Calm Eggplant Enjoying A Simple Life (Campione - Mash Kyrielight SI Chapter 3)
The Heretic God simply stared at me in his new form. He was angry but he was quiet and that was worrying.
Hot anger was easy to steer and manipulate. Cold anger...well, it meant shit just got real. Because your opponent act actually think and plan on how they want to fuck you up.
"What's your name, mortal?" The god said. "Subjugation of The Woman. Hubristic Smite. Both of mine passive Authorities were active, yet they either had no affect on you, or you outright blocked and threw back their power at me. I wish to remember you, woman who denied Zeus."
"...You have an Authority that's literally called 'Subjugation of The Woman'?" I blinked a few moment at that.
"As Zeus I've never been denied by a woman, nor defeated. Although I suppose such a thing works in my favor." He looked at his hand, and closed it into a fist. It looked like fire and heat were emitting from it. "It's a first step to regaining my rightful self." He looked back up to me. "Thus I think your name is worth remembering." He said like he was being patient, and doing me a great favor.
I noticed it then, my wind was gone. It wasn't depowered due to there being no more thundercloud, but washed away from the light emitting from Zeus.
It clicked. Light. He wants the Prometheus' Grimoire. Dawn that washes away turbulences like storms and anything related to it. His beard moving like fire. Actually his facial grooming actually look way more dignified now.
Either way.
He was a God of the Sun.
"Matthew." I said while running myths related to fire in my head, trying to remember which one was about being unharmed by fire. "Matthew Kyrielight." I said my name on the birth certificate. This situation felt official enough for it.
Even if it was just Romani doing the birth certificate as a joke to cheer me up. I pushed down a smile at that memory. Serious situation now.
The Heretic God took a second to process that.
"A 'gift' here. Such a shame you couldn't be a gift to me." Said the Heretic God.
"...Are you flirting with me-"
I brought my shield up by instinct, as a Zeus pointed at me, and a massive sunlight laser was blasted at me.
I pushed to hold the shield up, yet I was sliding back from the force bit by bit. I couldn't help but notice the boom sound of the laser firing and hitting the shield. It reminded me of that Inception movie horn sound.
"Guess he considers the fight's started." I said through gritted teeth.
My shield was holding strong, but I could feel a slight bit of heat from it right now.
Suddenly the laser was gone, and I jumped forward as my instincts screamed. A laser shot from the side from where I standing.
Then I dodged to the right. Then dashed back, then jumped and flipped between multiple lasers, and ran forward.
Is it me or are the lasers different colors? Is this motherfucker styling on me!?
Inner Mash was stressed on how to deal with the opponent of this fight, and telling me to focus on the fight not the laser colors.
But I had no idea why she was worried. Sure, Inner Mash was just Mash's normal anxiety and low-self confidence.
But looking from the outside in, I know what Mash was really like.
Why is it that no seemed to get how much of a badass Mash was? Ritsuka really should have poured in the praise on her, humbleness be damned. She wouldn't have gotten a big head anyways.
Mash was terrified during the Grand Order, always feeling likes he could fail at any moment. Yet she kept pushing through that fear and fighting anyways. She faced Dragons, Demigods and actual gods and still walked away with victory. Yes, there were circumstances, but she still did it.
Plus, there was another thing that made her dangerous, that sadly she never got to learn to fully use.
Succeed Phantasm.
It was a Skill unique only to Demi Servants. Mash thought it allowed her to gain one Skill from Galahad.
She can gain any Skill for all of Galahad abilities.
All of them. No Class restrictions.
Saber Class Skills.
Mind's Eye (Fake) - Rank A. Temporarily downloaded.
Instinct - Rank A. Temporarily downloaded.
It felt like they were suppose to be combined into one Skill, but it was easier to get the two.
My body just moved on it's own. Danger that I couldn't perceive I instantly avoided.
Attacks were being dodged without me needing to consciously think about it.
I zoomed into Zeus spot, he was in range of my shield.
One attack came, and I activated Lord Camelot for just the second the attack hit to reflect it back.
Zeus took a hit from the unexpected rebound, stumbling a step back. He was unharmed otherwise.
However in those few instances, I managed to reach him.
"I GOT ULTRA INSTINCT, BITCH!" I laughed and swing my shield at his neck with front of the blade.
Air was displaced, as something boom up into the sky, and I hit nothing.
I looked up to see Zeus...
"No..." My eyes widened.
I saw the Heretic God standing on a chariot being pulled by seven horses.
"Lord Camelot!"
I barely got the change to activate my Noble Phantasm in full before I felt something slam and kept trying to pierce my shield.
The Around Round Shield stood firm. No attack can break this shield. If Mash's will made it unbreakable before the apocalypse that I will inherit and honor that will even if I die.
The force that felt like the sun falling upon me was gone. I saw a string of light moving in the sky, but it was the Heretic God's chariot being pulled by his herd.
"So, the force of any attack, divine or otherwise, can not break your shield, but heat?" The Heretic God noted with a smirk. "It seems you have quite the disadvantage."
I gritted my teeth as my arms, and the side of my neck were covered in first degree burns.
Right. That's how Mash died.
While the violent confrontation between Mash and Zeus in his new guise was on-going, Ichirou noticed several Mages moving about the area. He was relieved as it meant the local Mage Association had evacuated people, and began containment barriers to, well, attempt to keep the fight contained to this place.
"Excuse me, sir, this area is off-limits as the on going disaster continue. Could you please come with me to a safer-Wait, you're Professor Kusanagi?" Said the surprised Mage in a suit.
"I didn't realize I was well known enough to be of interest to the Mage Associations." Ichirou said, as he and the Mage both kept their eyes on the conflict, and hide in their location.
"Your academic papers on folklore had been helping in a number of ways to the History Complication Committee. Ah, I'm Amakasu Touma, professor." Touma said politely.
"Just call me by my name, I'm retired." Ichirou said back.
"Ichirou-san then." Touma's expression went from polite to serious as pleasantries passed. "Do you know what's going on in the current situation? Anything you can add to help?"
"It's Zeus." Ichirou said blunt.
"Yes, we figured that out." Touma said back, not in a mocking tone, but to confirm what his side knows.
"He's also a Sun God, and likely a creator deity as well." Ichirou said, offering his hypothesis.
"...What?"
"He was after the Prometheus' Grimoire I had for safekeeping. It's already outside of Japan now." Ichirou said, before waving Touma's next inquiry. "The question however becomes, why would Zeus care about an artifact of Prometheus, when it was such a minor part of his myth compared to so many other things. Every single person that ever wronged Zeus was punished, he should have been satisfied, yet now he rebelled? And specifically at that part of his myth?" Ichirou turned to Touma with a serious look. "We're dealing with a Sun God so powerful that when his defining power and identity was ripped from him, he was 'lowered' to being Zeus and Poseidon. A Sky God and an Earth & Sea God."
"Wait, what do you mean Poseidon!?" Touma asked in panic.
"The chariot and horses. Poseidon was known as the Lord of Horses. He also causes earthquakes with his trident, thankfully he's not doing that at the moment." He explained.
"Are you sure on that connection? What about his domain of the sea?" Touma quickly asked.
"It might have been something he gained later, or something the Poseidon aspect acquired as an extension of his Authority over the earth. As for why I'm sure?"
They saw the Heretic God hit the phantasmal castle with his horse but also a trident-like weapon. A Trisula.
Ichirou and Touma panicked and ducked expecting an earthquake to happen... Yet it never came. Mash however, her knees jerked, before she quickly regained her balance once more, standing firm and tall, stopping Zeus' attack.
"That weapon...!" Touma's eyes widened.
"A Trisula can be considered like a trident. And given the horses, the sun fire attacks, as well as his want of Prometheus' Grimoire, he can only be that god. One that travelled from India, across Iran, Persia and reached Greece. His Authority and Identity were stolen by Prometheus, when the titan stole the fire to give to mankind. He is a god that represents the dawn that slays the darkness, and each of his horses are the seven colors of the rainbow, another association to the sky, rain and storms. He is one of the five of the Smarta, considered icons to form the Brahman."
"...Oh." The History Compilation Committee member paled at the realization.
"He is Surya, God of the Sun."
