CHAPTER 358
Ms. Murdock stood upon the very edge of the pallets, her toes hanging over the thirty foot drop. The plank of wood beneath her boots was creaking and cracking as she thought about her death.
"I suppose I'll just pitch over the edge until I'm free falling upside down to ultimately land on my skull whereupon it will split open in a sudden and violent burst and finally put an end to all this madness." She waved her hand out over the concrete pad. "My brains will be all spattered about…"
Joan leaned forward. The board underneath her creaked and split. There was little more pressure it could take before giving way.
Falcon looked on at Ms. Murdock from below with judgement in her eye. The utahraptor watched with a quiet patience, seeming to understand what it was Joan was about to do.
Joan took one last deep breath and was ready to fall forward, but a large figure emerged behind the clan of raptors, and it gave Ms. Murdock pause.
An enormous head. A tapering snout. A brow of bone and scales over the eyes. This creature was clad in tough skin and had a protruding dorsal ridge upon its back. A biped. A carnivore. Joan's mind raced. It was big like a tyrannosaur. What was it? It fully came out of the trees, its sharp teeth bearing in the sun. It's body bulged with muscle, and its tail whacked at the air.
This was the unclassified theropod, the one that was nick named Gigantor.
Falcon saw Ms. Murdock's eye line change. She watched her expression shift to a glimmer of hope. Falcon turned and made eye contact with Gigantor, and there was a still moment where what could happen next was anybodies guess.
