Chapter 5: Welcome to UA!
Date: February 26, 2217
Location: UA High School, Musutafu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan
Monitor Room
It had been a whole year since they got stuck here, but that changed once they got their jobs as a teacher, assistants, and a glorified nurse. Quite to say being in a world where people had superpower isn't really weird for them, it was relatively tame compared to their world. Where their weird is much more weirder than this. The Mercs had been real busy throughout the past year, balancing between figuring out how the teleporter can teleport into other worlds, and living among this hero society. They had their Hero Licenses provided to them by Nezu, as he pulled the strings to fish out four hero licenses in to existence, they needed that so that if they were to use their "quirks" they won't thrown in jail, apparently if you use your powers without a license you get thrown into the slammers, even if used for good. The last thing they need is to get into trouble with authorities, especially if said authorities have superpowers, but they can take them on if that had happened. For now they are called to score the next hopefuls into getting into UA, As they lie and wait for the students to arrive, they wanted to talk about what they're doing for the past year. As some of the Mercs were more busy than the others.
Spy (aka Spyware) was doing a lot of hero work as an Underground Hero working with Eraserhead, where he also helps him at school, from the usual assisting to helping with the hero class. His "quirks" as his peers would like to call, is powerful, the ability to stay invisible for practically forever, and his on-demand disguise "quirk", though he had to some acting like he always did, he is a valuable asset when it comes to undercover missions, recon missions, and infiltration missions. He started working with Eraserhead once had a call from him at March of last year just after the end of that School Year. It started with usual surveillance monitoring villain networks, then gradually moved in to infiltrate these networks, thanks to his Disguise, he can just go in and act like he was one of them, though once shit goes down, but as soon he attacks it fades, thankfully it only happens towards the end of the operation. Hero activities isn't the only thing he did last year, as April was nearing, he goes to UA and help Eraserhead with his future hero lessons, and generally help him with the everything. A guy like his abilities can be good practice against villains who can disguise and turn invisible. Once April hits, he went with Eraserhead to surprise the class, on which Spy turns invisible and stays in the room while Aizawa was in a sleeping bag. After that chicanery, Aizawa led his students to do a Quirk Assessment Test, on which the class didn't do so good, what did he do? He straight up expelled the entire class, he explained that they needed to taste failure and death that comes in being a Hero, a statement Spy agreed, but he said he would re-enroll them. *
Wake up, Eat, Bathe, Hero work, School Work, Eat, Sleep, repeat, that was Spy's routine, but there were things that made those routines not repetitive. It was refreshing to be almost caught in his disguise, so he had to frame someone else. There was a student that fired rapid shots of questions at his face, A blonde student that can go through walls. They were a nice change of pace, but during their infiltration missions throughout the past year, they had been reading that "The King of the Criminal Underworld" has returned and are making preparations. They knew that the time of peace is coming to an end, they inform this to Nezu, and he was given a history lesson about this "All For One". Scary stuff, but it is inevitable, so they were sent on a mission to find where he was hiding, but above all else, they need to prepare for his return. *
He had also caught the attention of the HPSC, long story short they would like him to be their cleaner, he accepted, yet he had a feeling that he wasn't the first hero to do their dirty work. On which he had met this young boy with wings, his name was "Hawks" fitting name. Spy had a feeling he was being trained to be a spy and an assassin, he asked while in a secluded location, and he was right. Hawks told him about Lady Nagant, she used to the HPSC's cleaner, up until she snapped and killed her superior, and she's locked up in Tartarus. For Spy, he wasn't surprised that corrupt government entities still exists. Hawks was the replacement for Nagant, and Spyware is their new assassin. Hawks asked him for what he thinks of the position he was given, on which he was surprised that he was familiar, and has zero issues with killing. When asked why, Spy revealed that he used to be a mercenary, was hired by a company to fight either for RED or BLU. Then Spy offered Hawks, to be his replacement and take over any dirty work given to him by the HPSC, he doesn't want a boy to go through what this Lady Nagant went through a hopeful hero only to be used as a pawn, he wanted the boy focus on being a hero and break him out of the cage and might as well give him extra tips on espionage, Spy wouldn't want to waste his training. Taken a back from Spy's offer, he paused and thought for a bit, and accepted it.*
Very busy is word that doesn't really describe the Engineer's (aka "Texas Ranger") activities for the past year. After showing the blueprints of Gray's Robots, they were intrigued! Nezu assigned Engineer and Power Loader to work on the robots for use in the next year's practical exam, they started in March of last year after the end of that school year. First they started small, created Soldier Bots along with Heavy Bots to toughen the ground security, Power Loader suggested to upgrade the circuitry and their power souce cited it was weird these were powered by money. Second, they're going to build the maintenance robots, which consist of Engie Bots and modified Scout Bots now Janitor Bots. Third, Medic Bots in preparation for practical exams, and other events to come. Fourth, the Giant Bots, for use in next year's and the succeeding practical entrance exams. *
Speaking of which, upon their first meeting, him and Power Loader became instant friends! Despite Power Loader being a loner but with their similar age and interest in engineering, the Support Course would be very lively! Once April had arrived, Engie greeted the students with his guitar and once orientation of his students had finished he introduced himself and was sked about two things, His 11th PhD and what's underneath his glove. To his answer, he revealed his prosthetic: The Gunslinger! along with his 11th PhD, to which his students laughed with amusement! The school year was kinda mundane not to say he made every class interesting and engaging like the time he introduced the Engie Bot in class, and brought Medic with him to class from time to time. He would also get to know Snipe another hero teacher, they'd also become fast friends because Cowboys that's why. *
While going to a tech convention in Kyoto, he had met this girl with a Pink Dreads and what seemed to be a pair of crosshairs in here eyes, her name was Mei Hatsume, while very loud and straight to the point, she also had an interest in engineering at a young age! Which reminded Engie during his younger years, couldn't help as he saw a bit of himself in her. She was going to take the entrance exam for the support course in UA, much to her surprise Engie was a support teacher there! Needless to say Engie was bombarded with questions like 'You have 11 PhDs?', 'What's underneath your glove?', 'You look foreign', 'What can your goggles do?', he answered all of it, he bid here good luck and hopes to see her at UA.*
He went on a trip to I-Island, upon arrival he was marveled upon the structure of the island, because a whole damn island was moving!*
Heavy's (aka Iron Kurtain) activites through the last year was productive but not as bus as the other two. He had begun his assistant job working primarily with Midnight and Cementoss, as they were in the Arts and Literature, and helps Ectoplasm with Mathematics, but sometimes he would be called by Nezu to help the heroics class. Pretty boring compared to them, but boring is ok with Heavy. He would sometimes do hero work usual solo and if in a team Medic was not around for his "quirk" to work, so Engie built the canteens they used during the robot wars, so he can be Übered without Medic.
During his hero work he called in for a villain activity happening in Musutafu, a slime had taken a child hostage and is suffocating the kid, he went in with other pros , but all of them weren't able to even damage the slime villain. All hope seemed lost, then suddenly a kid jumped into the fray tried to pry out the other kid! Due to his recklessness and bravery he had able to buy time until All Might jumped in and saved them both! After the fight, he had helped the civilians and went to the kid to talk. The kid looked familiar as he had a messy green hair, similar to the one that pointed them to the bank months ago. He was shaky and looked downtrodden. The kid looked at him expecting another scolding. But instead of scolding the kid, he had praised him for doing what they could not and that he can be an excellent hero in the future!*
Medic (aka Gesundheit) was bored as hell during his first 2 months, and during those he had used an app to find doves and went to a wedding and stole doves, he wasn't caught thankfully. Him and Recovery Girl are quite an unlikely duo, they're in good terms with the similar medical backgrounds and seem to have a Grandma-Grandson type of relationship. She would hit him if had scared a student whether by accident or purposefully, and by some miracle Medic wasn't angry at all! It was a nice change of pace to have an elderly doctor to be your superior.
Recovery Girl had seen his boredom and knew that a talk about doctors and all that wasn't going to work, so she gave him a book about Quirks, to which it worked Medic wasn't bored and idling by and was genuinely reading and learning more about quirks!
They were all reminiscing the moments they've have witnessed for the past year. They were waiting for the others to arrive at the monitoring room to watch the students and grade them. "Gentlemen! How's your first year here in our world!" They turned back and saw Nezu greeting them. "I'd say silence means you all are having a good time yes?"
"Yea!"
"Jä, I learned more about zhe quirks!"
Heavy and Spy nodded
Nezu went to his chair which was a small chair in a big couch, as he sat his mind was clouded all year as if he had forgotten to ask a question. To which he brainstormed and remembered to ask specifically what was Engineer's 11th PhD and what's underneath his glove, "Mr. Conagher I've been meaning to ask you about your PhDs, on which you said "Ask for it" for the 11th one, may I know what that is?"
Engie, got up "Sir, I got a PhD..." and revealed The Gunslinger "...in Ass Kicking!"
"HAHAHAHHAHAHAH! I'M GLAD I ASKED HAHAHHAAHHA!" He laughed for 2 minutes straight
Minutes gone by and all of the teachers have arrived, minus Present Mic as he was the one announcing information to the students outside. The mercs noticed the last teacher to arrive, he looked odd. Sunken Eyes, Skeleton Figure, Blonde, and Tall. Strange man they thought, while Spy was connecting the dots, there was a rumor that All Might would be teaching in UA, and that All-Might fellow was muscular, blonde and a heroic smile, looking at his hair again and compared it to All-Might, he couldn't be mistaken, that skeleton man was All-Might! "Monsieur Nezu, that's him isn't he?" Spy whispers to Nezu.
"Who?"
"That skeleton man."
"Ah you figured it out, much to be expected for an expert spy and assassin of the HPSC, I'm surprised you went to them and offered to be Hawks' replacement, they didn't want you at first but they tested it, and you are much more capable of committing acts of violence in silence, never knew you could hide bodies in plain sight. " Nezu paused for a moment before he could ask him another one, "Why did you offer yourself?"
"He told me about this Lady Nagant, quite a hopeful fellow, but she was used to be their cleaner. He told me about his predicament, and I broke him out of the cage before he ends up in the same place as her. I don't want that kid to forcefully follow her path of a pawn, his wings should be free!"
Nezu smiled at his answer, Spy couldn't see it but he just took the burden for him, trait of a hero! "Everyone! Our potential students have arrived let's get observing!"
Izuku Midoriya couldn't believe it, he had stepped foot into UA! But his true goal was to get accepted into the hero course! It was his dream to be a hero for everyone to smile at the darkest of hours with him around just like his favorite hero: All-Might! Though it had seemed fate had shot him in the knees, he was diagnosed Quirkless at the age of 4 crushing his dreams into becoming a hero but still hoped. Once again, fate would shoot him again, but this time at this chest. Once his only friend Katsuki Bakugou or Kacchan as he would like to call him, had received his quirk: Explosion he had started mistreating him because he was quirkless and things went downhill as he had never made friends due to Kacchan's constant bullying and harassment. Despite all the abuse, he wouldn't tell anyone even his mother, was it because he was scared to tell anyone or still saw some good in Kacchan? He had his reasons not to, as he still looks up to him to this day.
Even when faced against tantalizing amount of bullying he had endured for 11 years, his love for heroes never withered away! He has made many Hero Journals to conduct extensive and in-depth look in each heroes in Japan. An unrelenting spirit and will he had!
It would be in April of last year that his life would change, after being attacked by a slime villain he was saved by All-Might! Star struck in silence with being saved by the Symbol of Peace himself and being face to face with his idol! As All-Might was about to leave, he latched on to his leg. There they would land on the rooftop, where to his shock All-Might was just a skeleton. He asked if a quirkless like himself can become a hero? To which his idol replied with the harsh truth. Left alone in the rooftop, his dreams were seemingly crushed by his own idol. Suddenly an explosion had went off! He went to the source of it and there was the slime villain again! He looked close and he had his friend hostage! His eyes looked scared and in need of help, everyone around him and even the heroes couldn't do anything.
It's as if his legs had the mind of its own! He had jumped into the fray and to pry out Kacchan! He threw his bag and other things to the slime villain, he had hit its eyes and started to pry out Kacchan, to which he was able to pry him out just enough to let him breathe. Then All-Might had appeared again! And this time he had defeated the villain for good!
After the incident he was scolded by other heroes, for being stupid and reckless! Then a rather tall foreign man approached him, expecting to get scolded again, he surprised that he told him that he did a good job and buying some time and that he can be a great hero! Empowered by his words he went home with a smile in his face, then All-Might had appeared and wanted to apologize for what he said. From then on he was trained under All-Might for 10 grueling months and once he had cleared the trash out of the beach, All-Might had given him his quirk: One for All!
Now, he had a quick encounter with Bakugou, after that he took a step forward, but in some weird way he tripped on himself. Luckily, a girl had stopped him from faceplanting. Inside the campus, he was in the auditorium for orientation purposes hosted by Present Mic himself! 1st part of the exam would be written, seems easy enough, 2nd is the practical exam, there he would face problems due to him receiving a quirk hours ago! Ah, a boy with glasses called him out, it would seemed that he was muttering again. Present Mic explained the Pointers and the points that they can gain, and was told to avoid the 0 Pointer.
The written exam was the easy part of the entrance exam, now he has to face his one of the many hurdles to face on becoming a hero, the practical exam. They were assigned in different Grounds, and he was headed to the bus to go to his assigned Ground, there the driver wasn't human, it was a robot, albeit in a form of one, it had a cowboy hat and greeted all of them! Now, arriving at the ground, his body filled with nervousness and negative thoughts. Oh looks like that boy with the glasses called him out again. To much his surprise he was also with the girl who had save him from faceplanting earlier!
The mercs and the teachers looked at the screens and Spy's attention turned to a screen where a green haired boy was on, there was no mistaking it! It was the boy who had helped them point the Bank and the one he had given a sermon about confidence! "I know that kid!", he had taken the attention of All-Might
"You do?"
"Yes, he had helped me point where the Bank was just last year."
"I see, Young Midoriya is a good kid."
"Indeed, yet he still looks so frightened." Spy looked at his sunken eyes, seeing decades worth of action as a hero, "Say, since when did you know the kid also?"
"Since, April of last year, he told he was going to apply for the hero course here, and I trained him for 10 months."
"I commend your effort on transforming him, he was built like a wet noodle the last time I saw him. By the way are you a new teacher? Names Henri Le Roux glad to meet you." Spy reaches his hand towards All-Might.
"Toshinori Yagi." he shook his hand
Nezu talked to Present Mic to open the gates after he explained what to do. "Gentlemen, it is time. Present Mic start the practical!"
'YES!'
At the other side, Engineer and Power Loader are very excited to see the new pointers in action and to see how will the students deal with them. Engineer had revamped Gray's design, it wouldn't need money as fuel anymore. 'Let's see what them babies can do.' Glancing at Power Loader, he gestured okay to him and both are grinning in anticipation."Higari, you might wanna start paying attention to those screens, it'll show ya what real robotscan do!", "Let's see about that, Dell. "
"THERE ARE NO COUNTDOWNS IN A REAL BATTLE GET OVER THERE!"
Midoriya looked back to see his fellow examinees are already running towards the fight. Upon reaching the Grounds, he ran around and already started seeing people destroy human looking robots. From what he had researched before, these robots are way different than the ones he had seen in the UA Sports Festivals. He saw this robot with big metal fists and started wrecking the fake city, and to much is surprise it had some personality "Captain Punch will kill you all! HA HA HA!", it went for him! "AHHHH!"
PEW!
"AAAAYADAH!" the robot got blown up! He looked for the person who had saved him. There he was, a very weird dude, "You should be careful Monsieur!"
"Thanks?", the weird dude left, looks like that robots was a 1 pointer, he ran further into the city he even saw more of these strange human looking bots. "OH, ta' gonna have to glue you back together... in HELL!" another big robot with a crown on its head along with a cannon, looks like its a 2 pointer. It loaded a cannon bomb? Into the Cannon and fired!
FLOOP!
BOOOOM!
"THAT WAS A HUGE EXPLOSION! IT MIGHT EVEN RIVAL KACCHAN'S!" Suddenly vines started creeping on the robot
"AYE?! TAAAAAH!"
ZAP! BOOOM!
It got ripped apart by the vines! "I AM NOT TRAPPED IN A CITY FULL OF SUPERHEROES YOU ARE TRAPPED IN A CITY WITH ME!", a robot with a captain's hat and a ROCKET LAUNCHER?! 'WHAT'S WITH THESE ROBOTS?' he thought.

"Oh, WAAAARRAAAAH!" BOOOM!, that boy with the glasses earlier had taken out that robot's legs! It would seem that this one is a 3 pointer. Looking at the timer, things are not looking good he hadn't scored a single point! 'What do I do, What do I do? All-Might's quirk hasn't activated yet!', Suddenly, a huge explosion
BOOOM!
Back at the monitor room, the teachers are watching many battles across the many Grounds. There was one student who had just been blowingup the robots like it was nothing! "HA, Look at that Dell, your robots are weak! I bet my robots will last longer than yours!"
"Oh really? Nezu is it time?"
Nezu looked at the timer, 5:15. "It's time. Mr. Conagher, if you please?"
"Okay, you gonna regret that bet Higari!"
Midnight, Nezu, and Snipe laughed at the friendly competition between Power Loader and Texas Ranger

That voice echoed as well as the announcement through the Grounds, Midoriya went near the epicenter of the explosion, on the way there were students who are running away from the epicenter. There he had reached near the epicenter, where we was met face to face with a Colossus Robot! He was wearing a Viking Helmet, and to top it all off, the rocket launcher was "GLOWING?!"
"LAST ONE ALIVE LOCK THE DOORS! I WILL EAT YOUR RIBS I WILL EAT THEM UP!"
Floop!

BOOOOOOOM!
"THAT ROBOT JUST DECIMATED AN ENTRIE BUILDING WITH ONE ROCKET!", "RUNNNNNNN!", "AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!", "IS HIS ROCKET LAUNCHER GLOWING? GAH! LET'S GET OUTTA HERE!", were just the many screams of terror he had heard
"HEY! GET OUT OF HERE THAT'S A 0 POINTER!" the boy with the glasses had called him to get out of the area. Midoriya was going to run away, up until "HELP!". He had heard someone calling for help, he scanned the area, oh no, it was that girl that saved him from faceplanting earlier! "COME ON MAN!". He wanted to run, but there was this feeling inside his heart and soul, it's as if the world had stopped moving, his focus was with the girl hopelessly trapped in the rubble along with the giant robot. It would have seemed that his mind and heart had split, his mind telling him to 'Get out!', but his heart screamed 'I NEED TO SAVE HER!'

Zap!
Power Overwhelming. A surge of power courses through his veins! It had felt that he had been granted the means to save a life. He dashed forward towards the robot! "HEY WHERE ARE YOU GOING?!", he had ignored him as he had one goal in mind, save the girl. He leaped forward, but this power, there was no mistaking it, it was One For All coursing through him! He had leaped a great height and prepared to punch the robot's head off!

He had done it! The robot was destroyed! "YES!", he looked down, "Oh no.", he started to fall, "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH", he contemplated whether to break his other arm to lessen the damage of the fall, but suddenly
SLAP!
Something broke his fall, "You're... okay!" the girl saved him! He looked down, for a moment, he was floating! "Release!", he landed safely, and then the pain started to come up! "Argh!"
Texas Ranger, was in shock, meanwhile Power Loader was celebrating! "HAHAHAHAHA! WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT DELL, THAT BOY DESTROYED IT WITH EASE! ABOUT THAT BEER YOU OWE ME NOW HUH? HAHAHAHAH!"
Texas Ranger grumbled, "That boy can still crush your robot like paper!"
Nezu laughed like a maniac when the conclusion of their bet. "But let's give Texas Ranger a bit of slack Power Loader, he had accomplished the desired results of reactions of the students when faced with the robots that looked human and villainous enough to leave a mark on them, I can safely say that these robots shall be staying for quite a while."
"I acknowledge that Principal Nezu, just a friendly competition between friends is all."
"I'd say 'Ah Youth!~' but were all middle-aged people so 'Ah Old Men!~' Ok that sounded really wrong and really bad out of context, glad Mic isn't here..."
The whole room grimaced from what Midnight said, with the exception of Nezu cackling. "Oh yes, I forgot, Mic end the exam.", "Got it!" , "Gesundheit, Recovery Girl activate the medic bots and treat the injured!", "Ja!" "Yes!".
All-Might looked at the screen with a proud feeling, 'You are on your way into being a hero... Young Midoriya."
Gesundheit went to his own Ground with some Medic Bots and separated with Recovery Girl and the other Medic Bots. "Herr Mic, may I use your mic?"
"Sure", he hands him the mic
"Ahem. Hello! Please leave zhe grounds now, zhe exam has finished! Any wounded students, please stay where you are either I, Recovery Girl or zhe Medic Bots will assist you, any health concerns just approach zhe Medic Bot! Zhank You!"
Gesundheit, drove a cart to reach students quickly, he would use his medi-gun on the injured students. For a while he had healed a lot of students then he reached this green-haired boy who looked like Heavy punched! Wait, he looks familiar, oh! "Und hello my little broccoli friend! MEIN GOTT LOOK AT YOU!"
"What?" The broccoli boy was slipping out of consciousness
"OH! I FORGOT TO HEAL YOU HAHA SILLY ME!" , he used his medi-gun on him his injuries disappeared in less than 10 seconds. "Zhere you go!"
"Woah!, I feel great! Hey, was that your quirk? Wait, you're the Combat Medic Hero: Gesundheit! Hold on! I know you we met at the bank! Last year, you were with the suited French guy, right? You work for UA now?"
"Ja! Zhank You and Good to see you mein broccoli child! Not just me, all of my friends work here too!"
"Really? You guys went out of your homes just to work here!"
"Ja, UA is zhe best!"
"Wait, was that your quirk?"
"Ja, it's called Medi-Ray! I use this support equipment to amplify it!"
"Cool! Hey doc can you please heal me?" a girl interjected
"OH I DIDN'T SEE YOU ZHERE errrr PINK CHEEKS!"
'PINK CHEEKS?' the pink cheeked girl thought, "Oh, I feel really good! Thanks Doctor!"
"You are welcome mein students! Get up and get out now!"
"YES! THANK YOU FOR YOUR KINDNESS!" both said in unison
"Becareful on zhe way home!" After clearing that Ground he wen to the other, Recovery Girl would knock some sense into him if he gets carried away too much.
The mercs went in the meeting room, as they were called there by Nezu. The meeting's purpose was to go through individual student and grade them, thankfully they would do that tomorrow, and gave them all a rest for now.
Engie and Power Loader was also checking the entrance exam for the support course. They were a lot of students that applied at the support courses on which both of them are real happy about it! Then he saw Mei Hatsume's exam paper he took it and started checking it. Needless to say he wasn't surprised, she got a very high score! "Never doubted you crazy girl, see you soon."
Higari looked at Dell, with a big smile on his face, "Hey Dell, you know that student?"
"Yeah, met this young one in a tech expo last year, and well she reminds me of me back when I was a kid."
"Well then, I'm looking forward to meet her next school year then!"
"Hahaha, good luck with that Higari."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"I don't wanna ruin the surprise man." they continued on checking the support course entrance exam.

After a very productive day of watching children getting beaten up by Gray's Robots, Engie was still working on the teleporter, he couldn't figure out exactly what caused the teleporter to suddenly make them teleport to another world. He thinks the key for them to get out or get back to this world, lies on the teleporter that malfunctioned in the first place, it was still at Scout's backyard and thankfully Pyro wasn't around when they got teleported, but he knows Pyro would solve the riddle eventually.

It would seem that days had gone by so quickly. They had watched through the footage of each student, score it, and put a verdict if they passed or not. Once that's done they need to record themselves announcing that either they passed or failed, that took 4 days to do, a simple letter would've suffice Engie said. Then after the school year, the mercs prepped for their lessons for the next school year, before enjoying their vacation.

Actual Author's Note: Hey whatdya look at that, we're in the main events of MHA now. Minimal nudging on the timeline will be nudged, no veering off the main path yet, most of the arcs will be the same as the anime, but it won't be the same since our mercs are there now (duh) and can do some killing/saving but for now they'll interact with the characters first. Notice the asterisks? They are marked as side-story potential, it started last chapter with the complications line from Spy. I can do them at a later time or you can do them if you want to, just DM me if you're interested.
