Chapter 25: Hunts and best laid plans
"B... next time we go to a super advanced city with robot slaves and cute tomboy catgirls... can we atleast get you dressed up as one. I'm super down for my wife as a cute cat girl right now" Faith looked about their latest hunting ground and realised they had 3 new bounties all of varying importance and little time to get dressed up and blend in. the blending in was just her own personal idea to get Buffy in a miniskirt with fake cat ears.
Dawn looked over to Persephone and gave her a wink that said to the young beauty that she would also enjoy if she dressed up as a cat girl in a very revealing short skirt, although in private as she loved privacy almost as much as her mother Faith did.
"Dawn my love... i would much more prefer you dressed up as a cute, sexy cat girl. don't give me that look cause i saw those cat ears in the gift shop back there and you'll give in eventually" Persephone grinned knowingly as Dawn was very whipped and her mothers had become acutely aware of it as Persephone really did manage to get under her skin but in the most delightful ways.
"Oh! we should buy some collars Faith... something tells me Dawn would look great with a little leather collar... maybe some string to chase! gotta remember to feed her though, she gets grouchy when she hasn't eaten enough" Dawn came over and spanked her jean clad ass so quickly as she passed that Persephones cheeks where stinging red and moments after she was already next to Buffy and linking her arm with her mother.
"These perverts! we should go and hunt that beastmaster the locate spell told us was in the shopping districts... they can take those slimey highwaymen as punishment for sexualising two innocent young ladies such as us" Dawn playfully upturned her nose and Buffy mimicked her false indignation but sent Faith a secret message which made her grin evily as she told her wife they would buy a leather collar when they got home for reasons.
"Just meet us back at the inn when you catch the fucker, we'll take the tram there and back ok, so we might take a bit longer to get things wrapped up!" Faith grabbed Persephone who was dressed in tight blue jeans and a beautiful purple blouse underneath a stunningly beautiful black leather jacket Dawn had purchased for her as she really liked to see her girlfriend in more form fitting clothes.
"Why would we be late, it's a kill mission, they got a capture... plus the tram takes like 15 minutes to get to the map marker? Dawn brought me a pretty purple sawn off shotgun with a silver barrel. kinda thinks she thinks i'm gonna kill a werewolf or something" her long black hair bobbed merrily in the wind as she kept pace with her girls taller and much stronger mother as she made her way to the tram.
"Well she loves you enough to give you a magically enchanted shotgun like hers and also she slapped a protection spell into your ass, even though you are stronger than she is naturally" Faith had seen the way she was with Persephone, careful and jealous of anyone she didn't know but also she kept her feelings very well hidden and under control, both her and Buffy had actually asked Ruby to make sure there wasn't any magic at play but it turned out the aura reading revealed they were just madly in love with each other.
Persephone caught up with Faith at the pristine city streets tram stop and between the tall buildings and stupidly high tech cars passing by, she looked in the tram stops mirror next to the timetable and couldn't help but sense a magical ward of protection there as Faith had told her so blatantly. she smiled deep at the silent gesture, it made her heart swell and she could held but hold her binding ring to her chest.
"Dawns... amazing, i've never felt so... loved" She whispered those words and they managed to aleviate some of Faiths personal fears she had concerning their relationship but it really did seem like both young women were absoloutly smitten with one another in a way only her and Buffy had been together since they first admitted their true feelings.
"Hurt her and i'll kill you ya know, just wanana make sure you know" Faith was quietly threatening but Persephone didn't show an ounce of fear and she kneeled down to tie up a loose knot on her new Converse. Dawn though she might prefer them to sandals since she said sandals outside a desert town just seemed cold feeling when you look at them.
"Well, here's hoping you do when i'm so stupid to ruin such a wonderful thing... it's so strange having no interest in anyone my whole life and then boom! Dawn just stormed through those Saloon doors and took my breath away! i still blush when we go to bed! she's so god damned gorgeous and funny" Persephone had a wide eyed smile as Faith shook her head and rolled her eyes. they stepped into the incoming tram that was obviously going towards the outskirts where all the farms were and their bounty.
"We should stop by some shops on the way back, ya know... see if there's anything interesting to buy" Persephone sat necxt to Faith and repositioned her shotgun and pistol holster. she still wasn't used to the feeling as the added weight was fine, but Faith helped her as she noticed she was having trouble and she tightened the leather holster straps and gave her some advice.
"Well look at that, much better. Man my daughter picked a cute one but i take it all your old bounties weren't exactly heavy on the gun play... super strength kinda rocks like that until you find out you need both" Faith finally sat back and waited for their stop in silence but Persephone was having none of that because she actually wanted her opinion on something.
"Hey, Faith... Does Dawn buy alot of stuff for the person she's in a relationship with... say a certain vampire turned human who ran off to live a normal life?" her eyes were filled wifh worry and although Faith didn't really want to say anything about her daughters first love she knew she had to if she wanted shit to work out better.
"No, she never brought him a damn thing... you are special to her, Buffy actually keeps telling her not to and even made the point of saying 'well, you never did it for William!'. but never ask me about my daughters old relationship again... you ask her, understand?" Faith looked over to her and she seemed to understand but thanked her anyway with a small whisper of a voice.
"It's just... i want to buy her something too, maybe have a necklace made and get it all enchanted so she has some extra luck or protection... she always comes home after shopping with you two for that christmas thing and she spoils me. guess it's weird when you've never had anyone do it for you before" Her eyes watched the scenery pass hastily and didn't notice Faiths wry smile perk up as she realised Persephone was actually very similar to her, but much more honest and open.
"She does like to spoil you, just lay back and accept it little one. you're lucky, i've never seen her so blissfully happy. do you know how annoying it is when the only topics of conversation we have now are about you two and how wonderful you are! man with that dumbass vamp she kept her mouth shut, you get worshipped" Faith checked her enchanted map and knew they were atleast still 10 minutes away and probably had to keep the comversation going in this empty tram.
"Thank you, but i want to spoil her too... all i know is she likes food and reading... but we dance to music alot, i brought her loads of vinyls cause she loves 'So into you by Atlanta rythm section' and loads of jazz and funk. we went that little record shop in Sunnydale with Ruby yesterday and she was in heaven" Persephone perked up at the memory in her head, seeing her lover in her element within her minds eye.
"Ohhhh... that's why Ruby told me she hates people slow dancing! man i thought she was just being weird again or caught a re-run of dancing with the stars" Faith chuckled at the face palm her daughters girlfriend had just performed and knew she was about to explain why she was so embarrased.
"We broke a shelf in the magic box cause we suck at dancing! she was really pissed, but then she waved her hand and chanted some weird words and it was fine again. well the monkeys paw was still crushed though..." Persephone scrunched up her face and Faith just shook her head and coughed out another laugh since now everything made sense.
"Dawn... introduces you to our worlds music and dances you into a shelf and crushed a monkeys paw, i can't wait to tell Buffy. they are so fucking clumsy!" Faith watched as the buildings of the city started to fade away and be replaced with rural but still very advanced looking farm land and she could see the bounty was not far away and was probably setting up a trap to try and rob this specific tram from the positioning the criminals took on the map.
"Ambush eh! bet i can kill more than you can! Gotta impress Dawn somehow" She unsheathed her Browning pistol she knew was enchanted with magical dark bullets and auto rapid fire where as her purple sawn off shotgun was like Dawns and eviscerated everything in its line of sight that was organic.
Faith eyed her cockily "tell ya what, if you match me or beat me then i'll take you shopping when we get home to buy Dawn a few presents before christmas and then some christmas presents we'll open on the 25th" Faith unholstered her lava blasting rifle which was a long range high powered shotgun more than a rifle but it was ungodly accurate and trusted. those idiots had a kill order too, she just had to snap some pics with persephones or her polaroid and boom they could call it in and get paid.
"Are we in Sunnydale or here for that holiday thing? Dawn wasn't really clear on it, she kinda fell into my arms and we both fell asleep after your shopping trip, wait..." Persephone went from checking her guns to realising the only reason she had to stay at home yesterday while they shopped was because Dawn was buying her christmas gifts.
Faith Saw the slimey highwaymen appear from a distance out the window but laughed and slapped her shoulder, congratulating the young girl for not being completly dense. "Yeah, we brought you gifts dummy... Dawns really into you and well that means we have to love you too dumbass" Faith took point and went to the from top the tram which was automated with no driver and Persephone took the back entrance and hid the shotgun under her long leather jacker on the left side and on the right she hid her browning pistol.
Faith gave her a nod of affirmation as she took one side of the tram and Persephone the other, so their fire would have less chance of crossing once the firefight begun. The tram stopped after being hit with a strange drone like device that shut down the electronics temporarily but the Sheriff alarm went off so that mean they would be doing this speedily and also the sheriffs could help them both cash in and give them a lift back to the inn.
"We got 7 minutes till the sheriff arrives, they are usually pretty quick, so wait till they're in and just open fire ok, just aim away from me ok!" A group of six men pried open the door with large iron crowbars and had what looked like double barrelled Ak's which had been poorly modified but looked like they worked atleast.
"Rupees out and all valuables in the sack! NOW!!!" The larger hairy man who was quite muscular was shocked when Faith yawned and told him to 'Fuck off' and he tried to but her nose with the edge of his rifles backside but suddenly found his head completly detached from his body and his two goons behind him were riddled full of rifle holes and the funny thing was Faith had been worried she would need to get this done quickly after the first shot to protect her daughters girlfriend.
She was wrong.
Persephone had her shotgun pressed against one goons nose and everything above his mouth disappeared in a silent instant whilst her browning pulled off two perfect headshots. one in the left eye of a very punk rock looking guy who hadn't even been able to lift his gun in retaliation before he flopped to the ground. his friend had the unfortunate luck of having his own head explode and painting itself across half the tram but thankfully narrowly avoiding both women who just looked at the mess in shock.
"Persephone! THAT!! was so messed up... i liked it" Faith noticed one last guy she had missed and before she could flip her rifle up the dark haired beauty had already chucked her sawn off barrel inside the highwaymans mouth and evaporated his head completly in a blaze of dark light. his body flopped to the floor in an odd fashion but Persephone smiled as she looked back to Faith.
"Guess who won! you have to help me make Dawn happy! she's gonna fall even more in love with me too! i'll ace this christmas thing, you'll see" She jumped up and down happily whilst Faith rolled her eyes and stepped outside for some fresh air. Persephone joined her as she knew Faith was waiting for the Sheriff and even got her bounty I'd out of her wallet in preparation after holstering her weapon.
"She likes french fancies... the pink ones... i'll make em with you using ingredients from here. Also when we go shopoing we'll start in Sunnydale but you'll finish here, just incase we find a better necklace for her in the jewelers here, Buffy funded em to open shop so we'll get a discount easy" Faith leaned against the open tram door and took in a deep breath of evening air from the surrounding fields and few houses of red brick they could spy out in the distance.
"Faith, thanks for helping me, this bounty will give me enough cash to spoil her for once and hey if we catch the second one tommorow i'll be able to over do it! shower her in love like she does me all the time" Her long jet black hair flowed in the wind as she stood upon solid ground, the stone shone under sepia light and grass grew between the cracks and flowed recklessly in the chilly evening air.
"Do you love my daughter? as I love and adore her mother, Buffy" Faith asked the young women who didn't have to think about it for even a single second, she just knew already and turned to show her odd purple eyes glowing under the evening sky.
"More than anything in this entire existence, it's like she's... no that's stupid to say..." Persephone waved her hand in front of her face and tapped her forehead in an annoyed way as she stopped herself from internally cringing but Faith wanted to know what she was going to say anyway as she heard sirens off in the distance.
"Tell me anyway, can't be that stupid... just say what you feel, even if it's dumb. better out in the open then in your head anyway" Faith looked at the flashing lights and knew they Sheriffs were faster than usual which made her hapoy as it meant they could get the bounty processed faster.
Persephone shrugged and struggled after to find the words until... "I think she's my missing part, the other side of my soul. hey it sounds dumb but, my heart aches... when she is far away for far too long" her purple eyes watched the sirens turn into hovering cars in the distance and Faith sighed as she prepared herself to deal with local law enforcement as usual, thankfully they knew her and how strong she was so it wouldn't turn into a fight anytime soon.
"I feel the same with Buffy, they both inspire the best in us i guess... she does love having you with us, even put make up on for you too. oh she wants ro get takeout tonight so we can eat together at the inn... she's really enjoying the family dinner thing these days, it weird" Faith stepped forward knowing the police were closing in and would be upon them in moments as they slowed down once they had identified her and figured this was a bounty hunting job pure and simlle.
"Yeah, she says i'm family so we have to eat together alot... i just say to her she's too lazy to cook as she always gets hungey around the time you start cooking and she can smell the 'good eats' as she told me ladt time" Persephone chuckled along with Faith as both were coming to slowly accept the other and as they greeted the sheriffs Persephone couldn't help but wonder how her lover was fairing with her hunt.

"This capture is gonna suck mum! last time you tried to knock a bad guy out his head exploded and we don't need to be covered in blood when we get back to the inn, i don't wanna make my lovely girlfriend panicing over me as i'm drenched in bounty blood" Dawn moaned in an annoyed tone of vouce as she followed the map through the local streets. her eyes did wonder every now and then to the takeouts as she couldn't wait to get this job finished and buy her lovely muse a stupid amount of fatty food they could devour back in their hotel room.
Dawn had skipped breakfast which was a strange and almost unheard of occurence in their household as Dawn was extremly food orientated to the point both Willow and Joyce both commented how her and Buffy would be fat if they were not super powered and burning more calories than an olympian constantly training 24/7. Buffy had brought it up but quietly shelved the conversation until right now when they were following a constantly moving target on their enchanted map through winding futuristic streets as people and machines buzzed about them.
"Dawn we should grab you something to eat from that... i'm gonna say hot dog stall but, they also sell other kinds of meats and buns... anyway! ya gotta eat" Buffy watched Dawn roll her eyes and try to walk off until she appeared impossibly fast in front of Dawn and placed a hand on her shoulder and held her in place with the strength only a goddess could posess.
"I'm not hungry... mum please just leave it alone!" and as if on cue her stomach growled and it was terribly loud. Buffy gave her a knowing look and Dawn sighed and kicked her foot against the cold marble looking tiles which made up the pristine pavement.
"Ok... i'm on a diet. i don't want to get fat" Buffy dragged her over to the food cart and made her pick out something small and meaty which she caved and did as she was told, her blonde worrying mother also checked to make sure the meat was locally sourced and Bisonmar. a local relaxtive of their universes Bison and they were bigger but tasted way better and she could see the light perk up in Dawns face when she took her first crispy bite.
"You need more weight on your frame Dawn, is this about Persephone, she didn't say anything did she?" Buffys soft mothering tone had really developed after Faith had spent the time teaching her how to secretly deal with Dawns moods and mannerisms. she silently prayed this conversation wouldn't go south like so many others had before, she was definetly Faiths little girl.
Dawn waved her arms and almost dropped her food but saved it at the last minute as she panicked to defend her girlfriend who hadn't said a damn thing, "No! no no no... Persephone keeps feeding me alot, i just... i wanna... well i don't wanna get fat and have her not be attracted to me. it's a me thing mum, Persephone is wonderful, in fact she's quite honestly the best thing that's ever happened to me" Dawn took a small bit of her delicious smelling food and Buffy found herself pulling the young girls loose hair back behind her ear and stroking her cheek lovingly.
"You are super powered and need to grow stronger, you should be hitting atleast 6 to 8 thousand calories a day, why do ya think me and Faith drink so many of those weird looking protein shakes from the sugar boy... filled with collagen too, great for the skin" Buffy couldn't help but chuckle as she realised how stupid and paranoid her daughter was being.
"Look, i just wanna be pretty for her, i know it's probably not a great idea but... i love how she looks at me, kinda don't want her to get bored ya know" Dawn gave Guffy a heartbreaking look as if she was really pouring her hewrt out and Buffy knew exactly how she felt. she got jealous of how ripped Faith was sometimes, didn't stop her from liking her rock hard abs but the jealousy was still there hone the less.
"You're never gonna get fat and ugly dumbass so eat everything your heart desires, the stronger you get the more you'll need to eat anyway. super powers are rough, thanfully they're permament and we can survive on 4 thousand a day without any real problems or issues" Buffy looked at the map and realised the bounty mark was hanging around a certain building, i looked like a bank he was either going to rob or he was scoping out for a future heist.
"Plus she seems to really worship you, you never acted like this with Spike... guess you found a good one, didn't think you'd go gay like us though... i was always into women way more than men, i was just trying to seem normal and lied to myself about loving Angel ya know" Buffy realised that was the most open she had ever been with Dawn and her face was the classic picture of a deer in the headlights but Dawn was just chomping away and hadn't noticed her mothers sudden shock at her own words.
"Well Faith told me the story once, how you both were all breathless and angsty, nervous and flirty... man i thought you were both idiots until i saw Persephone standing behind that old wooden bar... god i understood it all the moment she walked into my life, can't believe i stuttered and laughed like a hyena though... god i suck" Dawn mimiced a gun shooting her in the temple and turned to Buffy who gave her a disaproving look but knew where she was coming from.
"Man William was jealous, he knew i had fallen straight away, sex dried up... we started hanging out less ans then he turned human! and i didn't even care... d'ya know what my first thought was when he told me and we broke up? do ya?" Dawn asked and Buffy remained silent but nodded her head with a yes as she had felt similar with Faith over Angel.
"Thank god he's gone, nothings gonna stop me from kissing Persephone anymore. I even read her mind and she read mine, just to make sure it was real... Ruby said i was stupid and could of read our auras and seen everything i ever needed to know" Dawn finished her small snack and licked her fingers as buffy rose to join her and checked the map again while speaking softly as people paseed them by oblivious to their conversation.
"We read you auras... turquoise and a dark, very pretty purple... they mix like mine and Faiths, almost identically even" Buffy had shown her the hunts position on her map and Dawn nodded in understanding as they moved through lanes of people and would soon be in position for a positive identification and then a takedown if they were lucky.
"Man nosey overprotective parents much? you're lucky i love ya both. plus i like that you're both so paranoid, makes me feel safer" Dawn was speeding up as Buffy happily and with great ease kept pace while trying to explain herself.
"Look, she just kind of appeared out of nowhere and we thought maybe she was evil at first ya know... ya can't blame us for going full detective mode, you're our only daughter dummy and we have a Glorificus ro worry about coming summer time" Her blonde hair bobbed in the fresh wind blowing between the buildings.
"Yeah i know, but don't worry i was paranoid too, fought her flirting for a month before she finally broke me down and anyway, read her mind and she is wayyyyyy too brutally honest. when i say she had no interest in anyone before we met she was not kidding, she is antisocial as all hell" Dawn turned the corner ans zoomed in on the man sitting on a bench just out side of the bank who matched the bounty poster and description perfectly and pointed him out to Buffy but continued speaking normally as to not arouse suspicion.
"I like her being antisocial, i got picnics and all kinds of plans lined up too... alone though, kinda brought her a sundress and wanna well... look we both know what i'll be doing so lets just catch this loser and get back to the inn" Dawn blushed almost as hard as Buffy had at the realisation that 'yep, she's really fucking gay like me' crossed her mind and also they shared the exact same dressing up and laying claim to their girl fetish.
"...Man we are exactly the same when it comes to these things... anyway, we're getting chinese for dinner, ya still got alot of food to show Persephone and Makala told me of the perfect resturant to go to in this futuristic town for takeout, even called ahead for us so lets kick this guys ass" Buffy had known Makala for a year as he was a town gaurd who lived in this city of Naka,ma,la and happened to be quite the foodie which is why they got along so well.
Makala had constantly bothered Faith for her cookin after one day he followed his nose and arrived at their door and after a lengthy bartering process Faith promised to cook the town gaurd a feast if they got over 90 on their next marksman exams. unfortunately for Faith they all scored over 90 except Makala who scored a perfect one hundred. it turns out food is an amazing motivator when it smells as good as her wifes.
"Man, i can't wait to feed my beautiful girlfriend some new food, we're eating in your room though right? cause she is anti social and i kinda want her to know you both better, she doesn't have family so... ya know" Dawn walked off before Buffy could continue the conversation and she spoke to the mark who was sitting onnthe bench and jotting down notes innhis little black book.
He was a very well dressed man and kept a regal looking figure much like on his bounty picture, it was obviously him and he was so brazen about his thievery too, it wss a miracle the sheriffs hadn't pickedup on him until she got the faint smell of illusionary magic and her eyes adjusted to magical aura mode and realised his hat kept him hidden from all non magically blessed beings. thwt was why he was such a hard catch.
"Good evening Mr Omjima, get on the ground and put your hands behind your back, you have a reservation booked at the Sheriffs house and they are just dying to wait upon you hand and foot" Dawn used her silver Threaded cane to knock his hat back with great care and precision but also within the blink of an eye the hat had fallen ontp the floor behind him and disintegrated as she used her magic to destroy the magical artifact and that turned his mood sour.
"Those alarms are going to sound real soon Mr, get on the floor before i beat you silly" Dawn let out a cute playful giggle as he lunged at her and she plowed the handle of her cane into his right side of the ribcage. she then tripped him up and as he hit the floor she placed the end of her threaded cane against the back of his neck and tazed him into unconciousness. Buffy put her pistol back from a distance and was proud to see how quickly her daughter had become an adept bounty hunter. she was even stronger than a slayer now, which means the training had been paying off.
The Alarms went off and the area evacuated almost instantly as it was an effective method of protecting people when they all knew how to act when the sirens went off. The sheriffs would be here sokn and to stop a showdown from happening both women stood next to the knockedout perpetrator and held their ID's to the nearest cameras and after a few loud and annoying moments the sirens turned off butt the people were still advised to stay in lockdown until the criminal was taken into custody.
"You're getting better Dawn, i just hope Persephones doing well with Faith. you know how protective of you she can be, probanly giving her the dreaded 'talk' and putting thr fear of god into her... you violent little princess you" Buffy kept her ID in her hands as did Dawn and she sighed and stood lazily against her cane.
"Man i hope not, i just found her ya know... don't need Big Mama bear ruining my soulmates day being overprotective and all scary ya know" Dawn didn't even blink as Buffy flicked her on the nose, she just complained and moaned about how annoying it was to get nose flicked whipe waiting for sheriffs to pick up their quarry.
"Soulmate! when did you decide this? you're so young, soulmates lead to marriage and children and dropping out of school and stuff, you're not dropping out Dawn, you will finish your education, i aint mothering a high school drop out" Buffy was in full mother mode and Dawn knew she had to put a quick stop to that or get into an argument to best all their previous arguments.
"Didn't say i was, plus i can use a sending and illusion magic to go to school for me and stay here, just collect the information from it ever week and boom! same schooling. Ruby worked it out for me just in case something crazy happens in the future" Dawn didn't flinch as she saw the famous Buffy finger place itself before her eyes all accusatorily and she contined speaking before she gave her mother a chance to interrupt.
"Plus i figured out the Soulmate stuff pretty quick, somewhere between the fact i can't stop thinking bout her, all those secret kisses and taking her virginity... so yeah i'm invested in this ok, plus i wanna be a mum some day, just like you, just much cuter" Dawn watched the finger fall and an angry glance take it's place.
"I'm still way cuter! ask your other mother" Buffys face became an angry, annoyed little pout that was definetly cute but needed work to be anywhere near as cute as Dawns would be. atleast that's what Dawn told herself.
"Fine, but when we ask Persephone we're gonna draw an need a tie breaker dummy..." Dawn watched the sheriffs bound down the street with a carrier for the unconcious bounty at their feet and both women waved to them as they came into view. Dawn just wanted to get to the resturant and into the hotel as she was extremly hungry and deeply missed her women.

Dawn had arrived back with Buffy in tow and both were carrying an absoloute boat load of chinese food, it turns out Buffy had once saved the owners life without remembering when her and Rhino went to a small town last year and saved the locals from a wandering illusionary mage who had a penchant for stealing hearts. not just stealing them but then also eating said hearts before absorbing their still beating lifes essence to stay forever young and it was macabre to say the least.
Alas it had ended well for the family the half demon man had made although she had to explain her hand in marriage was off the table since she had married her girlfriend and was extremely happy. Dawn also avoided a marriage proposal by saying she had plans to marry her girlfriend too but Buffy shot that down damn quick.
They opened the door to their respective partners drinking tea and were shocked to see they weren't the first to return to the hotel inn, they even had time to make and steep tea. Buffy put her food down on the table and Dawn had to out the rest by on the free chair as they had so much damn food.
"Man, you guys were so slow, we are starving after all our hard work! can you believe we had time to brew tea. It's rough when you're this good at a job eh!" Faith gazed over to Persephone who was mockingly tutting and shaking her head from side to side.
