Don X Don (High School DxD Miracle Child SI Chapter 4)
Of course Lady Rachelle didn't meet Lady Gabriel right away. She had to shower-again, this time with holy water-get dressed, and prepare a gift. After that she had to head to an isolated area, that can serve as a meeting room for this supposed secret meeting.
Along the way of course, Rachelle spoke to Sister Jenna and Sister Eda.
"I understand that had been a harrowing experience for you, and thus I will strive to act better a Miracle Child, so such display would not happen again, should the same situation happen in the future." Rachelle 'apologized'.
"That apology was half-assed to the extreme." Milo said in a dry tone, making sure to let Rachelle know of his opinion on the whole thing.
Of course Milo was escorted away from Lady Rachelle, told to go play outside. It was a subtle move by the clergy staff to boy not insert himself in Lady Rachelle's affair, especially in such an important meeting.
Xenovia was allowed inside the meeting room, but only just to stand by the door, to watch over Lady Rachelle mostly as a formality, but effectively she would be like a maid should the Miracle Child and, or Seraph required something.
Lady Rachelle stood at alert in the meeting room, staying completely still, and waiting for her angelic mother to arrive.
The wait felt like forever. Every second seemed to drag and take hours just to tick by. The constant ticking of a nearby grandfather clock sounding like the bang of a cannon from how silent everyone was, with every movement of the pendulum.
The sisters outside the room, Xenovia by the door, and Rachelle standing in the room, all waited for the descend of the heavenly archangel. They all waited for Seraph Gabriel to arrive, to teleport or fly into the room, in all her light and glory.
Finally, the Archangel Gabriel, one of the Four Great Seraph arrived...by opening a side door, next to the grandfather clock.
"Ah, am I late?" Gabriel asked, her presence alone leaving the people present in such a state of awe and reverence that they had to try and hold back from kneeling or crying in joy at the presence of an Archangel.
If Milo was present, he would have said: "Wow, everyone's a simp."
"Of course not, Lady Gabriel! You're never late. We would wait for however long you wish, so we could meet you. Hours, days even, would mean nothing for the chance to glimpse your pure visage." Rachelle immediately said, kneeling to the Archangel.
"Wha! Am...Am I hours late?" Gabriel said with wide eyes. "And please, there's no need for your to lower yourself." She moved, taking Rachelle's hand gently pulling her to stand up. "After all, you're my... Come, sit with me, Rachelle." Gabriel seemed saddened, if only for an instant, before her gentle smile returned again.
"R-Right, of course, Lady Gabriel." Rachelle following Gabriel.
Gabriel sat on the couch, while Rachelle sat on the seat next to the Seraph rather than by her side.
"You don't need to call me 'Lady Gabriel' every time, you know." Gabriel said with a small smile.
"Right, Lady-Um, I mean, M, M...M-Mother." Rachelle closed up on herself as she said the last word, looking down to her lap, unable to meet anyone's eyes at the moment.
Gabriel's smile brightened, to which Rachelle blushed harder upon seeing it.
"So," Gabriel began. "Tell me, how have you been? Um, your duties aren't too difficult, are they?" Gabriel hesitantly asked.
"No!" Rachelle quickly said, before composing herself. "No, it's all well. I'm doing fine, and, and my duties are going well too." Rachelle found herself blushing in embarrassment as she couldn't speak in a composed mature manner, as she always tried to do. "I-I'm sorry. I don't mean to be vague, rather-"
"Rachelle, please calm down." Gabriel said, a small laughed that sounded like heavenly chimes, and lightened up the heart rang from her mouth. "Please, take your time, there's no need to worry or be nervous."
"R-Right." Rachelle said while looking away in shame. She took a moment before she continued, this time more composed. "My training is going well. I now have a second pair of wings. My holy power is growing steadily everyday. I have made sure to study the Bible as well as practice my abilities all the time, and conduct myself respectfully and as expected of my station."
"I know, I hear your prayers, Rachelle." Gabriel nodded.
"Eh!? Y-You...right of course." Rachelle looked surprised for a moment, before looking down with a small sad smile.
"Do you take some time for yourself?" Gabriel asked.
"What? No, of course not! I ensure to always study and train..." Rachelle trailed off as something came to mind.
"That wasn't fully the truth, Rachelle." Gabriel said with smile of her own, gently probing the girl to speak up.
"I...sometimes, am interrupted from focusing on my studies, or training, by um..." Rachelle tried to gather her thoughts. "One of the orph...children here, tends to drag me into silly ventures and games."
"I'll have to thank that child then when I meet them." Gabriel's smile widened.
"Eh? What?" Rachelle was thrown back.
"You are still a child, Rachelle. You also should spend time playing as well as studying." Gabriel put a hand on her chin, as she had a thoughtful look. "At least that's what those children's books I pick up at a library had commonly said. It seemed like sound advice."
"Ah, um, thank you, Lady Gabriel, but truly, I have no need of-" Rachelle stumbled on her words, trying to tell the Seraph to ignore those hippy parenting books, when suddenly shouts were heard from the hallways.
"I told you to keep all children away from this area!" Called out a nun.
"That brat just doesn't listen and do whatever he want." Answered some priest.
"If that kid where to interrupt the meeting between Lady Rachelle and Lady Gabriel, he's in for a spanking! I don't care that Sister Griselda covers for him!" Called out another nun.
"Wait, there he is!"
"Come here you little brat!"
"Why isn't he lazy at times like this!?"
The commission continued sounding near, then far away, then there were some pounding on walls of rooms adjacent to the meeting room.
"I wonder what's going on?" Gabriel curiously asked.
"It's probably nothing. One of the kids here is likely being a troublemaker." Rachelle said dismissively. "You don't need to worry yourself with such trivialities, Lady Gabriel."
"Hmm," Gabriel turned to Rachelle. "Didn't a tell you, you don't need to call me 'Lady Gabriel' too much."
"R-Right, um..."
The shouting and light bangs of wall hitting continued as whatever child being chased seemed like they were jumping on the walls to evade being caught. Then the sound of stairs being climbs was heard, following by the shouts, and feet hitting the roof echoed, as the chase seemed to have reached the upper floor.
Gabriel and Rachelle seemed to be following were the noises were going before they quietened down.
For a few moments there was silence, making everyone wonder if the chase was over.
Bang.
A small stomp was heard from the ceiling above the meeting room.
Bang.
Then small hole broke down from the ceiling as someone fell through.
"Intruder!" Xenovia shouted, drawing her Light Saber, and dashed at the intruder that broke into the meeting.
Only for a wall of Holy Light to flash in front of her, blocking her path.
"Please, there's no need for fight." Gabriel stood up, heading toward the person who fell into the room.
"Lady Gabriel, please stand back!" Xenovia called out.
"Do you think an Archangel of the Lord needs your protect, Xenovia!" Rachelle, having jumped to her feet, shouted.
"N-No, of course not. Rather she doesn't need to bother with such-
"Ow, ow, ow, ow." A sound rang out, as a small boy sat up rubbing his head from where he fell.
"Oh!" Gabriel had a hand to her mouth, as her eyes widened.
"Man, seriously, you climb a tree to take a peek, and suddenly everyone's the Spanish Inquisition." Milo said as he slowly stood up.
"Milo!" Rachelle shouted, losing all her mature demeanor. "Are you seriously causing trouble now, you lazy brat!?" She cause a panicked look at the Seraph, then toward the nuns and Xenovia who were present. "When we have such an important guest from Heaven before us!?" She called out.
"Hey, it's not my fault the sisters were gossiping about an Archangel coming. Heck, I wasn't even gonna interrupt, but everyone kept making a big deal about me interrupting." Milo said back, before looking at Gabriel and quietened for a moment. His smile then, surprised Rachelle with have sincere it looked, unlike his usual lazy, or sarcastic expression. "Ah, sorry for falling in her, Lady Gabriel, but I wanted to see where Rachelle gets her good looks from." He chuckled, and gave a wide grin.
"Eeek." Milo's words shut Rachelle up, as he threw her off her rhythm.
"Ah, thank you." Gabriel smiled. This time, the room seemed brighter, as though there was something more genuine behind it.
"Lady Gabriel, I'm sorry for this brat interrupting your important meeting with your daughter." Xenovia spoke up, marching toward Milo with a determined expression.
"Ah! N-No, it's alright." Gabriel tried to say, yet seemed hesitated.
"There's no need to worry. We'll increase security and-"
"What's happening here?" A voice called out from the door.
"Oh, hello, Griselda." Gabriel said.
"It's an honor to see you again, my lady." Griselda swept her eyes over the scene taking in everything. From the half-panicked, half-relieved Rachelle, to the angry, determined Xenovia, to the grinning and unapologetic Milo. Finally her eyes landed on the calm Seraph, who...seemed conflicted at the moment.
"Lady Gabriel, we're sorry for disturbing your meeting. Is young Milo here causing any trouble?" Griselda asked. Xenovia was about to shout that he was, but a warning smile from Sister Griselda shut her up. The other nuns tried to interject, but the same look silenced them.
"Ah, no. Not at all." Gabriel responded, before turning to the boy. "My child, how do you know Rachelle?" She asked gently.
"I'm her only friend." Milo said bluntly.
"Wha! I have many friends." Rachelle protested.
"You have hanger-ons." Milo said back, to which Rachelle protested.
Xenovia and the other nuns looked confused, and unsure on how to proceed.
"Well, would you like to join us? I would love to hear about how Rachelle is doing, from someone who wouldn't sugarcoat things?" Gabriel offered.
"Ab~sol~utely." Milo grinned at Rachelle, who suddenly started paling.
"Very well, then." Griselda spoke up, before the other nuns, or Xenovia, could argue, "Then we'll be right here if you need anything." Griselda said as she made everyone leave the room, including Xenovia, while she stood by the door, that was left open.
Gabriel and Rachelle took their seat again, and Milo went ahead and sat next to the Archangel on the couch. Xenovia and the nuns, were left annoyed by Milo's presumptuousness.
"Ah, sorry, but can you tell me your name?" Gabriel said.
"Milo Donato, nice to meet'cha." Milo said back.
"D-Donato?" Gabriel blinked in surprise, before looking at Rachelle who looked slightly panicked again and then toward Griselda who just smiled, and gave a small nod.
"Yep!" Milo smirked. "I figured someone else should also have Rachelle's last name in case someone bad came looking for her. That way, they would be a bit confused and lost while looking for her. So, I'm kinda like her body double."
Xenovia's jaw dropped. She couldn't believe that was his reason.
"Eh, what? No way! That's the first I'm hearing of this." Rachelle said in disbelief.
"Truly?" Gabriel asked with a proud smile.
"...No." Milo looked away blushing. "That's like one tenth of the reason why."
"Oh?" Said Gabriel intrigued. "And nine tenth of why you did that?"
"Annoying her amuses me. She makes the cutest faces." Milo grinned back.
"Y-You, you just admitted it, just like that!? How shameless are you?" Rachelle cried out.
"Bad, Milo. Don't do that." Gabriel raised a finger and said to Milo with a seriously serious tone. Her pouting face was something to behold.
Milo blinked and leaned back, taking a moment to compose himself.
"Sorry, can you do that again?" Said Milo.
"Eh?"
"Just one more time, please."
Gabriel looked confused, before nodding and putting on her "serious" face again.
"Milo. Don't!" She wiggled her finger at him.
"...Eheh." Milo looked bashful, and smiled in a silly way, enjoying the admonishment. He then shook his head, to regain his composer. "Okay, I should stop, otherwise that might awaken something in me." He muttered to himself.
"What the heck are you making Lady Gabriel do!?" Rachelle jumped to her feet protesting. "In fact, stop being so close to her holiness, and whatever weird thing you're making her do. You're being too casual!" Rachelle went and popped herself down between Milo and Gabriel separating them.
Milo just grinned as if this was his plan all along and made room, while Gabriel smile in amusement and joy.
Xenovia wanted to interject, but Sister Griselda gestured for her to just stand back.
"Now, now Rachelle. There's no need to be mad" Gabriel said gently.
"Ah! No! I didn't mean to shout, my lady. It's just-"
"What's all this 'lady' nonsense?" Milo cut in. "She's your mom, just call her 'Mom'."
"Hmph, shows what you know. Unlike you, I have to act with decorum." Rachelle said with her head up.
"Ah, my I would like to be called 'Mom' too." Gabriel pouted.
"Ah, no! I didn't mean that. I just, Lady Gabriel..." At seeing the Seraph's saddened look, Rachelle pushed herself. "I mean Mother...Mom." Rachelle blushed down to the root of her hair as she look away.
"Aww, I'm so happy you called me that." Gabriel drew Rachelle into her embrace.
"Yay~! Group hug!" Milo went ahead and hugged Rachelle and Gabriel.
Xenovia was about to move and throw Milo off, unable to believe his audacity, when Griselda's hand on her shoulder, stopped her in her track.
Gabriel's hand went around Rachelle to hug Milo as well, gently squeezing him toward her. All the while Rachelle was stuck in the middle, blushing up a storm at all this sudden affection.
"Now," Milo said with a grinned as they separated. "Let me tell you about all the time she's slacked off."
"W-W-Wha!? What is this trickery? You're the one whose known for always being lazy and slothful!" Rachelle protested.
"Yes, but I'm not gluttonous as the midnight snack thief." Milo said back.
"Y-You!" Rachelle tried to say, before looking toward the Seraph in panick. "M-Mother! It's not what you think! And it was one time!" She cried out, acting more like a child her age.
"One time, every single month. And at times, every single week." Milo said back.
"Yeah, well, I'm not the one who had all our robes be colored pink, because he was so lazy he put everything in the same washing machine." Rachelle called him out.
The two children, Milo and Rachelle, began to rat out on each other, while Gabriel sat listening to the two bicker, feeling happier than expected, at this meeting.
