But I Didn't Want Adventure! (NasuFate SI Chapter 1)

In the outskirts of Fuyuki City laid a castle-villa made by the Einzbern. It served as a home and a base should they stay within the city for the Holy Grail War.

Surrounding the castle, and filling up the outskirts is a massive forest that was part of the Einzbern home base. It was an eerie forest that was part of the Einzbern defenses. Because it was covered in a Bounded Field, and was creepy as fuck.

"AAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!" I scream while running, terror in my voice, and near tears about to fly from my eyes.

It also really echoed sounded loudly.

"AAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA!" KoGil, who I was carrying in a piggyback fashion, was laughing his ass off.

Explodes from sword arrows, and wind slash rang out and vibrated around us as Saber and Archer were trying to kill us-or rather me specifically-while screaming in rage.

My name is Michael Chaser, and I did not want to be in the Fifth Holy Grail War.

Actually no, that's not my name. That's just the "cool" alias I use when doing my mage freelance work. It's cool because I said so.

Now I'm sure you're all wondering how I ended up in this situation.

So let's go back to the beginning.

"WAAAAA WAAAAA WAAAAA!"

"Congratulation, Lord Ainsworth. Another healthy boy."

I was born James Ainsworth, fourth child and second son of Zachary Ainsworth.

Okay, that's a good starting point, but let's go just a tiny bit further back.

"So...you're real?" I asked the blue haired goddess in front of me.

"Yeeep." The Goddess of Water, Aqua said popping the 'p'.

"And I died."

"Basically."

She definitely looked like the character from KonoSuba, and yet she didn't?

Is this the difference between seeing anime on a screen, and the real thing in front of my eyes?

No, she definitely looks the same except, her expression isn't as derpy as in the anime, and she has a wedding ring on her left hand.

Huh. I guess this is Aqua after the KonoSuba story ended? That's probably why she "looks" different.

"So what happens now?"

"I think you should be familiar with the process at this point." Her relaxed amused smile stayed on her beautiful face.

Okay, why is it that she looks like she knows me? Like knows knows me?

And I assume 'familiar with the process', refers to know how these situations would go, given the number of isekai stories and fanfiction I read in life, which...yeah. I guess I do know what to do next.

"So choose a power and go to another world." I nodded to myself. "One that's plagued by a Demon King?"

Aqua chuckled, her laugh sounding, well, magical.

"No, this isn't one with an emergency you specifically have to deal with. But if you happen to see a problem and help out, that would be neat."

I blinked a few times in confusion.

"That's it?" I asked, wide-eyed.

"I know you." From some reason her words hit, deep in my chest, and my face was suddenly very hot. "Let's just say I have faith in your better nature."

...Holy shit, I think my heart just skipped a beat for Aqua. Of all people! Gods! Whatever!

Point is, since when was Aqua this suave?

"So, I just choose a power from a list?" I asked to just move things along, since she had a knowing smile, that I wouldn't put it past her to have read my mind.

Actually given that this was a divine realm, that wouldn't be a surprise.

"Sure if you want to, but honestly you should just name a power that you want. That will cut down on time, and you won't end up with decision paralysis." She said waving her hand dismissively.

That...is surprisingly wise. Is this really Aqua?

"Yes, I am really Aqua." She pouted, looking adorable, yet somehow keeping that mature sexy charm. "Honestly, you'd think that just because I'm a bit older, I'm suddenly a different person. Should I judge you based solely on your teenage 'Crash Gear Turbo' phase."

"I'm sorry, please forgive this ignorant mortal, oh great Lady Aqua!" I bowed at the waist right away, looking down to the floor.

"Hahahaha, yes, praise me more, Michael!"

"Huh?" Wait, why did she just call me-

"A-hem." Aqua coughed in her fist. "So anyways," she continued, trying to play off the last moment, like it didn't happen. But really, why is she calling me by my most used OC's name- "Come on, now choose a power you want. Anyone you want. Chop, chop." She clapped her hands for emphasis.

"...Okay." I mean, if she's telling me to choose any power...might as well. "Spiral Power!" I said with a wide grin. Because let's be honest-

"Done!" She said with a flare of her hand, as a magic circle appeared under me to send me to my next life.

"WAIT, SERIOUSLY!"

And so, I was reborn in Nasuverse. Which well, is a pretty good prospect. In theory.

In reality, the Nasuverse is a fucking terrifying place to live in. And to be born to a magus family is a nine to one, on whether it's a shitty family or one with some bits of morals.

Give that in this world the Ainsworth doesn't have Darius around, beyond our ancestor whom we study in our family history lessons, that's a good sign already.

Pandora's box isn't around, so likely had been opened a long time ago, and the Einzbern are around, so all in all, this seems like one of the normal functional time branches. Yeeeppeee~!

However if I am to survive in this world, there are two rules I have made for myself that I must follow at all costs.

Rule #1: Do Not Piss Off Hot Powerful Women.

I do not need to specify that they're hot, that's just a natural fact. And there are many women here with fucking terrifying power, so avoid them at all cost, not matter how THICCC their thighs were.

Rule #2: Do not get involved with "End of the World" Plotlines.

I am fodder and would definitely be one of the first mooks to fall to show off how dangerous the villain-slash-threat was.

And with those simple rule, I am should be able to breathe by on the road to a chill life.

Observe.

"So brother, it's finally time for us to discuss who will lead this family going forward." Angelica said to me, sitting behind her desk, having called me to her study to talk and have the advantage in said talk.

She was sitting leaning on her elbows, fingers interlocked in front of her face, staring at me intently.

Our father saw the both of us as having great talent, so he just went:

"About being the next heir, you guys figure it out."

Now, those may not be his exact words, but that's what they boiled down into.

"Yes, and I'm so glad you're taking over after the old man. Phew, that's a whole load off of everyone's shoulders, you know." I said easily, even mimicking wiping sweat off my brow.

"You...accept me as the next family head?" Angelica raised an eyebrow, looking at me in surprise.

"Yep! Here's the Geass Scroll signed up and done, just needs you magic imprint to be complete." I said putting the Self Geass Scroll on her desk, as I said with a calm smile in front of her.

Angelica blinked a few times, before taking the scroll, reading it slowly and carefully. Once, twice, thrice.

"You seriously aren't going to challenge me on leading our family. You're just accepting my claim like that?" She asked, looking bewildered as the scroll basically said I'm to never lead this family, even if every one else that could do so perishes. Basically, no backstabbing plot, or weird magus twist on trying to go for the head position or any bullshit like that.

Seriously, I don't want to be family head at all.

"Yep. I'm not about that magus lifestyle, that's not gonna change now, or in a few years. Spellcaster fo life, yo!" I pumped my fist up.

A letter knife past me, and embedded itself in the wall next to the door.

"You are not to disgrace our noble family, by speaking in that manner, little brother." Angelica said in that elder sister tone, to which I quickly nodded at. She sighed and looked at the scroll one more time. "It says here, you want a guarantee that no harm from our family would come to you, and to be allowed to live and research as you please away from the Ainsworth." She looked back up with a complicated expression.

Uh oh. Did I accidently unlock the Onee-sama Route in the past for something? Please don't let it be so!

"Yep, I just want to travel around, see the world, and do stuff on my own pace." I said holding my hands behind my head.

"But...why? You are one of our current generation's geniuses!" Angelica said, almost desperately, even though her tone didn't change.

"Nah, I only managed one spell. The rest I suck at. I know my limits, so I'll just work on that one spell, while taking it easy." Sadly, I never managed to train with Spiral Power yet, except sparsely, as you can't have privacy in a magus' home.

"That's..." She closed her eyes and sighed, before shaking her head on wasted potential. "Very well, but before I sign this scroll, you must first fulfill one condition for me."

"Ah, come on~ I'm basically giving you everything on a gold platter, so we don't have any conflict." I whined.

"Finish up your education at the Clocktower." She continued nonplussed.

"Huh?"

"Even if you don't wish to be the next head, you are still my little brother, and I want you to have a good education. Do this one task for me, and I will let you have you do as you will." She even went ahead and put a geass on herself with that condition.

Man, even when I'm trying to avoid butting heads with a hot strong babe, she still manages to twist my ear somehow.

Oh well, it's just one thing. I survive going through high school again. Even if it's magical edition.

"Fine, but I have a condition of my own. I want to go under an alias." I said back petulantly. "I wanna try and make it on my own merits!" Also because that way, I can avoid getting involved in any politics bullshit.

I stared in horror as my car was slightly dented in the front. The other car was not dented. It was wrecked. Thank god the occupants inside were alright. Magecraft was definitely involved.

I swear that other car just came out of nowhere, with that insane driving speed ramming into me, trying to get the parking spot.

Sure, I was practicing Spiral Power a bit, but that other car was driving wildly and insanely, and other things with 'ely' at the end.

"You!" A girl with blonde drill hair stepped out of the car, glaring at me, while her butler was trying to get her to come back, and calm down. "How dare damage my car so? Who do you work for to try this worthless assassination attempt!?"

I dropped myself to her feet.

"My lady, I swear that was an accident! I'll pay for the repair, no matter what! Please just have mercy on me!" After all, I recognized the girl as Luvia-something Edelfelt.

I did not want to be magic body slammed!

That's how I became Marjutteta Edelfelt's servant-small "s"- for my first year in the Clocktower.

And yes, turns out it was Luvia's sister, not Luvia herself, so no fear from Shirou Protagonist Aura coming around to fuck me up, for stepping on it's turf.

It's fine though. If this is the worse of it, then-NOPE!

Haha! Not even finishing that thought! You have no tether on me, Murphy!

"Why are we here?" I asked in hopelessness as I stare at the stereotypical medieval castle far ahead of us, that we were driving closer to. "Just to suffer!"

"We are here to be part of her Ladyship, Vice Director Barthomeloi hunt on a Dead Apostle Ancestor! To be part of this great and glorious expedition!" Marjut said with a wild grin. "Be grateful, Chaser. You're about to be part of history!"

"That is not comforting! If anything, that sounds like a threat! Do you hate me or something!?" I cried out.

Marjut chortled with laughter.
