Chapter 21
When Thor and Loki returned to Stark Towers, they brought with them an assortment of scripts and ancient texts that might hold clues about their mysterious enemy, Malekith the Accursed : The ruler of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim . Kagome and Tony eagerly joined them in the spacious living area, ready to decipher and analyze the information they had gathered.
The room buzzed with activity as Kagome and Tony pored over the scripts, translating and cross-referencing their findings. Tony, ever the charismatic and playful one, couldn't resist the opportunity to engage Kagome in a bit of flirtatious banter. He knew it would rile Thor, and he was still harboring some resentment towards the Asgardian prince for the way he had treated Kagome.
"So, Kagome," Tony began with a mischievous grin, "I've been meaning to ask, are all marriages as complicated as yours?"
Kagome, used to Tony's playful teasing, laughed softly. "You have no idea, Tony. Asgardian marriages come with their own set of challenges."
Thor, overhearing their conversation, couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy and frustration. He had a sinking feeling that Tony was flirting with Kagome to get under his skin, and it was working.
Loki, sitting nearby and fully aware of Tony's antics, couldn't resist adding fuel to the fire. "Ah, it seems the man of iron has taken an interest in our dear Kagome. Who could blame him? She is quite captivating."
Tony, unfazed by Loki's comments, continued to banter with Kagome, his playful remarks filling the room with laughter and energy. It was his way of showing support for Kagome and letting her know that she had friends who cared about her.
As they delved deeper into their research, Kagome and Loki found themselves spending late nights together, poring over the ancient scripts and deciphering their secrets. Tony, who could observe their interactions through Jarvis, noticed the growing camaraderie between Kagome and Loki.
One evening, after Kagome and Loki had been engrossed in their work, Tony approached Kagome with a knowing smile. "You know, Kagome, I've been thinking. Maybe I've been a bit too forward with my flirting. It seems you and Loki are quite the dynamic duo when it comes to research."
Kagome chuckled, appreciating Tony's understanding. "Thank you, Tony. Loki has been a great help. We make a good team."
Tony nodded, his expression sincere. "I can see that. Maybe it's time for me to support Kime, (key-me)" he said with a wink, using the playful portmanteau for Kagome and Loki.
Tony's jest about "supporting Kime" had a momentary effect on the dynamics in the room, making both Loki and Kagome pause and consider the possibility of a romantic connection between them. Thor, believing it was all in good humor, paid it no mind and continued to focus on their mission.
Kagome, however, brushed off the idea with a soft chuckle. While she viewed Loki as a dear friend and valued his companionship during their late-night research sessions, she didn't entertain the notion of a romantic relationship with him. She knew that Loki had his own complexities and that his past actions couldn't be forgotten. She was all for giving people second chances but at the moment she was stretched far too thin.
Loki, on the other hand, found himself pondering the idea. He approached it from a logical perspective, analyzing the potential consequences of pursuing a romantic involvement with Kagome. While the idea of taking away his brother's bride held a certain allure, he recognized that Kagome was fragile and deeply hurt.
The thought of seeing Kagome crumble even further weighed heavily on him. Instead, he wished to see her return to the spirited and resilient woman he had first met in his cell. He couldn't help but blame Thor for extinguishing the fire that had once burned so brightly within her.
Surprised by the intensity of his own anger towards his brother for hurting Kagome, Loki pushed those emotions aside and focused on the task at hand—the search for Kagome's bow. He believed that if she could regain a part of herself through her weapon, it might reignite the fire in her soul, allowing her to become the fierce and spirited woman she once was.
With renewed determination, Loki and Kagome continued to sift through scripts and texts, searching for any clues that might lead them to the location of Kagome's cherished bow. Their quest became a symbol of hope, a way to reclaim a piece of Kagome's identity, and perhaps, in the process, mend some of the wounds inflicted upon her heart.
