher, Mrs. Sandoval, saw Wendy with her mother and smile, she walked towards them.

Mrs. Sandoval: Is this Wendy Christensen?

Wendy's mom smile back as she nodded as an answer. Wendy is a bit shy and quiet, but she said, "Hi" very quietly. Her big, brown eyes are full of shyness and nervousness, in her arm, is her Sonic The Hedgehog lunchbox.

Wendy's Mom: Yep, this is Wendy. She's a bit shy, but she will get used to it for few days. Hope you will understand.

Mrs. Sandoval nodded in understandment.

Mrs. Sandoval: I understand.

Wendy's mom smile, thankful that Mrs. Sandoval understand about Wendy. She got on one of her knees and looked at Wendy as Wendy look at her.

Wendy's Mom: I know you're shy, Wendy, but I want you to make friends. I don't want you to be alone by yourself with no friends. I want you to be happy, okay?

Wendy slowly nodded with her eyes being to water with sadness.

Wendy: *quietly* Okay, Mom.

Wendy's mom saw tears from her daughter's eyes, making her sighed in sadness. She wiped the tears off of Wendy's eyes before she hugged Wendy, then stands up on her feet, and kiss her forehead.

Wendy's Mom: See you after school.

Wendy's mom hugged Wendy one more time before she left the classroom, walking down the hallway until she disappears to the distance. Wendy watches her mom leaving the school and sighed sadly, knowing that she will see her after school.

Mrs. Sandoval: Well, let's put your things in the cubby. Your cubby is the 12th one, on the top row. And go free to talk to the other kids until class starts.

Wendy slowly nodded again, but she didn't say anything. She walk towards the cubbies and put her backpack and her lunchbox in her cubby. As soon as she turns around from her cubby, she already saw kids talking to each other with a smile on their faces. Her watching the other kids is making her eyes to tears up in sadness. Her mind is racing, will she get any friends or she will ended up being alone?

At one of the tables next by the walls, there's a boy with black, curly hair. He's watching Wendy standing by herself, about to cry, so he stand up from the chair and start walking towards her. He slowly reaches out his hand to Wendy's shoulder, which made Wendy to look at him.

The boy didn't say anything, but he guided Wendy to the table next by the wall he was sitting before. Both Wendy and the boy sit down on the chairs around the table, still looking at each other, without saying a word. Until Wendy broke the silence.

Wendy: *quietly* What's your name?

The boy look down at the table and sighed lightly. He don't want to say anything or to talk, but he doesn't want to leave Wendy hanging. He look back at Wendy and start saying his name in a quiet, soft tone.

Boy: Ian. Ian McKinley.

Wendy: Ian McKinley. That's a really nice name.

Ian: Thanks. What about you?

Wendy: Wendy is my name. Wendy Christensen.

The kids start walking out of the school with smiles on their faces. They run up to their parents and hugged them, telling them that they have a great day of school. Wendy and Ian walked towards their mothers, who's are standing next by each other, together and give their mothers a hug.

Wendy and Ian: Yaaaay!!

Their mothers chuckles to see their kids being excited to hangout together. They take their kids to their cars and start taking them to home. They were driving for a while until they arrived at the Christensen's house. As soon as Wendy and Ian's mom stopped and parked their cars, Wendy and Ian immediately got out of the cars and started running towards the house with excitement.

Their mothers follow them with a smile on their faces to see their kids running together towards the house. The four of them got in the house to see Wendy's dad sitting on the couch in the living room, with Wendy's little sister, Julie, playing with stuffed animals. Wendy's dad looks at them and smiles.
