Twin Outings

Aqua had spent some time in her room where she fed some Bio-Nutrients to her plant, and she was setting up her new game console on the table with the TV.

"All right, now we can play games!" Gatomon said smiling

"Yeah, when we have nothing else to do" Aqua said nodding.

Aqua decided to now head over to Beacon district and see what Galla and Gardine wanted.

As Aqua arrives at the station she finds the homeless man again who is in his alternate personality again. He sees her and says "What do you want, kid? You're going to get hurt if you hang around here at night too often."

"I'll be careful" Aqua said nodding to him.

"Yeah, that's what you say, but you're not actually going to do it, are you?" The homeless man said "People can talk all they want, but they'll do whatever dark things they want to do. Look at Lysandre."

Aqua nods and heads to where the doorway to the Velvet toom was. There she finds Galla and Gardine waiting for her.

"So, you've come, Inmate" Gardine said smiling.

"You're late!" Galla said annoyed "Next time we expect you in front of us within two seconds of our calling!"

"We've got some new duties lined up for you." Gardine said with a nod. "Let's call them 'special assignments'! To the point: there are a number of places in your reality's society that may foster your rehabilitation. You will prove the value of these places to us-in person."

"I see, so how would these work?" Aqua asked

"We will select various locations that we suspect could be vital to your rehabilitation." Galla explained. "Should you recognize a place that we mention, then you are to escort us there."

"So you want to go explore?" Aqua asked them.

"Are those ears of your just for decoration?" Gardine asked deadpanned "These are special assignments for the sake of your rehabilitation. Work just as hard at them as you do the rest of your duties. We will await you in front of the door-like this-whenever a special assignment is available."

Galla grins and said, "Should you meet our expectations, we'll scrape together some sort of reward for you-so no slacking off!"

"We ought to mention: these special assignments will not be available indefinitely." Gardine added "To phrase it for your comprehension, you will have until the end of the year to complete them. You are also required to continue working towards your rehabilitation to earn these assignments."

"We're really going out of your way for you here-don't tell us we never did anything special for you!" Galla added firmly.

"That concludes our explanation." Gardine said nodding "We will no introduce the first special assignment-are you prepared?"

"Yes, I am prepared so what is the first stop?" Aqua asked.

"Then listen closely." Gardine said looking at her virtual clipboard in her robot arm. "The first location we have chosen is…one that has grown quite popular lately. It's purported to offer foods that simulate the feeling of being in space."

"The food is apparently massive enough to rival the size of the universe itself and resemble a mysterious spacecraft." Galla added. "It was also described as happy in a way."

"If this food exemplifies both the unknown and the vast nothingness of space, it is sure to stimulate the heart, especially if has positive happy feeling." Gardine said with a nod. "Does this description bring any locations to mind?"

"Well? If you know where it is, then escort us there immediately!" Galla told Aqua.

'Hmmm…from that it could be the Joyful Big Bang Burger over in Beacon…' Aqua thinks about it.

"So, what'll it be?" Galla asked her.

"You mean Joyful Big Bang Burger?" Aqua asked them.

"Joyful Big Bang Burger? The name is fitting I suppose." Galla said with a nod.

"We shall confirm our intel for ourselves. Lead the way." Gardine said with a smile.

Aqua nods and takes them to Joyful Big Bang Burger. They got a booth seat and Aqua orders some drinks and also the signature Joyful Big Bang Burger for the twins to look at.

"Well, it is indeed shaped like a mysterious craft, but it's much smaller than I had expected." Galla said a bit unimpressed.

"Is this the meal they boasted to be as immense as the cosmos? I'm quite-disappointed." Gardine said a bit sad.

"Hey, Inmate-you don't really expect some kind of reward out of this, do you?" Galla asked looking at Aqua.

"Relax it's the Big Bang Challenge you're looking for" Aqua said to them.

"So humanity intends to generate its own universes now, does it?" Gardine asked surprised.

"We've had enough of your smart remarks! Know your place, Inmate!" Galla said glaring.

"Calm down I am not being disrespectful…" Aqua said and then explains to both of them what the Big Bang Challenge was.

"Oh, so they can get THAT large?" Galla said surprised.

"The Big Bang Challenge…What an intriguing concept." Gardine said smiling. "For the sake of your rehabilitation, you are to take this challenge. Of course, you will take the largest they offer."

"Wait what?" Aqua said surprised at that.

"Any objections, Inmate?" Galla asked her.

"Okay, I got this. Luckily I have already started and got to the final one of the challenge anyway" Aqua said though she was unsure she can finish it in time.

"If anything, I'll respect your confidence." Galla said smiling "You better not disappoint us!"

Aqua ended up taking the Big Bang Challenge. A bit later Larry came out with the burger and Aqua was shocked at the tower burger that was bigger then the Comet Burger and Gravity Burger combined.

"Thank you for waiting!" Larry said smiling

"Whoa…Now that is some daunting mass…" Galla said surprised.

"Well then, it's time to get the thirty-minute Big Bang Challenge started! Ready…Begin!" Larry said and started the clock and leaves.

"The last burger was downright insignificant by comparison…" Gardine said in shock.

"It's bigger than the Inmate's entire stomach…" Galla added with a nod. "Perhaps the moniker implies that any diner's stomach will suffer its own Big Bang?"

"I knew I was getting ahead of myself; I feel I will pop if I do this right now" Aqua said gulping.

"Complaining before the challenge has even begun…Perhaps one could say you don't have the guts for this?" Gardine said thinking.

"Just so you know, even if you do pop, we won't feel responsible." Galla told her.

"I predict this challenge shall be a fairly difficult one…" Gardine said nodding

"Be that as it may, you must finish the food tower in its entirety. Failing to join the clean plate club is a grave offense…" Galla explained to Aqua with a smirk "Do you think it's a good idea to add even more crimes to your record? Get to the rehabilitating, Inmate?"

"Alright, here goes" Aqua said nodding and picks up the ridiculously large burger and begins to eat it.

"Hmph, not a bad start." Galla said smiling.

"But you've only just begun…" Gardine points out.

Aqua sweats a bit and thinks 'I'm already full…' She was beginning to slow down.

"You're stopping?" Gardine asked surprised.

"Who said you could stop?! No breaks! Work that jaw!" Galla said to Aqua to motivate her.

'My stomach is going to burst…' Aqua thinks worried and feeling like she was going to pass out.

"Hmm, don't her eyes look rather…dead to you?" Galla asked Gardine.

"Perhaps she is glimpsing the vast emptiness of outer space?" Gardine said thinking.

"Uh…hey…Is she really all, right? She's not about to keep over, is she?" Galla said concerned.

'I don't think I can finish…' Aqua thinks worried feeling wobbly.

"I think she's about to pass out." Galla said worried.

Gardine thinks and says "…It appears this truly was too much for her to handle. Very well, let us pitch in."

"You're hopeless, Inmate." Galla said shaking his head "You'd better be grateful that we're bailing you out of this!"

A while later the burger was done, Gardine and Galla were sitting in the seats fine but Aqua was lying on the table resting to recover. Sadly they didn't eat in time though.

"Phew…We did it." Galla said smiling. "I have to say, you really held your own there."

"You almost didn't make it though, but we'll call this a success since your stomach didn't burst." Gardine said with a nod. "I must say through, I'm rather dissatisfied with this place's usage of the moniker 'Joyful Big Bang Burger.' They certainly craft a meal of impressive size, but when compared to what the big bang generated, it's not grand in the least. Do mortals have some sort of compulsion for exaggerating the size of things?"

"Good question. In fact, this challenge raises quite a few of them." Galla said thinking and looks to Aqua asked "You took the challenge for the sake of your rehabilitation, but who in their right mind would willingly consume so much food? Maybe I don't understand mortality at all…Say, Inmate: why are humans always testing and pushing their limits?"

"Well, they do it as a sort of training." Aqua said sitting up and recovering.

"Aren't there more practical approaches to training than such behaviour?" Gardine asked thinking.

"Hey, Gardine. Maybe we should take the challenge ourselves." Galla suggested.

"I just had the very same thought." Gardine said with a nod "If we were to thrust ourselves into this ordeal, perhaps we would discover some answers."

"Hey! Person!" Galla called out to Larry who was passing by.

"H-How can I help you?" Larry asked surprised.

"We're taking the Big Bang Challenge." Galla told him.

"Well, ah…There's a minimum age requirement to be eligible for the challenge…" Larry told him. "Ooh! Could I interste you in our Joyful Lil Bang Meal instead? It even comes with a toy! Don't you want a cute little spaceship" Aqua holds in the urge to laugh, to the outside observer the twin wardens while looking like Pokemon more so look like little kids in costumes as well.

"…A spaceship?" Galla said in surprise.

"That's a burger, fries, and a juice for 500 credits! It'll be right up!" Larry said with a bow before going to get it.

"Wait! We didn't ask for…" Galla said to that shocked.

"It's too late now-let's just settle for that today…I admit I'm intrigued by the diminutive spaceship." Gardine said with a smile.

We then come to a bit later when the three were done and were now outside the Joyful Big Bang Burger restaurant.

"Well, we didn't experience any of the wonders of space, but at least the taste was passable." Galla said with a smile as he holds onto the toy from the kids meal.

"You seemed much more excited by the toy than the toy tan the taste, anyway." Gardine said teasingly.

"Sh-Shut up!" Galla said to that embarrassed. "I saw you eating around those 'pickle' things or whatever they are, Gardine!"

"Th-That wasn't food from this earth. It was clearly, ah…alien spawn of some sort." Gardine said embarrassed

"WHAT?! Is this true?!" Galla asked shocked.

"Not at all." Aqua said shaking her head amused, normally these two are so serious so she was seeing a different side to them, guess their childlike appearance of these two cyborg Pokemon was more then just for appearance, it was sort of cute.

"H-Hey, is it true or not? I ate all mine, you know!" Galla said to Aqua glaring then admits "…They actually tasted rather good."

"Calm down, Galla. We're getting off track." Gardine said to her cyborg Gallade counterpart.

"Grrr…Well, at any rate, we've determined that hamburgers are incapable of conveying the majesty of space." Galla said to Aqua "While the toy spaceship helped to soften the blow, there's no denying the truth. Now we will formally acknowledge the completion of your task."

"Here is your reward." Gardine said as the cyborg Gardevoir hands over some skill cards for Maragi and Mabufu to Aqua.

"Thank you" Aqua said putting them in her bag where she keeps the skill cards.

"You better work just as hard next time!" Galla told her "We know about all sorts of locations that would aid your rehabilitation!"

Gardine looks around the street and said "I'm still taken aback by the truth…Your world is absolutely full of these 'shop' places…For a reasonable fee, nearly every desire can be fulfilled, all as if it were nothing."

"That does sound interesting. I believe it may merit further research." Galla said nodding in agreement.

"Well I will be happy to show you what I can if I know it" Aqua said smiling.

"Anyways, good work, Inmate." Galla said nodding "Your final task for the day is to escort us back to the Velvet Room! Let's move!"

Aqua nods and escorted the twins back to the Velvet Room doorway before heading home. As she does she overhears people talking about the Phantom Thieves as well as shady people.

The next day Aqua was on her way to school with Gatomon in her bag again like always.

"Are we there yet? It's hard to breathe in here…" Gatomon complained as he wiggles his head a bit out the bag.

"Now for today's Train News. Today's headlines are…" The Train Monitor said "'Calling Card at Lysandre Exhibit!' The police are evaluating whether this is a true threat or a prank. 'Scam Outbreak in Beacon!' Students are the primary victims. Organized crime is suspected here."

"Students getting scammed? That's scary…" Gatomon said worried "You should be careful when you go to Beacon."

"Yeah I will." Aqua said nodding and enjoys the train ride.

Eventually she arrived at Citadel Academy and was walking the hall. She sees three students standing by a notice board looking at a new one added.

"…What's this? 'A request to the student body'?" A Hesitant Female Student said.

"It says they're looking for information. I heard Principal Lionheart put it up." A Surprised Female Student told the other two.

"'Please consult the student council president if you have any details.'" The Hesitant Female Student read it.

"So, we can go to her for anything?" A Dubious Male Student asked "Why the student council president though? What does she have to do with Principal Lionheart?"

"I mean, J is his favourite." The Surprised Female Student said thinking "Maybe that's why he asked her to do it."

"Hmmmm…." Aqua thinks on it and then continues to class.

Once in class Aqua sits as a Biology lesson began with Mr. Smile.

"It seems like most of society was surprised about what that artist did." Mr. Small said smiling "He was someone who represented Japan. They probably trusted him based on his name alone. Indeed, we're easily manipulated by the names we see. However, this world is fill with fake names. For instance, this creature, which you know well. It's called the red king crab, but it has a form that a crab should not have." Mr. Small said with a smile and looks at Aqua "Aqua, look at this picture."

Aqua sits up to pay attention as Mr. Small shows a picture of a crab. Mr. Small said "The red king crab is biologically related to the hermit crab. So how is it different from a crab…? Do you know?"

"Hmmmm…is the number of legs." Aqua said after thinking.

"Heh…Not bad." Mr. Small said smiling and clapping. "That's correct." He shows the image of a Red King Crab and Snow Crab. "Crabs have five pairs of legs, but red king crabs only have four pairs. The direction the lefts unfold is reversed too. Typically they face forward, but a red kings' do not."

The rest of the class and Gatomon were impressed with Aqua getting it right. Aqua feels her knowledge improve due to this.

"Incidentally, the tomalley of a crab isn't its brain, as people say. It's actually the crab's liver and pancreas. As you can see, the world is full of deception."

"I saw some kind of paste like that in the fridge at Leblanc…but it's not often you see real crab meat." Gatomon said thinking. "Hey why don't we get sushi for our next celebration?"

"Maybe" Aqua said thinking.

A while later throughout the day it was now afternoon classes and a notification came from the Dragon Gems group chat so Alexis and Aqua checks their phones.

"Our name did spread a bit thanks to Lysander…" Uzi said in the message. "But I bet people still wouldn't care if we came out and said we're the Phantom Thieves."

"I'm not so sure." Aqua said in the message.

"I doubt anyone would believe us." Zane messages. "But…what good would come of telling people our identities?"

"Maybe they'd at least start treating us with some respect." Uzi points out.

"Well, I can understand why you feel that way…" Zane points out.

"That's just how things are now, but if we keep doing stuff like this, that will definitely change." Alexis messages.

"We simply need to devote ourselves to the cause. Out praise will come late." Zane added to that.

"What he said!" Alexis adds in agreement. "I'm sure some people out there will understand."

"Ugh. I guess we just got to act like modest heroes for now…" Uzi messages and the chat ends.

After school was done, Aqua hears people talking about Ventus as well as the notice that was pinned to the notice board.

We come to the student council room where two members were talking sitting at the table as J enters and approaches them.

"President…What is the meaning of that posting?" The Male Council Member asked J.

"Principal Lionheart put that up without my…" J said concerned.

"We've already received some anonymous information." The Female Council Member brings up and reads one of the anonymous info. "'I heard some students are getting threatened. I'm so scared…Please do something.'"

"What?!" J said shocked.

"'They have dirt on me, and they're demanding money. I can't go to the police…What should I do?'" The Male Council Member said reading another. "Isn't this talking about the crimes that have been rumoured to be occurring in Beacon?"

"So there are even victims at our school…What should we do?" The Female Council Member asked.

"This isn't the responsibility of the student council. This is frightening for us too…" The male Council Member said looking down and then looks at J "Principal Lionheart called you in yesterday, right? Did he tell you anything about this?"

"Well, no…" J said shaking her head. "He's out today, but I will ask him tomorrow. Please wait on this for the time being…"

"If you say so…" The Male Council Member said looking down.

"...My apologies for the confusion." J said to them "Don't worry. I'll do something about all of this…"

Aqua was getting ready to head out when she gets a message from Penny.

"I have some new info!" Penny said "Apparently there's a group of burglars terrorizing Beacon. From what I hear, they only target restaurants and break in after they close for the day. Someone online was asking if it was the work of the Phantom Thieves…Just reading that got me really annoyed! We can't let people lump you guys in with petty thieves, right?!"

"No way." Aqua messages to Penny.

"Yeah! You guys are way better than these jerks!" Penny messages "Anyway, I heard they've been running away without leaving even a trace of evidence. That's all the information I have on them right now…Sorry. For now, I'll make a point on the Phan-Site and ask for any more details people might know."

"Man, being famous really brings its own unique set of problems…" Gatomon said annoyed as Aqua puts the phone away. "But we don't really have any info. We'll just have to wait for Penny to get a more solid lead.

Aqua first goes to the Accessway in Beacon Station to review the current Mementos targets and to add Marinette to the list.

"Well then, we have some new intel on a Mementos target today." Gatomon said to the four. "This intel is on a surprisingly sadistic student. It sounds like she's been treating a particular male student as a slave against his will. For example, she'll give him degrading orders, or berate him in public…"

"So she's acting like a dominatrix to a guy who doesn't want that…That's horrible." Alexis said sadly "I think we'll need to whip her heart instead, okay?"

"Very well, I will go along with this." Zane said with a nod.

"No objections, right?" Gatomon asked "Mm..we're good to go if you're okay with it. That's a unanimous decision."

Aqua then ends the meeting with that then goes to study in the diner due to the rain and also have a Surprise Sando for a meal improving her guts and knowledge before heading back to Leblanc.

Aqua got a feeling like the twins were waiting for her, so she works on doing a crossword to improve her knowledge before going to see them.

"All right, time to name the location. Gardine, you do the honours." Galla said smiling.

"Listen closely: the place we wish to evaluate for your rehabilitation is.." Gardine said and looks at her virtual clipboard. …one that many young people are said to visit. Here, one has the opportunity to view the fantasies of humans or mortals to be exact."

"We hear there are a variety of fantasies available for perusal there and all outside of a Palace! How stange." Galla said pondering.

"Yes. These fantasies…They are the cognition of others given form. They will undoubtedly support your efforts." Gardine said nodding. "Does such a location sound familiar to you?"

"Well? If you know where it is, then escort us there immediately!" Galla told her.

'It could be the movie theatre over in Beacon…' Aqua thinks on it.

"So, what'll it be?" Galla asked.

"You mean the movie theatre?" Aqua asked them.

"The what? The 'moving theatre'?!" Galla asked confused "Is this place cursed to wander the land or something?!"

"We shall confirm our intel for ourselves." Gardine said smiling "Lead the way."

First Aqua goes to the Velvet Room and Itemized Pheonix to make a Hevenset Dress protector before resummoning them. We come to a bit later, where Aqua had shown the twin wardens the movie theatre and even showed them a movie.

"That was rather enjoyable, Inmate." Galla said smiling "We won't underestimate the human imagination again."

"You may claim to have enjoyed yourself, but your screams told quite a different story to anyone who could hear." Gardine points out. "It's no wonder how everyone mistakes us for elementary school students."

"Shut up! It was only because of that thing jumping out of my face…" Galla states annoyed. "And you were just as scared, Gardine!"

"…It certainly was startling. The eyes and nose seemed to stretch out right at me…" Gardine said nodding. "And it all began the moment I donned those black glasses…" She and Galla look at Aqua as she asked "What exactly were those that we wore?"

"They were 3D glasses. They are what you wear for 3D movies" Aqua said with a smile.

"Oh, so there was some sort of trick to the glasses?" Galla asked intrigued. "But your own glasses are just normal ones, right? You own attention wasn't wandering while we were caught up in the movie, was it?" He thinks "…Why is it that mortals even create such large and elaborate fabrications in the first place, though? Isn't the imagining of these things satisfying enough? Even dreaming seems like a superior pastime."

"Why do mortals go so far as to spend their money just to witness fictional events?" Gardine added.

"There are many different reasons, but I feel like it helps them to escape reality." Aqua said thinking.

"So, they wish to avert their eyes from the world they lice in? What an unsettling answer." Gardine said looking down.

"Escape, you say…That sounds rather mortal as well…" Galla said nodding then glares suspiciously "You wouldn't happen to be plotting an escape of your own, would you, Inmate?!"

"No matter how much you might rail against it, you shall remain our Inmate." Gardine added to that. "Even the very thought of such a foolish endeavour is pointless for you…or could that line of thinking be yet another avenue of escaping reality?"

"Hmph, what a pathetic fantasy!" Galla said to that. "I'll bet you were thinking of blasting away the cell door, weren't you?!"

"Don't even consider such crassness, Galla." Gardine told him. "If she were to attempt such a blatant jailbreak, either our master or ourselves would notice immediately."

"Oh? And how would YOU do it, Gardine?" Galla asked her.

"I would use a spoon to dig a hole though the wall, and conceal it with a poster of some distractive image…" Gardine said proudly.

"Blowing open the cell door seems more impactful." Galla said smiling. "They used that plan in of the movie previews, correct? They wielded a bazooka and went about blowing everything up."

"Any recaptured escapee is executed on the spot. Freedom or death ae the only options for an inmate on the lam." Gardine explained. "Suspense and excitement are necessary elements of any escape. Did you learn nothing from the movie, Galla? Or were you simply enjoying yourself?"

"Shut up! The Inmate'll settle this for us!" Galla said and looks to Aqua. "Hey-tell us how you'd try to escape! Would you blast the door or use a spoon?"

"Well not that I am planning too but I will admit the spoon plot sounds good." Aqua said thinking.

Gardine chuckles and said "Did you hear that, Galla? Even the Inmate knows that a crude plan like yours has no hope of succeeding."

"Hmph! Whatever it's not like she can actually escape either way." Galla said pouting. However, he smiles and said "There's no harm in allowing yourself to fantasize a little bit, every now and then."

"Indeed, today we learned more about the power of mortal imagination. No wonder such vile Palaces plague mortality." Gardine said nodding.

Galla smiles at Aqua and said "You're hereby free to fantasize, but keep it in check, Inmate! Your job is to focus on your rehabilitation!"

"That being said…Here is your reward." Gardine said and hands Aqua skill cards for Frei and Psi. "I believe that will be all for today. It is time to return."

Aqua nods and escorts the Twins back to the Velvet Room before heading home and too bed.

Well Aqua seems to know a bit more of Galla and Gardine's personalities but next time is the TV Studio trip and a meeting of rivals.
