Set after season 3, Faith slayed angel with poison but fell through a sudden portal during her and Buffys rooftop fight, something Buffy managed to also do not long after her. Faith is now a little over a year older and much more calm and reserved than before. their roles reversed Buffy becomes a bounty Hunter in Al-Kufir as she discovers herself in ways she never had before.

17. Chapter 17: Spikes first bounty hunt

Chapter 17: Spikes first bounty hunt

"When you told me we'd be hunting a twin headed racoon rapist, i didn't think we would end up on top of a mountain with demon temples that put Tibet to shame. although those little dome houses underneath us kind of look like nipples on a rottweiler, don't ya think?" Spike was looking over the edge nervously even though the walls were strong and high with little to no possibility of falling off. but still, they were all pretty high up.

Dawn was giddy with anticapation as she was currently on her way to taking the first steps in winning her bet with Spike or as she always seemed to call him William. her use of his original name had not gone unnoticed and was always speculated on by everyone but when she was asked why she used his actual english name she said; "well... it is his name. why shouldn't i use it if he never says anything about it to make me stop".

Dawn knew very well why she actually used his name and it was out of jealousy, a deep jealousy she had began to harbor over William and Drusillas long and complex sire bond. a bond that was at one point deeply sexual and for some reason now still strong even though they had no relationship to speak of other than their shared history.

Dawn had noticed Spikes deep depression and this bounty hunt was another in a long list of ways she was trying to cheer him up. "William, that's odd but... huh? yh they kinda do. aint that a little odd, the valley even looks like a lomg tail one side and a head on the other" Dawn was close to him and leaning up and over the stone wall, kicking her legs as she looked over and it was making Buffy nervous.

Buffy however was happy to see the vampire with his hand out and hovering just above her jacket, he was poised to wrench her back to solid ground if she went over and that gave her a small sense of safety. alot more than the bridge they had to cross which was made of demon spider siled and the walkway was made of aquamarine glass which in all honesty did not look safe even though she had seen over 40 monks cross it just moments ago and the thing didn't even budge an inch.

"Dawn, Spike... we have work to do, Ima Jini is in that temple and he is wanted dead so lets get a move on, paydays pretty big and i promised my girl a three tier cheese cake" Faith was pleased to see both Spike and Dawn take the job seriously and muster together quicker than she would of ever expected from the two.

Spike was the first to speak as the Winter winds managed to remain calm in the early morning light, "He's playing the old monk game aint he, all robed up among the masses of mutiracial demons... shouldn't be hard to find a ginger racoon with two heads and a massive scar across the bridge of his nose though" Spike gave a cocky grin which showed he was game night ready and Dawn wasn't going to let him get the first of ten she needed to win their private bet.

"It's first kill rules right, but we should only strike when Buffy or Faith give us the go ahead. we can't kill innocents and these guys are pacifists right?" Dawn asked because she simply forgot if they were innocent but as she looked at the Slayers for confirmation Faith gave her a nod and she beamed her brightest smile at the 20 year old Slayer whose heart had juet melted right there on the spot.

"We've got permission from the head priest to execute on sight, he doesn't need his flock getting brutalised tonight so yeah... we're doing a service and getting paid handsomly for it, plus i don't really like the idea of cuffing a rapist" Buffy was extremly anti pedophile and anti rapist, she never cared who knew it as innocence needed to be protected even if it was at the end of a gun barrel and she knew no one who would disagree with her.

Buffy was taking point and everyone followed her in a line as the bridge was narrow and thankfully very stable even when the wind picked up and gave them all a fright. but after getting halfway across the bridge they managed to all regain their nerves as they had caught up to some monks who were still piling into the temple for morning prayer.

The ancient looking temple was pristine and glistening in the low light of a barely emerging sun that although usually bled into the sky was now bleeding into the misty cloud coverage that was slowly rolling in with some hefty looking nimbus clouds in the background causing a bit of worry in the back of Faiths mind and she whispered her concerns to Buffy as they were almost off the bridge and back onto solid ground.

"Hey baby, eastern skies look stormy. we should get this done and get back down the mountain before mid day or we might have to open a portal outta here and cut the trip short" Faith wasn't happy sounding as Buffy had become accustomed to and as she faced the eastern expanse she could she Faiths suspicioms were more than warranted.

"Giant nimbus, yellow and purple lightning, and small fast moving shadows..." Buffy knew exactly what that meant as she stepped onto the solid but snowy mountain fromt he bridge and rummaged into her pocket for something she hadn't used in over a year.

Faith watched as she moved over to the walled area to the west and into the valley where the little nipple looking village was and chucked a jet black cube with inhuman strength just outside of the villages northern side and prayed that she wouldn't have to use chant the incantations needed to protect them all if those shadows decided to descend upon them, the temple and the valley below.

Faith was now rushing towards the temple and hurrying both Dawn and Spike along while trying her hardest not to show panic as she herself placed a similar cube near a statue by the temple door and kept it as hidden as she could so no curious person would take it and ruin their plan by an accident of curiosity.

"B! Quazi cube is placed, lets get this show on the road!" she felt a massive gust of wind assault them and almost knock the entire group to the ground as Faith was now adamant the storm was alive and would soon be here to bring ruin to everything it touched.

Buffy got stabil with inhuman accuaracy and rushed to the group and hurried them all into the temple and no one argued even though there were many grunts and moans as the wind had picked up and proved difficult for both Dawn and Spike who had nowhere near the strength the enhanced Slayers posessed.

The temple greeted them with a flurry of white robes with strangely shaped light blue flecks fluttering amidst the religious demons movements as they tried to find a spot to pray as the morning prayer ceremony was about to start soon and the head priest had already clocked the strange group he had hired hurry inside as the strom outside encroached upon them all.

Faith nodded to him and he signalled her that the bounty was to the left of them and thankfully Faith being over 6ft made it easy for her to spot him and his doubled headed form pretending to pray underneath a rather cool looking spider lady statue that just gave off leather mommy vibes and she had to shake thoughts out of her head of spider Buffy with a thick leather whip forcing her to submit.

Faith whispered, "to the left under the spider, he's praying first to kill gets a cookie now hunt!" Faith rushed both Spike and Dawn in that direction and motioned to Buffy an area to the back where she could hide and snipe him with her rifle in case something went wrong and she agreed wordlessly as she got into place as she sprung upon some very fine looking stone and hid behind the legs of another spider demon statue and lined up her shot as Faith scoped out any possible exits.

"Thank fuck, entrance is the only visible way in or out, he's trapped" Faith was by the entrance with her hand firmly placed on her 1911 as she was ready to shoot if the target managed to escape. she kept her eyes on the pair who were now rock paper scissoring for the kill not too far behind him as the chanting started and everyone began to do their weird demony prayers together, the echoes were almost defeaning and yet Dawn had managed to win and turned for the kill.

Dawn wasn't nervous as by now she had killed nearly 100 demons, yeah only 17 of them were humanoid and most weak vamps but as she neared her mark an idea for her silent stealth kill entered her kind as she holstered her beautiful black silver shotgun on her hip and switched her Threaded cane from her left to right hand and wordlessly commanded the whip blade to come forth as she was now directly behind him by 5ft.

All the monks had their heads down and even the Bounty was fully engrossed in his imaginary prayers to the point the only ones watching everything unfold were the group and the head priest and Dawn swung the whip blade twice above her head and sprung forward as the electrified blade connected and silently tore the bountys head from his shoulders and then a second head fell to the floor with the first.

Dawn reformed the cane mentally and motioned for Spike to come over as she began to chant in a low tone and the bounties body began to turn into a puddle of red colored discharge slowly but surely. Spike placed a large vial on the mirror like marble stone floor and Dawns chanting which was quiet but powerful was forcing the liquid to flow into the vial and fill it up in its entirety before the vampire could out a cork in it and pick it back up and place it in his leather jackets deep pocket.

Only 40 seconds had passed and the monks had remained deep in chant as Dawn grasped her forhead as the magic was still too much for her to handle and she kept reinforcing the idea that all she needed was more practice and her head wouldn't hurt anymore just like her Slayer parents. Although she was secretly scared that she had no real talent for demon fighting or conjuring magic, it was something she hadn't quite vocalised to anyone yet but she felt William understood her better than anyone.

Spike motioned a thumb up to the slayers and then the priest who was sweating bullets the entire time hut could now manage a sigh of relief as the bounty hunters had so expertly done their jib the entire clergy hadn't even noticed a brutal double beheading right in front of them. He continued to chant alone with his religous folk as Spike moved closer to Dawn and placed an understanding hand on her back and whispered to her so calmly and soft that no ine else could hear them.

"Vamp ritual magic always fries my brain, kinda why i don't do it much. but hey soon you'll be as strong as those two over there, just have a little... well i was gonna say Faith but it's weird when your parent literally has the name Faith... believe in yourself might be better sounding" Spike couldn't help but crack a smile as Dawn gave him a cute but annoyed look that said to him she was gonna be ok.

Dawn shook her head trying to clear it but it didn't work so well as she fell forward trying to right herself and was soon held up by a worried vampire who was now carrying her bridal style back towards the doors entrance as the chanting became more melodic and focused all around them.

"Thank you William, magic makes me woozy. shame i suck ass at it eh!" Dawn tried to shake her head again and was now blinking like crazy trying to right her vision as the magic energy she had used left her weary after most uses due to the fact her body wasn't used to channeling such power. her body might be an impossinly deep reservoir of constantly growing magical energy but until she mastered using it her vast power would not be tapped into in the slightesr and it was something Ruby constanly reminded her of.

Spike sighed as he looked down at her and knew she was beating herself up for no reason, "Hey, stop kicking ya'self about nothing, you're easily a better witch than red... just don't tell her i said that or she'll flay me. she's crazy when magics involved" Spike had once tried to help her with a spell and she had lectured him for almost ten minutes last week as Ruby walked in the room and defended him as he was right and Willow despised the idea that a vampire knew more about something magical than she did.

"Yeah Reds kinda nuts when magics mentioned, she hates it that Faith and Buffy are now master witches and she still has trouble focusing and levitating objects still" Dawn let out a weak smile as they neared the Slayers and both had now holstered their weapons and were greeting them both with words of encouragement that Dawn had not only silently killed their target but also magically contained him with a basic spell she only had 12 hours to learn.

Buffy took Dawn from Spike and help her like a worried mother and whispered in her ear. "That's my little Dawn, 12 hours and you perfected a spell that took me weeks. you and Faith got the gift, aint no way you get your magic from me dummy" Buffy squeezed her a little too tight and caused the poor girl to groan suddenly in discomfort.

Buffy quickly realised she had let out just a little bit too much strength and spent a good minute helping her stand and helping her focus to dispel the mind fog that she herself used to be so accustomed to when she had first began learning the magical arts. Faith was currently warning Spike about what was coming as Dawn was finally gaining her equilibrium once again.

"We got a Vahki Sturm coming in from the east, temple might be fine but me and B got a plan so... how goods your aim punk boy?" Faith was directing him to the temple doors and they both exited as the other two stayed inside so Spike could see the incoming storm that was now maybe 2 or 3 miles away and closing in with reckless abandon. Spikes face was completly emotionless and unfazed while the Stormed growled in muted tones that rang all around them.

"So... i'm more of a boxer but i know how to shoot, we defending the temple or running home?" Spike turned to the taller women with an emotionless gaze that threw her off for a moment until she realised the puno rocker was just too stunned to react properly as would anyone be when the multi colored lightning that encircled the giant death nimbus or varying blacks and greys bore down upon them with a violent feeling and extremly oppresive force.

"You don't breath, we do and they sense that. our Quazi cubes will keep a small but powerful barrier about us but you need to stay outside it with my silenced 1911... you'll rack up alot of kills as they divebomb our forcefield" Faith handed him the gun and reminded him it was infinite so there was no need to reload just fire as quickly as he could while they stayed underneath the forcefield and Buffy would need to constantly meditate to keep the barrier going strong.

"So you and Dawn will do what exactly stay in the forcefield and... can you fire at the demons or is this a more you need protecting gig cause surely you've got a breathless spell or an invisibility spell... or something" Spike gave Faith a worried look as Dawn and Buffy joined them and grabbed hold of the Quazi cube and placed it dead centre of the mountain top courtyard and began chanting as Dawn prepped her shotgun and took a knee not far from her mother whilst aiming heavenward as the clouds were soon to descend.

"It is a one way barrier english boy! you're basically our invisible peroxide blonde sniper... oh if you just sit with your back against the wall over there and aim a little above us you'll get the best vantage point... should i magic you some infra red vision, lasts 20 minutes and by then the storm will be over, these fuckers move fast" Faith offered and he took her up on the offer as he heard the harrowing death screams of the ever increasing danger that wss to come.

"Right B's gonna chant and the cube she chucked into the valley should protect the village but we gotta gun down as many as we can or i'm switching in and then we're a gun short!" Faith was now also kneeled down by Buffy and her red rifle was poised to fire and she was glad for the first time she had a rifle that was more magical fire spread than Buffys ungodly precise lightning strike.

Spike was getting used to his new infra red vision and was hapoy with the results as he could see the 11ft pteradactyl looking eyeless demons in an explosion of warm colors that would make his rapid fired shots alot easier to knock off. a purple forcefield covered the girls and the entire valley was also shining a light purple as the light could be seen behind them as Buffy entered her conjuring trance and suddenly the creatures descended.

Spike was scared as he opened fire that the pistol he had only seen Faith use once would be top weak because lasers didn't seem to be as tough as homegrown american lead tipped bullets but was pleasently suprised that the gun was tearing holes into the beasts who descended upon the sturdy magical forcefield.

The black-grey creatures divebombed and clawed the field only to be repelled or obliterated instantly by Dawns destructive holy shotgun and Faiths underhand loading rifle acted more as a widespread lava spewing shotgun thaf shouldn't be able to let the magic fly as quickly as it did but hsr inhuman speed put even his to shame as he couldn't even see her movements, Faith was a blur.

He aimed out past the wall and decided to get some longer shots off as they had the close range absoloutly under control, even Dawn who was so much slower was still staying steady and tearing through these winged beast quicker than a machine gun though a hen house filled to the brim would be left desolate after she tore through it. Dawn was barely as strong as a fully grown man in his prime but her training had allowed her to keep up very well and Spike had noticed how hard she was trying to prove her worth to everyone even though he believed personally she didn't really have too.

"Ima wa nie kannnn farssssooo" Buffy was still chanting and in a zen like state but you could see her brow sometimes furrow and the sweat pour forth from every pore as she was obviously having trouble as Faith and Dawn were keeping the beasts at bay.

"They'll be through in 7 minutes, storms alive and they come and go quick! like locusts! Spike keep concentrating you're fire further afield, it's helping!" Faith finished screaming her words and somehow managed to speed up even faster than before to where her magical shotgun like rifle spread seemed to give the illusion of a torrent of perpetual lava bleeding into the sky and the white light of Dawns black silver shotgun became a death ray from some 50's sci fi.

Spike had been thanful for his vampire speed and strength as the 1911 shot perfect and true with such speed and precision he felt like she should be given the silent enchanted pistol some pew pew sound effects but remained silent as he knew the beasts obviously worked on every other sense that didn't involve vision and he ciuld only outflank them because he was dead and silent. he didn't really feel like getting swept up by one of those filthy beasts whose screamed pierced the sky like thunder in the night.

"Dawn keep up your speed and don't stop firing! the storm will let up soon! fuck knows whose gonna clean up the limbs and wings though!" Faith joked as she noticed the storms heavy winds were begining to fade away and the beastly flying demons were close to finally thinning out as many now just flew past and over them in an obvious act of self preservation as in a short five to 7 minutes over 80 were butchered by Faith and eviscerated by Dawn was atleast 50 minimum.

Spike was feeling pride as he hated using handguns but managed to snipe with the silent beams atleast a good 60 odd and had managed to disrupt the constant stream of flying death thwt had descended upon them. althougn tragedy was about to occur as they heard the temple doors slowly open.

Spike noticed before the Darker taller Slayer had and was already half way across the mountain top courtyard firing randomly into the thinned swarm. he used his vampire speed and strength to avoid the barrier by springing over it directly flying above the three young women and barely avoiddd the hungry demons talons. he hit the floor and sprang off the stone without a single breath and ruggy tackled the priest whose face was a picture of fear and confusion as the peroxide blonde slammed him to the cold glass marble floor.

"CLOSE THE TEMPLE DOORS! DEMON SWARM!" Spike screamed in his deep english accent and the priest hsdn't managed to fully open the doors at all but listened as the saw him atop their high priest and then looked outside to spy the violent scenes unfold before them and before they managed to get the doors fully closed the vamoire was already on his feet and slipped out the temple and began firing once again as the petrified demon cultists simply did as they were told.

The poor head priest was holding onto his back and complaining about how that strange man had aparently broken his back and how cruel he was until a few other priests urged him to be silent as they opened some hidden panels on the wall and could how see the horrors of what the cruel blonde man was helping protect them from and the sights scared the cultists deep into their cores.

"Ok... well i guess we should thank them if they survive, Banma! lock the doors and Kinmaq keep watch!" the head priest screamed his orders and they were adhered to as the clergy were in full panic mode and the high priest was about to have his work cut out for him in calming these idiots down.

Spike was behind a statue and firing into the few remaining demons as he could see the morning light break through the fast moving clouds in front of them all and he knew soon it would all be over. some final demonic bird screams signaled the end as a beautiful blue light over came them and the demon storm was now moving away from them and the skies they were firing into were now perfectly clear and yet no one stopled firing for a few moments.

"Hold fire! dangers over! give B a few moments whilst i check the village below" Faith screams her orders and they all stopped firing as she ran to the western wall and jumped upon it as the storm was slowly moving over the cold valley but the forcefield had managed to cover the entirety of the small riverside hamlet thanks to Buffys quick planning.

Buffys concentration broke and the barrier faded instantly and Faith had sensed the breaking of her magical connection before it managed to sever and she was already behind her fiance and cradling her lovingly in her strong Slayer arms before the girl could fall back onto the cold hard white courtyard stones.

"Dawn if you have the energy use that rejuvenation spell i taught you yesterday, Ya mums kinda sapped right now!" Faiths command forced Dawn to leap into action and she pictured the words in her mind and spoke them silently with an extreme focus she had never experienced before.

"Spike knock on the temple door and reassure the cultists the danger is averted and the small hamlet downstream is also safe" Faith held Buffu tight as she twitched wearily and could barelyopen her eyes without closing them again, She realised maybe she should have conjured the barrier instead. she would have been groggy and maybe a little kranky afterwards but she hated, no despised! seeing her soul mate in such a state.

Dawn had finished conjuring her spell wordlessly and placed her thumb and forefinger upon the blondes forehead and her shining hand lost its suddenly stored light and the beams of energy flowed hastily into Buffys forehead and she went still for a moment and then her breathing steadied and she was now asleep and out cold as Dawn waited for a look of approval from her Father figure Faith, who smiled softly and kissed Buffys scalp.

The blondes cowboy had had fallen off her head and now was laying next to them both on the floor and as Faith looked down at it she realised they still had so much training to do. it had only been a month and a half and this was the first time in two years she had Seen her blonde muse so weak and although they had excelled in leaps and bounds in such a short time. Faith felt fear grip her soul as she realised if this storm could still knock them down with only a small amount of used intermediate channeling magic, how could they fare againsts a well known and extremly feared god.

"Hey Faith, i know fhat look you know... you're scared we aren't strong enough arent you?" Dawn was sure she was right but couldn't help the end of her sentence sounding like a question rather than a statement.

"What... what makes you say that?" Faith uncharacteristically stuttered and it felt strange to feel herself act so strangely as it was rare that anyone other than her loving companion would ever be able to read her thoughts so perfectly and it didn't feel natural to her at all.

Dawn sighed, "You're both my mothers... i know how you feel, what you think, you may have chosen to be the father and she my mother but i was bore from both your blood... just don't forget that i actually love you both ok, our situation is strange but i will make you proud of me, even if i have to kill that god myself, i promise" Dawn stood up and picked up Buffys cowboys hat and held it in her hands for a moment as she ignored Spikes knockind and screaming for the cultists to open up the temple doors.

"What we got? 11 months 10 and a half? we should tell Ruby we need a more certsin date cause i got a month and a half training and technically two months of enchantments and i feel a lot stronger, but William knows i'm not Slayer ready yet..." Dawn kneeled down next to Buffy and placed the hat on her her with a loving care and a deep emotion running behind her eyes.

"I'm scared that after the summer holidays, schools gonna take up precious training time..." Dawn admitted as Faith held a hand out to her cheek as she held Buffy close and tried to soothe her daughter simaltaneously.

"Dawnie... you're jot skipping school dumbass! B slayed and went to school but now we got magic and caffeine in cans so you're days are gon get a lot longer dummy!" Faith grinned cheekily and Dawn rolled her eyes in an obviously anniyed way but leaned into the warm feeling of her parents touch.

"I'm moving back to Al-Kufir after Glorificus is dealt with anyway. why would i need school, we own a school, you're an art teacher! surely i can skip Sunnydale forever... hey maybe kidnap William too, he was helpful today" Dawn noticed the look Faith gave her and she knew what Faith was about to say but remained silent anyway.

"Stop nursing that crush, he's ancient and got way too much baggage for you or moet people to deal with. plus you just like older english men, it'll pass" Faith was obviously trying to save Dawn the pain of having an older vampire love interest like her own mother Buffy once did and admits it was her stupidest mistake. Although Dawn just waved it off as she stood up and took in a deep breath.

"Yeah, i like older english poets and you are a sucker for a firecracker blonde who can bench press a firetruck without breaking a sweat... crosses we bear eh!" Dawn turned to hear the temple doors swing open and Spike was finally done shouting as the clergy all exited the temple to inspect the damage whilst Buffy began to stir in Faiths loving arms.

"Hey baby, wake up we gotta kick Dawns ass apparently" The wavy haired brunette joked as Buffy opened her eyes and smiled as she awoke to her favourite persons face looking down on her as the light began to shine in the sky from her little impromtu nap.

Buffys hand rose and her fingers ran through Faiths hair, "Yh i died and went to heaven. three Faiths might be a little overkill though, lucky me!" Buffy giggled as it was obvious her vision was blurry and she hadn't fully awoken yet but it was good to know her heaven was three Faiths above her and also that Buffy definetly had some fantasies she was unaware off but might be able to make work magically.

Dawn rolled her eyes again and spoke her mind "Man even exhausted and magically revived she is horny as all hell for you! this muet be how kids feel when they watch their parents get too flirty! yuck!" Dawn fake gagged and Faith flipped her the bird as Buffy pulled Faith close and stole a deep and passionate kiss from the red ribbon clad brunette who loved to see her daughter shy away from her parents macking on eachother just to annoy the young girl as an act of rebellion.

The morning had just begun and they had to wait for Buffy to recover before scaling the mountain, yeah they could summon a portal to anywhere, but the whole point of limiting their portal use to emergencies was to keep them strong and coimbing up and down a mountain was always great cardio. soon as the golden haired Slayer recovered they would be cashing in their bounty and riding the train home to enjoy a saturday evening with family and friends.

Faith couldn't wait to go home as she was having Ruby over for dinner at 7 and their small family could do with some alone time together as Ruby was like a mother and sister she never had and they only spent magical training sessions together for the last few weeks as the powerful enchantress had been so busy with her work they had barely seen eachother.

But tonight was family night and since they weren't far from home it wouldn't be much of a rush to cook, set up the table and clean up just a little in the reverse of that order so she could impress Ruby with her skills and home life balance before enjoying an evening together as a family for once.

Buffy was sleeping in bed for the last three hours as even though they had managed to get her down the mountain and onto the train, most of their journey was spent trying to keep her upright and awake until they got home and Faifh could get her into bed where she would be warm and safe to recover in silence from her magical fatigue.

7 o'clock was fast approaching and Dawn was reading a magical tome quietly on the sofa as Faith had finished her cooking almost and had set the table for all 4 of them and were now just waiting on Ruby to arrive before she could go and check on Buffy again and decide wether she should join them or just sleep for the rest of the night.

Dawn groaned as her head had began to hurt from all the reading and she had decided it was best that she place a bookmark upon the book and lay it down upon the coffee table and have a slight walk about before she ate dinner since Spike was back in Sunnydale with Drusilla right now and it was annoying the young girl to no end.

Faith knew she was angered by the way Spike had so haphazardly ditched everyone to help Drusilla find some school supplies she wished to add to her class as she had really taken to her new role with all the bells and whistles you would expect from a saint and not a once mad vampire seeress who had done things most couldn't even fathom and most of her previous actions had been macabre to say the least.
