Set after season 3, Faith slayed angel with poison but fell through a sudden portal during her and Buffys rooftop fight, something Buffy managed to also do not long after her. Faith is now a little over a year older and much more calm and reserved than before. their roles reversed Buffy becomes a bounty Hunter in Al-Kufir as she discovers herself in ways she never had before.

15. Chapter 15: Before the Demon hunts

Chapter 15: A small interlude before the demon hunts

Faith had been home only 5 minutes before Dawn was regaling her magical Father with how she got her first bounty and was giggling her little rupee bag in her face and all she could do was stand completly still, dumbfounded and silent. her internal monologue however was a storm of tumultuous emotions that were a violent mix of fear and worry with was something she knew wasn't showing on her face and yet her lover had instantly picked up on her worry and was quick to assuage her fears.

"I know how you feel but we had it completly under control, she is safe and a little too proud... oh Jean came up with a training idea you both might like" Buffy grinned but found herself having to hide her worried feelings from both Faith and Dawn because she really didn't know how they would both react to hearing Jeans little idea.

"What did he come up with? it couldn't be better thsn anything you two or Ruby is doing to make me tougher..." Dawn asked but also seemed to doubt him a little too critically but then again she didn't really know Jean that well so Buffy or Faith didn't take her words to heart.

Faith remained silent but listened, "Well, low tier bounties are kind of overflowing and maybe on the weekend we could have a take your daughter to work day and teach her the ropes of our favourite job... if you wanted too that is, ya don't have to if you don't wanna" Buffy found her voice trailing off but Dawn was obviously extremely excited by the idea and could barely contain herself with the idea Buffy had presented her with.

"It could work, Dawn will learn alot if we teach her directly in the field. we juet have to pick the right jobs and give her a chance... you will be heavily magically endowed before i ever let you fight one on one again! do you understsnd?" Faith liked the idea but she also seemed very weary of the idea but had also came to the realisation that Dawn would benefit every weekend from a bounty and learn more every week and then be able to utilise the new skills she learns on the hunt.

Spike would love a hunt and hell wern't you just telling me the new school needs a kindergarten teacher... she was a nun! it could work" Dawn obviously was taking liberties but Buffy did find the newly ensouled Drusilla to be quite the beacon of light and good feelings.

Spike had even confided in her how good she had been and also shockingly religious again like he hsd never known although she was alot older then him and he hadn't known fully how truly devout in christ she really was as they spent most of the time in their shared undeath enjoying it by painting the town red. Spike would adore the hunt and Dawn could learn so much from him but Drusilla would need to be vetted and monitored and the look that appeared in Faiths eyes showed that she silently agreed and shared the exact same sentiment as Buffy did concerning the new Drusilla.

"Dawn, we still need to monitor her but... Buffys tone got a little deeper than she wanted it to as she reminded Dawn, "He is a killer, don't make the same mistakes as me. be better" Dawn stopped in her tracks and had words she wanted to reply with about Angel but she knew Buffy had suffered enough for that and she was being unreasonable but also she didn't want to start a fight and decided she would learn from Faith and try her hardest to take the high ground and not lower herself by causing an argument.

It was so suprising that Faith was the calmer one as before it could be argued that Buffy filled that role, mind you more than a year alone can really change someone especially after losing everything when you originally had nothing at all to your name. Dawn had many private moments with Faith these days and her memories in many ways didn't match what she remembered frommthe monks creation of her life and form but that was fine since her magical father had grown up and got over alot of her problems.

Although Faith had made it clear she still had many problems personally which she considered to be completly catastrophic weaknesses and even had made Dawn aware that if it wasn't for Buffy appearing that she probably wouldn't have ever tried to change her ways so drastically as she had. she made it crystal clear that Buffy was the one who kept her calm and on the straight and narrow and that sometimes it was fine to be weak when the person you care for most is reaching out to you.
