CHAPTER 362

Vulture, Roadkill, Needles, and Ghost had all risked venturing out into the shallows to try and lure the spinosaurus away from the remaining clan. There were only half of them left. They had to get the spinosaurus away from the others and then get her away from the boats, or there would be no chance of escape. Rebirtha was near by. If they could put the spinosaurus in the path of the tyrannosaur then the two beasts would clash, allowing enough time to get away. Vulture and the three velociraptors had been barking and running back and forth at the spinosaurus for some time. Dr. Levine, Kyra, and Seth were all yelling and waving their arms, but the carnivore simply wasn't interested. Finally Seth picked up a stone and threw it at the dinosaur's head. It missed, but he picked up and threw another. This one struck the side of the animal's face, near its eye. It paused and blinked, but then kept attacking the raptors in the water. Dr. Levine had seen this and she picked up a larger stone and threw it at the spinosaurus. This one struck in a similar place, and this time the dinosaur turned. As it faced Dr. Levine, she, and Kyra, and Seth all hurled stones that struck various parts of the theropod's head. The spinosaurus roared and started wading their way. It's head and body lifted out of the river, and sheets of water poured off its scales.

"Time to run." Dr. Levine shouted.

Kyra was already backing up. "We can't outrun that thing!"

At that moment Vulture ran up and crouched beside Dr. Levine. Roadkill knelt in front of Seth, and Needles bowed next to Kyra.

"Get on!" Dr. Levine yelled.

Kyra really didn't trust what she was about to do, but the water was swelling up around them as the spinosaurus neared. Grabbing a fist full of quills at Needle's neck she threw her body over his back. Seth did likewise with Roadkill.

Dr. Levine barely had a chance to steady herself upon Vulture's hide before all three beasts were off with Ghost running alongside. The spinosaurus snapped her jaws through the group, and the raptors dodged her attacks. They did not run at full speed as to keep the spinosaurus enticed. Kyra felt a rush of wind blow past her, and ducked as the theropod's long jaws swished by.

"Faster!" Kyra yelled as the jagged teeth of the carnivore snapped by her head again.

Needles dodged aside and kept going. The raptors ran past the boathouse rubble and then made their way up toward the concrete pad where the pallets were stored. With the spinosaurus still at their heels their plan was working.
