Hedgehog Unleashed Saga Episode 4: Savanna Continent, the First Gaia Temple
By the next day, Sonic, Eve, Chip, and Tails are still on the Tornado 1, making their way back to Mazuri to find the first Gaia Temple. And since the sun has risen, Sonic has reverted back to his original state.
"Are we there yet?" Chip asks.
"Not yet, Chip. but we're almost there," Eve says.
"I sure hope we can find the Gaia Temple before anything happens," Tails says.
"Yeah. there's no surprise that Eggman will be annoyed to learn that we rescued Professor Pickle and get the Gaia Manuscript," Sonic says.
"I can imagine," Eve says.
"And we're back, Mazuri," Tails says.
Everyone looks to see the savanna-like country with tall grass, less trees, and some rocks and boulders, along with some animals living there.
"And look, there's one of the villages, but… um, it looks like they got company," Chip says.
Sonic, Eve, and Tails look over and see that Dr. Eggman is in his Egg Mobile along with a group of Egg Fighters who have gathered around the villagers and are ready to attack. The villagers are in a form of defense against the Egg Fighters with the younger children hiding behind them. Various chatter of anger and fear can be heard from the villagers as they look at Dr. Eggman.
One of the villagers, Yawa, confronts Eggman, "Wh-who are you?!"
Dr. Eggman laughs, "Oh ho ho ho! Fear not my good villagers! If you all behave, I won't have to do anything nasty. All you need to do is tell me where the Temple of Gaia is."
Soon, one of the children, Kwod shouts, "We're not telling you anything!" And throws a rock at Dr. Eggman, which is a bullseye, leaving him dazed.
Another villager, Kwami, pulls Kwod back while the rest of the village men get into defensive positions. Gwek holds both of his arms out as if to tell his villagers to avoid provoking Dr. Eggman further.
Meanwhile, SA-55 laughs at Eggman. SA-55 is a diminutive robot with a round head composed of a semi-spherical white cap with a smaller black semi sphere under it for a lower face. Its lower face can separate to reveal a cover, representing its mouth, and it has two grey-framed and pupil-less eyes. It also has a ball joint for a chest and red gloves for hands. Its arms and back consist of two thin bars that are joined by a ball joint. Its lower body is a small semi sphere with a gray inside and a ball joint connecting it to its back. It also has pink eyes and mouth, while the rest of its body is pretty much all-black with a few white joints.
Seeing what happened, Sonic, Eve, Tails, and Chip end up laughing in response.
"Bullseye!" Sonic says.
"Nice shot," Eve says.
Then Sonic says, "Come on sis, those guys might need some help."
"Yep," Eve says.
And with that, the two hedgehogs hop off the Tornado and towards where the action is. Chip follows from behind, hanging on to Sonic
Back on the ground, Dr. Eggman folds him back together and is not pleased, "So you dare to defy me, do you?"
And with that, Sonic and Eve perform Spin dashes and destroy the Egg Fighters.
"Wh-whaaat?!" Eggman responds confused, and looks up to see who it is, "Sonic! And Eve!"
Soon, both hedgehogs land on the ground with Eggman.
"Yo, Eggman. Thanks for that little skydiving adventure the other day!" Sonic says in remark.
"Yeah. Sadly I was knocked out and ended up missing the fun," Eve says in remake.
Eggman is rather irate, "I should have known you'd still be alive, you stubborn little hedgehogs!"
"What are you doing out here?" Sonic demands.
"And what are you planning?" Eve adds.
"I see no reason to tell you! In any case, I'm busy. Farewell!" Eggman says.
He then closes the dome, deploys his engines, and flies away in his Egg Mobile.
This has Chip confused, "Wha-?" And calls out, "Hey! Wait!" flies up and tries to grab Dr. Eggman while the villagers look on, "That's playin' dirty! Come back!"
"Just ignore him," Sonix says.
"Yeah. We're glad that he's gone," Eve says.
Then turns to the villagers, "Is everyone here all right?"
The majority of the villagers answer Sonic and thank him.
Meanwhile, Yawa looks in the direction Dr. Eggman fled and Chip continues to grab after Dr. Eggman
Soon, the village elder, Gewk walks over and says, "Thank you for helping us."
"Hey, it's no problem," Sonic says.
"But we could use your help with something," Eve says.
"What is it?" Yama asks.
"We're looking for a temple, called the Gaia Temple," Eve says.
"We're looking for it, and we need to get there fast," Sonic says.
"Before that mean guy decides to cause more trouble," Chip adds.
"You need to make your way through the Savanna Citadel. The Gaia Temple is at the end of the wooden path," Yama says, "The entrance to the path is around one of the largest trees."
"Thanks for the help," Sonic says.
"Then let's hurry and find the temple before Eggman does," Eve says.
"Let's go," Chip says.
With that, the three then hurry off from the village and travel through Mazuri at top speed. They speed left and right and reach a stone city. The three notice the buildings and other platforms around as they speed through.
"Wow. This place looks amazing," Eve says.
"Yeah, but we don't have time to sight see," Sonic says.
"Aww," Chip says, disappointed.
Soon, the two speed through the cities as they jump up and speed across the walls, and of course, having to deal with Dr. Eggman's robots. They soon speed out of the stone city and soon reach the forest area. The two continue speeding across the forest and down a path. Soon enough, the group soon reaches a very large and tall tree.
"That must be the tree," Eve says.
"And look," Chip points out.
Sonic and Eve look up to see a wooden path connected to the large tree and go out into the forest area.
"That must be it," Sonic says, "Let's go."
The hedgehogs pick up speed as they go up the ramps, and jump on a few platforms up, and continue climbing their way up the tree and up the wooden paths that lead to the path they're looking for. And in no time, they reached the platform they're looking for.
"There we are, and this must be the wooden path that will take us to the Gaia Temple," Chip says.
"Yeah. We'll be there in no time," Eve says.
"Then let's go," Sonix says.
And with that, the three speed ahead across the wooden path.
Time has passed, and they continue running down a wooden path that will get them to the Gaia Temple.
Soon enough, they manage to catch up to Dr. Eggman in his Egg Mobile. Flying beside him is a rather large robot.
The robot resembles a stag beetle. It is made of purple-coated metal, it has a round cephalothorax which the Egg Mobile can fit into, a large abdomen with a grey, yellow and green missile launcher on top and a landmine-deployer on the bottom, six green-tipped legs with rockets on them, and a pair of large and flexible pincers which emit flaming orange energy.
Soon, Sonic and Eve are able to reach them.
Sonic calls out, "Eggman!"
Dr. Eggman turns and notices the two hedgehogs, "Rrgh! How'd you get here so quickly? No matter. Your road ends here!"
Dr. Eggman then flies up in front of the two hedgehogs with the robot as they slide to a stop.
"Behold! My new power!" Eggman says, and calls out, "'Egg Beetle,' GO!"
Dr. Eggman joins his Egg Mobile with the Egg Beetle and is prepared for battle. The Egg Beetle clamps its pincers together to show it is ready for combat. Sonic gets ready for the fight while Chip flies up beside him, striking a pose.
Eve giggles in response.
"Egg Beetle, really?" Sonic asks.
"Well, it does look like a stag beetle," Eve says.
Soon, the Egg Beetle begins to fly away, backwards.
"After him!" Sonic says.
And soon, the group of three head off after him. The three continue to race after Eggman and his robot, hoping to catch him.
Eggman sees this and laughs, "Ah, you unsuspecting little hedgehogs! My Egg Beetle's claws will tear you to shreds!"
He presses the buttons and shouts, "Bombs away!"
And soon the Egg Beetle begins to drop bombs on the tracks.
"Look out!" Eve cries out.
Sonic and Eve speed past the bombs as Eggman continues to have his robot deploy them.
"We gotta get close to him!" Sonic says.
"Then let's speed up!" Eve says.
Sonic and Eve increase their speed as they get closer. Once they're close the Egg Beetle is ready to pinch them.
"Get ready to get pinched!" Eggman says.
The robot tries to pinch them, but they both jump and spin dash the beetle.
"Hey!" Eggman shouts.
Sonic and Eve smirk as they look at each other and continue to spin dash Eggman's Egg Beetle.
"Hey! Stop that!" Eggman shouts.
He then has his robot throw more bombs and pick up speed.
Sonic and Eve manage to land on the ground and chase after him.
"Come on Egghead, we're just getting started!" Eve shouts and spin dashes him.
Sonic then has a turn at the spin dash, "Yeah. Your little robot bug is going to get squashed."
The two hedgehogs continue to spin dash at Eggman's robots as it bounces back.
Eggman then has enough and decides to fly off of the wooden path.
"Where did he go?" Sonic asks.
Eve turns to her left side, "There he is!"
Sonic turns to his left to see Eggman's Egg Beetle flying from the side.
Eggman then presses a button and shouts, "Take this!"
And the robot begins to launch missiles towards them from the side.
Chip panics, "Here they come!"
Sonic and Eve use their speed to dodge the missiles and avoid being hit by them.
"Bombs away!" Eggman says and has more bombs fired at them.
Sonic and Eve see more of the spike bombs coming towards them and so they jump, duck, and slide under them.
"Try these hedgehogs!" Eggman says, and uses the direction to try to pinch them with the robot.
Sonic slides down to duck as Eve jumps up. Then both of them spin dash at each pincer, causing each other to break.
"Hey!" Eggman cries out.
Sonic and Eve see Eggman flying back onto the track as his robot's pincers break. They both do a double spin dash and knocks Eggman's Egg Beetle right on the track, calling to to tumble and fall apart, losing power in the process.
Sonic says, "Hah! Same as ever, all bark and no bite!"
"Yeah," Eve says.
Soon, Eggman shakes off his dizziness and sees the hedgehogs are heading towards them.
"You think you've bested me hedgehogs, but I'll be back!" Eggman says.
He then has the Egg Mobile removed from the robot before flying off.
"Hey! He's getting away!" Sonic shouts.
"Get back here!" Chip calls out.
However, by the time they arrived at the destroyed robot, Eggman was already gone.
"He got away again," Chip says.
"Yeah, but at least we took care of that robot," Eve says.
Chip then flies over to the ledge and notices something.
"Guys, over here!" Chip calls out.
Sonic and Eve rush to where Chip is, and look to see that within the large tree, along with some fabric banners, there is a large temple.
"Is that the Temple of Gaia?" Sonic asks.
"It must be," Eve says.
"Let's check it out," Chip says.
The three nod their heads and make a b-line for the Gaia Temple.
After some jumping and some speed, the three have reached the Gaia temple. The group looked up at the tall structure. With that, the group walks inside the temple and down the halls through the Gaia temple. On each side of the temple there are glowing crystals that are able to shine light within the temple.
Chip is amazed, "Whoa! Awesome!"
"What IS this place!" Sonic asks.
"It looks like a kind of chamber," Eve wonders.
The group looks around and notices at the end of the hall, there appears to be a large center area with cyan blue bowls of fire around the center floor. There also seems to be a design on the wall in the back.
Then Chip notices something at the center and points to it, "Hey, Sonic! There's something weird here, right in the middle!"
Chip flies over to the middle of what appears to be a small altar, and looks down into the recess.
Chip looks down in it, "Hey, what's this hole?"
"Chip, wait!" Eve calls out.
"She's right!" Sonic calls and reaches out, "There could be some kind of-"
The Gaia Temple briefly shakes and the altar and Chip's necklace start glowing
That causes Chip to panic, "Whoa, wha-? HEY!"
Sonic and Eve stand ready while Chip hides behind Sonic when a smaller pedestal emerges from the altar. Sonic, Eve, and Chip slowly approach and look down at the pedestal
"Hmm? What's that?" Chip asks.
"It looks like a pedestal," Eve says.
Suddenly, Eve notices a strange green glow coming from her sword.
Eve brings out the Master Emerald Sword and looks at it.
"My sword, it's glowing," Eve says.
Sonic then brings out the Chaos Emerald, and it's starting to show a dim green glow, just like Eve's sword.
"I think this is where the Emerald is supposed to go," Sonic says.
"Let's try it," Eve says.
Sonic then places the green Chaos Emerald on the pedestal. The Chaos Emerald rises into the air and the three watch in awe as the Chaos Emerald's power is restored. Then a bit of the green power also enters into Eve's sword.
Chip cheers, "Wahoo! The emerald's come back to life!"
"Yeah, and in doing so, restore a bit of the sword's power," Eve adds.
"This was the Temple of Gaia!" Sonic says, "That's got to be why Eggman was so keen on taking the place over."
Just then, the Temple of Gaia begins to shake again, causing everyone to yelp, "Whoa! Ohh ahh!"
"Here we go agaaaain!" Chip cries out.
A column of light shoots into the air from Mazuri's Gaia Temple and a wave moves across the land. Of course, the residents who lived there, have felt the quake, making them feel uneasy. In space, Mazuri's continent moves back into place on Mobius' mantle and reconnects with it with a blue glow, and the shaking has stopped.
Meanwhile, Sonic, Eve, and Tails rush out of the temple.
Suddenly, they hear Tails' voice calling out, "Sonic! Good news!"
Sonic and Eve stop, causing Sonic to drop Chip on the ground. Tails flies in.
Tails explains, "The planet! One of the broken pieces of the planet moved back into place!"
"All right!" Sonix says, and points at Chip, "Nice job!"
Sonic shares a hive-5 with Chip, causing Chip to spin around and away from Sonic like the high-5 dazed him.
Tails pulls out his Miles Electric, "Take a look!"
Everyone looks to see a video on the Miles Electric that shows Mazuri's continent moving back into place on Mobius' mantle and reconnecting with it with a blue glow.
"Sweet!" Sonic says, impressed.
"Helping the emeralds restore its power must have helped the planet's continent shift back to its proper place.
"At this rate, you'll have the whole world back together in no time!" Tails says.
"A planet-sized jigsaw puzzle? Sounds like a great excuse to see the world!" Sonic says.
"Oh Sonic," Eve says with a giggle, "Don't we already do that on a daily basis."
"Anyway, we better get back to Spagonia and figure out where to go from here, and I'm sure the professor would want to hear about this," Tails says.
Sometime later, by the time they are at Spagonia, the sun is almost fully set. As soon as the sun is fully down, Sonic feels the pain again and changes into Sonic the Werehog.
"I'm never going to get used to this," Sonic says.
"Don't Sonic, once all this is over, you'll be back to yourself in no time. Then again, despite you being big and hairy, you're always you," Eve says.
"Eve's right, Sonic," Tails says.
"Yeah, you'll always be you," Chip says.
"Thanks guys," Sonic says.
The gang then walks along the city of Spagonia in the night to talk to him about restoring a piece of the planet.
Suddenly, a familiar someone comes running from behind, "Found you, Sonic!"
And she hugs Sonic with her eyes closed, causing Sonic to yelp, "Gah?!"
"Awww, Sonic! I've been looking for you forEVER!" Amy says.
Sonic turns to Amy, "H-hey, lemme go!"
"Heh heh, you're crazy if you think you can get away from... ...Amy Rose, and... ...Ummm…" Amy says, and finally opens her eyes and she and Sonic the Werehog look at each other.
"Uh hi, Amy," Eve speaks out.
Amy soon turns to see Eve and Tails, "Oh, hi guys."
And notices Sonic the Werehog, "Who are you?"
"That's Sonic, Amy," Eve says.
"So-Sonic…?" Amy questions.
She then gently moves away and looks at him. Amy looks very confused, but soon notices those green eyes.
That's when Amy recognizes him, "Sonic, is that really you?"
"Hey Amy," Sonix says, sheepishly waving.
"Wha-What happened to you?" Amy asks, shocked.
"Amy!" Maria's voice calls out.
Everyone turns to see Maria, Cosmo, and Jazz running towards them.
"We were looking for you and…" Cosmo says, but she, and the others stop and gasp to see Sonic the Werehog.
Sonic waves, "Hi girls, how are you all doing?"
"Sonic?" Maria asks, shocked.
"Is that you?" Cosmo asks.
"It's me," Sonic answers.
"What happened to you?" Cosmo asks.
"It's going to be hard to explain," Eve says.
"Yeah. I kind of have a problem," Sonic says.
