CHAPTER 366
Daniel had gotten to his feet. He watched the blood pouring out of Joan's belly as she staggered. He looked around the cage at all the howling raptors, then he looked back at Joan.
The dirt around her feet was red. She wasn't saying anything. She was just looking at him. Daniel could see that she was getting weaker.
Ms. Murdock took the rebar in her hand and jabbed it into the ground. Using it as a crutch she knelt. Closing her eyes Ms. Murdock looked up and waited.
The surrounding velociraptors had fallen silent. Falcon was standing near, and she shifted her plumage with a snort.
Daniel stepped up to Ms. Murdock, raised his pry bar, and rammed the sharp end straight down behind her sternoclavicular notch. Joan remained kneeling for a moment with the hooked side of the bar poking up out of the base of her throat, then her body toppled with a thud.
