Set after season 3, Faith slayed angel with poison but fell through a sudden portal during her and Buffys rooftop fight, something Buffy managed to also do not long after her. Faith is now a little over a year older and much more calm and reserved than before. their roles reversed Buffy becomes a bounty Hunter in Al-Kufir as she discovers herself in ways she never had before.

Buffy and Faith had been back home for only half hour and it was already the latter half of the mid day, closer to 3 o'clock to be honest and yet Buffy was busy putting her new clothes away in some draws that Faith had made space for. Faith on the other hand had decided to sit down in the living room reading some unknown book that Buffy had never heard of before. Faith was drinking from a long cylindrical stone cup something she called Kinta, it was filled with essential proteins but was a syrupy thing that tasted like a mix between green tea and mint. she was relaxing with her feet on the large soft black sofa in her leather trousers and scaled bodace. Buffy had exited the room when she was finished and found herself looking over to Faith with a soft look in her eyes.

"Everythings packed away, what ya reading?" Buffy asked as she walked over to the stone fridge and decided to pour herself a cup of the exact same thing Faith was drinking. Faith replied softly in her usual gravelly tone of voice.

"The unabridged history of Kann'amit, it's the history of this continent and i travel alot so it's always good to brush up on the basics when your living in a strange land" Faith continued reading without looking up at Buffy. She found herself enjoying the drink quite abit, although Nuka cola was easily way better and tasted like a flavor grenade in a fluted bottle.

"You... are the chosen one, i was just the mistake and don't worry i'm long past over it B" Faith put the book down and sighed. "I'll get you home, you'll see everyone you love again... just don't force me to go with you ok". Faith chucked the closed book onto the coffee table with ease but it landed with a dull, loud thud. it was the punctuation to a point Buffy would of never thought Faith would make and the implications of her statement troubled her deeply.

"So Lehane... you ready to lose" she raised her eyebrows and gave her a cocky look ans attitude that she knew was surely deployed to goad Faith into agreeing to her silly little idea.

Faith chucked her book across the sofa and rose to meet her, not breaking eye contact with her once. "When you said we were taking a train ride to the next city to catch El Kinyo... why didn't you tell me there was a chance of the train getting hijacked? Buffy turned to Faith who was sitting by the trains window with her hand trained on her pistol.

"Well B, in all fairness i did say it happened once before when we were at the bounty office, Rhino was the one who said it wouldn't happen again" she looked over to the end of the carriage and spied Rhino waiting for her signal to strike one of the machine gun wielding duck demons. they looked like overly muscular humanoids but with dark brown feathers and mild yellow beaks, the eyes were creey black orbs at either side of their heads. there were 3 in the carriage patrolling and threatening to steal anything valuable they saw. Sina was in another carriage and probably already getting herself into trouble.

"B, i'm gonna send a signal to Rhino and then we'll strike, you take the dude on the far side I'll take the closest, shoot or stab to kill" Faith poked her head up and waited for the moment to strike. Buffy put her hand on her blade underneath her slender light brown leather jacket and prepared herself. Buffy was fully decked out in her cowboy gear and in her slaying element. she reckoned by the time Faith blew the middle ones brains out she would already had her duck demons head off before he pulled the trigger. Rhino was the weak link she was unsure about, simply because she'd never seen him in action before, but Faith trusted him and that was enough for her.

Faith sent the signal with a bird whistle, and Buffy was already out of the aged oaken train seats as Faith fired and blew the middle demons brains across a myriad of differently bodied passengers. she heard the screams start as she closed the gap between herself and the demon and unsheathed the blade which swung true and as the blade connected with his feathered neck, it glided straight through muscle and sinew with relative ease.

Before the demon could even register a reaction his head hit the deck and ice exploded out of the stump where it once stood, mixed with blood and the body fell aswell a few seconds later. Rhino on the other hand had used his two enormous green muscular hands to crush his duck demons head and if Buffy had been paying attention she would of puked at The ease of which the demons head buckled as his eye shot out of the sockets.

"Everyone shut ya mouths! screamin wont save ya damn useless asses!" Faith bellowed in a commanding tone as Buffy made her way other to the carriage door to secure the exit, Rhino winked back at her to say 'good thinking' and he did the same at his end. Faith on the other hand addressed the carriage.

"We're bounty hunters from Al-kufir, you're all in safe hands and we'll have you arriving all safe and sound in Chinja'Mal ready for the lunchtime rush" Faith moved to the centre of the carriage, people seemed to begin to calm down a little as she got into work mode and started bellowing orders.

"Rhino, go help Sina as she's two cars up, me and B will take the brunt of the highjackers in the last six cars!" Rhino acknowledged her order and wrenched the door open with a click and clack as they began the operation. Faith rushed towards Buffy and stood towards the left side of the door and she at her right.

"How's ya first proper day on the job twinkie?" Faith said cheekily as she took hold of the door handle and tested it. "exciting honey" and Buffy pulled out her C39 mauser with her left hand. "do we get paid for this?" Buffy asked and Faith swung open the door and didn't answer.

There were six fully armed demons as Faith rushed inside the busy coach and they were too busy mugging the passengers as Faith gunned down the first two silently with her enchanted gun and then Buffy put the fear of god into the entire carriage as she unloaded her Mauser and lighting shot straight and true with a thunderous roaring crack. every shot connected and the craziest thing was that 1 of the ducks had completly exploded over a few passenger sending blood flying everywhere. where as the other 3 had just fried and hit the deck like cooked chicken wings.

"Coast is clear, lets move"! Screamed Faith and Buffy followed her dutifully as she was still in shock at how powerful her new gun was and really damn loud too as she noticed some of the demons holding their ears in pain as she passed them. The next two coaches were clear but full of panicking demon men, women and children who made it hard to pass. Faith just threw them out the way when they refused to move so Buffy followed suit.

One clocked her in the jaw, some tiger demon with four arms but she kicked him in the dick and pistol whiped the idiot. he fell to the floor limp and she moved further down the train and heard gunshot. Both slayers got low to the ground and Faith bravely opened the door after a few seconds to see a large duck demon start brutally gunning down passengers.

Faith rushed in with Buffy in tow and fired a few shots that struck true but didn't fell the beast as he managed to close the gap between them instantly and pull his machine gun up, Buffy panicked and threw her blade straight and true, landing in the demons head and exploding into daggers of ice in all directions. Faith had already unsheathed her ax and swung it at another demon, it buried in his head and she used him as a demon shield before firing a barrage of silent magical bullets down the carriage and felling the other demons inn ecord time. Both slayers collected their weapons and continued on to the last train car.

"You ok B? one more to go" Faith worriedly grinned as she sheathed her Ax and slid the door open just a smidge to asess the last car before entering. "yh grand, you almost got filled full of led dumbass!" Buffy screamed the last part as Faith closed the door before the other carriage heard her. Faith shot her a pissed off look "magic enchantments dipshit, i can take most smaller caliber bullets now and if one gets inside me my healing is way faster than yours".

Faith flicked Buffys forhead in annoyance. Buffy realised she may have been over reacting as Faith grabbed onto her soft hand. "You need to stay alot safer than i do until your magical upgrades start taking effect ok!" Faith let her hand go and she opened the carriage door again and spied only 4 demons tormenting the passengers.

Faith gave Buffy the signal and they stormed the last carriage, a barrage of magical bullets and lightning strikes obliterated the suprised duck demons and the car erupted in cheers unlike the others, "everyone keep calm and stay seated until we reach the next stop!" Faith turned back towards Buffy and motioned for them to return and join the others. as they made it back to their own carriage Faith reassured every carriage that everything was 'in order' and she stopped just in front of their original seats and turned to Buffy.

"We have two carriages ahead of us and Rhinos probably on his way back anyway" and as she said that Rhino and Sina entered the carriage covered in demon blood. "Faith, carriages are clear ahead!" Rhino fist bumped the air and she returned the gesture.

Sina spoke up this time in an annoyed tone the moment she saw Buffy was unharmed and standing close to Faith "Drivers fine, we'll be entering Chinja'Mal in 7 minutes! We'll be expected to deal with the local sheriff and he'll pay us for the trouble" Sina dissapeared back into the next coach and Rhino went back to his original seat.

Buffy tapped Faith on the shoulder, "So we do get paid for fighting duck demons!" the dark slayer just cutely rolled her eyes and sat back down. "Well we don't do this for free B," Faith reminded her as she sat back down in her seat and looked around to make sure no one was looking.

Buffy sheathed her weapons and slid just a tad closer and entwined her fingers in Faiths and gripped her slightly larger hand lovingly. Faith looked down but didn't pull away, she tensed her hand and held her tighter. Faith spoke in a low and soft tone she hoped only they could hear.

"You ok B? her question was filled with concern after Buffys first train high jacking experience was so deadly and violent. Buffy on the other hand didn't care about that and was more annoyed that Faith had almost got shot. "don't die ok..." her look of concern melted Faiths heart a smidge.

"I wasn't planning on it B..." Faith voice trailed off and they sat in silence holding eachothers hand until they noticed the train pull into Chinga'Mal station. Faith found it difficult to hide her smile where as Buffy was as giddy as a school girl, they hid their affection in public well at Faiths behest.

Faith was a suprisingly private person and she didn't want anyone aware of the inner workings of her personal life, Buffy on the other hand decided it was fine as long as she was never cruel or dismissive to her while hiding 'it'. they had never even had any discussion on what 'it' is, all Faith had said was 'I prefer to keep my buisness private' and Buffy couldn't really disagree with her. But she certainly enjoyed the flirting that was always going on between the two, especially as it just reached a whole new, much more desirable level.

She also realised that this Faith who was over a whole year older now and had really matured and grown into her powers, she was also calmer and more centred which Buffy had to admit was a whole lot more sexy to look at than the wild mystery goth that haunted her dreams as of late.

Faith sighed as she had to let Buffys hand go as she rose to exit the steam train, Buffy remained bubbly though as she couldn't wait to see another town and meet all the new sights, sounds and people. Rhino had a large toothy grin as she was saying 'maybe she could lasso him, if only she knew how to lasso someone' while acting out the motions of what she thought it would take to wrangle a bounty mark up in a rope.

They all managed to exit the train moments later only to be greeted with the sheriff who looked suprisingly human, he was onky missing and ear and a nose, which was pretty good considering Faith had told Buffy before leaving for Chinga'Mal that the place was rougher than a maximum security prison. she had actually expected people would be missing limbs or walking around with shivs in them for some reason. her imagination was always a bit too wild when it came to things like this.

"Heard ya dealt with the Dodger Boys! ya must be Faith... we've heard alot bout ya bounty girl" the sheriff for some reason had a southern drawl to his accent. he motioned to his deputies who were a turtle man and a bird person who kind of resembled a woodpecker to go clean up the mess in the train. they moved past everyone as the train was entirely empty now apart from the dead bodies.

"Heard you four bounty hunters are looking for a mark in this here town, wishin ya the best in that" the sheriff handed them a medium sized bag of Rupees and Sina had appeared behind Faith and took the bag to begin counting the prize. Faith just let the bag go without any resistance and tipped her hat to the sheriff, "if ya have any info, it'll be much appreciated while we apprehend a demon called 'Chinta Monte' the bloody barber". the sheriff eyes went wide as he realised something.

"We actually have a fair in town today..." the sheriff seemed to turn cold as he rubbed his freshly shaven face nervously. Faiths eyes shot wide open "Where is he?" she looked around and noticed there was a large concentration of people walking into main street through the western style towns vastly complex system of shoddily constructed wooden buildings.

"He's a short stubby thing down at the end of main street, i got a shave from him this morning..." the poor mans face had broke out in a cold sweat. Buffy pulled out a crumpled up poster from her jacket pocket and uncrumpled it before shoving it in front of the sheriff face. his terrified gulp was audible "oh sweet snake god in the underpass it's him" the sheriff replied in a definetly 'freaked out kind of tone'.

Buffy smiled wide as she looked over to Faith who was already unsheathing her pistol. "You heard him guys, end of main street! anyone got a game plan?" Faith looked around and it was Sina who replied. "me and Faith can speed around the long way, the blonde wonder and Rhino can go straight down and follow the crowd, we can pincer him in" she cockily chuckled as Buffy gave her an annoyed look. Faith liked the pincer plan but it might give Buffy an advantage to win their bet and she didn't want her to win that, she wanted her one wish from the girl desperately.

"Rhino, take B down main street and get a visual confirmation but do not engage until we are in position, this guys aparently great with a straight edge". Rhino nodded as he walked past the sheriff and Buffy began to follow him but turned around at the last second.

"Don't forget about our bet" Buffy winked at her and ran off into the crowd to catch up with her team mate. Faith nodded wordlessly to Sina and they said goodbye to the poor sheriff who now had a train carriage to clear of dead gangsters and also a whole new trauma to get over from his 'too close' for comfort morning shave. they darted through the back alleys and slipped past people and creatures at inhuman speeds. Sina was happily matching Faiths pace as the shot through another twisted and winding road.

They got to the end of Main street after Five minutes and spied the mark Shaving a kalmari yak demon as fireworks were going off and a loud cacophony of songs were playing in the background. Faith noted that the butcher had an unnaturally steady hand, she wasn't sure she wouldn't slip herself shaving someone as the explosion of colors above them went off. hell the multicolored hot air ballons may have caused Faith to lose her concentration and they didn't make a damn sound Faith thought to herself as she spied Buffy atleast 600 metres down a packed main street.

"Rhino brought her a cotton candy! what is she a child?" Sina stressed out loud as Faith turned to meet her angry gaze.

"Ya got something to say about B" Faiths cold stare put the fear of god into the 7ft barbarian women but she played it off cool. "I know she's from your dimension, but i thought your people weren't so... What's that term you used 'happy go lucky'' and what's your bet about anyway?" Sina endured the cold glare the dark slayer was giving but felt relief as Faith went back to asessing the situation.

"Me and B are Slayers, i've told you before humans are weaker than us... we don't have to take so many things seriously Sina" Faith sheathed her pistol and kept her hand resting on her ax instead. "plus the bet is just a 'who gets him first' wins, kinda deal" Faith wasn't exactly lying but she weren't really truth'in either.

Sinas ears perked up. "And what do ya win?" Faith smiled and was shocked by her own lying prowess. "bragging rights Sina, you get to prove your the best" and this concept really intrigued Sina and her more barbarian centered sensibilities.

"room for one more?" and that's when Faith knew she had her hook, line and sinker. "long as ya don't mind me and B kicking ya ass, sure it'd be embarrasing if a tiny earthern blonde girl beat such a strong native women at her own job" Sina seemed to happily rise to the challenge as she Buffy get within 200 yards of the mark, hapoily munching on her blue cotton candy.

"So the first to cuff him or kill him wins, right?" Sina asked to just make sure she understood the rules perfectly. "yh but dead will lead to a 15 percent loss in reward, B said she's going for alive so... ya know lets make some cash muscle girl" Faith spied that Rhino was ready and Buffy was waving their way as to not look suspicous to anyone. Sina Sighed as she thought the girl was just an air headed idiot, she didn't notice her ice machetes pouch was open under her coat and her free hand was resting upon it.

"Sina, marks confirmed, first to nab him wins, but be careful as all information suggest this ones quite a fighter" and she sent the bird whistle signal and they all converged upon the barbers colorful but quite small stand.

The barber had just finished up and accepted payment as he felt a presence behind himself grow larger, he began stroping his straight edge and put on a disarming smile as he turned to greet the odd group of people bearing down upon him. "well now, i dont see a single beard in sight, but perhaps you've come because you've heard of my skin soothing tonics and tinctures"

The vertically challenged pig/human barber ducked Sinas fist expertly and sprung back up and into chin with a suprisingly powerful headbut and knocked her back where she grabbed her jaw in disbelief. Faith swung with her ax and the cheeky swine parried the blade with his straight edge and barely missed Faiths cheek with the blade edge. but Buffy had managed to sneak around the side and stab him in the leg with her cotton candy stick which elicited a wailing scream which momentarily defeaned those around him and he quickly took a pained knee to the dusty floor.

"You stabbed me ya dumb bitch!" the demon barber screamed as Sina flew towards him and took control of his wrist which held his open blade. she used all her strength and snapped the demons arm which made the screaming worse, Rhino had to turn around and shout to the crowd "Bounty in progress! nothing to see here!". the crowd listened and went about their buisness as if this was commonplace, only a few people decided to stop and keep watching out of what was probably just morbid curiosity.

Faith was annoyed as Sina quickly cuffed the demons hands and feet, as she didn't want this one using his remaining powerful leg to slam her with a headbutt once again. Faith turned to Buffy with a confused expression on her face "Really B, you stabbed him with your cotton candy stick" the girl just shrugged and responded nervously. "What? i spied an opening and it worked... plus you didn't get sliced up" She pointed to the pig demon being flung upside down over Sinas shoulders.

"I win little one, i am the best bounty hunter this day!" Sina gloated as she passed everyone and purposefully bashed into Buffy but was suprised when the girl didn't budge so easily. Sina didn't notice Faith clench her fists angrily at the little stunt she tried to pull but got distracted by Buffy picking up the shiny straight razor and inspecting it thoroughly.

"Huh, looks neat, didn't win our bet so i might as well take a cool shaving razor as compensation" she pocketed the thing and walked back over to Faith smiling. "Guess the bet still stand eh!" Buffy twitched her nose cutely and Faith quickly forgot her anger. Rhino had already left with Sina as Buffy put her hand on the dark slayers shoulder and whispered in her ear before passing her to follow the others. "let's get going beautiful, you can treat me to a day out at the fair".

Faith followed Buffy into the crowd and wrapped her arm around the girls shoulder, "we'll meet up with the others first, then i'll treat you to a day out twinkie" Faith pulled her in and quickly placed a kiss on her scalp before pulling away away and running after their team mates. The train had just pulled out of Chinga'mal station as the sun began to set and Buffy was barely keeping her eyes open as she sat down next to Faith and across the table from Rhino and Sina who were eating from a large box of fried somthing or over that Faith though kind of tasted like chicken but she wasn't entirely sure. Sina had spent the day revelling in her victory over the group and saying how they should be more competitive in the future but Rhino seemed to think that could lead to accidents happening and voted against it to Sinas dismay. Faith did tell her that if she thought it was safe to do so, they could have another friendly competition and it made the barbarians eyes light up with hope.

Buffy had managed at the fair to find pretty metal flowers to decorate her cowboy hat with and some colored dark green string she could install to make it possible to tie up and hang back upon her shoulder blades if she felt like it. Sina had handed her the share of her bounty reward and mocked her puny stature but was pleasently shocked when Buffy handed her a large black knuckle duster as a reward for rounding the mark up and being the best bounty hunter of the day. Sina had accepted the prize and made it clear she would have to visit Ruby the enchantress when they got home, she mentioned also that it fit wonderfully as she had continued from stall to stall.

Rhino had been happy to find some new leather boots in his size as he was a rather large gentleman of over 9ft and also a muscular green Rhino man so his options for clothes were usually limited since he made it clear that tailor made clothes cost a 'whole ton' to Buffy as she chowed down on some delicous noodles. she was sharing many things with Faith the whole day, everything they could find, drink or eat had to be sampled. she had felt as if she had tasted the world in an evening and now was finding it hard to keep her eyes open as she swayed in the oak colored train seat, swaying from side to side. Faith was startled as Buffy fell into her lap completly asleep but managed to maintain her composure as Sina chuckled at the sight.

"She works hard but burns out quick eh! what ya think big man?" Sina turned to Rhino as he was absoloutly demolishing his share of the food. "I like her, she has fun" the giant muscle bound monster stated as he drank from a large water canteen that Faith could smell was filled with something a little too strong to be called water".

Buffy moaned in her sleep and manouvered her feet up on the seat to get comfortable in Faiths lap. Sina gave Faith a look she ignored but barbarian decided to push her luck a bit. "I think we all wanna know what Faith thinks about our newesr member" Sina bit down on her meat and winked knowingly.

"She's a great addition to our team, i'm just suprised she hasn't managed to blow something up yet" Faiths hands mocked a small explosion and Rhino looked at them both and seemed worried. "Does she do that often? blow things up?" Rhino asked nervously as he regarded the sleeping slayer as maybe dangerous when he heard what Faith had to say next. "she once blew up an indestructible demon into pieces and blew up her school house to kill a giant snake demon, she small but exposively charged ya know"

Faith didn't know where to place her hands as Rhino gulped his food down and just reponded with "Damn..." as he shot the girls a worried look and he decided if there was explodables in the room with Buffy it might be best to walk the other way, which Faith agreed might actually be a great idea.

Faith settled on laying her hand on Buffys slender shoulder and staring out of the window at the scenery as the other two continued speaking about everything and anything. the plains and futuristic/retro stylemachines which passed her window had become common place for her now that she couldn't really picture the green fields of home quite as clearly anymore.

"Well i was thinking you should show Buffy round Al'kufir more and maybe take some time off, we're all really knackered and i wanna finish my home repairs before the sand worm season pops up again" Rhino seemed serious and Faith considered he was right and she should probably take some time off as well. they had been working overtime and she liked the idea of a 2 week break. she looked down to Buffy and found herself whispering to herself.

"Maybe she would like the beach in Kal'mahin?" and that's when her eyes shot up to the others just stared at her so blankly it began to freak her out. "what?" she choked out defensively.

Sina was the first to respond after a long silence, "since when do you care about what others like?". Sina looked confused as she continued speaking "You don't even visit the Saloon unless you're in full hunting mode, since when do you want to visit the beach?"

Faith was now wide eyed and had trouble trying to find a lie or a reason as to why she wanted to visit the beach. she didn't want to admit, 'hey, i've been crushing on this girl for like 2 years and i want her to be happy for no reason other then i do' how would they respond to that kind of admission. Sina was then joined by Rhino, "Yh, you normally just go home and read a book ya puchased from Kali'may" Rhino was also shocked at Faiths new behavior because to them Faith had always enjoyed her privacy and strict routine.

"She had some bad stuff happen before she popped through a portal like i did" she didn't want to mention she was half the cause of that 'bad stuff' but she also didn't want to admit that she actually just wanted to make her happy for no real reason other than she could. her routine and quiet behavior had become well known in town so she understood why her friends would think the way they did, but the 'chosen one' laying upon her lap always seemed to make things alot more complex for her... not that she minded anymore.

Rhino seemed to wholly accept the answer where as Sina just kept pushing. "But it's not like you... you, you are softer since she came!"
