A/N Hey all and welcome back to Pokemon Omega Loud! This chapter will have Lynn Sr. and Lincoln enter a cooking competition where some familiar faces from the Pokemon franchise will make an appearance. I will admit this chapter is a bit of a doozy as I watched a looooaaadd of cooking competitions to get inspiration for this one, so I hope I managed to do it some justice. Anyways I hope you like reading this one as much as I did writing it!
"I'm telling you dad, your Lynnsagna will be a huuuge hit!" Lincoln argued as he and his companions made their way towards the Pokemon Center so Lynn Sr. could drop off his luggage.
"I'm still not sure…" said Lynn Sr. While he was ecstatic about entering a cooking competition with his son, he had some reservations about what meal the two Louds would cook together.
"Let's ask May and Lana what they think once you've dropped off your bag." said Lincoln as the group entered the Pokemon Center, where Lincoln led his father towards the room he was staying in.
While the two Loud men continued to talk Lana ran towards her and May's room where she checked on the status of her Pokemon Egg. She gently lifted the egg out of the makeshift nest she had made from spare towels and blankets and began softly speaking to it.
"Hey little guy," she said, "I can't wait for you to hatch. I know you and I will get along great."
As Lana spoke to the egg, May quietly entered the room and noticed what the little blonde girl was doing.
"It shouldn't be too much longer until it hatches," said May. "With all the care and attention you've given it, it's sure to be perfectly healthy."
"I hope so," said Lana. As she was gently rubbing her hand across the egg's surface, she was startled when the egg began twitching erratically. The girl gasped as the egg began flashing on and off with a pale white light.
"Speak of the Giratina!" said May as she stepped closer, "It's hatching!"
Lana squealed in excitement as she lifted the egg into her arms and ran out of the room towards Lincoln's room, May following along.
Meanwhile in Lincoln's room, the two Loud men were still deep in conversation about what they should cook, with Lynn suggesting something fancy like his Beef Wel-Lincoln.
"Dad, the competition is being held at a seaside restaurant on a beach. I think fancy food might be going a bit too far." Lincoln argued.
Lynn thought about it for a moment, before ultimately deciding that his son was right. However, before he could make another suggestion, rapid knocking came from the door. Lincoln quickly stood and answered, only to get bowled over as Lana ran into the room, her Pokemon egg in hand.
"Guys! Guys! GUYS!" she shouted excitedly, "My egg is hatching!"
Lincoln quickly leapt to his feet as May entered the room, excited looks on both trainers' faces while the sole Loud parent looked confused. Confusion soon gave way to awe as Lana carefully placed the egg on Lincoln's bed while everyone gathered around in anticipation.
The egg continued to flash on and off for a few minutes, the flashing increasing as time went by before the egg shone brighter than ever. Everyone present shielded their eyes from the light, and as it faded they carefully lowered their hands to see what had hatched.
Sitting on Lincoln's bed was a small blue crocodile-like Pokemon with three red spikes on its back and a single longer spike on its tail. The Pokemon slowly opened its black eyelids revealing a pair of shining red eyes. It looked around at its surroundings, seeming a bit confused before its gaze settled on Lana, who looked like she was on the verge of tears from happiness.
The Pokemon slowly stood on its hind legs, making some small unsteady steps towards the blonde girl. When it was close enough it took a small cursory sniff of the girl, before gaining an excited look on its face and nuzzling into the side of her face.
"Hey, Little guy!" she said as she cried. "It's great to finally meet you! I'm Lana."
While the young trainer and her new Pokemon embraced, Lincoln slowly took out his Pokedex and scanned the new Pokemon.
Totodile, the Big Jaw Pokemon, Male. Despite the smallness of its body, Totodile's jaws are very powerful. While the Pokémon may think it is just playfully nipping, its bite has enough power to cause serious injury.
As the Pokedex finished speaking, Totodile began gently gnawing on Lana's hat, causing the girl to giggle and Lynn Sr. to become nervous after hearing how powerful its jaws are.
"Ah you're just a little biter, huh?" said Lana. "I think I'm going to call you Chompy."
Chompy smiled a large toothy smile as it began dancing in happiness. Lana took out an empty Pokeball and tapped chompy on top of his head. The Pokeball clicked shut and locked with zero problem and Lana quickly let Chompy back out so they could get to know each other better.
A few minutes later, Lana had taken Chompy to see the Nurse so she could check to see if the Totodile was healthy. As she did this Lincoln and Lynn Sr. began asking May what dishes she thinks would work best for the competition. It was during this conversation that the two Loud men made an interesting discovery.
"You have no idea what Lasagna is?" asked Lynn Sr. incredulously. May shook her head in denial as Lynn Sr. turned to his son. "How can they not know about Lasagna?"
"To be fair, we are in a different dimension." said Lincoln. "Some foods from our universe might not exist here, and vice versa. I know they have pasta here, but maybe no one has thought of Lasagna."
Lynn Sr. thought about that for a moment. Lasagna was his specialty and to hear that an entire universe of people have never had it was shocking to him. Lynn Sr. nodded, making his decision.
"Well we can't have that." he said as he turned to his son. "Tomorrow, you and I are going to be the first people in this dimension to cook Lasagna for the competition.
Lincoln smiled at his father's enthusiasm. It was at this time that Lana and Chompy made their way back to the group, Lana smiling from ear to ear.
"Nurse Joy said that Chompy is in perfect health." she announced to her companions. May smiled at the little blonde girl.
"That's fantastic Lana!" she said, before an idea came to her mind. Pulling out Pamcham's Pokeball she released the infant Pokemon, who looked at her surroundings in curiosity. After a moment the Playful Pokemon's eyes landed on Chompy, who was staring at her with equal curiosity. The two young Pokemon looked at each other for a moment before getting closer to each other. After a bit of sniffing each other the two Pokemon smiled and began chasing each other around in play.
While the two played, Lana turned towards her dad and older brother. "So have you decided what to cook for the contest?"
"Yeah, we're going to do Lasagna," said Lincoln who then looked up at the nearby clock. "In fact, I think registration just opened so we should head down there before all the slots get taken up."
Quickly grabbing their bags (along with Lana and May grabbing Chompy and Pancham) the group left the Pokemon Center and headed in the direction of the beach.
-=o=-
By the time the group made it to the Seashore House there was already a large crowd of people waiting to sign up.
Lincoln whistled at the sight of the large crowd. "That is a lot of people." he said "I wonder why there are so many people here for such a small contest?"
"It's because one of the judges is Siebold from Kalos." came a voice.
The group turned to see a boy about Lincoln's age. He had short red and orange spiky hair and was wearing a chef's jacket with red trim over a pair of gray shorts, with the left leg having some blue around the hem. On his feet was a pair of red and orange shoes. In his hand was a frying pan, which he was using to roll a Pokeball around like he was sauteing it.
"Wait, you mean Siebold, the world famous chef and member of the Kalos Elite Four, Siebold!?" said May in shock.
The boy nodded. "Yup. This contest used to be much less popular but it's become a serious world renowned competition in recent years, so they started bringing in some famous names to help bring in more people."
The boy stepped forward, holding his hand out towards Lincoln. "My name is Crispin. I'm here from Unova on holiday."
Lincoln took Crispin's hand and shook it. "I'm Lincoln." he said before gesturing towards his companions and introducing them. "This is my dad, Lynn Sr., my little sister, Lana, and my friend May. I'm currently doing the Hoenn Gym Challenge and May is a Pokemon Coordinator."
Lana and May smiled and waved at Crispin, while Lynn Sr. shook the boy's hands. "That's some serious gear you have there," said Lynn Sr. "Are you entering the competition as well?"
Crispin nodded. "Yeah. Part of the reason why I chose Hoenn to vacation at. I take it you're a chef as well?"
Lynn Sr. nodded. "Yes I am. I own and act as head chef at my own restaurant."
Crispin's eyes widened. "You own your own restaurant? My parents own one as well and I'm hoping to take over when the time is right."
As they spoke the crowd began to thin as people finished registering. Eventually Lincoln's group made it to the registration counter.
"Hi there!" said the person at the counter. "Are you here to register for the competition?"
Lincoln and Lynn Sr. stepped forwards. "Yes. I'd like to register with my son." said Lynn Sr.
The woman nodded and quickly took down their details. "Okay and what Pokemon are you using for the competition."
Lynn Sr. was shocked as he didn't know too much about Pokemon and had no idea they needed to have a Pokemon to compete with. Luckily Lincoln had read up on the rules beforehand and quickly checked the Pokemon he had with him.
"We'll be using my Combusken and my Alolan Rattata." he said after a moment's deliberation.
"Fantastic," said the woman before she handed the duo a pamphlet. "The competition has two parts. In the first part you and your partner Pokemon must race against other competitors to grab the best ingredients for your dish. If you grab everything before the time runs out you then move to the cooking portion where you and your partner Pokemon cook the best dish you can think of to wow the judges."
"Sounds simple enough," said Lynn Sr. as Lincoln nodded along. The two then moved off to the side so other people could register, where Lynn Sr. asked Lincoln a couple questions.
"So what made you choose those two Pokemon for the competition?" he asked his son.
"Well, Lynn is a fire type so she can help us with making sure everything is cooked properly. As for Rattata, I remembered its Pokedex entry said it can help you find the freshest ingredients if you take it shopping with you, so I figured it would help with the race portion of the competition." Lincoln replied.
Lynn Sr. took a moment to absorb the information his son had given him.
'Hmm I could use a Pokemon like Rattata for when I need to do food runs for home and the restaurant.' he thought.
-=o=-
That night after Lana and May had retired for the evening, Lynn Sr. and Lincoln were still going over what ingredients they needed to grab in order to make their lasagna, while also letting Rattata out so Lynn Sr. would be used to having a Pokemon nearby. Currently the Mouse Pokemon was resting on Lynn Sr's lap while the man was writing down ingredients.
"Okay so we're going to need meat, onions, carrots, tomatoes, spices, and cheese. Do we need anything else?" said Lynn Sr.
Lincoln thought for a couple minutes. "We'll probably have to make the pasta from scratch, since I don't think the market will have pre-made lasagna sheets since lasagna doesn't exist here, so we'll need flour and eggs."
Lynn Sr. wrote down the necessary ingredients. "It's a good thing I know how to make pasta from scratch. Are there any other ingredients that don't exist in this universe?"
"Well most people here use the different berries that grow in this universe as ingredients or spices… maybe we can incorporate some of them into the recipe?"
"Wouldn't that make the lasagna too sweet?" asked Lynn Sr.
"Only if you use the sweet berries. Some are bitter, some are sour, and some are spicy like chili peppers. They are also loaded with loads of health benefits for both humans and Pokemon." Lincoln replied.
Lynn Sr. gently scratched behind Rattata's ears. "Since I'm not familiar with them I guess that's where you come in, huh little guy?"
Rattata made a purring sound as he enjoyed being scratched.
Soon thereafter, the two Loud men and Pokemon decided to turn in for the night in order to be well rested for the competition.
-=o=-
The following day found the two Loud men standing with other contestants as the owner of the seashore house addressed the crowd. Standing behind the man were two other men who would serve as judges alongside the owner. One was a tall skinny blonde man with a stern expression on his face. The other was a large burly man with a white and blue beard, as well as a thick white and blue unibrow, both reminiscent of ocean waves. The larger man wore a blue chef's apron with several attached pockets over his clothes while the blond man wore an elegantly made chef's uniform with blue tie around his neck.
"Welcome everyone to the Seashore House's annual Cooking Competition!" yelled the owner as everyone stared in rapt attention. "I can see that we have several promising chef's eager to test their culinary skills against each other."
The man gestured to the two men behind him. "To help me with the task of finding the best chef among you, are my fellow judges, Kofu from the Paldea Region, and Siebold of the Kalos Elite four!"
The crowd cheered as the two chef's stepped forward, Kofu waving enthusiastically while Siebold merely nodded.
Lynn Sr. leaned down to talk to his son. "Looks like Siebold might be a hard judge to impress."
Lincoln nodded, before looking down at the two Pokemon by his side. Lynn looked eager for any challenge while Rattata looked a bit nervous being in such a large crowd. Before he could comfort the small Pokemon, he was surprised when his father knelt down and gently picked up the Mouse Pokemon and placed him on his shoulder.
"You stick with me little guy, and you'll have nothing to worry about," said the older Loud man. Lincoln watched in awe as Rattata calmed down almost immediately after hearing his dad speak.
As the owner went over the rules, Lincoln took a moment to look around at the other competitors. He immediately recognized Crispin standing nearby with a small orange Pokemon floating next to him. It had a mischievous expression on its face and looked a little bit like a lightbulb with a large point on its head and lightning bolt shaped 'arms.'
Lincoln pulled out his Pokedex and quickly scanned Crispin's Pokemon.
Rotom, the Plasma Pokemon. Its body is composed of plasma. It is known to infiltrate electronic devices and wreak havoc. Depending on the device, this Pokemon is able to change its type.
'Hmmm.' he thought, 'that Pokemon is a bit of a wildcard. Better keep an eye on it.'
Lincoln turned back to the stage as the owner finished going over the rules. He then motioned to a nearby cluster of shopping carts.
"Now then if the contestants will each grab a shopping cart we can get this competition started!" said the owner.
Lincoln and Lynn Sr. along with the rest of the contestants quickly grabbed a cart then took their places at the starting line.
Meanwhile Lana and May were standing nearby where a section of the beach had been roped off for spectators to observe the contest. Lana had already called the family, turning on the Dimensional Watch's display so they could watch the competition as well.
"So can someone tell me what dad and Lincoln are doing again?" asked LJ as the family waited for the race to begin.
"Lincoln and your dad have to race against the other contestants to the nearby market and grab the ingredients necessary for their dish and then make it back before the time runs out." May replied.
"So it's kinda like a biathlon but with cooking?" Lori asked. May nodded in confirmation as a loud bang came from the judges stand, signifying the start of the race.
The Louds and May cheered as the wave of competitors surged forward. Most of the competitors began to struggle as the beach sand proved difficult to push the carts through. Some contestants had their Pokemon push the cart while they ran alongside it.
Lincoln's Combusken, Lynn, proved invaluable here as the fighting type was more than strong enough to push the cart through the sand as the two Loud men followed close behind. After a few minutes of running, Slateport City's market square came into view.
Already several contestants had made it to the market and were currently running around grabbing ingredients. When the two Louds made it to the market, Lynn Sr. and Rattata immediately began running to each produce stall to get what they needed. Lynn Sr. would have been lost as he saw several items he was unfamiliar with, but thanks to Rattata they managed to find what they were looking for. All the older Loud man had to do was ask Rattata for a specific ingredient or flavour and the small Mouse Pokemon would immediately rush forward and point at the specified item.
Soon their cart was loaded with Tomato berries, Moomoo Cheese, onions, carrots, minced meat, spices, tomatoes, and flour to make pasta. All they needed were eggs. As they looked in the direction of the egg stall, they saw that there was only one packet of eggs left. They quickly rushed forward, immediately noticing that a few other contestants were beelining it towards the stall as well.
The two Louds ran faster almost neck and neck with the other competitors, when Rattata leapt forwards and grabbed the carton of eggs. The Mouse Pokemon dodged the other competitors' Pokemon as they tried to steal the eggs, but Rattata held onto the carton using Quick Attack to get back to the Louds.
With the last item secured, the Louds ran as fast as they could back towards the Seashore House. As they ran, Lincoln kept a close eye on the time, noticing that they had only a couple minutes to make it back before time ran out.
Meanwhile back with the spectators, Lana and May were busy apologising to the Louds about their inability to show what was happening during the race.
"This sucks!" said LJ, "How are we supposed to know what's happening if we can't see it!"
At that moment Leni leaned forward and pointed "Look!" she cried, "Someones coming!"
The Louds and May looked in the direction she was pointing and could make out a group of contestants heading their way. May and Lana immediately recognized Crispin near the front of the group, followed close behind by a tall man with neatly combed green hair wearing what looked like a French waiters outfit with a green bowtie. Standing on the front of the man's cart was a green monkey pokemon with a beige coloured chest and arms and what looked like a sprig of broccoli growing from its head.
Out of curiosity Lana pulled out her PokeNav and scanned the man's Pokemon.
Pansage, The Grass Monkey Pokemon, Male. It shares the leaf on its head with weary-looking Pokémon. These leaves are known to relieve stress.
As they watched, Crispin, the man with green hair, and a few other contestants crossed the finish line. Each one stopped to catch their breath once they made it back.
"Congratulations Chefs!" came the owner's voice. "You have all made it to the next round." He then looked towards the clock and checked the time. "With only 30 seconds left on the clock it looks like the remaining contestants will be disqualif-"
A loud cry from the crowd gained the judges attention as everyone's attention was drawn back towards the market. There running as fast as they could were Lynn Sr. and Lincoln. They both had grim expressions on their faces as they pushed themselves past their limits. Following close behind the two was Lincoln's starter while Rattata rode in the cart with the ingredients.
The crowd cheered as the two men grew closer and closer, but none cheered as loud as the Loud family themselves. The two Loud men looked at each other, a grin growing on their faces as they crossed over the finish line, just as a loud siren rang out signifying time had run out.
The Louds cheered as the two men collapsed in exhaustion, doing their best to catch their breaths but wearing pleased expressions on their faces.
After giving everyone a chance to rest, the contestants were soon directed to a nearby area where some makeshift kitchens had been set up, each containing everything the chefs would need to make their dishes and topped off with wood burning stoves.
"All right contestants!" said the owner. "Now comes the part everyone has been waiting for! Time to find out which among you has what it takes to claim victory!"
The crowd cheered as each contestant took their places at their allocated kitchens.
"At the sound of the bell, each contestant will have two hours to make their best dish in order to wow the judges, myself included. Each dish will be tasted and evaluated, but only one can be declared the victor!"
As the owner spoke, the Louds watching from home waited to see what their loved ones would make. They also began to talk amongst themselves about their dad and brother's chances of winning.
"Do you think they'll win?" asked Luan with a nervous look on her face. "I mean dad's a great cook but the rest of the competition looks like they mean business."
"Have faith in your father and brother," said Rita. "I'm sure they'll do great."
Soon everyone's attention was drawn back to the contestants as the starting bell rang out. Quickly each contestant got to work making their dishes. As they did so the three judges began walking around each contestant's workspace, occasionally asking questions about their process and evaluating their skills.
"Okay, Lincoln I need you to start chopping the vegetables while I get started on the pasta." said Lynn Sr. as he took command. Lincoln nodded and immediately got to work.
Lynn Sr. turned to the two Pokemon awaiting their orders. "Okay Rattata, you stay with me and hand me whatever I ask for? Lynn, I need you to heat up the stove and oven and keep them at a steady temperature, okay?"
The two Pokemon nodded and went about their tasks. Soon Lynn Sr. began making his pasta, starting off by making a small nest out of flour and then placing the eggs and some olive oil in the center. He then began mixing the ingredients together until he had made a nice thick dough which he began kneading until it was smooth.
While Lynn Sr. was making the pasta, Lincoln was hard at work cutting the ingredients to make the sauce. As he worked he glanced at some of the other contestants, seeing that Crispin's Rotom had possessed the oven he was working with and was busy keeping things hot, while a few of the other contestants had their Pokemon hard at work preparing the ingredients.
When Lincoln turned back to his father, he was surprised to see him already feeding the pasta dough into a pasta maker in order to make a nice large, thin sheet of pasta. Once he was done, Lynn Sr. then cut the pasta into several smaller sheets, before grabbing the cut up ingredients and using them to make a rich flavourful sauce, while having Lincoln begin cooking up the meat.
After an hour had gone by Lynn Sr. began layering all the ingredients with Lincoln's help, as the judges arrived at their kitchen.
The judges watched for a moment, each one intrigued and slightly confused by what the two Louds were making.
Kofu stepped forward watching Lynn Sr's movements intently. "So what dish are you preparing for us today Mr….?"
Lynn Sr. smiled, before briefly extending his hand and shaking Kofu's as he introduced himself.
"Loud. Lynn Loud Sr." he replied "And today I'm making something from my home called Lasagna, or LYNNsagna as I call it!"
The three judges looked at each other. "I've never heard of 'Lasagna'" said Siebold. He turned to the other two judges. "Have either of you?"
Kofu shook his head, while the owner of the Seashore House just shrugged his shoulders. Turning back to Lynn Sr., Siebold spoke to the Loud chef. "Can you please walk us through your process?"
With a large grin, Lynn Sr. explained step by step how lasagna was made, all while finishing up with creating his dish and then putting it into the oven. As he spoke each judge smiled at the man's enthusiasm. Satisfied with his explanation the judges left to continue their task.
While their dish cooked, the two Louds and their Pokemon began cleaning up after themselves. As they did, Lincoln noticed that several other chef's were doing the same, including Crispin and the green haired man from before.
Soon the buzzer sounded, announcing the end of the competition and the start of the judging. Each chef prepared a plate with their dish which they set at the end of their counter where the judges could taste their efforts.
At each counter the judges would compliment each chef on their efforts, but betrayed nothing when it came to whether or not they liked or disliked the dish.
Crispin prepared what he called an Academy Special from his school in the Unova Region. It contained a veritable mountain of food from fries, to a bowl of ramen, all capped off with a donut topped with pudding. Meanwhile the green haired man, who they learned was named Cilan, made something called a Pot-au-Feu de la Fille which Lynn Sr told Lincoln was a type of cooked meat and vegetables in a broth.
Finally the judges arrived at the Loud's counter where they examined their plates of Lasagna intently. Each one tasted the dish though their faces remained blank as they savoured each mouthful. Lynn Sr. and Lincoln stood as calm as they could, though they would be lying if they said they weren't nervous.
After a few moments the judges left to deliberate. As they did, the contestants went around to each kitchen and tried each other's food.
"I have to admit," said Lynn Sr. as he tried Crispin's dish. "You have a lot of skill for someone so young."
Crispin smiled at the older man's praise, as Lincoln complimented the red haired boy. "I was surprised when your Rotom took control of the oven, but I can see where that would be a huge help."
"Yeah, Rotom is the best partner a chef could ask for," said Crispin as his partner zipped around the area.
It was then Crispin's turn to try Lynn Sr, dish and the moment the fork touched his tongue, Crispin's eyes widened in delight.
"Holy Arceus!" said Crispin, "That's amazing! What did you call this again?"
"Lasagna," said Lincoln, "Or my dad's take on it which he calls Lynnsagna."
"It's so good! I've never tasted anything like it!" asked Crispin. Soon other chefs arrived after hearing the boy's words and after trying the dish began to praise the elder Loud man as well.
Soon a voice rang out as the judges called for everyone's attention.
"Could all contestants please come to the stage!" said the voice. Contestants and spectators alike began moving back towards the main stage where the judges waited. There Lynn Sr. and Lincoln rejoined May and Lana as they waited for the results to be tallied.
"You guys did great!" said LJ. The rest of the Louds back home expressed similar sentiments. Lana and May both hugged Lincoln as they congratulated the two men. After a couple more moments everyone turned back to the stage as the owner of the Seashore House spoke up again.
"I want to thank everyone for making this the best competition the Seashore House has seen to date!" he said to riotous cheers. After motioning for everyone to quiet down, he continued.
"While we would love for each and every one of our contestants to be declared the winners, sadly only one of you can claim the victory."
Motioning towards Kofu and Siebold, the two celebrity chefs stepped forwards. "After conferring with my fellow judges, we have come to a decision."
Everyone grew quiet as anticipation moved through the crowd.
"In third place, we have Crispin from the Blueberry Academy in Unova!" he said. The crowd cheered as Crispin stepped on stage and shook the judges hands. Once it was quiet the owner continued.
"In second place," he said, "We have chef Pierre of Lumiose City in Kalos!" Once again the crowd cheered as a portly man with slicked back hair took his place next to Crispin. The Louds and May cheered with the rest of the crowd, but grew nervous when they realised that only the winning spot remained.
"Once again I would like to thank each and everyone of our contestants for competing, but sadly only one can be the victor." said the owner. "In first place….Chef Cilan of Striaton City in Unova!"
The crowd cheered while the Louds and May groaned in disappointment. Lynn Sr. and Lincoln's faces fell while LJ began booing from back in Royal Woods.
"However!" said the owner, causing everyone to fall silent again. "The judges and I would like to announce an Honorable Mention!"
Siebold and Kofu stepped forwards, "Would Lynn Loud Sr, and Lincoln Loud please join us on stage."
Lynn Sr. and Lincoln started then made their way on stage. "We would like to award Chef Loud for a special innovation in cooking!" said Siebold.
Kofu turned towards Lynn Sr. "Your dish was absolutely unique and you cooked each ingredient to perfection." said the burly chef from Paldea. "We would be honoured if you would teach us how you made such a delicious meal."
The loud cheered, but none cheered louder than the Louds. Lynn Sr. smiled as he shook both Siebold and Kofu's hands.
"I'd be more than happy to teach you what I know!" said the older Loud. Soon the remaining chef's also expressed interest in learning from the Loud Chef. After the spectators left the area, the Judges and other contestants moved towards one of the makeshift kitchens where Lynn Sr. showed them exactly what to do to make Lynnsagna. All the assembled chefs paid close attention to every detail as Lynn Sr. was helped by Rattata.
After teaching as much as he could, the assembled chefs all left with smiles on their faces as Lynn Sr. rejoined his family and May.
"Honey, you were amazing!" said Rita "I'm so proud of you two!" Lynn Sr. and Lincoln blushed at the matriarch's praise.
"It's a shame you guys didn't win," said Lori, "But I can't believe that everyone wanted to learn your recipe!"
"I know! I couldn't believe it!" said Lynn Sr. The older man then turned towards Lincoln and gave him a great big hug. "And I couldn't have done it without you, Sport!"
Lincoln smiled as he returned his father's hug. "I had a blast cooking with you, dad!" He then reached down to his belt and removed Rattata's Pokeball.
Handing the ball to his father, Lincoln continued to smile. "I had so much fun that I want to give you this."
Lynn Sr. looked at the ball in his hand as tears began to fill his eyes. "Are you sure, son? I don't want to separate you from one of your Pokemon."
"I'm positive, Dad." said Lincoln, "I know Rattata will be in great hands, and having him around will be a big help for you at home or at the Restaurant."
Lynn Sr brought his son back into a hug as the remaining Louds at home smiled and cheered the only men in their family.
After a few moments, the Louds and May headed back towards the Pokemon Center where Lynn Sr. would grab his bags before heading home. The older man kept a firm grip on the Pokeball his son had given him, glad to have finally repaired the relationship with his son.
Soon Lana, May, and Lincoln said goodbye to the Loud patriarch and as he stepped through the portal, the Louds back home promised to support May during her contest, while also trying to figure out what Lincoln's surprise was.
The white haired Loud said nothing but told them to keep an eye out during the Contest. After saying their goodbyes, our heroes headed back to their rooms to get a good night's sleep before the contest the next day.
That night, while Chompy and Pancham slept with their respective trainers, Lincoln lie awake for a bit as he thought about which Pokemon to use during his contest debut, completely unaware of the purple aura rising from the odd stone in his backpack.

A/N and with that another chapter of Pokemon Omega Loud comes to a close. Next chapter will see Lincoln and May competing against each other in the Slateport City Pokemon Contest. Who will win? Wait and see!
