But I Didn't Want Adventure! (NasuFate SI Chapter 3)

Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck!

Displace away from another energy blast from somewhere. Making sure to keep hold of Marge, so she's within the range of my Self. Displace into the Bounded Field, while Displacing away detection by the field.

Shit shit shit shit shit!

Displace to ground level, and this is gonna be a bit tricky-

"Oh!" Marge cried out in my arms.

-I Displace the momentum just enough so it would be pushing me forward, and thus I teleported on the ground with a running start.

"Fuck!"

"I can run by my self thank you very much, Michael!" Marge said with a scowl in my arms, but I didn't drop her, nor did she move to let go.

"Right! Sure! Of course!" I wasn't able to focus on answering her. My face was heating and my body sweating from how much magical energy I was running through my circuits to use. The sheer number of detection, alarm, anti-intruder fields I had Displace away from me, slide from my Self, was exhausting!

We reached a room, which was more like a giant area likely one of the hubs of the castle. Maybe we can finish the "mission" we're suppose to be on, while the Vice-Director has her 1-v-1 with Rita Rapunzel of whatever that DAA's name was.

"Hmm, it seems we have finally found some excitement." Marge said with a grin, as she jumped out of my arm before I could stop her.

"Lady Marjut, I think we should leave the lovely gentlemen alone." I said, already prepping to run away.

The area we just entered was filled with "people", or rather vampires, fangs and red eyes were a dead give away if nothing else, "slow dancing" with...I wanna say nymphs, but I bet they are just humanoid shaped plants, that are just extensions of DAA Rita's powers, so they would look like plant people.

Also, all of them, just turning to look at us as one, being stereotypically creepy as fuck, was also a clue.

"Nonsense." Marge drew jewels between her fingers, like they were knives she was about to throw.

Honestly, even though I'm from a well off family, I still cry a little on the inside, every time I see her use her Jewel Magecraft for combat. I feel your envy Rin Tohsaka. I feel it on a spiritual level!

"Hoo? How amusing. A morsel coming to put itself on our plate." Said one of the vampires who let go of their 'dance partner'.

"My lady, serious-"

"This is a ballroom, Michael." I could hear the savage grin in her voice, as she strut forward, a slow swing in her hips...wait. No, focus. "It would be rude not to dance~!"

The jewels shined with magical energy, as the vampires started to actually react to us. I studied the textbooks, the Queen's helpers passed around, so while I'm not 100% sure, I think those are all Nightkin.

The weakest level of vampires with an intact ego. And of course Ego.

I saw the varies vampires start to puff themselves up, as they started to step forward.

"Ah, fuck it."

I stopped letting the detection and alarm field, Slide off of me. This far in, the anti-intruder field was weaker, but likely had more subtle effect, so I'll focus on Displacing those away.

Now I can focus more on protecting Margutteta, and pulling her out of the fire if things got too bad.

The ballroom was soon filled light and explosions.

Rita Rozay-en paused in her reception of her guests, or guest rather. She sensed that the inner sanctums near the heart of the ritual site had been breached. Two humans it seem actually managed to make it there. She wasn't worried about them being close to the ritual site, but rather they suddenly appeared there. How didn't she detect them until now?

Rita had thought all the magi of that little "Queen's" little Brigade that split off had already died trying to stop the ritual-Oh wait there was one left. Regardless it didn't matter, whether it was, the last rat of Chelon Canticle Brigade, what's left of the already dwindling Church's Executioners, or those two random magi; all will fail to stop the ritual.

Besides, most of her children, those Ranked 6th and 7th, are in the rooms connected to the ritual site. She had pulled all the stops for this event.

The Ancestor's instincts screamed, as she had to place a barrier just to dodge a blast of pure focused mana, shot by Barthomeloi Lorelei. She frowned as she saw the attack blast through a wall, then the room behind it, then the wall after. The castle shook slightly, as another section was demolished.

"I would almost feel insulted by your sudden lapse against me, but...could it be that your grand plan is about to meet it's end already?" Lorelei asked with small smile, taking in the Rose Princess's expression and how it should soon turn to despair, over her ritual failing.

She was slightly disappointed that communication with the ten Brigade members she sent to destroy ritual site, had been cut off, but maybe they didn't disappoint her after all.

"Of course not," Rita replied with an amused smile. "Besides all those little ants you sent to stop the revival of the past age, are already dead. Well, except for one."

The ritual was Rita's grand work. A Bounded Field that would remove the Human Order within it, in order transition the era within said field to an earlier time when the mana was more widespread and dense.

The Artist's Lady seeked to bring back the Age of Gods. For once her Zone of No Man was realized, it would spread to the rest of the Texture, like color in clear water.

"Liar!" Lorelei shouted as she fired another dozen of mana beam, as she ran toward Rita summoning Almighty Wind with her.

"We will see which truth stands soon enough!" Rita answer with her own charge, using her vines to make eyeballs at the tip of each one, to Look at Lorelei and her Brigade as she used her Mystic Eyes upon them.

Half dodge, others either gorged their eyes out, or somehow actively repelled her attack.

With a loud bang, Rita's Fairy Staff, stolen from a dead fey, clashed against Lorelei's riding crop held by a Mythril Gauntlet. The crop itself being enchanted into a Conceptual Weapon at this point. However, neither Lorelei's little whip, nor Rita's own weapon compared to the Noble Phantasm used in the ritual.

A Noble Phantasm that could no be removed no matter what, as it had been conceptual tied to the mountain in which this land and castle were dug into its heart.

The only option the Mage's Association or the Church had were to kill her before the ritual was completed. And too bad for them, she prepared to have it mostly finished before they ever arrived.

Rita felt like laughing whenever she thought about it. The Spiral Sword that once fell mountains will now be cornerstone upon which the Age of Man will crumble.
