Refuge in Audacity (Original/Isekai Chapter 5)
My name is Aidan Vealfas Rowan Atlas Chavagner.
I am 13 years old.
I am the Crown Prince of Ereon.
And I kinda wish my life would go back to being boring now please.
The first month after subduing Lachynia, and getting her cock drunk loyal to me, I did nothing but try and calm everyone down.
It was like the mother of all panic fires erupted and I got my first political experience in everything being on "OH NO!" mode. The sheer amount of people I had to visit, tell them I was fine, explain and even show proof that Lachynia is now my wife and completely, or rather insanely, loyal to me.
Her tendencies of actually going ridiculously overprotective on me, and threatening to annihilate anything that so much as looks at me wrong, surprisingly was very helpful in the beginning.
Not so much afterwards, as she went nearly murderous on any female that so much looked at me (and I mean that in the very literal sense). When that jealously turned to Natalie and I had to take a week off, dedicated to make sure Lachynia understood how our relationship works.
"You belong to me. I'm a hoarder by nature, and that means I never let go of my possessions. No matter who else I'm interested in, I will never let you go. Oh, and Natalie? She's mine. You do not harm what's mine, Lachynia."
Admittedly, the fact that I have Sex Magic, from having fucked Lachynia so hard that she turned from a Demon King to a Demon Queen, also helped. I'v been discovered a lot of awesome way to use magic during sex lately.
Natalie was of course with us during that whole week, and demand the same "educational" treatment. It is also concerning that Natalie had been showing...more signs of feverish devotion to me. It is borderline maniacal.
Thankfully over time Natalie and Lachynia started interacting amiably. Although...
Should I be worried that my Yandere Demon Wife, and my Yandere Maid are friends?
...
Fuck it. Another problem for future me (man, that guy is gonna hate me).
It was only after I reassured my generals I was fine, that I had a moment to think on the news and the reaction, on the story of my "vanquishing" the Demon Queen.
The first issue I had to deal with was the military response. To be exact, I had to get my three generals on board with the idea that battling the demons is no longer be a strict necessity, and that some of our forces should be called back inward into the nation's border.
Monsters would still be a problem as they are just animals that absorbed a lot of mana, and mutated. Their number would dwindle since demons wouldn't be commanding them, but some would try and harm any settlement they find out of sheer instinct.
Back to my generals.
The first was the General of the Ground Troops, Duke Gabriel Lancelot Garmr Holdfast. Out of the three I like him the most.
Is it favoritism? Abso-fucking-lutly it is.
The Ground Troops are made up of Guard Knight Legions. Guard Knight unlike what the name implies, are not a defensive force, in fact in their fighting tactics they don't employ shields and it is heavily frowned upon for one to use a shield in their knight order. Either you have another sword in hand, use another weapon, or using magic, use both hands on a great sword or whatever, it is fine as long as you put your whole being to being on the attack.
The Guard Knights are the one who hold the line. The last line of defense. They are the troops that if monsters finally managed to reach, no matter their number or their strength, their march ends. They took the idea of 'the best defense is a good offense' and embodied it to the extreme.
And they are so fucking cool!
Seriously, one time when I was seven, I begged William to adding visiting the Guard Knight camps, when I had to do those touring field trips around the nation, to get to know my country. Nice policy made by previous royalty, as it did get me to actually see my land and people, and also, it did get me the fuck away from my Caretaker for a few months, as the bitch was too uptight to go where monsters and dirt was.
While there, a demonic invasion force of four thousand managed to reach them. While my attendants and bodyguards were panicking, Duke Gabriel not to worry, left us with one of his second-in-command, Oliver Westwind (that was actually the first time I met him), and went and stood side by side next to his troop in one uniform line, made up of five rows, separating us from the oncoming horde.
I still remember it till this day.
It was 70 men versus 4000 assortment of demons and monsters. I don't remember the specific reason why there were only seventy troops protecting this one area, but when I asked Duke Gabriel about it later on, he said because they were enough.
And they were, because what happened next, well...
Have you every seen what happens when you put a tree in a woodchipper?
Yeah, it was basically that.
The enemy was cut down so fast, they never got a chance to clash the human soldiers. Any flying opponent was shot down by so many weapons or magic, they burst like a balloon of blood and gore. They would use the bodies of their enemies as throwing weapons to bludgeon other oncoming forces. Sometimes if a soldier didn't have a bow & arrow, or a spear, or out of mana, they would chuck their sword through and flying monster, and while waiting for it to come back down, they would one-shot a demon with punches or kicks.
I still remember the thought that crossed my mind, when I first saw this, till this day.
'HOLY FUCK! I HAVE AN ARMY OF MAGIC SAITAMAS!! YYYEEEEEAAAAHHHH!!!'
The fact that my head I didn't explode from sheer hype is still a mystery to me.
And to that that Gabriel was the most loyal and obedient out of my generals.
When I told him to get back to discuss how much of his troops will be left at the border, due to the new situation with the Dark Region. He came back with most of his troops, leaving on the essentials there aiding the soldiers of the other generals.
When I asked why he did that, and if he was worried I might have miscalculated the demon country situation, and more demons would now attack since I took their ruler, he simply told me:
"A knights duty is to fulfill their king's wishes, and protect him through all. For a good king, a knight should carry any burden or mistakes they make, so their chances to bring prosperity to the kingdom would rise. Even if you make a mistake relating to the Dark Region's reaction to this new situation, I will protect you and remove all demons once more. If the Guard Knights fall, it would only be our fault for being weak."
"Gabriel, that's insane and unreasonable, you can't carry the responsibility of everything a king does. What if I was a tyrant?"
"The realm of 'what if' is useless to ponder. What I see with my eyes is that you are young and unwise, that will be fixed with time and experience, but beyond that, I know you will be a kind king, and for that I will give you my everything."
...I have the biggest mancrush on this guy, and if I was a chick I would so bang the fuck out of him.
Next, we have the General of the Air Forces. Yes, in this fantasy land, I have an Air Force, made up of mostly Wyvern Riding Knights--There are other Riding Knights like the Griffin Riding Knight etc, but the Wyverns are the most prevalent.
I have a dragon riding army, why the fuck didn't anyone tell me that!?
Well, wyverns, but the point still stands, they are an order of knights that tames flying monsters, and use them to fight in the air.
Sadly, the thought of this part of the army came with dread and not hype, as it was lead by General Duchess Verena Soren Tarasque Westwind.
She's actually Oliver's older sister, but he joined the Guard Knights, rather than her Riding Knights, and I understand why you did that Oliver. I understand why so very much.
"Ohmygoddess! You're so cute! What's your name little boy?"
"I'm, I'm Prince Aiden--Seriously, you don't know your own prince?"
"Sqeee, your so adorable. I'mma taking you home with me."
"Help! Help! She's kidnapping me!"
Yeah, that was my first time meeting her. Duchess Verena is...affectionate to those she cares about and cute things. From then on, any message of report she sent me, would be written as if writing to a baby and there was always pieces of candy accompanying her letters. I would really wish she would stop doing that, and treat me--her bloody prince--as an adult, or just not like a baby. The candy is surprisingly top quality though, she spared no expenses on the sweets she sent me.
One time when I was nine years old, I was on another tour of the kingdom, and I had to visit where she was stationed, as I had to get to see my air force at least once. I was dreaded seeing Duchess Verena again after that first meeting, and thus postponed this visit as much as I can.
When I arrive at her camp, the Riding Knight were in the middle of skirmish. I saw her flying on her mount, Redfall, as she tore through the enemy forces like a butcher. At times jumping off her wyvern, slashing a monster mid-air, put a magic bullet in another, land on a flying demon rip his throat with her teeth while they were falling, and then jump away, to land on Redfall who would swoop in and fly with her again.
When she landed in front of my escort with a wide bloodstained grin, after bisecting a wild manticore, and landing on one knee as the monster's falling corpse made it seem like it was raining blood.
That was my first crush.
"Oh no! A-aidan. This, this isn't what it looks like. This, this is just--Grape juice, that's right. Grape juice. N-n-not that I bathe in grape juice, that's just ridiculous. It, eeem, it was a prank--No party, with grape juice thrown around as a joke. Isn't it funny? And um, the reason monsters and demons are around, aaah, they were also invited. Don't worry, those meany monster and demons are just asleep, okay? Totally not dead."
And just like that it was gone.
"Verena, I can see the body parts."
"They're all stage magicians!"
Woman, there is a limit to how much you can baby someone!
Seriously, I know Verena means well, but fuck is it frustrating to deal with her.
She had the most violent reaction, when she heard the royal castle was attacked by the Demon Queen, and it took all her underlings to not get her to leave in the middle of a battle to come get me, and just gave her brother a wyvern and sent him instead.
I appreciate her loyalty, really, but she was the biggest headache in showing everyone that Lachynia is on my side and obeys me. When reports of how I subdued Lachynia reached her, well, she turned murderous.
She entered the meeting in the throne room, by bulldozing through the door making a Verena-shaped hole before the door broke apart, wearing her full battle gear, and her sword blazing with her aura.
"WHERE IS SHE!? WHERE IS THAT WHORE--Excuse my Old Lancasterian, Aidan. It means 'bad girl' but please don't repeat it--THAT DARE CORRUPT MY CUTE AND PURE PRINCE!!" Verena roared and screamed, and quite literally in the middle of her rant, stopped to give me an "explanation" on what 'whore' means and not to repeat it, before continuing.
This woman is so bipolar it's frightening. Seriously, just get a husband and have a baby already, and stop bothering me.
At least I would say that, if it wasn't for the fact that she's terrifyingly good at her job, and is able to completely secure any area she occupies.
And finally there's the General of the Cavalry, and my biggest problem. Archduke Marcus Georgios Alcides Bahamut Chavagner, my great uncle.
He was the leader of the Sleipnir Mounted Knights.
Sleipnir. There are sleipnirs in this world, and I have a whole third of my military compose of using those badass mythical beasts to travel along the border securing any location as needed, supplementing other military divisions and actively look for and engage demons and monsters that arrive near our borders.
Admittedly, they were discount sleipnirs that have six-legs rather than eight, but they were still fucking awesome.
Sadly...that was the only good thing I liked about my uncle.
In all my life till now, I only ever met him once. It was the first touring trip I did around my country when I was six years old. He looked at me, said one sentence and left.
"Hello, nephew. I'm your uncle. My job is protect this country from demons. Your job is to sit on the throne, look pretty and not die. And in the future, have a kid so there would always be a Chavagner on the throne. If you can do that much, I will be satisfied."
That was it. That was the extend of my interaction with him, and I have not seen since.
More than Gabriel or Verena, when he heard there is the chance that fighting with the demons can finally end, he completely rejected it.
He's been fighting the Dark Region for over seventy years, meaning even back when the war was still on going. He's been fighting since my father was a baby. For him, I imagine the constant riding and battling to be his everyday routine in life.
For Gabriel, I only had to order him and he brought back all his troops, beyond a few hundred to hold back any monster horde, or rebellious demon from invading (sadly not all demons instantly followed Lachynia's command).
For Verena, I had to spend an hour constantly shouting her down, stopping her from trying to stab Lachynia, stopping Lachynia from incinerating her, and just desperately trying to get them both to calm the fuck down.
At the moment, my Generals, my wife and I were in the throne room. I had used my Authority to conjure some chairs and a round table, just so we would have something between us. A servant had brought drinks earlier that all of us forgot and ignored.
"You vile, evil temptress! I will not let you defile my Prince's innocence! Or trick and betray him!"
The second statement should have been your first concern, Verena.
"'Betray'? That is far more likely to come from wretched humans like you. I merely wish to serve my beloved and fulfill his every desire."
"Aha! Do you see Aidan? She thinks humans are wre--Wait, why did you call Prince Aidan, 'beloved'?"
"Why not? For his is my one true love. I long for nothing more than to be by his side. To see his smile, to hear his laugh. It is his face that I wish to see when I first wake up, and the last thing before I sleep. It is him who had brought light into my life, and joy in my heart."
Wow, um, that...intense. I'm actually feeling my cheeks heat up a bit. Even Verena was taken aback by Lachynia's words, and affect it by them like me.
"...Ah, I see. It was through love that you came to serve under him. Prince Aidan is the embodiment of purity and virtue, so I understand that."
Whose she talking about? No, really, who is she talking about?
"Of course, I serve him with my mouth sucking his cock every morning, or under his desk whenever his stressed. And at those times, he would even bend me over and take me like the cumslut I am. He had bloated me so deep and my body is forever in the shake of his magnificent dick, acknowledging it only exists for his pleasure."
And the heartwarming moment is gone.
"I will disembowel you!"
Wow. I have never seen a human's eyes bleed fire, or for someone to turn lit their sword with napalm through sheer magical aura. Usually people just use Fire Magic for that, but at that point why bother coating your sword with it, it would just damage the blade's structure. I heard this move was something Verena does a lot on the battlefield. Wonder how she keeps her blade's integrity so it doesn't get crushed by her own power?
Oh right, I should probably to break them up before the room is destroyed.
"Gabriel, you take care of the Duchess, I'll deal with Lachynia."
"As you command, your Highness."
"Lachynia, sit!" I shouted.
There was a chair next to me, that my demon wife instantly sat in looking down demurely with a sorrowful expression. She looked sad at the mere thought of displeasing me.
I wasn't sad, but I was annoyed that this meeting is taking so long, before it even began.
Gabriel thankfully was able to physically hold down Verena, but I suspect that he hand an easily time, only because she was so focused on Lachynia.
"I see. I heard rumor on my way to the capital. I thought it was an odd joke that was mutated many times from retelling. To think you can command a Demon King. This has potential." My Great Uncle Marcus spoke for the first time.
By this point, Gabriel just paralyzed Verena, strapped her to a chair, and cast Quiet on her so her screaming doesn't interrupt the meeting.
"Demon Queen actually. And I mean that not just as in gender, but as in my first wife." I explained.
The room grew quiet, and I was almost shocked by the sheer icy killing intent that filled the room.
"Nephew, I fear my hearing might be affected in my age. Did you just say that you would let a demon rule over Ereon?" The words were calm, and where like a Damocles sword raised over me.
Thankfully Lachynia was doing something from being near me, that allowed me to shake off Uncle Marcus's aura without a problem.
"No, that's why I will get a human wife, or well an Ereonian to help me rule here, while Lachynia will continue ruling over the demons and stop their attacks. That way the skirmishes will end, and real peace can begi--"
Uncle Marcus scoffed.
"Oh the innocence of children. Or maybe because you finally got your dick wet, you just don't want to be bothered by battle? Either way, you can relax. Just let me have your toy to point at a few demon cities every once in a while, and you can sit here without worry about the fighting. This war can finally be won." Uncle Marcus grinned, and my stomach twisted from the bloodlust he was emitting.
"Uncle, the war has been over for thirty years." I replied slowly trying not to let pity enter my eyes. "There are somethings that need to be worked out, but for the most part, in the coming years the fighting will stop, the soldier can come home and we'll only have to worry about wild monsters."
"Ha!" When he laughed like a madden hound, I started to get the idea that concept like 'peace' or 'sentimentality' wouldn't appeal to him. "The war is over? That is just what those fat idiot we call Nobles, sitting on their asses with their money and unearned titles and glory say to appease themselves and the ignorant masses." He slouched in his chair, resting his head against his raised fist. "The war is still ongoing boy. This is merely the calm before the storm." He said mockingly, laughing to himself. His eyes made be feel like I would drown in the blaze within them, if I look for too long.
"Not if I stop it from becoming that." I replied back, with as much determination as him. "Rather than a spark that would grow into a bigger flame, this could be the dowse to finally put it out, and end this fighting. We can't live on war forever, Uncle!"
"Oh great, you're also a poet. Not only a pacifist." He spoke the word like it was the most disgusting thing he had ever seen. "But only a flowery pretty boy, that thinks he can charm those around him with beautiful, yet ultimately useless empty words. I swear, is everything those Almond Caretakers teach is worthless trash?"
"My...Caretaker had died last month."
"Really? And you didn't get another one? Someone's balls dropped."
I felt my eyes twitch and held it in. He's family and he's older. I grabbed Lachynia to stop her from moving. Even without looking, I could tell she had murder in her eyes, giving Uncle's challenging expression, and satisfied look when I controlled her.
Verena however was shaking in her chair, and trying to jerk herself to move it till she reached Uncle Marcus, and I presume headbutt him for speaking like that with me.
"There are rumors that Rhedia Almond, along with a leader knight, sacrificed their lives to protect his Highness from an assassination." Said Gabrial.
"Now that doesn't sound like those weaseling opportunists." Uncle Marcus sat up.
"That's because I killed Rhedia and that knight died due to a personal offense." I calmly explained.
"WHAT!?" Oh, looks like Verena managed to break the Quiet spell. "Don't, don't tell me. Aidan, you...arranged an assassination?" She looked so heartbroken that I actually felt bad about clarifying.
"No. I stabbed her right through the heart, in here in the throne room, and then told the leader knight to kill himself or I end his entire family."
Reactions were varied. Marcus blinked a few times, then looked at me like he was seeing me for the first time. Gabriel look the tiniest bit sad but patient, likely hoping I had a good reason. And Verena...
"Nooooo! It can't be! My cute prince can't be a murderous tyrant!" She wailed out like theater actor playing a widow.
"Everita give me strength." I muttered, while pinching the bridge of my nose, and mentally counted down from ten.
"Well now," Uncle Marcus leaned forward, resting his forearm on the table. "To think there was actual bite behind that peace-seeking naivety."
"Was there a reason for you to execute your Caretaker, my lord?" Asked Gabriel.
"Her actions has cause a lot of harm," I sighed and answered. Best not to mention Natalie now. I don't know how Verena would react and Uncle Marcus worries me too much for him to have that information. "She had actively hindered and at times stunted my development and growth. Be it as a warrior or as a ruler. She had hampered by ability to learn how to be a king, under the guise of me 'not being mentally ready', 'not being old enough', or--and this is the fun one--'knowing what's best for me'. So yeah, I had enough of a good reason to kill her."
"And the leader knight." Gabriel prodded.
"Chief conspirator."
"I see." Gabriel looked relieved.
"I knew it! It was that Demon Queen who caused you to act so viciously!" And Verena seems to have heard something completely differently.
"No, that was actually a month before I met Lachynia." I sighed.
"Hehehe, it was the most joyous day of my life. Aaa~ I remember how you broke me, my love. Conqouered my mind, body and soul. Forging me from false king self, to a queen to answer your every need." Lachynia giggled besides me. "Forever and ever and ever..."
I couldn't help the shiver that ran up my spine from her ramblings.
"Anyways..." I turned to see everyone looking at me in degrees of surprise. Gabriel had his eyes closed in that 'they grow up so fast' look. Verena was wide-eyed shell-shocked, and Uncle Marcus just raised an eyebrow. "Look, it was a heat of the moment thing. I had no plan or way to win, so I just wanted to stunt her. It worked and then I just...kept going because it wasn't like there was an option where I win if I stop and well," I pointed to Lachynia. "This is the result."
After a moment of silence my great uncle spoke. "As entertaining to hear that is, let's get back to the point. You are not pulling back the army because of some lovedrunk phase. All hands are needed at the border, and now having the Demon Queen we can go on the offensive."
I took in a breath and calmly let it out of my nose. Ignore the disregard for my authority. He is family, he's my uncle, and from his point of view I'm just his young inexperienced nephew.
"You do realize you're asking her to kill her subjects, right? That's a bit messed up." I said.
"I'm not asking her, I'm telling you to order her." He said back. I didn't ball my fist, but I pushed my finger a bit against the table to hide my frustration. "A Demon King, or a Queen as it is, isn't necessarily some loyal subject of the Dark Region. They are a ruler due to power, but more often than not, they are used as a weapon by the high ranking demons with that country."
I blinked in surprise at that. "Is that true?" I asked Lachynia.
"Hmm," she nodded. "A Demon King is born for the sake of the demon race. It is only natural they would answer the wishes of the demon leaders." She looked at me with her loving eyes and smiled. "But now, I love only to answer yours, my king."
"You make it sound like you just went along with it, just because you didn't have anything better to do." I commented.
"It was." For a moment, she looked pained as she said that, but it was instantly over afterwards. Only her calm placated smile remained.
I...I really don't know much about Lachynia's past, don't I? I'm really gonna have to fix that later on.
"See? Now this meeting seems to be coming to a clos--" Uncle Marcus said beginning to stand.
"We are not done."
"You can not talk to the prince that way." Verena stood up, glaring at my great uncle.
"We are. We'll all return to the border and finally end this war." Uncle Marcus replied, now standing, looking bored, annoyed and ready to leave.
"We had been fighting for years. Maybe trying his Highness way, might give a better result and more security to our nation." Said Gabriel. "If it fails, we already know how to operate with how things are now."
"Always the loyal lapdog aren't you, Holdfast?" Uncle Marcus chuckled. Gabriel didn't seem bothered by this words.
"You goddess damn barbarian warmonger! Prince Aidan is right, why should we restart the war? And what? Should we start following you?" Verena ranted.
"I'm telling you! We are not invading. We don't need to fight like that and restart the war." I started to explain what I wanted to happen.
"I simply act to protect king and country. Or is that duty something you forgot?" Said Gabriel standing up as well.
"I am protecting my country. Everything I do is for my country," Uncle Marcus said to Gabriel before turning to Verena. "And what the hell do you suppose we do? A Demon Queen is right here! Even if she's on our side, her existence means all the Dark General will start to mobilize. It isn't going to be the usual shit we deal with. We need to prepare and invade them first!"
"We don't need all our forces at the border now. They won't invade. There queen is on our side, and she is literally the most powerful of them. They won't attack in from loyalty to her, and if not then fear of facing her." I cried out.
"Do you want me to end this bickering, Aidan?" My demon wife said from my side, still seated, and holding onto my sleeve. I motioned for her to do nothing and focused back on my Generals.
"I won't leave my post. And unlike you two, I stand till the threat is gone, not idly move around on the whims of a child." Said Marcus heatedly.
"You dare disrespect my beloved." Lachynia stood with murder in her eyes and aura, focusing solely on Marcus who ignored her, safe in the knowledge that I would stop her from acting out, but his hand on his sheathed sword all the same.
"Don't you dare insult the Prince! He already soaked him hands with blood to fix this country. We should follow his plan so he never has to be forced into such actions again." Cried out Verena.
"Yes, you will still be stationed there Uncle, but for the most part, I need most of the army back to fix things in the kingdom!" I shouted out, standing at well.
"Child or not, we obey the King of Ereon." Said Gabriel looking irritated for the first time.
"Don't you dare insult the Prince! He already soaked him hands with blood to fix this country. We should follow his plan so he never has to be forced into such actions again." Cried out Verena.
"He is not yet King." Growled out Marcus.
"He is mine." Said Lachynia passionately.
They ignored me. My Generals, and they were arguing in front of me, while acting like I'm not even there. I am a child yes, but to completely forget I was here, that was unbelievable, and Lachynia wasn't helping getting in on the fight.
"And it seems he didn't tame you well yet." Said Marcus.
"That was uncalled for." Said Gabriel, scowling.
I felt the anger. The rage from that day when Rhedia acted out and hurt Natalie. If this continued I wouldn't be able to hold or protect anything.
"Your actions are doing nothing but cause cute Aidan heartache."
"Bah! Always a self-righteous stuck-up, and you an idiot with nothing but strength and fervorness for the useless on your mind."
"Cute things aren't useless!"
"I follow only my beloved's command. You do not order me, no one ever will again."
"Enough!"
All that wrath came exploding out, not as a loud shout, but as a deep command. Silence cut through the room, ending the bickering noise of before.
"Let me make this clear. You are my Generals and you listen to me. Not the other way around." I spoke with measured words and focused tone. Even Verena who started to say something, shut up from a glare from me. "Lachynia, right now in the Dark Region, how many of the Dark Generals followed you and how many went against?" I spoke.
"Of the current four, two obeyed without question, and two refused." Lachynia answered hastily in worry from my demeanor, and also in fear that her answer disappointed me.
"Good. Better than expected." I said, as I revised my plan on how to manage the army in my mind. "Duchess Verena, Duke Gabriel, you will keep your troops here. Only have a quarter head back to aid Archduke Marcus hold the line," then I turned to the General of the Cavalry. "And that is all you will do. Hold the line. If you step forward and cross their borders, if you ever try to start an invasion, you will be considered a deserter and treated as such. I understand that even one Dark General sending enemy troops for guerrilla attacks, and reconnaissance prodding is troubling to constantly fight against, thus you will only send one fifth of your troop back here for redistribution."
"Even if the attack lessen with two general out of the running. Without these's twos full aid," Archduke Marcus gestured to his fellow Generals. "I would still need all my--"
"You seem to have misunderstood, General." Apparently, cutting him off was so surprising, he didn't have time to get mad. "That wasn't a request. You will send a fifth of your forces back here. Do you understand?"
"..." The way he was looking at me, was the way someone was thinking on how to deal with something, that was never a problem before. I didn't give him time to think.
"Do. You. Understand?"
"...Yes, your Highness. I understand--" He seemed like he was about to say something else, offer some objective where he had a point. I didn't give him that ground to stand on.
"Of course, I realize how perilous your position will be with this new change, and thus to make things easier one you." I turned to the Demon Queen. "Lachynia."
"Yes, my Lord?"
"Kill one of the rebellious Dark Generals and bring me their head."
"At once, Master!" With the words out of her mouth, she disappeared. I felt the window open behind me, and wind moving toward it.
"...Why only one?" Asked General Marcus.
Insurance, I thought.
"Precaution." I said. "Dark Generals are the leaders and authority figures of the Dark Region. Remove too many would cause a small period of chaos followed by an incentive and concentrated, organized effort for them to attack us, out of fear that this is an assassination of their heads of state, rather than a disciplinary action of their Queen." I explained. "Also as I am technically Ruler of the Dark Region, I need to gain their public support on my side, so that when I actually make policies from them, they listen and obey. For that, I need an opponent to beat down."
"You thought about this a lot." He commented.
"More than the whims of a child." I coldly replied.
General Marcus said nothing back.
[Gained Trait: King's Presence]
Twenty minutes later Lachynia came back with the head of the Werelion, Karakoruth Alba, Dark General of the Roaring Carnage Makers.
General of the Cavalry stared for a long moment, at the head of an enemy that used to batter and break his army formation and troops, no matter the strategy used against him, causing massive lost even at the best of circumstances. Archduke Marcus nodded accepting my reforms, and left.
When I asked Lachynia how she managed to go to the Dark Region, kill a Dark General, and come back so quickly, she simply said:
"I just went above the atmosphere and then re-entered the planet aiming at Karakoruth's castle. I did the same coming back. That's how I made it to your castle without anyone noticing, you know."
Wow. That is some fucking terrifying thing to think about. There is nowhere on Almorria you can run from the Demon Queen. Yay.
Either way, one headache down. Many more left to deal with.
