Chapter 29: The Three headed Medusa
The night was ice cold but that was normal for a january in Sunnydale, what wasn't normal was the blood red moon and the Snow that had appeared out of nowhere and was raging, howling through out the night that lay before the three magical women. it was going to be a cold January and the street lights they stood underneath were somehow making the white flakes which were falling like shredded confetti feel much colder under the pale light.
They were all dressed for the part of course, Willow had uncovered a really cool spell which would allow them to dress however they wanted and Buffy and Faith had decided to wear their usual attire just this time with leather gloves and a stylish scarf where as Willow had decided to go for a prove my spell works method and Wore only black leather boots and a very stylish blood red form fitting dress with long sleeves and all.
If anyone saw Willow walking around they would probably think she was mad walking around in weather that was more accustomed to being the norm in canada rather than california. Although the girls had to admit they were very warm and toasty and the spell apparently held for 24 hours unless dimissed and that made it pretty damn useful.
"Red! that warmth spell was a good idea but please tell me you have your guns with you as well as those preprepared spells you spent half the afternoon on" Faith didn't even have to wait for an answer as she summoned her Blood red Beretta into her right hand and struck quite the threatening pose as her hair flowed with the wind and the cold air bellowed from her mouth and nose, it made her look psychotically unhinged but maybe the crazy factor might make the Medusa think twice but she doubted it.
"And before you ask myself, Joyce and Tara have been practicing down the range regularly... and I have quite the shot according to our instructor, just don't expect me to Box the beast" Willow nervously giggled as Buffy nodded her head in understanding as she remembered how many time herself and Dawn had kicked her ass aroud the training room.
"You are getting better with your hand to hand Willow, but the plan isnto have you as support, at worse recue and at best... You're the big guns! thankfully Ruby thinks we're magically immune to the three heads effects but you can never know for sure so beam us out Scotty" Buffy cringed after a momentat her own Star Trek reference and even face palmed her forehead as she tried to punish herself for saying such a nerdy thing.
Faith however thought it was adorable her cute blonde bombshell of a wife loved Sci-Fi, puns and referential humor, they both loved good literature as well so it was a match made in heaven. "Man you're lucky i asked Joyce to tape the Episode tonight so we can watch it when we get back, my pretty little Trekkie was whining she had to kill a Medusa when she really just wanted to get undercovers and watch some good telly" Faith felt the ass slap come from a mile away but Willow just rolled her eyes and had become accustomed to their shared shennanigans these days.
"I managed to get her a first edition hardback of Pride and prejudice for christmas and i still get my ass slapped for tellin the truth, lucky me eh, Red!" Faith couldn't help but keep going because quite honestly she enjoyed the butt slapping and through their connection Buffy was well aware of it and giving her quite the sassy look back and that just made their secret internal dialouge even saucier to the point both were left blushing.
Willow knew they spoke in secret through their new powers and didn't even get annoyed by it as afterall it was part of their shared and growing powers, but sometimes the sudden silence did get awkward feeling and kinda odd. Willow was happy to get the show on the road and cleared her throat as nonchalantly as she could and that seemed to do the trick as both women turned and seemed to get straight back to the job.
"Right we are just off main street right now and we can summon a firefly light and add a tracker to it so we get led directly to the Medusa, Will get ya gun out and ya spells ready! beautiful wife of mine, get your rifle ouf and when we find it lay cover fire while i get close while unloading my rifle rounds and pistol into it, it that don't work i'm going medievil on it!" Faith grinned and nodded, Buffy acknowledged the plan and Willow set the locator spell on a freshly summoned firefly light.
The Snow picked up in speed and multiplied but the could easilt see and kept up with the now hastily moving firefly light which zigged and zagged through streets and alleyways for over 35 minutes until they found themselves nearing the docks and that was definetly an odd place for the Three headed Medusa to be located, unless it was hunting for food and tonight was a well known busy period for the dock boys.
Buffy knew it as well, Faiths thoughts had so clearly and unabashedly fired in her head as well thwt of course the monster would hunt at the docks and if it wasn't hunting then maybe Glories minions had complete control over it and were waiting for a shipment which wss alot worse. You never knew was drazed acolytes were planning for their masters and this was bringing up a hell of alotta red flags already.
Willow had to cast a spell of haste just to keep up with both ladies as they were jogging so fast she was absoloutly positive they had broken some kind of land speed record and maybe they should join the olympic sprint, boxing and weightlifting team but knew they would never want to do such a thing as it would bring too much attention and both women were very private people.
One of the warehouses were in view and the snow was now really laying down thick as they were wading through 2 foot of snow now and if it wasn't for the warmth spell Willow was sure they would be all suffering from pneumonia or at the very least a mighty cold that would leave them bedridden for days.
Faith noticed some activity as they made their way to the warehouse and could see the dock workers going ham trying to unload their cargo and get their work done for the evening, which was impressive for men without powers especially as they were unloading crates at record speeds while shouting commands and directions into the cold night air.
The snow was becoming a storm and the women all noticed the light shoot across the docks and into a dark looking side building with broken lights and a smashed window or two and a quick flash of light which dissapated uponncontact with the beast revealed the Medusa's three disgusting heads and her dark orange lizard like eyes gave Faith all kinds of spine tinglys and deep down sickly feelings.
"Well good to know i'm not a super sexy statue after locking eyes with that thing!" Faith gave a nervous chuckle as she turned to Buffy and Willow who hadn't seen the Medusa quite so clearly but were happy to hear it wasn't so bad afterall. Willow cast an anti petrification curse on herself as she was human and didn't have any purified angel powers to protect herself with and after she was done Buffy gave a suggestion.
"If the Medusa is waiting then we should also wait, we still don't know if it's hungry or waiting until the men have the boat unloaded for some reason" Buffy remembered the last time she was here and she wasn't exactly a big fan of docks after how unlucky she seemed to be around the ocean. But she had Faith with her and she was always safe whenever they visited the beach together, even when a crab pinched her ass and she ran about like a lunatic.
Happy memories aside Faith interrupted her thoughts and added her two cents, "We could wait and see what happens, we know the medusa is over their so i need you up high and perched, primed to lay down covering fire. Willow, you can fire from the ground and maybe throw some fireballs or lightning bolts or something" She turned To Willow who was summoning her blood red Beretta in her right hand and casting and holding a deadly spell in her left.
"I will be fine but what about you? are we just gonna wait and play it by ear?" Willow looked worried and a little panicked even though she hid it the best she could and Faith knew she would have to calm her down before anything could be done as rushing in guns blazing right now could get alot of innocents killed and after a short lookback at the workers she knew they weren't affected by any type of magic. they were just simply everyday hard working men.
"We need to keep the workers safe, they are not magically afflicted and we should pin this beast down before we strike, either it's hungry or is waiting for some type of delivery. Moment she strikes, we give her hell! ya on board Red?" Faith asked with a serious face and Willow nodded and watched as Buffy with inhuman, almost godly strength jumped up and easily reached the roof of the massive warehouse to set up a snipers perch in preparation.
"Holy shit, Buffy just superman jumped! looks like i might be asking Ruby for some enchanted trinkets soon..." Willow was joking but Faith actually uncharacteristically shot that down down quickly with a simple explanation.
"Ruby only made these enchantments for me, it is a specialized field and she won't do the really extreme magical work for anyone who she thinks will abuse it. i mean look what happens ro the weaker enchanted weapons we've come across before we fell through those portals... now imagine someone getting ahold of Rubys work" Faith saw the realisation set in as the red headed beauty remembered what people would do for the admitably pathetic mahical items in tuis dimension and how Rubys work really did put all tue items she had seen to shame.
"Yeah, Ruby could enchant things that would turn this world upside down in a matter of days, maybe i should leave my wonder women fantasy for the bedroom eh?" Willow said in an understanding but guilty fashion as she was only thinking about what she could get out of it and not the reprecussions of having such trinkets floating anout this dimension.
"Red with a whip, hell maybe i could convince her to make you a lasso of truth... man that'd be useful and pretty damn sexy, Tara would probably faint from excitement" Faith turned away from Willow and took her rifle from her back holster and readied the beautiful work of fine art in preparation for any possible attack that was incoming.
Buffy was listening through their mental connection and she agreed with Faith in her assumption that poor Tara would go crazy for a whip happy Willow and actually admitted to herself that if she was a single women she would also have really liked to see Willow in some tight lingerie and would bed her without a second thought. through their connection Faith agreed and both women agreed that the powerful witch was a beauty and the dress she was wearing right now was definetly distracting but the private admission between them both just brought them closer together as it turned out their tastes were very similar.
Willow smirked and found herself unexpectedly flirting with the married women "Sounds to me like you're the one who wants to see that, maybe Buffy too since you're both discussing it privately right now... maybe Ruby could enchant some lingerie for me too... for Tara of course" Willow bit her lip playfully but kept her obvious like of Faiths suggestion to herself although she was sure both women knew she had no issue thinking of her in a more mature light.
The married couple both agreed to calm down and reject the idea since both women had already decided to never share and wanted their relationship to remain private and sacred, temptation came in all forms and today it was a pretty red headed witch in a tight red dress. Buffy would have to watch Willows flirting as she knew both of them would never cheat since they shared space in a magically connected mind and considered their bond sacred... but one of them would definetly be turned into the red head with illusion magic and brutally fucked hard if she kept up the flirting.
"Man I thought we were all sneaky with the connection and Red, B says stop flirting cause we're married and it ain't an open type deal... but yeah i'll talk to Ruby, just try not to give Tara a heart attack. she's really nice" Faith continued watching the Medusa who she could barely see slithering in the darkness and also every now and then she scanned the area for any other possible threats of which there seemed to be none as of yet.
Half hour passed and the snow was up to their knees and the warmth spell was working overtime but they remained nice and cozy as the dock workers placed the last of the crates into the warehouses that surrounded the docks and called it a night, happily joking about cracking open a cold one before going home to the old 'ball and chain' among many things.
They were hidden behind a tightly packed wall the entire time that had old packing crates and metal containers stackednup against the warehouse wall, it had kept them hidden as the last of the workers left and they knew it was time to get to work. especially as the dark, unnaturally demonic orange eyes started to come out of the shadows and slither creepily into the freshly lain snow.
The three headed Medusa was awaiting a delivery and didn't care about the humans, it was smart and patient. A creature who knew not to make others suspicious and as she exited the shadows Glories minions walked in tow. They wore thick brown robes and had faces like pink colored goblins who were in dire need of a night time skin care routine.
Buffy asked Faith for confirmation before taking the shot and Faith told her to hold off until the beast and it's handlers got to the center of the docks as it made it a hell of alot harder for them to escape and would allow them ample time to slaughter Glories minions before making their move on the real threat.
Willow was going to fire spells and magical bullets from the distance and aid magically if everything went south, she had final say on the escape plans or possible rescue efforts as the Ex-Slayers had made it very clear she had final say on any decision as they both knew she was the best choice to protect this town or even the world when they were away and it was time to let her fly free with all the hard decision making.
A few of the little demon creatures started speaking out loud and the girls ears perked up as they let their plan out for everyone who happened to be listening to hear and judge them. especially as their plan had turned out to be kinda simple and very stupid in the long run.
"As Soon as we get hold of the trident of Poseidon those Slayers won't stand a chance before the glory of her magnificence! The Medusa will be unstoppable and we will make this dimension a paradise for our unrivaled Goddess of immaculate perfection!" The ugliest most puss filled little pissant was the one leading the charge and Faith had actually just heard enough as it was just some magical weapon again full of promises that would never be realised.
"Red, cover me and i can't stress this enough... aim for center mass and for the love of Freya, don't fucking shoot me ok!" Faith had her rifle readied and was about to rush after hearing Buffys first shot but Willow almost distracted them both by getting one last flirtation out and it almost threw them hoth for a loop.
"Why would i shoot you? I'm getting an enchanted whip and some lingerie after this! i obviously have to model them for you both, kinda rude if i don't" Willow winked seductively but it made Faith just roll her eyes and Buffy fired the first shot off and got a direct hit on the Medusa, it landed right between the eyes with a thunderous crack the made the minion shit the deck as Faith bounded across the snow covered dock with unholy speed.
Faith let off shot after shot of lava like shotgun rounds and they flew through the air in a well aimed scattershot that claimed the lives of over 9 minions in only 4 rounds fired. The medusa had caused Faith to change direction as it turned out the book was completly correct that she could shoot fire out of her eyes and the eye beams almost got her right between the eyes if her reaction time wasn't insanely responsive.
She ducked and weaved the blast as she fired mid recovery with one arm outreached and the other helping her maintain balance as she fired her backfoot off the ground as Buffy continued to let off thunderous blast after blast off and only manage to bruise her face and after 10 shot only lightly cut her brow. Faiths lava shots had a more immediate effect as it turned out heat based magic seemed to be able to stun her long enough to stop those god awful eye beams.
Willow was picking off the now scattered minions who had began to crawl away like the cowards they obviously were but her Blood red Beretta shot crystal shards like a machine pistol on crack and also exploded on impact for maximum damage. her spells on the other hand were aimed solely at the fast moving Medusa who was slivering around and dodging shot after shot like it was a light annoyance and at this point it obviously was simply that.
Faith stopped firing and mentally called Buffy down from the roof and The three headed Medusa said no words and simply stared at the tall wavy haired brunette who holetered her rifle and unsheathed her lengthy saber and prepared to engage. Buffy also holstered her rifle and unsheather her ice machete and had mentally made Faith aware she would aim to freeze her tail to the ground by chanelling her own magical energies into the blade and super charging the magic within to hold this giant snake woman at bay.
13ft of green and grey scaley snake woman was usually enough to strike the fear of god into anyone but this demon was something different and both women could sense it was so and Faith decided to play the same game as her wife and super charge her weapon and go for a hopefully brutal decapitation.
Willow was made magically aware of their plan and she held off all fire and magic in the hope they could both manage this battle as Willow was certain her gun and magic were still too little to deal with something of this demonic strength and that's when it hit her. Both are Greek, Medusa is Greek and so is the trident of poseidon and if Willow could get a hold of the trident before this creature did then maybe the would have a back up plan that could actually save the day.
She ran into the warehouse which had been locked but a quick spell had unlocked the bolt and cause the warehouse doors to swing open as Buffy used her almost godly speed to aim for the beasts long snake like tail as Faith met her head on and was forced to bob and weave her long and agile claws whilst her snake like hair hissed an eerie tune and it really did freak Faith out quite a bit.
Thankfully she managed to still herself and even managed to chop off a bloody scale clad grey finger which plopped upon the pale white freshly laying snow of atleast 4 foot and getting so high it would of actually become quite a pain to manoeveur about if she wasn't as physically enhanced as her powers and enchantments had afforded her over the years.
Faith was trading saber blows with the beasts claws but after awhile had actually managed to cut its left hand clean to the stump, the scream it left out was horrific but the scream the beast allowed to escape its lungs when Buffy finally drove her powered up ice machete was something both women were absoloutly sure the entirety of Sunnydale could hear as crystal clear as day.
Willow cast a quick locator spell to find the trident of Poseidon and after a few worrying of fruitless moments the light of the spell finally smashed against an upturned box and dissapeared in an instant and the redheaded witch knew shehad found what she was looking for and use a telekenesis spell to tear the box to shred and inside the destroyed packing crate was a trident of odd colored turqouise lined with old latin markings.
Willow picked up the trident and felt a terrifying power emnate from deep within but it wasn't evil which was a plus but it also wasn't good either. It seemed to have a soul of it's own and that was an uncommon prospect when dealing with enchanted items. But she felt as if she had to ask it's permission to be used and she did just that before picking it up, her hand hovering over the magical material benearh her soft finger tips.
"Please, let me use you for a moment and then i'll put you somewhere nice with a view, or hell maybe find a good owner for you... i know alot of heroes so maybe one of them would be a good trident wielder, just float up and enter my hands if yes, if not i have to go throw a ton of spells at that damn Medusa out there" for a few moments there was nothing and Willow sighed deeply as she considered what spells would be best to seal or obliterate a Medusa.
Before she could consider a good game plan the trident floated up into her palm and spoke to her kind in an oddly femimine, childlike voice "Use me this one and then i will greet your heroes. if one pleases me, i will be theirs. Now fight!" Fhe voice dissapeared and Willow was filled with such great magical energies she was buzzing like a meth addict on pay day and could not hide her excitement physically that she was about to save the day for once.
Buffy had left the machete which had formed a massive pillar of ice around the beasts tail and began to fire her C39 mauser into the beast at point blank range and it barely bruised the beast until she channeled he own magical eneries into the gun, which seemed to be only useful for cutting the beast slowly. it would be death by a thousand cuts at this point and Buffy really didn't want to spend all night trying to slowly kill this monster.
Faith was fighting the screaming, one handed torso which was wailing and blasting different elemental beams from all three of her heads but stopped when Faith finally managed to take her other hand by slicing across the middle of the beasts palm leaving only a bloodied stump and half a thumb behind.
Between dodging beams and barely managing to land many hits the bounty huntresses kept their weapons charged but began to cast an explosive spell each and Buffy went for a star wars esque 'Force lightning' like move that actually managed to hold the trapped beasts head down, forced into the snow covered concrete. Faith blasted the beast with constant blasts of heavy and razor sharp icicle shards again and again which actually managed to ugly up the beasts face quite a bit.
Before the huntresses could end the fight with an absurdly over charged saber strike to the head and an unhealthy amount of over powered magical pistol shots, Willow came running towards them at speeds she should not have been moving at and slid across the snow and buried two prongs of the trident into the beasts eye sockets and release a sudden blast of destructive ancient energy that tore the beasts entire body to shred in mere moments.
Faith powered down and Buffy cast a flamethrower spell against the ice block where the detached tail was also town to shred within the cold tomb of magical ice. Faith rushed over to Willow and brought her into a very strong but soft and caring hold that made Willow blush more than she normally would. it didn't help that she had secretly fantasized about both Buffy and Faith doing things to her and with her that her jewish upbringing definetly wouldn't consider 'Kosher'.
"Damn Red... looks like we owe you a whip, some lingerie and a private viewing! "I'll meet you at the magic box, tommorow at five. so go home and dream of all the things you wanna do to me, nothing is barred! use all your stength too, i can take it" Willow suddenly teleported away and it was to deliver the trident to Ruby.
