Welcome one and all to a new chapter of Pokemon SVTA where today, the gang finally make it to Levincia city where Nemona prepares to challenge the Gym Leader of Levincia but notice that the Gym Leader is out for the moment leaving the gang to partake in the city's Contest Tournament similar to battles of Hoenn and Sinnoh with that year's theme revolving around masquerades and costumes but unbeknownst to Ash, 3 of his companions and a rival are actually in this tournament too. What will happen next? Only one way to find out.
One other thing to note and consider this a sneak peek to future content is that I consider this episode to be the sort of near the end of what I say is 'Season 1' of the story with a unique prologue that will set up the beginning of 'season 2' which will be called under its TBA title of 'The Bygone Days' which relates to the past, present and future themes of Scarlet and Violet and lots of story stuff that will focus on the 'past' with the story of the Teal Mask and other stories I have planned for the season and future seasons (there would be 4 seasons in total) as well as any stuff relating to new Pokemon content such as Legends ZA when we learn more about it in the future.
There are about 5-6 episodes left in this 'season' along with any side stories I need to do but thankfully, the story won't end there and move on to another story, it will be contained into the same story. For now, let's enjoy this episode.
Cover Story 59: Ingo and Emmet Lost to Time 4: Cooperation 1.5
Last time, Emmet and Cynthia went to Jubilife City in search of clues of Ingo's whereabouts and meet up with the Jubilife Mayor, Professor Rowan and photographer Perrin, a descendant of the Diamond Clan Leader Adaman who provides insight onto the Galaxy Team and a family heirloom of the Adamant Crystal and so they head to Celestic Town for more information. Meanwhile in the past, Ingo arrives to Jubilife Village where he joins the Galaxy Team in hopes of remembering more about his past and is assigned to the Crimson Mirelands in order to get adjusted and learn more about the Pokemon teaming up with a girl named Akari (an ancestor of Dawn) and Satori (an Ancestor of Ash).
We see Ingo, Satori and Akari on a carriage of sorts with Rapidash providing transportation and alongside them is Professor Laventon from the Galar Region who is there to document the Pokemon. Satori asks Ingo if he remembers his home and job which Akari scolds Satori for insisting on knowing so quickly but Ingo says it's fine. Ingo says that all he remembers was a bright city he called home, a brother who stood beside him and his other Pokemon with him before falling out of the sky and reuniting with his Chandelure.
Ingo, wanting to provide more of a lively conversation asks Satori, Laventon and Akari what they are like, and Satori admits to being a bit of a wild child by most in the village to which Akari bluntly agrees but Ingo scolds her for that. Akari does mention something interesting, Satori was one of the first individuals to bond with a Pokemon that being his Pikachu who he saved from falling down a cliff. Satori talks about how left out by many other of the village kids aside from Akari, Shinjo and his traveling friend Volo but one day, Satori was told to by some bigger bullies to through the Jubilife Forest and last 30 minutes in there which Satori took as a challenge to be part of the friend group.
But as Akari points out, they were just trying to drive away Satori. He felt alone in that forest until noticing a Pikachu injured, he tried to go to him, but it was aggressive but when Pikachu was about to fall from a cliff, Satori hugged him, and both fell into the river. Passing by were Adaman who was on his way to the village when he found them and saved them and while they warmed up, Satori got a chance to learn about Pikachu and to Adaman's surprise, Satori wasn't scared of Pikachu. Satori's been told to stay away from Pokemon due to how unpredictable Pokemon are, but he wasn't scared because he can see through a Pokemon and know that they aren't heartless, they're just like us.
Satori helps Pikachu's leg injury, and they start to bond over their interest of adventure and came to ahead when Pikachu decided to stay with Satori. They arrived back at the village with the bullies not expecting Satori to come back and Akari could remember seeing Satori's mother Hana worry over him, but Satori kept that smile, he was confronted by Kamado and Cyllene over the Pikachu stating that Pokemon could be nothing but trouble but Adaman came to Satori's defense saying that while Pokemon can be unpredictable and dangerous, if one takes the courage to stand up to them, they can find that Pokemon are just like people and that if Satori can see it, then so can everyone else especially since Pikachu's not hurting anyone.
It was then Satori made the suggestion of joining the Galaxy Team and offers an idea, Pokemon research, to research Pokemon and learn more about them in hopes of people and Pokemon getting along. Despite Cyllene's stoic appearance, she actually likes Satori's spirit, but Kamado remained unconvinced at first but seeing how he wants to build relations to both the Diamond and Pearl clans and notes how their Survey Corps maybe defenseless, Kamado reluctantly accepts and awards Satori the spot as part of the Survey Corps, he'll be sending a letter to a Professor from outside Hisui in order to help with this research.
Ingo is impressed with this story with Satori making an impression on the village which influenced Akari to learn more about the Survey Corps and join alongside Shinjo and truly become two of Satori's closest friends and without that opportunity, she wouldn't have met Piplup and Cyndaquil who she adores. Laventon smiles admitting the wonders of Pokemon but also admitting towards how some don't trust Pokemon but knowing Satori's courage, he wants to work hard to document these Pokemon so more people can learn about Pokemon and how they are like.
The gang arrive to the swampy Crimson Mirelands where Ingo's first task begins.

Prologue:
Back at Naranja Academy, Clavell was handling some things before heading over to Uva Academy such as paperwork. Just this morning however, he received mail about a very important trip as Clavell walks to the teacher's lounge to see Jacq handling some paperwork as he turns to see his boss.
"Oh hey Mr. Clavell, I was just getting these papers done." Jacq says as Clavell notices on Jacq's desk were 3 Meowth's of varying origins from a regular Kantonian one, an Alolan one and a Galarian one with various toys as Clavell looks on in suspicion.
"Uh huh, anyway, I came by to give some good news. We finally got the conferences down to the date of 6 days and so I'll be working on getting these messages out to the students and parents." Clavell says as Jacq nods.
"I'll be curious as to what our students planned this year working together, we had plenty last year." Jacq says as he turns to Salvatore, "Didn't one of your students build a float last year Salvatore?" Jacq asks as Salvatore nods.
"I didn't think Auron would do it but somehow, he built a giant float of a Seedot. I'm not sure why to be honest but I'm not complaining." Salvatore said as Jacq notices a letter in Clavell's hands.
"Hmm, what's that letter there?" Jacq asks as Clavell remembers.
"Oh yes, that's the other reason I'm here, to give you and Raifort respective letters from the La Primera herself." Clavell says as Raifort and Jacq perked up at this announcement as Clavell handed them letters and they open it up.
"Coupons to Quaxwell's stylish salon?" Raifort asks as Clavell panics and switches letters.
"Sorry, that's for my daughter's birthday tomorrow." Clavell says as Jacq and Raifort read their respective letters.
"Dear Jacq. If you are reading this, then I'm happy to announce that the following students of Ash Ketchum, Nemona Banderas, Arven Regalo, Penny Flores, Sarah Rochefort, Dean Stark and Verde Moreno (with her aid Dux Torben) have been cordially invited to this year's trip to the Kitakami Region for an experience of fun, history, learning of the Region's culture and various tasks and assignments given to the different students. In-addition, your students will cooperate from students from the Paldean School systems and our sister schools including Kitakami's Momo Academy, we are looking forward to seeing you in Kitakami soon. Signed by Geeta and Haruto Oda, Top Kitakami Champion." Jacq says as he gets excited and Raifort smirks.
"It's one in a lifetime activity so I'll be sure to send out the message and you'll inform them when it's time, understood?" Clavell asks as both teachers nod as Clavell smiles before looking to Raifort. "And Raifort, make sure you don't spook the students with the scary stories of Kitakami like 3 years ago." Clavell says as she lightly chuckled.
Oh my, a trip to Kitakami in the coming days? I guess we'll see what happens there soon enough as we see Jacq planning out the activities to come in the Kitakami Region.
Main Story
We see the gang at a camp where Nemona was training with her Pokemon prepared for her Gym Battle with Pawmo and Teddiursa battling against each other to hone their skills while Crocalor and Gimmighoul watched from the sides having trined already and the egg perfectly safe in it's capsule.
"Pawmo, use Dig!" Nemona says as Pawmo nods digging into the ground as Teddiursa watched for Pawmo's movements, "Now Teddiursa, use Trailblaze to try to dodge Pawmo's attacks!" Nemona says as Teddiursa nods running across the ground trying to be mindful of Pawmo's movements. As she did, she noticed Pawmo comming out of the ground as she dodged but as she did, she noticed that Pawmo didn't come out, but it was too late as Pawmo came out from the ground from behind preparing to attack Teddiursa.
"Behind you and block the attack!" Nemona yells out as Teddiursa nods and blocks the attack sending her back as both Pokemon breath heavily before Nemona, Pawmo and Teddiursa's stomachs growled as they laughed. "Alright, that's enough training for now. Now it's time for breakfast!" Nemona says encouragingly as her Pokemon nod and Arven finishes up, but it seems there's some issues going on in Ash's tent as Penny waited outside his tent. Ash and Pikachu came out wearing different outfits than usual with Ash having a short-sleeved white collared shirt with sunglasses and a blue jacket with long coattails along with a fake mustache while Pikachu wore a sunhat with sunglasses as Penny and Leavanny (who came out of the tent helping with the make up) approved.
"Ash, why do you look like a triple A movie star all of a sudden?" Arven asks as Ash sighs.
"It's because Penny felt like I needed a makeover to avoid the rabid fans of Levincia." Ash says adjusting to the outfit.
"It's only until we can get to the hotel, and you can change out but it's going to be dangerous going outside with only your regular outfit on." Penny says applying some finishing touches as Ash and Pikachu were curious. "Plus, after finding out Leavanny was a good stylist, I figured he would help me immensely and he did, thanks Leavanny." Penny says as she fists bumps the Nurturing Pokemon.
"My fans aren't this crazy." Ash says as Penny shakes her head.
"Oh no, not your fans, Iono's fans." Penny says as they recall back at Artazon where Kieran mentioned that Iono was a popular influencer.
"Well, Iono likes to report on various subjects through the Paldea Region from her role as a Gym Leader, her gameplay videos, geography from the next fashion trends to the strongest trainers and naturally being Stans, they adore her and any subjects they bring up including you. Here's a video covering you when you won the Masters 8." Penny says pulling up her RoAsh Phone which expands to show a video from a couple months prior of a girl with light pink and blue hair and her Bellibolt, she wore an oversized yellow jacket, had sharp teeth and an infectious smile.
"Ello, 'ello, hola! Ciao and bonjour! Welcome to a new episode of the Iono Zone! Today happens to be a surprising day for many of us, The Galar/World Champion Leon has been dethroned as our World Champion by the youngest competitor in the tournament with an electrfying partner in Pikachu named Ash Ketchum who already participated in various other Championships including the first Alola Championship that crowned him as winner. ¿¡Qué carajo!? (What in the world!?), a person as young as him as our World Champion!? He's got a lot of adventures going on at his age right Bellibolt?" Iono asks to her beloved Pokemon.
"Bolt! Bolt!" Bellibolt says as Iono nods.
"Indeed, Ash seems like a strong trainer alright, and I hope to see more of him in the future! Until then chaps, I'll keep in progress of the various aspects of our beloved Region and the world, this has been Iono and I'm logging off!" Iono says as the video ends as Ash takes a moment to analyze her.
"With her love of languages, it almost sounds like she's Salvatore." Arven says as Penny nods.
"Indeed, he was an Uva Academy teacher before joining Naranja with one of his homeroom students being Iono." Penny says as Ash thinks of his words.
"She doesn't seem that bad of a person." Ash says.
"Indeed, she's fairly nice from what I've heard but can get a bit overboard when not focusing and it's not her you have to worry about, it's her stans who want nothing more to invade someone's privacy with no regards to respect. Uva had to close for 2 days after the fans learned that Iono went there and naturally, Iono was upset but it seems her fans can't calm down." Penny says as Ash thinks about it, he's never really had groups of fans clamoring over him except for his friends of course so he wonders if they're respecting his space, or he hasn't encountered one of those fans yet.
"Well, I'm sure I'll do fine in Levincia. What's the worst that can happen?" Ash says casually as Nemona shook her head.
"Don't jinx it now, mr... we need a name for you, something perfect and subtle that no one would think about it." Nemona says as Ash thinks about some names and remembers a name, he used back in Kanto that he said by accident back then, but Ash felt more confident with the name.
"Just call me Tom Ato." Ash says with confidence.
We see the gang on Koraidon going over a hill as they see something in the distance, a city of beautiful infrastructure, dazzling culture and electrifying energy. The city of Levincia was upon them and the gang marveled upon it.
"So, this is Levincia." Ash says as Pikachu nods.
"Pika." Pikachu says as his cheeks sparked with electricity and so did Pawmo's and Penny's Jolteon who was out of his Pokeball.
"Is something wrong Pawmo?" Nemona asks as Arven reads up on the city on his map.
"I see, this city is popular for its electric types who're attracted to the city thanks to the bright energy the city brings which must explain them sparking like that." Arven says as the Pokemon nod and they walk towards the city, they notice on the way the beaches the crowds flocked to, the Pokemon roaming about, the islands in the distance and how technology filled it was.
"It's so bright and shiny, I can see why this location would be popular amongst tourists. It's a tech and fashion paradise." Penny says as the gang notice various billboards of varying brands.
"Those are Poketch watches." Ash says.
"Pika." Pikachu says agreeing.
"There's my dad's company over there." Nemona says 5 towers in the distance pointing to the 2nd one leaving Ash in awe.
"5 towers, so close to one another." Ash says as Nemona nods.
"Yep, those 5 towers are known as the Cinco Torres Complejas, 5 towers containing various companies including my father's company Colecciones Compartidas inc which is the 2nd tower." Nemona says as they marveled at it at a distance as Penny groans and points.
"Oh boy, there are the fan boys and girls." Penny says as the crowd of people walk and talk like a legion as they take pictures, bother others and pass by Ash Ato and the gang but don't pay attention to Koraidon who would've stood out amongst the cars and Cyclizars roaming about surprising the gang.
"Here I thought they would be interested in Koraidon." Nemona asks.
"I guess since most people know who Koraidon was back in Mezagoza, I guess most people know of Koraidon's existence." Arven says causing Koraidon to be disappointed towards the lack of fame in Levincia as Ash rubs their head.
"There, there, you'll be our star always." Ash says as Koraidon smiles. The gang gets off as Ash returns Koraidon to their Pokeball as they search for the Gym, while they walk amongst the crowd, they overhear various people talking but 3 voices seem to catch Ash and Pikachu off guard.
"So, Serena, do you have something in mind for a dress later at the contest? You were practically talking in your sleep about it!" a familiar, happy voice was heard.
"C'mon, I don't talk in my sleep. But I do have a dress in mind, it's at a store that we were given gift certificates for, and the dress is so pretty, I just want to wear it to the next event." Serena says.
"At least you're not like May, she constantly talks in her sleep about being the queen in her own kingdom." a much snootier male voice was heard as May groaned.
"Be quiet Max, I'm not like that!" May says laughing as Ash passes by the 3 without realizing it and upon hearing their voices, causes Ash to turn around but only sees a crowd and nothing more.
"What the- it felt like I heard something familiar. Do you have that same feeling Pikachu?" Ash asks his day-1 partner.
"Pika." Pikachu says agreeing with Ash.
"Say Tom, is something wrong?" Arven asks as Ash wakes up and shakes his head with a smile on his face.
"No, nothing, I thought I heard something." Ash says catching up to the group. Unbeknownst to Ash however, Serena had the same feeling as well and looked behind her and also thought she heard voices. Her Delphox beside her was a bit worried.
"Del, Del?" Delphox asks as Serena snaps out of it.
"Nothing Delphox, I'm good." Serena says as she catches up to May and Max.
We see the gang searching for the Gym all while exploring the sights and trying to make sure Ash keeps his identity hidden, Ash still felt distracted however as the gang were concerned but Nemona points out something.
"I think that's the Gym, it's all electrifying and... sweaty." Nemona says as the gang look to the 'Gym' which was actually a literal Gym as the gang looked on dumbfounded.
"Nemo, that's just an actual Gym. The real Gym, Gym is over there." Penny says pointing to another Gym with a Pokemon logo on it as they spot the real Gym and Nemona and Pawmo got pumped as she sent her other 3 Pokemon out and looked to her egg.
"Alright Pawmo, Crocalor, Gimmighoul, Teddiursa and Eggy this is it. Our 3rd official Gym Battle, you ready for it?" Nemona says with excitement in her voice as Pawmo grins happily.
"Paw! Paw!" Pawmo says.
"Remember to keep yourself in check." Ash says as Nemona nods and grins.
"Alright, vamonos!" Nemona says before pumping into the door, nose first causing her to rub her nose. "What's the big idea?" Nemona says as she looks to the door to see a note on there as Arven reads it.
"Dear everyone, I regret to inform you that I'll be away for a couple days at a family reunion and so the Gym will be closed for 2-3 days until I come back. Until then, enjoy the city until I get back everyone. - From Iono. P.S, to my loyal fans, go touch grass." Arven says as Nemona and Pawmo slump down. Clavell walks by alongside a small boy and his Dachsbun
"You're here for the Gym Battle, Miss Nemona?" Clavell asks as the gang turns around to face him.
"Yeah, but she's not here right now." Nemona says sadly as Clavell keeps his high energy.
"Don't feel so down, there's plenty to do in this city on this G.O.G.O.A.T day." Clavell says as everyone arounds him cringes. "Say As-" Clavell then looked around to see some people perking up as he changes his words.
"Tom Ato." Ash clarified as Clavell nodded.
"Say Tom, what's with the drip but then I got the idea." Clavell says as more cringe happens.
"So what stuff is there to do?" Arven asks as Clavell thinks to himself.
"Well, there's the beach to go have fun, Uva Academy is nearby and it's nice to visit. There are arcades, shops, test your might with Electric Types and even a boardwalk, public square and one that I'm taking my Grandson to is the Levincia Contest Battle. He wants to see the battle and shake hands with his favorite trainer who's participating." Clavell says as Ash appeared interested.
"Contest Battle?" Ash asked as Clavell nodded as Nemona remembers those words.
"Oh yeah, Ms. Cycas mentioned that back at Naranja. It's a tournament of sorts that mimics contest battles of Hoenn and Sinnoh and performances of Kalos with the thrill of Pokemon battles." Nemona says.
"Indeed, it could be a fun time to watch or even participate. Registrations are open now if you want to participate." Clavell says intriguing the gang as Ash got suddenly happy.
"That sounds pretty fun." Ash says.
"Is something up Ash? You seem pretty distracted towards something earlier and you're getting really excited about this small tournament. Is everything ok? We can talk about it." Penny says but before Ash could say anything, Crocalor hears the sound of singing, this would normally not be intriguing but to Crocalor, it was different. He started to mimic the singing eventually following the voice to somewhere.
"Crocalor?" Nemona asks as the gang and Clavell follow the Fire Croc Pokemon to the public square where they hear the sound of singing and a harp being heard as Ash sees a familiar man wearing fancy clothing, a Roserade who was spreading leaves in an intriguing pattern, Kricketune creating a harmonic melody with their pincer things and an Altaria and a Skeledirge sing a beautiful melody to a crowd of people who cheered on as Clavell recognized the man and so did Ash.
"Nando." Ash says in disbelief as Nemona's Crocalor mimics Skeledirge's melody and Nemona even notices a bit of pink aura coming from Crocalor's mouth as Nando noticed and gave a soft smile.
"It seems we have a fan amongst the crowd, a big supporter of yours Skeledirge." Nando said in his soft Paldean accent (in-universe Spanish) which made the crowd swoon including Penny and Skeledirge agrees. Nando looked to see 2 familiar figures and upon waving goodbye to the crowd, he goes to them and upon no one looking, Nando looks to Ash. "Ash, it's been a long time, hasn't it? Congrats on your wins." Nando says politely as Ash smirks.
"Thanks, it really has been a while." Ash says as he shakes Nando's hand as Nando looked to Clavell.
"It seems I've outgrowned you since my last visit eh Professor." Nando teased as Clavell smirks.
"You never did change huh Caballero." Clavell says as Nemona was curious.
"Are you familiar with him Ash, Clavell?" Nemona asked as both nods.
"Nando's a trainer I encountered on my Gym Challenge in Sinnoh. He partook in both Pokemon Contests and Gym Battles." Ash says remembering his encounters with Nando.
"Indeed, he was a student at Naranja Academy a long time ago before he left for his journeys. He had the making of being a Champion-Ranked back at Naranja." Clavell says as Nando lightly chuckled.
"Well, not to worry, I'm back home and you'll see me more often... just at a different academy." Nando says as Ash was curious.
"Different Academy?" Ash asked as Nando nodded.
"Indeed, while in the Hoenn Region during one of the Region's contests, I attracted the attention of the Platano Academy Director Maria who was looking for a strong trainer to be a representative of the academy, so I accepted." Nando says as Arven connected the dots.
"That means your Platano's-"
"Indeed, soon enough, he'll be one of the newest Champion-ranked students that will represent Platano Academy for both the school and the Champion's Ace Tournament, so I hope you treat your schoolmate well." Clavell says as Ash gets stars in his eyes.
"That means we'll battle again in the future." Ash says as Nando nods.
"Indeed, I can't wait to see your power in play again later on." Nando says as he grabs his bags and returns his Pokemon sans Roserade, "Maybe I can see that new power at the Levincia Contest Battle that's happening, I'm heading over to registration if you're interested." Nando says as Ash, Nemona and Penny were interested.
"That wouldn't be a bad way to spend the afternoon." Penny says as the gang agreed and prepare to head over there, we see Team Rocket at a nearby cafe appearing interested especially Jessie who reminisces on her performance days in Sinnoh with Yanmega as James and Meowth see the stars in her eyes.
"Oh boy, I can tell by that look you're planning to go to that thing." James says as Jessie nods.
"Think of it, it would be like my glory days of Sinnoh. Showing off my beautiful skills to the world like before for one last encore, right Yanmega? and we can show off your beautiful skills to Oinkologne." Jessie asks as Yanmega and Oinkologne nods.
"Yan, Yan!" Yanmega says happily.
"Oink! Oink!" Oinkologne says happily. As TR were talking, the Chewtle from the other day walked towards Jessie and as they group were getting up, Chewtle took his chance and chomped on Jessie's hair but she doesn't notice.
We see the gang at a large venue full of people waiting in line to show off their skills as the gang were surprised.
"Is this the line to the registration?" Nemona asks as Ash, Nemona, Penny and Nando get in line.
"Not a typical one here, you show what your skills are to the judges and if they deem you interesting enough to join the competition but beware, things get real competitive, real fast. Right Roserade?" Nando asks his Roserade.
"Rade, Rade!" Roserade says to her trainer agreeing with him. Penny looked to Arven.
"Not coming along one eye?" Penny asks as Arven shakes his head.
"No, I'm traumatized to go do stuff like this ever since 3 years ago at that competition. They hated my cooking." Arven says dramatically as Nemona rolled her eyes.
"Arven, that was for the school play, you were supposed to be at the cooking competition." Nemona says as Arven stayed dramatic. "Oh well, we'll see you in a little bit." Nemona says as Arven, Clavell and his grandson wave goodbye as they see people one by one into the room.
Meanwhile at the same venue in a changing room, we see May and Serena checking up on their Pokemon with May checking on her Glaceon and Blaziken to see they were tiptop shape while Serena checked on her Sobble and Pancham who were stretching, feeling energized for future performances. Serena however felt distracted lately.
"This is exciting, being here in this beautiful city full of lights and life! The view of the ocean! The delicious food! And being here for this competition and seeing who will go against us in the final round! It's so fascinating." May said with her heart and soul but noticed Serena being distracted, concerned, May asks what's wrong. "Hey, Serena? Are you alright?" May asks as Serena snaps out of it and gives a soft smile.
"Y-yeah, just- distracted that's all." Serena says as May sits down next to her.
"Did you see a Ghost?" May asks as Serena shakes her head.
"No, you know how if you haven't seen someone in a long time and suddenly see them, you start to feel anxious about something?" Serena asks as May thinks about it and nods.
"I get you; it feels strange to think about, but I get that feeling too at times. Who do you think you saw?" May asks as Serena looks up.
"I think... I saw Ash." Serena says as May perks up.
"You think that was him?" May asks with a bit of excitement.
"I'm not sure, it didn't feel like him through his clothing, but I just know it was him. I don't know why; I just feel like it." Serena says hoping that it's true but felt unsure.
"Well, Ash is in Paldea, he earned that back at the Masters 8 so there could be a possibility that he might be around here soon enough or maybe even now. I hope that's the case, I want to catch up with Ash over my adventures and see him again, do you feel the same?" May asks as Serena blushes before nodding confidently.
"Of course." Serena says as she looks around, "Say, where's Max?" Serena asks.
"He decided to participate in this competition, the little goober thought it was going to be boring before changing his mind thinking it sounded interesting. What a little brat." May says as Serena chuckles.
We see a flamboyant judge named Judge Myers and his Granbull who sends away a random participant and felt bored and sighed.
"Oh Grendel, it's so boring seeing these folks who have talent but have no spark, the spark that would make people think 'Oh, they're pretty flashy! We need to give them our attention because they're so intriguing!' But alas, it takes a while and I guess I don't have the same vision as Haruko, don't you think Grendel?" Myers asks his Pokemon who nods.
"Gran, Gran!" she said as the door opens to see Ash and his Pikachu as Myers appeared interested but still felt bored.
"You must be our next candidate; my name is Judge, Samuel Judge Myers, and this here is my Granbull Grendel. May I have you introduce yourself?" Myers asks as Ash nods.
"My name is Tom Ato, and this here is my Pikachu." Ash says.
"Pika! Pika!" Pikachu says as Myers nods.
"Excellent. Now Tom, I have to ask, what makes you interesting to our candidates here today? So far, I've accepted 5 candidates of intriguing potential but there are many who while competent, aren't who I'm searching for. Can you show why you want to be here?" Myers asks as Ash nods.
"Of course, but to do that, I need a participant to show off this skill. Can your Granbull be our opponent for 10 seconds?" Ash asks as he sends out Quaxwell as well who stood beside Pikachu, Myers was intrigued and Grendel wanted to go out there.
"Alright, Grendel, get out there!" Myers says as Grendel hops to the ground ready for battle.
"Excellent, does your Granbull have a ranged attack perhaps?" Ash asks.
"Of course." Myers says as Ash nods.
"Good, we're ready to begin." Ash says.
"Alright Grendel, use Shadow Ball!" Myers says as Grendel releases a ball of shadows towards Pikachu.
"Alright Pikachu! Time for our Counter Shield!" Ash says as Pikachu nods and charges up with electricity before spinning on the ground using Thunderbolt to create a swirling shield that bounces the Shadow Ball off the shield intriguing Myers as Ash follows this up. "Now Quaxwell, use Liquidation to kick the ball!" Ash says as Quaxwell jumps high in the air and with his water flowing on his legs and perfect timing of Pikachu ending the shield, Quaxwell kicks the ball towards Grendel who dodges. Myers now appeared impressed with the boy's talents.
"My oh my, that use of that technique to defend against a ranged attack and following that up by having a partner Pokemon attack it right back with teamwork and strategy, it's exactly the spark I've been searching for!" Myers says as he smirks, "You're in, head through that door and head to room 6 for further instructions, go make the world proud!" Myers says as Ash nods.
"Thank you, sir!" Ash says as he, Pikachu and Quaxwell head through the doors.
"What a unique kiddo, he truly has some talent. Now that I think about it, I feel like I've seen that technique before with Pikachu's spinning shield." Myers says as he thinks about it.
Ash and his Pokemon enter a dressing room which was nice and beautiful and even had a bed for rest or breaks.
"This is a nice room, pretty comfy and relaxing." Ash says as Pikachu and Quaxwell lie on the bed stretching their arms out on the bed. They wait 15 minutes until a woman wearing a suit comes in holding a costume, a mask and a number tag.
"Good afternoon, you must be Tom Ato?" the woman asks as Ash nods, "Good, my name is Mara and I'll be providing you intel towards what will be happening today for this competition." Mara said as she looked through her papers.
"Now are you familiar with Contest Battles?" Mara asks as Ash nods.
"Yes, I have 2 friends who do Contest Battles." Ash says as Mara nods.
"Alrighty, to recap, you work with your Pokemon to show off their style and moves with both performances and battles. The winner is one with the most points during the battle, so your objective is to earn more points than the opponent. Now here in Paldea, our director of Pokemon Performances Haruko is known for being... a bit eccentric especially with her love of 'themes' so this year is themed around masquerades." Mara says handing Ash a suave suit, what appears to be an LED mask, a number tag that says '0496' and a name tag that reads 'Kaito'.
"Masquerades?" Ash asks.
"Indeed, you'll be wearing a unique costume and mask and you and your Pokemon will work together to earn points and be stylish, but you cannot reveal who you are until after the match personally if you win or lose. Do you understand young man?" Mara asks as Ash nods and Mara smiles. "Good, I hope you enjoy your time here. Once you've changed, please follow me where you'll meet your your future challengers." Mara says as Mara closes the door.
We see Ash and Pikachu in their new attire with Pikachu given a yellow bowtie as they enter a room full of 15 other challengers as Ash looks on in awe. "Look at all these challengers." Ash says as Mara smiles.
"Indeed, we'll need enough for this competition, with 16 people, that results 8 matches for the 1st round and I hope you have fun and get along well with your rivals; they should be in the crowd somewhere." Mara says as Ash and Pikachu search around. Due to the theme of the competition, he couldn't see where Penny, Nemona or Nando were as he searched around. As he did, he accidentally bumps into a smaller figure as they both fall down.
"Ouch." he said wearing a Meowscarada mask as Ash holds out his hand.
"Sorry about that, you ok?" Ash asks as the boy nods and accepts help up.
"Yeah." the boy says as Ash sees his name tag as 'Fantasma' and the number of 1252 and the boy also noticed that Ash had a different number, "You must be my partner for the tournament Kaito. My name's Fantasma." Fantasma says as Ash smiles underneath the LED mask.
"Nice to meet you." Ash says shaking Fantasma's hand as Fantasma noticed Pikachu.
"Your Pikachu is so cute and cool, can I- pet him?" Fantasma asks a bit nervously as Ash nods and Pikachu walks down Ash's arm as Fantasma rubs him, but Pikachu feels like he's felt this before, a long while ago. Hands that were smaller and yet so soft, Pikachu couldn't explain it, but it felt so familiar and even Fantasma had that similar feeling. "To be honest, I'm worried on how I'll do, I feel like I might hold you back due to me being new as a trainer." Fantasma says but Ash shakes his head.
"Don't worry, it requires focus and patience, but you'll be able to get through." Ash says reassuringly as Fantasma nods and smiles. Just then, they hear the doors open to see Myers, Mara and an older woman with short blue hair, sunglasses, long dress and a large hat walk in and walk up the stage as Myers walks up to the microphone.
"Ladies, gents and non-binary alike, I welcome you to the 18th annual Levincia Contest Battle, battles in the vein of contest battles of Hoenn and Sinnoh. You don't have to be an expert at this to enjoy the fun, just go with the flow and the rules and you shall be good to go. Please welcome our director, Haruko to introduce our lovely competition." Myers says as the crowd claps and Haruko smiles.
"Thank you, thank you, it welcomes me so that I see so many eager participants join this city's competition. To see my home city thrive from both you and the crowd, it makes me feel young again. Having seen this stuff in Hoenn and Sinnoh, I wanted my home Region to have the same experience hence the Levincia City Contest. The rules are simple enough, you and your Pokemon will be on the stage facing off against another opponent, showing off your style and how you use your moves but it isn't simply a battle to knock out an opponent, you also earn points too from the way you use your moves so even if you knock out an opponent, there might be an opportunity for the opponent to win based on their score when using said strategies. Now, it's best you try different combinations when using the moves as trying the same one over and over will decrease your score so be creative." Haruko says as the participants pay attention. Myers walks forward pressing a button showing a screen of 16 contestant's names put into 8 matches before being placed into a bracket. Haruko clears her throat again.
"One other thing, for this year, we're teaming up with the Shangri-la Corporation." Haruko says as a masked individual with a Bauta mask and a green hair streak perks up at the familiarity of the name. "We want to provide Pokemon who have lost their trainers, were alone and hurt or were abandoned a new chance at a home so we're teaming up with them in order or audiences to have a chance to take in these Pokemon. So, for this competition, you will be using one of the Pokemon provided and you have to use them at least once in order to for the audiences to know them." Haruko says as Myers steps forward.
"There will be 16 contestants, and the first round will consist of 8 matches. The winning individuals after that moves on to the next round, then the semi-finals and lastly the finals with one last round and the winner moves on to earn the prize." Myers says as Mara nods and walks forward.
"That's right. In addition, the winning individual, a special prize for both and an opportunity to battle with our special guests of the year's competition with another competitor of the winner's choice. One is a star performer of the Hoenn Region from Rustboro to Verdanturf to making it in the semi-finals at the Grand Festival. The other is a Pokemon Performer of the Kalos Region whose stars shine bright from Coumarine to Fluerrgh City comes our 2 guests who will face you as one special challenge for fun. Say hello to May Hoshino and Serena Yvette!" Mara says as Serena and May walk upon the stage with their Delphox and Glaceon as Ash and Pikachu's eyes widen in surprise.
May? Serena? They're here in this city? This is- this is- Ash couldn't think of his thoughts as Fantasma smiles and Ash smiles but is still shocked.
"Hello one and all, it's so great to see you!" May says as Serena nods.
"I admit, I'm only a Performer and yet, Coordination seems kind of fun." Serena says honestly.
"Oh stop, you're making me blush, Performers have the same effect on me, they sound interesting and would love to do one, one day." May says as they focus and chuckle.
"Right, I hope all of you give it your best shot today and tomorrow!" May and Serena says as they focus on their Pokemon.
"Let's give you a taste of what we can do. Use Ice Beam in the air Glaceon!" May says as Glaceon launches a frozen beam in the air as Serena follows up on it.
"Now Psychic Delphox!" Serena says as Delphox controls the ice which through Delphox's psychic powers swirls around creating unique swirling effects and dazzled the audience as snow began to drop from the beam attack. "Now let it snow Delphox!" Serena says as Delphox controls both ends of Ice Beam which collides together creating a snow effect as the snow and ice dropped slowly and the crowd claps.
"Excellent work you two, you truly know how to wow the audience." Haruko says as May and Serena blush before Haruko focuses on the crowd, "Excellent, now, we'll take 20 minutes to get these first set of matches ready but until then, be ready." Haruko says as everyone splits up to go to their rooms until Mara remembers that there's only a limited number of rooms.
"Hang on one sec, there aren't enough rooms for everyone, so I need to have 8 individuals pair up and go to their 4 respective rooms and even though I say to not reveal your identity, I realize that it could be an annoyance to many so I'll allow you to take off your masks to those 8 but for the matches, to put em back on please." Mara says as they all nod and leave.
They were sent to the rooms as we see the 8 individuals split into 4 'teams' and unmask themselves to catch some breath starting with the members Cresent and Foco who wore a generic horror movie mask and a Kabuki mask respectively and who was accompanied by a Yanmega and Pawniard respectively.
"Gee, these masks are hot. They weren't like that during my time performing, it was only an eye mask." Cresent says as she takes it off to reveal she's Jessie while Foco takes it off to reveal she's Carmine as they look to each other in surprise.
Why does her hair look like a croissant? Why am I hungry? Carmine thought to herself.
Why is her hair so impossibly colored, I mean black on the outside and orange on the inside. To my knowledge, it's absolutely impossible. Jessie thought to herself, Carmine then noticed the Chewtle that was on the end of Jessie's hair.
"By the way, you have a Chewtle on your hair." Carmine says as Jessie has stars in her eyes.
"Oh, is this one of your Paldean sayings for my hair is fine? Well thank you, I like you already." Jessie says oblivious to the Chewtle as Carmine face palmed.
Next was Nijusei and Diadem who were wearing a Phantom of the Opera mask and a Noh mask respectively accompanied by their Floragato and Rookidee respectively as they take it off to reveal Penny and Kieran. Penny softly smiles as Kieran blushed furiously.
"Hi Kieran, how are you today?" Penny said politely as Kieran blushed even more.
"Oh- um, I'm good." Kieran says shyly.
Why do I have to be paired up with someone this cute, I won't focus now. But I have to, Ash would want me to focus. Remember what my sister said about talking to girls... She hasn't told me anything. Kieran thought to himself as Rookidee gave a knowing smile. "Why are you smiling like that Rookidee?" Kieran asks.
Next were Cadenza and Aria who walk into the room with Aria's Pawmo excited and Crocalor trying to sing as Cadenza takes off his Samurai helmet to reveal himself to be Nando as Aria takes off her Bauta mask to reveal she's Nemona.
"I see your Crocalor is still inspired by my Skeledirge." Nando says casually as Nemona nods.
"Yeah, I don't know what's gotten into Crocalor. I don't hear him sing that often or none at all really, I don't know why he's interested in singing right now." Nemona says as Nando thinks and sends out Skeledirge. Skeledirge notices Crocalor trying to sing and so Skeledirge helps him out by singing himself which intrigues Nemona with Skeledirge's good singing.
"If I had to assume, it maybe due a certain point in a Crocalor's life. Skeledirges often sing to sooth the souls of the dead and to celebrate life compared to most Ghost types and so Crocalor usually start to sing to mimic their evolution's singing potential." Nando notices pink aura coming out of Crocalor's mouth once more, "Your Crocalor may also be trying to learn Disarming Voice." Nando says as Nemona tilts her head.
"Disarming Voice?" Nemona asks.
"It's a Fairy type move that has the user sing a lovely melody imbued with fighting spirit that hits the opponent and bypasses accuracy. That's what I'm assuming Crocalor is learning, my Skeledirge knows Alluring Voice, another Fairy move, and it can be a good starting point if you want to train a bit?" Nando asks as Nemona nods and he looks to Skeledirge, "Use Alluring Voice." Nando says as Skeledirge launches a slow musical note in the air all while singing a lovely tone as Crocalor copies Skeledirge's singing.
"Crooc, Croca, lor." Crocalor says singing as the energy glows but only launches a puff of smoke.
"It's a good start, one other method of training with Sound moves is to sing along aside them. Do you have some musical experience?" Nando asks as Nemona thinks.
"I was in a musical in the 5th grade, I have some experience. Want to try Crocalor?" Nemona asks as Crocalor nods and Nemona breathes in, Nemona lets out a slow musical melody but as she did, her voice got a bit too high and hit a top C note breaking some glass and some eardrums and the move failed to work.
"You have quite a voice." Nando says.
"Thank you." Nemona says oblivious to what just happened.
Lastly were Ash/Kaito and Phantasma who were preparing to go and decided to do a bit of training, Ash sent out his Pokemon (sans Koraidon because of the room's size) to figure out who's going first in the first match as Phantasma looks on in awe.
"Wow, is this your Pokemon?" Phantasma asks as Ash nods.
"Indeed, these are some Pokemon I caught during my time here in Paldea while Leavanny is from my journey in Unova and Pikachu has been with me since Kanto." Ash says as Phantasma even with his mask still looked impressed.
"That's amazing, I'm still working on being a trainer." Phantasma says bringing out his Pokemon Marshtomp, Helioptile, Vibrava and Slakoth. "I became a trainer recently around 6 months ago, I started with Mudkip as my Starter influenced by a good friend of mine. I went to Kalos with my sister and caught Helioptile, I rescued a Trapinch back home in Hoenn who followed me home and Slakoth came from my dad. I love them all and yet, I worry I might not do well as a trainer." Phantasma says honestly.
"I get ya, being a trainer first time isn't easy but through patience, teamwork and hard work, it's well worth it in the long run." Ash says as Phantasma looked inspired and nodded happily.
"Thanks. You just have that energetic nature that can influence others, you kind of remind me of an old friend of mine, I traveled with him with my sister, a boy named Ash and a friend of his named Brock, my sister was on stage just a moment ago." Phantasma says as Ash and Pikachu's eyes widen in shock, "I was kind of a brat and yet through these adventures, I learned more about the world around me, how much I wanted to be a trainer influenced by my friends and family. I was so happy when I became a trainer once and for all with me having Mudkip and learning how to battle. I just wish I could see Brock and Ash again." Phantasma says as Ash takes off his mask as Phantasma gasps.
"Max?" Ash asks as Phantasma teared up and took off his mask showing it was Max.
"Ash? Pikachu?" Max asks as he lunges at Ash and Pikachu hugging them as Ash and Pikachu accepted the hug back. "It's so good to see you again after so long!" Max says as Ash chuckled and pats Max's head.
"You too!" Ash says as he gets up. "How have you been?" Ash asks as Pikachu jumps into Max's arms.
"I've been great! I've been reading up on your victories a lot, it sounds like you've had hills to climb through, haven't ya?" Max says as Ash laughs, Max got an idea in his head. "You know, May's here too and I hear you traveled with Serena too while in Kalos. You know, I could take you to them." Max says as Ash was frozen. On one hand, it was his opportunity to see May and Serena again especially Serena after their last encounter that was brief, but Ash felt like he wanted to surprise them after so long, so Ash shook his head.
"I'll wait, after all, I want to give them a good surprise for later when they see me." Ash says.
"Alright, if you're sure.'" Max says as the speakers in the room turned on.
"Attention, will Foco and Kuro make their way to the stage. We will begin in 8 minutes." a female voice was heard as Max panics.
"Oh boy, I haven't really trained yet. I only have to go off the battles I've seen from you and May, could I get some help?" Max asks as Ash smirks.
"No problem!" Ash says.
"Really, we might be paired together in a match, I'll know your strategies." Max says.
"I guess I get that concern but I ain't afraid!" Ash says confidently as they began to practice.
We see everyone back in their masks as we Carmine (Foco). Carmine stays focused while Kuro remained ready and wore a Pikachu mask as Mara walked onto the stage while the crowd cheered. We also see Myers, a judge with light brown skin named Akamu as well as Serena and May as guest judges.
"Alright everyone, this will be a match with each trainer sending out two Pokemon, think wisely on who you choose and how you will battle. As stated earlier, your goal is to earn points via the use of moves and how you use them so even if you knock out an opponent, they might win depending on how they use their moves to be stylish. Another rule is that we want to see a trainer's natural talent so no Tera, Mega, Z-Move, etc. Now please send out your Pokemon!" Mara says as they nod.
"Alright Sinistcha, Gothorita, let's go!" Carmine says as she sends them out.
"Cha!/Rita!" both Pokemon say ready to go, Gothorita had a wristband on her arm indicating her being from the Shangri-La corporation.
"Alright Magmortar, Empoleon. Come on out!" Kuro says as he sends out his two Pokemon who were ready for battle as Mara looked at both sides.
"My, a battle of small vs large Pokemon. Interesting. Very well and remember, you don't have to be professional but give it your best shot. Let's begin!" Mara says as a coin on the screen represents Carmine and Kuro's masks as the coin lands on Kuro. "And Kuro will make the first move." Mara says as Kuro nods.
"Alright Empoleon, use Stealth Rock!" Kuro says as Empoleon launches several stones in the air as Kuro follows that up, "Now cover them with your flames Magmortar!" Kuro says as Magmortar launches Flamethrower that heats up the rocks like hot coal as they land on the ground.
"I see, creating a sort of firewalk challenge for Foco's Pokemon. I remember doing that in my native Alola, let's just say I switched to Ice types after that." the Judge Akamu says jokingly as Carmine thinks and got it.
"Sinisctcha, use Scald!" Carmine says as Sinistcha nods and launches a beam of hot water as Carmine follows it up, "Now Gothorita, use Psychic to control the Scald and pick up the rocks!" Carmine says as Gothorita's eyes glowed and controlled the hot torrent moving it around in a swirl and making various shapes impressing the audience as she uses the water and a quick swoosh, she picks up the hot rocks that swirled in the water. Gothorita used the flowing water to a symbol resembling a whirlpool spiral.
"Amazing, using the water like that to pick up the Stealth Rocks to get rid of hazards and at the same time, showing off to the crowd of how you use that stream of water to form various things is very exciting. You saw some of that in your competitions right May?" Akamu asks as May nods.
"Indeed, they were very visual and stunning and the same applies here but now what does Foco intend on using that water for?" May asks as Foco focuses on the two opposing Pokemon and nods.
"Alright Gothorita, slam that Scald onto Empoleon and Magmortar!" Foco says as Gothorita nods and prepares to slam the stream of water onto the Pokemon.
"Quick Empoleon, use Water Pledge and Lava Plume together!" Kuro says as Empoleon slams his foot onto the ground summoning 3 water pillars and Magmortar puts his cannon onto the ground and launches a beam of fire from the ground covering the water pillars in magma as they harden up to create volcanic rock that blocks the attack which seemingly works but some of the Stealth Rocks that were within the stream landed onto the opponent's side.
"My oh my, using that combination of moves mixed with... possible science makes an interesting combination. I have a friend who's also in the science scene, technology wise but still mostly understood what he said. Still, it's a good way of blocking the attack. but it seems like some rocks slipped through the cracks, hope you got your shows to protect your feet folks." Serena says as Empoleon and Magmortar try to think of ways of avoiding the rocks as Carmine had another idea but waited for their moves.
"Get out of their you two!" Kuro says as they nods and tip toe through the rocks and make it out of the pillars.
"Now then, Sinistcha, Gothorita! Use Leaf Storm and Dark Pulse respectively towards the rocks!" Carmine says as both Pokemon nodded and launched their attacks towards the Pokemon.
"Dodge!" Kuro says as the Pokemon hop out of the way avoiding the attack but that's what Carmine was hoping for, the attack swirled combining the tranquil blast of leaves swirling with the dark, malice aura of Dark Pulse as it swirled around and hits the rocks. "Nice dodge you two!" Kuro says as Carmine gives a soft smirk.
"Is it?" Carmine asks as the rocks start to tumble apart after the attack and start to tip over and before the two Pokemon could react, the rocks fall on them and are knocked out which surprises everyone over how quick the battle was.
"And that folks is the end of the match! In Pokemon Contests when it comes to the Battle Stage, battles go by quickly but they're enough to display one's skills. As explained earlier, while the battle maybe over, the winner is also determined by points and your goal is to reduce their points until they're ko'd but there could be a possibility the opponents won. But let us see their scores, each competitor will start at 0 and will go up by the amount of points earned." Akamu says as he sits down and he, Myers, Serena and May work on their scores.
For Carmine, her scores are shown as 81, 80, 87 and 90 making her score total 338. Kuro on the other hand had his scores displayed as 77, 80, 79 and 81 for a total of 317
"I'll admit, seeing Foco make use of Scald and Psychic is something I've seen time and time again but using that as a way to pick up the rocks to have safe walk across and then using it to launch rocks on the other side I wasn't expecting. If it was an attack we see, I might've bumped it up a bit." Akamu says with a bit of stoicism.
"Indeed, and did you see that swirl of the vile darkness of Dark Pulse combined with the beauty of Leaf Storm. Two things opposite of each other swirling around is like peanut butter and jelly." Myers says with intrigue.
"To give Kuro some credit, I like his strategy of heating up Stealth Rocks to make for both a painful and hot experience is something I wouldn't want to deal with in real life. Plus, that Lava Plume and Water Pledge combo creating hard pillars, that can be pretty nifty defense in particular scenarios." May says with eagerness.
"And the finale caught me off guard, the Pokemon being defeated not with moves but the environment or at least stuff created from a move with the pillars is something I may not forget for a long time." Serena says honestly but clears her throat, "Still, let's give our competitors a round of applause." Serena says as everyone claps and Carmine and Kuro shake hands.
After a slight break, Haruko walks up stage clapping lightly.
"Thank you to our wonderful competitors, with Foco's win, she will move on to the next round so for our next match, we will have Kaito and Gaiter head up onto the stage next, it should be a very interesting match." Haruko says as Ash looked to Pikachu.
"Ready bud?" Ash asks as Pikachu smiles confidently.
"Pika!" Pikachu says happily hopping onto Ash's shoulder as he walks up to the stage, everyone looks on in intrigue but especially Serena who looks on with curiosity and is even frozen as if she's seeing someone familiar like earlier in the day. May also felt like that but looks to Serena.
"Serena, about what happened earlier, is this the feeling your talking about?" May asks as Serena nods.
"Yes, there's something about that competitor that feels, familiar." Serena says as Ash looks to Pikachu and nods as he hops onto the field.
"Zorua, time to shine!" Ash says throwing out the Pokeball revealing Zorua (who had a tag) who twirls around and stretches ready for battle. Gaiter walks onto the field and she's ready for a fight too.
"Vivillon, Ninetales, let's go!" Gaiter says as she sends out Vivillion (with a tag) and Ninetales who were ready for battle too.
"My it seems that Kaito has caught the attention of our guest judges, seems like we have a fan favorite." Mara says as May and Serena snap out of it and focus on the battle while blushing from slight embarrassment. A coin on the screen appeared showing Kaito's mask and Gaiter's Harlequin mask as the coin flips landing on Gaiter's mask allowing her to go first.
"You may begin!" Mara says as Gaiter nods.
"Alright Vivillion, use Energy Ball and Ninetales, use Shadow Ball!" Gaiter says with Vivillon launching a ball of energy while Ninetales launches a ball of gastly aura towards them as the two attacks fuse, swirling like the Yin Yang of the purplish Shadow Ball and Green Energy Ball. Ash stays focused on the other hand.
"Alright Zorua, use Grass Knot to flick the attack in the air!" Ash says as Zorua nods and his eyes glow creating 2 blades of grass that flick the heavy attack in the air as Ash looked to Pikachu, "Pikachu, jump in the air and use Iron Tail to slam that Shadow/Energy Ball combo to them!" Ash says as Pikachu nods and jumps high in the air and slams his tail onto the attack sending it flying towards Vivillion and Ninetales which explodes as Ash sees his opening.
"Alright Zorua, use Shadow Ball and Pikachu, use Electro Web towards the Shadow Ball!" Ash says as they both nod and launch their respective attacks with Zorua going first and launching Shadow Ball towards the two stunned Pokemon before Pikachu launches a large web toward the Shadow Ball and before that attack landed, the Electro Web surrounded the Shadow Ball which exploded doing even more damage to the two Pokemon as the crowd looked on surprised.
"My! Back-to-back hits, that use of Vivillion's Shadow Ball and Energy Ball swirling together resembling a symbol of sorts. Like with Foco's Dark Pulse and Leaf Storm combo from earlier, that use of those two moves of opposing colors and aura was a spectacle to behold. And then we have Foco using that Grass Knot, Iron Tail combo to send that attack flying and then following it up by Zorua using Shadow Ball and Pikachu's Electro Web capturing it to make an explosion of power, things are getting really fiery right now folks! Who will come out on top!?" Myers says as Ninetales and Vivillion recover from the attack ready for more.
"Impressive, but I'm not giving up that easily. Vivillion use Tailwind and Ninetales, use Scorching Sands!" Gaiter says as they nod and Vivillion flaps her wings quickly causing a gust of wind that pushes Pikachu and Zorua back as Ninetales's eyes glow and released a stream of hot sand that swirls through the Tailwind and damages Pikachu and Zorua but they try to push through as Gaiter follows up on the attack. "Now then, Vivillion, use Hurricane and Ninetales use Inferno!" Gaiter says as Vivillion launches a tornado from her wings while Ninetales unleashes a purple flame breath attack from her mouth that swirls around the Hurricane creating a fiery tornado that heads towards the two Pokemon trying to suck them in.
"We won't be deterred that easily. Pikachu, use Thunderbolt and spin on the ground!" Ash says as Pikachu knew the exact thing Ash is referring to and nods as he charges himself up and uses the Countershield which swirls around as Ash follows that up, "Zorua, use Dark Pulse towards the shield!" Ash says as Zorua nods launching a beam of darkness towards the Countershield which spins around creating a spectacle as it spun around mixing electricity and darkness and clashed with the tornado of fire which faded away as Pikachu stands back up after that.
"Ninetales, use Flame Charge and Vivillion use Energy Ball!" Gaiter says as Vivillion launches an Energy Ball as Ninetales covers herself in a fiery veil and rushes through the Energy Ball as green energy surrounded the Flame Charge as she aimed for Zorua.
"Zorua, use Night Daze and Pikachu, use Thunderbolt onto the Night Daze!" Ash says as Zorua's paws glow a dark hue and stomps onto the ground creating a dark force field as Pikachu uses Thunderbolt onto the Night Daze creating an electric shield of some sorts that surrounds Night Daze. Ninetales collides with it and is pushed back even shocked a bit as Ash follows it up. "Zorua, launch Shadow Ball from above and Pikachu, catch it with your Iron Tail!" Ash says as Zorua launches a Shadow Ball from above and Pikachu catches the ball attack and his tail glows, he flips forward spinning in a ball formation as the crowd sees a sort of light show created from Pikachu's air rolling with Iron Tail/Shadow Ball combination.
He lands back on the ground, jumps in the air with a spin and strikes Ninetales sending her and the Shadow Ball flying towards Vivillion and dust appears, the dust disappears showing the two knocked out. Pikachu and Zorua breathed heavily knowing that this won't be a win unless the scores were higher.
"Gaiter's Ninetales and Vivillion are unable to battle, but we shall now see the scores of our judges to see who truly wins this match." Mara says as the judges work on their scores. For Gaiter, her score is placed as 90, 90, 95, 95 equaling 370 while for Kaito, his scores are placed as 80, 84, 90 and 90 making 344 leaving Ash disappointed but still smiles underneath that mask.
"I'll admit that Kaito's moves had flare no doubt but Gaiter's infused style with that flare for a truly wonderful performance especially with that Hurricane + Inferno combo." Akamu says as Myers nodded.
"Indeed, I will admit that spinning shield technique felt familiar but still unique similar to you, I felt Gaiter infused more style into her moves, but I won't ignore that Kaito did a great job as well." Myers says as Serena and May stayed silent unsure of what to say over Kaito's loss but shook it off and stayed professional.
"I feel that both Kaito and Gaiter did great jobs in general, it's not a serious competition so while simple, I can see both trainers hitting it big in the future." Serena says playing it neutral as May nodded.
"I agree, I'd say we give our challengers a round of applause!" May says as everyone does, and Ash shakes Gaiter's hand. Max felt worried for Ash and decided to sneak away to follow him.
We see Ash, Max and Pikachu walking down the hall as Ash reflects on his battle with Gaiter.
"Pika?/Ash?" Pikachu and Max asks snapping Ash out of it.
"I'm fine, just thinking of my battle from earlier. They were right when I needed style, so I don't blame them for scoring Gaiter the win." Ash says as Max frowned.
"Ash..." Max says but Ash shakes his head.
"It's alright, after the competition, I'll go see them myself." Ash says but someone steps out of the corner confidently.
"At the risk of your own identity, Ash?" a female voice was heard as the masked girl and Pawmo step out of the shadows to reveal Nemona/Aria as Ash was taken aback.
"Nemona? Is that you?" Ash asks as Nemona nods.
"Indeed. Just leave the competition to me sensei, I'll win it so you can see them for yourself." Nemona says as Ash was taken aback.
"You don't have to do that for me, I'll risk my identity to see Serena and May again, it's fine." Ash says but Nemona shakes her head.
"Ash, you've done a lot for me ever since you've arrived. You became my teacher and listened to me about my struggles and issues, those things meant a lot to me, more than you know. So, I want to repay that kindness in full for doing a lot for me." Nemona says softly as Ash smiled softly.
"Nemona... I haven't even told you why they mean so much to me and you want to help me see them again no questions asked, I think I taught you too well." Ash says as Nemona grins.
"I figured they might've been traveling companions and friends back then, I saw you froze up so I kind of had an idea. Leave it to me, I'll make sure I won't lose." Nemona says confidently as Max looked to Ash.
"Say Ash, do you know her and are you a teacher?" Max asks as Ash smiles brightly underneath the mask.
"She's Nemona, she's a Pokemon trainer and fellow classmate on a journey to become a Champion-Ranked Trainer and I'm her sensei and friend. I travel with two more classmates named Arven and Penny, I'll have to introduce you, Serena and May to them later." Ash says as Max and Nemona talked a bit before the speakers announced Aria to the stage.
"Guess, that's my que, wish me luck and I'll make sure you get your chance to see them. That's a Paldean promise." Nemona says holding out her pinky as Ash does the same shaking pinkies before Nemona heads out there.
We see Nemona across from another challenger who wore a skull mask and displayed an aura of confidence. Nemona looked to her Pokeballs, one had a tag on it signaling it's a guest Pokemon as she thinks to herself.
What a day, finding out that Ash's old traveling friends are in town, Crocalor being influenced by a rival of Ash's and finding out my late mom's company is in this competition to help the Pokemon reach further people and now I'm fulfilling my teacher's promise. I better live up to those promises. Nemona thought to herself as she sent out Crocalor and Haxorus who had a tag on his arm as they prepared for battle. the skull masked man sends out Alolan Raichu (who had a tag on her arm) and his Rhyperior.
Mara steps forward, "Aria, Armazon, are you ready for battle?" Mara asks.
"Yes." both Nemona and Armazon say as Mara nods and a coin appears on the screen flipping showing Aria going first.
"You may begin!" Mara says as Nemona stares at Armazon. What will happen next? What will the next rounds look like? Who's making it to the finale, find out next time.

Omake: Tauros's New Name
Before the gang left Oresville and after the gang called Sada, the gang made a quick call to Oak for Ash to talk about Ash's journeys with Oak thus far and it sounds like Oak is especially impressed as he sees Koraidon and Cyclizar side by side along with Tinkatuff, Nymble and Quaxwell and Pikachu who was in the mysterious ? Tera Type.
"My oh my, me boy, you've certainly been through a journey. Paradox Pokemon? I've only heard Sada and Turo talk about them before, but I thought they were myths but here we are now and Pikachu having this unknown Tera type, Clavell was right, Paldea is certainly full of mysteries." Oak says giving a light chuckle, Ash noticed that his Charizard, Krookodile and Bayleef were helping 3 of his Tauros's out in staying still and calming them as Nurse Joy and Blissey checked on them.
"Hmm, what are happening with Tauros?" Ash asks as Oak looks to the 3 Tauros's.
"Oh, it was time for your Pokemon's annual checkup and everyone went well but it seems like Tauros's have an issue towards staying calm and still so Charizard, Bayleef and Krookodile are working on keeping them calm especially your Bayleef who learned Sweet Scent and it's really calming them down, we just got through the first 27 Tauros and now we're seeing to these rowdy 3." Oak says as Nemona's eyes sparkled.
"So, it is true that you have 30 Tauros." Nemona says as Ash nods.
"Indeed, I was at the Safari Zone in Kanto one day and while trying to catch some Pokemon, these group of Tauros's kept running in front of my Safari Balls and so as a result, I have 30 Tauros's." Ash says confidently as Penny and Arven's eyes also sparkle.
"So how do you differentiate between your 30 Tauros?" Penny asks.
"By the tufts of their hair." Ash says casually as Nemona, Arven and Penny looked disappointed.
"Eh- wha- why- you mean, you don't know which Tauros is which except by the tufts of their hair. No, no, amigo, we're not doing that. Each Tauros should be unique and be able to differentiate from one another. Professor Oak, do you have number tags?" Nemona asks as Oak searches and finds some.
"Indeed, I do." Oak says.
"Here's what we're going to do, Charizard, could you gather the other 27 Tauros, I have an idea." Nemona says as Charizard nods and yells out to the Tauros who line up, "We're going to place tags on them from numbers 1 to 30 and I have a unique name in mind for the 30, does that work Ash?" Nemona asks as Ash nods and Oak readies himself as the Tauros line up.
"Alright! Uno, Dos, Tres, Cuatro, Cinco, Seis, Siete, Ocho, Nueve, Diez, Once, Doce, Trece, Catorce, Quince, Dieciseis, Diecisiete, Dieciocho, Diecinueve, Veinte, Veinteuno, Veintedos, Veintetres, Veintecuatro, Veintecinco, Veinteseis, Veintesiete, Veinteocho, Veintenueve and Trienta." Nemona says as Oak places the last number tag on the 30th Tauros. Arven and Penny looked on in shock and had a deadpan expression towards these new names even Koraidon was dumbfounded.
"Seriously." both trainers breathed out as Ash had stars in his eyes.
"I love those names, what do they mean?" Ash asked as Nemona had a confident smile.
"You see, they... they were ancient names of famous warriors of the past whose names represent a theme of heroism and grace." Nemona lies with a bravado of confidence as Ash looks on in awe while Penny and Arven were still dumbfounded.

What a wild ride this chapter has been, I wasn't even sure where to stop so I decided to stop before Nemona's battle with Armazon begins but I will resolve this in the next chapter. After Nemona, there are also 5 other fights for the first round but only 1 or 2 more will be shown after Nemona's just so we aren't here for the next couple chapters but either the next chapter or the chapter after that will end this mini arc. As I said at the beginning, this episode acts as the beginning of the end of 'season 1' so I plan to have a couple more episodes left. I of course don't want to spoil what will happen in these next couple episodes, but I'll provide some brief descriptions.
*This episode and 1 or 2 episodes after this is the tournament with one bonus filler episode.
*The Gym Battle episode.
*An episode set at Uva Academy.
*The 2nd to last episode focuses on the school conference where Team Ash work together for a project.
*The 'season finale' which I can only say is emotional and revolves around a character.
Serena's new Pokemon:
*Sobble (Male, TT: Water, Ability: Sniper): 3 months prior, while on vacation in the Galar Region with her mother in Motostoke, she and Delphox found a Sobble injured and left alone. Upon healing him, she learns from a passerby that Sobble belonged to a trainer and is trying to search for him and upon finding said trainer, it was revealed that he abandoned Sobble for being a crybaby. Naturally, Sobble cried but gave way for him to learn Hydro Pump soaking him and driving him away.
Sobble noticing Serena's care for him decided to go with Serena as one of her Pokemon.
*Audino (Female, TT: Fire, Regenerator): Half a year after Serena departed from Ash, she met with Miette after a performance in Unova near Nimbasa City where she saw a graceful Pokemon singing to herself. Enamored, Serena attempted to catch Audino but learned that this particular Audino was more similar to a Sukeban (female Delinquent) as she runs a gang of delinquent Pokemon when suddenly, Serena's Delphox (who had just evolved after a performance in Unova) saved her from Toxicroak with her newly learned Magical Fire as Toxicroak was going to strike Audino though Toxicroak did land one Poison Jab on her.
Audino appreciated the help but acted stubborn about it acting like she didn't need help, but Miette could tell that she just doesn't want to admit it and even teases her slightly. A Gothorita uses Psychic to telepathically communicate to the performers that Audino wanted friends, but everyone kept pushing her away causing Audino to change feeling like no one would understand her but after Serena said to Audino, she would be her first friend, it caused Audino to tear up but tried to hide it.
Just as Serena and Miette were about to leave, Audino followed Serena and came along with her. Miette being cheeky found Audino's Mega Stone into Serena's bag and Serena gave it to Audino but doesn't have a Mega Stone.
*Flaffy (Caught as Mareep, Female, TT: Electric, Static): A year after departing from Ash in Kalos, she was in Johto for a performance and while training in a forest, a Mareep became interested in Serena's training and decided to mimic her style by copying Sylveon. While training, she accidentally stumbles out of the grass where she meets Serena and her Pokemon and Serena notices Mareep's interest in Serena's training, so she offers the Mareep a chance to join them and joins the team. She evolved into Flaffy following a performance.
