(Trails of Cold Steel II ost - Ymir Canyon)
"Ymir Valley..." Levi looking around. "It's been a while since we were here..."
"There's snow as far as the eye can see." Altina remark.
"It's like this area of the mountain is still stuck in the middle of winter. " Juna said.
"People usually don't trik this far out, so the snow remains fresh." Rean told them. "It's also a little colder here because of the mountain stream, too."
Kurt look at the stream. "I thought that might be it."
"It's so beautiful." Musse said as she stared, seeing Spheals, Sealeos, Finneons, Remoraids, Goldeens, Seels, and Shellders. "Oh there are Water Pokemon here too in the water! Does the water come from melted snow?"
"Yeah. It's still freezing cold, though,so watch your step and don't fall in. Otherwise you might end up getting the horns from the Goldeens." Rean said. "But I think the Sealeos are kind enough to help you out of the water since they're both Ice and Water Types. So the cold never bothers them. There are also other Pokemon living in the area. Although I can't say for sure which one."
"Wait, hold on. I got a feeling that considering the view of Fish Pokemons, it would also be a good fishing spot?" Levi asked, giving the 'I know what you're thinking of the scream look.'
Rean chuckled "You know me so well, Levi.
"Well, what did you expect for someone who knows you, fish for brains." Ash comment.
"So savage, aren't you, Ash?" Venti chuckled.
"We should make our way up the path." Claire smiled. "Keep your eyes peeled, everyone. The slightest mistake from this point on could cost you your life."
"Well, that was omnious." Venti comment.
"But she's not wrong with the monsters in the area, not just the Pokemon." Levi pointed out. "There's also the part with the narrow path too, so avoid having a battle there. 'But why would she say that all of a sudden? For caution? No... Something's up...'
Whatever. We've dealt with what's worse than these chumps." Ash palm fist
"It wouldn't hurt to be cautious." Musse advised.
"True. Let's make sure our equipment, Pokemon, and our orbments are ready to go before we start climbing the path!" Juna agreed. "Oh, that reminds me. I'm sure our Pokemon would also like to come out too."
"True, why don't we bring them out?" Musse suggested.
"Sounds like a good idea." Rean nodded as he pull out his Pokeball. "Come on, Charizard!" He called out and then his Charizard came out of his Pokeball as he roared.
Levi, Juna, Kurt, Altina, Venti, Musse, and Ash brought out their Pokeballs and came out were Levi's Baxcalibur, Juna's Quaquaval, Kurt's Empoleon, Altina's Blastoise, Venti's Meowscarada, Musse's Samurott, and Ash's Skeledirge. Although Meowscarada is shivering
"M-M-Meow..." Meowscarada shivered.
Claire pull out her Pokeball and came out was a Vanilluxe .
"Oh, I didn't know you have a Pokemon now, Claire." Levi said.
"Well, everyone is having Pokemon these days. I'm just sorry mine came so late because I was busy with work." Claire smiled. "After the Great Twilight, I was on a mission and I encountered some Pokemon that I like. So I catch them with a Pokeball and train them. Millium been teaching me how to do Pokemon Battles which are no so different when it comes to tactics and moves. There was this one move that my Vanilluxe has that is quite powerful. Ever heard of Sheer Cold?"
"Sheer Cold?" Musse asked. "Not that I'm aware of."
"Well, it's a "killer" move as Millium would put it. For example." Claire turn around and see a couple of monsters minding their own business. "Vanilluxe, Sheer Cold those monsters."
"Van~!" Vanilluxe flew toward the monsters, giving a smirked as his body glows light blue and releases a wave of light blue energy, freezing anything around it. The monsters that were caused by it were killed on the spot.
Everyone sweatdrop.
"Took them down with just one hit?" Kurt asked, feeling scared.
"Sheer Cold is a move where it literally makes a K.O. Hint a "killer" move." Claire smiled
Levi sweatdrop. "Claire, you suddenly earn more reputation as the Icy Maiden."
Claire chuckled. "I have a couple of Ice Pokemon. I thought it was fitting since I am the Icy Maiden who specializes in Ice Types."
"That just makes you more frightening." Altina grumbled.
"Well, in any case, we should be going." Claire said as they take off.
They encounter a couple of Mist Flowers, Icicoons and Snow Felines who spot them and charge to attack them, only for Charizard to throw Flamethrower at them, and the Rean dash forward, cutting one down and the other as Juna dashes forward with punches and kicks, knocking a few away as Claire and Venti fired their shots, killing them.
"Eh. The Monsters are a bunch of pushovers but what gives, Major?" Juna asked.
"Just stay alert and keep your eyes forward." Claire said as they keep going forward.
"Heh. Take a down a nouch, girl. No need to be so on edge." Ash said.
'Hmm...' Venti narrowed his eyes at Claire's warning as they encountered a powerful money monster.
"That's a big-ass monkey." Ash comment.
"It looks stronger than the other monsters here—including some of the Pokemon too. And a lot more aggressive."
"Perhaps because I sense the higher elements are in place here." Levi remark, getting their attention. "Normally, they're only active in spiritual places. But I can sense them along the road, too."
Musse rub her chin. "It wouldn't have been the least bit surprising during the Twilight, but it's concerning now."
"You're right. I don't sense anything else that would be amiss, but we should keep our guards up." Rean advised. "And let's defeat that monster while we're at it."
"Raar." Charizard nodded in agreement.
"Understood." Altina nodded. "Would this be a good opportunity to utilize a United Front, then?"
"Oh yeah. That's the new feature to the ARCUS Alpha that was tested right now, right?" Venti asked.
Juna place her finger to her chin. "I remember hearing that Professor Schmidt is in charge of its development."
"Its goal is to recreate the link phenomenon that occurred with the Divine Knights during the Great Twilight." Claire said. "It bypasses the ARCUS' usual limitations by allowing five or more people to form a combat link at once."
"It sounds similar to Emblem Lucina's All for One attack." Kurt's said. "Come to think of it, didn't Bowser and his group did something similar back in Pi'illo Island?"
"Yeah. It was an all out attack." Rean nodded.
Claire nodded. "Right. After hearing about it, the ZCF, Gadd Science, Atlas Team, Professor Kokonoe, Ludwig and the Epstein Foundation are aiding in the feature's development as well. With the help of Emblem Lucina to collect data."
"Oh so that explains why Professor Schmidt ask me for Alear, Amia and Emblem Lucina that day..." Rean rub his chin.
"Hah. As if these orbments needed another busted feature." Ash said
"I heard it does have its limitations. Only those who are connected at the end of the Twilight can use it." Kurt chin in. "It could be a revolutionary feature if they find a way to bring it to a wider audience."
"That much is true. The state at which technology is being developed never cease to amaze me." Rean smiled. "Class VII being given the opportunity to help with ARCUS development again. We'll be formally providing the team test data by using the feature. The monster is the perfect opportunity to get a head start on that."
"Sounds good to me. I want to give it a shot!" Juna fist pump.
"Shall we ready ourselves for a fight, then?" Musse suggest.
"Yep." Levi pull his Glaive. "Let's do this."
Levi throw his Glaive at the back of Sasquatch's back, causing it to roar as Levi dash, jump and pull off his Glaive and bounce off as Sasquatch turn its back to face them, letting out a roar as it belly drum and then charged toward them as everyone split up.
"All for One!" Rean took his stand as the ARCUS Alpha begin to produce a golden glow on everyone and the Pokemon.
"And One for All!" They yelled as they dashed toward Sasquatch, dealing immense damage of slashing through its body and attacking with Moves and then kill it.
"Wow! This United Front thing is amazing!" Juna cheered.
"It truly is. I wasn't expecting us to make quick work of such a formidable foe." Kurt admit.
"You were right. Using it did remind me of the sensation I felt during the Twilight." Altina replied.
"Yeah. It also reminds me a little of the Overdrive ability we were able to use during the civil war. And this does add up to Emblem Lucina's All for One Emblem Attack too. Though this feature is clearly much stronger than ever that."
"Aww." Musse giggled "What a shame I didn't get to experience that feature with you, too~"
"Down girl." Ash sighed. "I'm just glad it's useful. I can see us kickin' a lot of ass with it in a real fight."
Levi looking at the ARCUS Alpha and notice the Charge Gauge was half empty. "But it looks like it cost a filled charge gauge. So maybe if we want to use it again, we gotta fill out the charge gauge."
"True enough." Claire nodded. "I'm sure we'll get plenty of use out of it while traveling in such a large group. Let's not forget to use it when we can."
"Let's not forget to use it when we can." Rean said
"That would be for the best. So shall we get moving again? Our Destination isn't far from here."
"Right. Let's be off." Levi agreed as they took off.
"We're past the halfway point, but we still haven't seen anything of note." Altina remark. "All the more reason not to let out guard down. We don't know who's lying up ahead— or what they have planned for us."
'Oh, I can think of a few whos and whats...' Musse thought while Rean and Levi are being cautious.
'I get the feeling this is something serious after all...' Venti thought as they keep going until they arrived at the bridge nearing the mountain summon
They stop at the large clearing.
"I apologize for the wait, your Excellency." Clare spoked
"You're exactly on time. It just turned midday." A voice spoked as they turn and see a familiar man, causing Kurt to have an ! over his head. Accompany him was an Electrivire.
Rean gasped "It couldn't be..."
"Father?!" Kurt asked in shock as Matteus turn to face the group.
"Oh! I think I remember him during the EAF attack." Juna said.
"He is both House Vander and its school of swordsmanship head—Matteus Vander, the Thunder God. He and Viscount Arseid are known as the strongest swordsman in Erebonia." Altina informed
"Yeah, I remember that EAF leader chick kick his ass into a bloody pulp." Ash said. "But why is he here?"
"I get the impression he was waiting for us." Musse said.
"Yeah, you're right... And I see he has an Electrivire too." Venti muttered. 'But what's really going on here? Is he going to tell us or what?'
"It's good to see you, Your Excellency. " Rean said.
"What does bring you here, Father?" Kurt asked.
Matteus close his eyes for a moment until he open them firmly. "Raise your weapons."

Juna blinked. "Uhh... Sorry?"
"I sense no threats in the vicinity." Altina said, until Venti had an ! over his head as Kurt sense the attack as Matteus charged to attack them but Kurt and Levi step in and blocked the attack as they was pushed back while Rean and Venti got their weapons out.
"Wh-What's going on?"
"Prove your strength to me." Matteus spoked. "If you cannot defeat me by 3PM, you will be disqualified."
The group except Claire has an ! over their heads.
"Disqualified from what?" Juna asked
"Oh, I get it..." Venti spoked. "We're under a trial to see if we're worthy to take part in something serious, isn't it?" Venti asked, causing everyone except Claire to have an ! over their heads.
(Trails into Reverie ost - Swords of Swords)
"So this is the 'special assessment' then." Levi turn to Claire. "And that you're also a part of it, aren't you Claire."
Claire nodded. "Corrected. I'll give credit to Venti for catching on and carefully considering my warning earlier that the slightest mistake here may cost you your life."
"So we're up against you and the Thunder God."
"You gotta be kidding me..." Juna muttered
"The Odds are not in our favor." Altina muttered.
"Get ready for battle, everyone!" Rean stated "We'll be sitting ducks if we don't fight back!"
"I'll take the lead, Instructor!" Kurt took his stand. "Empoleon, let's go!"
"With me, Charizard!" Rean yelled as they dashed toward Matteus while Claire pull out a remove.
"A remote?" Levi asked until he, Venti, Musse, Ash, Baxlicabur, Meowscarada, Skeledirge, and Samurott noticed a field of energy appearing underneath their feet. "Crap! Guys, get out now!" He yelled as Juna, Altina, Blastoise and Quaquaval jump away in time before the force field pulled them into a trap. "Augh!"
"No!" Juna yelled.
"They let themselves be caught so that we could escape." Altina muttered.
"Blastoise." Blastoise growled.
"Levi! Venti! Ash! Musse! Baxlicabur! Meowscarada! Samurott! Skelegirge!" Rean yelled.
"Pay attention." Matteus spoked as Electrivire charged in for Thunder Punch with incredible strength as Rean block it and Kurt used Twilt Blade 2 on his Father and Empoleon throw Ice Beam but Matteus jump to dodge and then swing down his Greatsword with immense strength, causing Rean, Charizard, Kurt and Empoleon dodged and they take off to Eisengard Range.
"Instructor! Kurt!" Juna yelled.
"We're the only ones left to fight..." Altina muttered. "It appears to be an orbal mine powered by several control devices, operated remotely and intended to restrain. When did you set all of this up?"
"When I came to survey the area before getting in the hot springs." Claire answered. "I was hoping to immobilize the fourteen of you at once. But unfortunately, the ten of them notice the trap's range early enough to save you."
"This is supposed to be the 'special assignment'?!" Juna grumbled. "Isn't this so..."
"Are you searching for the word 'cowardly?'" Claire asked "In real combat, you can't assume your opponents will always follow a code of honor. You know that. You experienced the same tactics Organization XIII uses during your battle in the Keyblade Graveyard, did you not?"
"That's..."
"Besides, my greatest strength is catching foes off guard—and I told you, I won't be holding back."
"Because you recognized our strength, right?"
"I would be honored by the compliment if you didn't have your gun trained on us. Let alone your Vanilluxe ." Altina muttered.
"Still, I was able to remove your class assistant whose prowess in physical and magical, skill in intuition, observation, and cognition. As well as your greatest supporter who can also catch enemy off guard with both arrows and magic, your greatest tactical mind, and the ever-unpredictable Ash. Including their Pokemon. I'm sure you realized this is one of the worst situations you could find yourselves in. Rean, Charizard, Kurt and Empoleon stand no chance of victory against the Thunder God and his Electrivire without reinforcements, either. In short, this is checkmate for you."
"Don't count on us out yet!" Juna glared.
"Precisely!" Altina agreed as she and Juna took their stand. "This is hardly the first time we have been faced with impossible odds."
"I don't know what this special assignment is, but if you think Class VII will give up so easily, oyu're in for a rude awakening!" Juna declared. "We'll overcome this trial just like we have all the others!"
Claire let out a small smirk before turning serious. "Very well. Then show me what you can do! Vanilluxe !"
"Vanilluxe !" Vanilluxe nodded with a grin and form a Pokemon link.
Icy Duo - Claire Rieveldt and Vanilluxe
Juna forms a combat link with Altina as she forms a Pokemon link with Quaquaval and Altina a Pokemon link with Blastoise.
Claire begins to fire at them but Altina shields herself and Juna with Claiomh Solais as Blastoise uses Hydro Pump, but is stopped by Vanilluxe who used Ice Beam to intercept, causing an explosion. Quaquaval dashed to used Aqua Step but Claire dodged the attack and then countered with a kick to his head and then fired at him, pushing him back. Juna charged and threw a punch. Claire blocks with her arm, crescent kick her but Juna ducks and then punches Claire's stomach and then uppercut to knock her into the air as Altina throws magic projections at her. But Vanilluxe flew in and used Protect to shield Claire and landed in front of use. Vanilluxe unleashes a Blizzard attack
"Ngh!" Juna shield herself and begins shivering. "C-C-Cold!"
Claire and then fired Homing Shots at Altina, Blastoise, Juna and Quaquaval, hitting them. Quaquaval used Aqua Jet to tackle Claire while Blastiose fired Flas Cannon on Vanilluxe, dealing a Super Effective hit.
"Vanilluxe, Snowscape!" Claire command
"Vanillllll." Vanilluxe howls, summoning dark clouds and snow begins to call down.
"Snow?" Altina asked as Claire began firing shots. "Incoming!" She yelled as she dodged. "Hellzone Grenade!" Altina summoned multiple bombs and threw them toward Claire and Vanilluxe as they dodged the bombs, Juna dashed forward charged with electricity underneath her feet, and then dashed around in zig-zag movement and then dealing punches around Claire and Vanilluxe, appeared above and punched the ground with a lightning explosion.
Claire recovered as she fired shots at Juna, but Quaquaval deflected it with Aqua Step, then dashed toward for Close Combat. Claire shields herself until Quaquaval punches her away to the corner until Vanilluxe throws Freeze-Day onto Quaquaval, dealing a Super Effective hit.
"Qua!" Quaquaval winched.
"Quaquaval?!" Juna exclaimed.
"Blastoise, Flash Canon!" Altina command
"Blast!" Blastoise aim his cannon and fired silver energy at Vanilluxe.
"Dodge!" Claire commanded as Vanilluxe dodged. "Blizzard!"
"Vanilluxe!" Vanilluxe opens his mouth and unleashes a powerful blizzard.
"Augh! So cold!' Juna shielded herself along with Quaquaval, Altina, and Blastoise as Claire used her craft: Frigid Rain as she summoned an Ice Crystal from above and then aimed her rifle and fired at it, shattering and raining down the crystal shards into an explosion. "Augh!"
"Spiral Explosion!" Altina swung her arms and created a spiral vortex onto Claire and Vanilluxe and then Claiomh Solais formed into a drill and im toward the explosion spiral explosion.
The Spiral Explosion disbursed, revealing Vanilluxe used Protect to block off every attack as Claire charged and fired projections toward them. Blastoise used Projection on Altina and Claiomh Solais while Juna and Quaquaval dodged. Juna dashed toward Claire, throwing punches and kicks against her she dodged, and then the two went into combat with their fist until Claire punched her stomach, chopped her shoulder and to her forehead, and then aimed her orbal pistol and fire, knocking Claire Away as Quaquaval dash toward Vanilluxe for Close Combat but Vanilluxe shield itself by firing Ice Beam to the ground and float into the air. Vanilluxe rain down Icicles Crash toward them. Altina and Juna dodge as Blastoise and Quaquaval take the hit but don't do much damage.
Claire pulls out an Orbal Rifle and then begins firing strong orbal shots at Juna. Juna dashed toward them while Altina turned Claiomh Solais into a fist and charged to punch her. Claire jumped over, aimed, and fired a laser beam at Claiomh Solais, then Juna jumped up to throw a punch, but she blocked with her rifle and then fired at Juna back to the ground. Claiomn Solais catches her while Altina throws Soul Blur at Vanilluxe. Vanilluxe fired Ice Beam to counter it as Claire landed on her feet. Then she fired multiple orbal shots toward them. Quaquaval dodges the shot and dashes toward for a Liquidation attack on Claire as he swings combo on her, dealing damage onto her and slashing her away. Vanilluxe fired Freeze-Day on Quaquaval but he jumped away while Blastoise dashed toward him with Rapid Spin.
Vanilluxe and Claire take the hit as Altina dashes forward with Claiomh Solais, forming into a sword and slashing them. Claire swings her Rifle against Altina until they swing at each other. Juna moves around and then aim and fires bullets at them. Altina jumps back as she transforms Claiomh Solais into a canon and fire an energy sphere at her. Claire jumped high to avoid the attacks and then aimed and fired homing shots at Altina, Juna, Quaquaval, and Blastoise. Vanilluxe aimed toward the center of the battlefield and then used Sheer Cold as the area began to freeze.
"Sheer Cold! Juna! Watch out!" Altina yelled as Juna turned and have an ?! over her head as she and Quaquaval quickly jump over to the nearby ground while Altina and Blastoise move away.
Claire landed on her feet from the cliff and then fired multiple shots toward Juna, Altina, Blastoise, and Quaquaval as the shots surprised of how much it almost hit them.
"Ngh!" Juna growled as she, Altina, Blastoise, and Quaquaval took shelter at one of the walls.
"Her Vanilluxe is frightening with Sheer Cold." Altina muttered.
"Yeah, and they know how to work together too. We need to get some distance from those two and us for now." Juna stated
"Quaquaval." Quaquaval pointed to the mountain road.
"Right, let's head there and come up with a plan to defeat her and Vanilluxe. Juna said as they took off while Claire observed the scene.
"Your odds of defeating me aren't low—they're nonexistent." Claire said as she jump to higher ground with Vanilluxe, seeing Juna and Altina with their Pokemon in site. "As long as you have the slightest chance of victory, miracles can happen. That's how you and your class have made it this far." She begin casting orbal arts. "But once that chance has been completely snuffed out, no amount of struggle can change the ultimate outcome. Your defeat is assured." She throws Diamond Nova toward them as they look above them and jump into he icy water to shelder. Claire jump down with Vanilluxe and pull out another Pokeball and came out Cynogonal. "It's time to end this."
Meanwhile...
Matteus and Rean swinging at each other fiercely as Rean blocked his upcoming attack and then parried him, pushing back Matteus slightly as Kurt dashed forward for a combo slash, but Matteus block with his sword while Electivire threw Thunder Punch at Charizard, knocking him away as Empoleon fired Hydro Pump at him. Electrive blocked with his hand and then used Thunder Punch to shock the water and onto Emopleon who stopped firing and jumped away.
"Electivire!" Electivire roared as it unleashed Discharge onto the battlefield, forcing Rean, Kurt, Charizard who recovered and Empoleon to dodge them while Matteus imbued his sword with and send a wide slash projection.
"Kurt!" Rean yelled.
"On it!" Kurt yelled as he and Rean both readied themselves and cut the cleave the slash projection.
Charizard and Empoleon regroup with Kurt and Rean as they are being cornered by Matteus and Electivire.
"It seem we're being cornered..." Rean look around.
"Where are we, Instructor?" Kurt asked
"The Risengard Range. This is where I did the training I was telling you about earlier. Their gaol was clearly to separate us up... and unfortunately, they succeeded."
"What a poor show this is." Matteus approach with Electivire. "You'll have to do better if you ever hope to defeat me and Electivire."
"Electivire." Electivire smirked as he palm fist, charge with electricity.
"What is your goal here? Why is fighting part of the special assignment?" Rean asked
"Because we must. I owe you no further explanation." Matteus took his stand. "Or are you such a poor warrior that you cannot swing your blade without a cause to lessen its heft?"
"Save your words, Instructor. There's no getting through to him when he's like this." Kurt said
"Fine." Rean swing his sword and took his stand. "then we'll do this in a language he WILL understand!"
"Right!" Kurt took his stand
"Empol!" Empoleon took his stand with Charizard as he roared.
"At last! No more question. Show me your strength!" Matteus declared.
"Electivire!" Electivire roared.
The Thunder Duo - Matteus and Electivire
Rean form a combat link with Kurt. Rean form a Pokemon Link with Charizard and Kurt form a Pokemon link with Empoleon.
Matteus forms a Pokemon link with Electivire.
Rean dashes toward Matteus as they swing at each other then Kurt throws Twilit Blade 2 while Electivire and Charizard dash toward each other and they both swing at each other. Electivire goes for a Thunder Punch but Charizard dodges and counters with Dragon Claw and knocks it away while Empoleon uses Hydro Pump to push it further. Matteus push Rean and Kurt back and then sent out a slash projection at them. Rean cleave the projection while Kurt dashes toward and they swing at each other. Matteus reverse grip and swing at Kurt as he dodge by jumping over and then counter with an X slash on his father.
"Hmph!" He smirked from the damage and swing at Kurt to push him away.
Kurt block it as he slid, then Rean swoop in and slash him, but Matteus block and then clockwise spin slash. Rean jump over and they swing at each other. Matteus form an X slash strike but Rean block it and then counter with a slash attack that Matteus block it. He parried Rean and go for a slash, but he backflip, took a stand and then dash with superhuman speed and slash through Matteus. Rean then send out True Crimson Slash on Matteus as Kurt follow up by swing a combo against his father and kick him. Matteus hold his ground as he throw a punch at Kurt, pushing him away as he rolled but he recovered as he slid. Then he dashes toward his Father and they swing at each other, Rean then jump high enough and then cartwheel slash down. Matteus jump away, then dash with superhuman speed and slash them, but the two block and parry him, pushing him back.
Meanwhile, Charizard flew around Electivire and fire Flamethrower onto him but Electivire dodged and then unleashed Thunderbolt from its outlet toward him and Empoleon. Empoleon dodged and then used Sword Dance to boost its strength and then dashed toward Electivire for Liquidation. Electivire shield itself and then punch Electivire, then grabbed and toss him toward the wall as Charizard flew and slam into Electivire as he slid. Charizard throw Fire Blast at Electivire, causing aa powerful explosion. Electivire burst out of the smoke and throw Thunder Punch, knocking him away. Empoleon throw Hydro Pump on Electivire's back, getting him to turn and throw Thunderbolt.
Empoleon use Aqua Jet to dodge and then slam into Electivire. Electivire grabbed Empoleon and used Thunderbolt.
"Empoooooooo!" He winched as Electivire slam him to the ground.
Charizard flew in and used Flare Blitz and knock him away. Electivire and Matteus soon watch each other's back as Rean and Kurt ran up toward them. Matteus jump up as Electivire punh the ground to use Earthquake. Charizard grabbed Empoleon to dodge the Earthquake while Rean and Kurt jump up as Matteus imbued his sword with lightning and swing down a heavy blow, sending a power surge toward the latter slamming them to the wall.
"Ngh!" Rean grunted.
Rean dash toward Matteus as they swing at each other, then Electivire throw Thunder Punch at him, but Rean block as he was push away. Kurt dash toward and throw combo swings against Electivire and then cartwheel slash him. But Electivire throw an uppercut on Kurt, tossing him into the air and then throw Thunderbolt. Charizard swoop in and grabbed him in the neck of time.
"Thanks Charizard." He said as Charizard gentle drop him and they took their stand.
Empoleon dash toward to Matteus and they swing at each other.
"So you're Empoleon? I heard you're the Emperor Pokemon. You have the presence of one. But let us see if you have the strength to be one!" Matteus declared as he unleash a heavy swing to push Empoleon back.
Matteus dash toward and slash him, but Emopleon block it and they swing at each other until Empoleon thrust combo him and then fired Flash cannon onto him, pushing Matteus away. Kurt charge in and swing at him, damaging him until Matteus swing at him. Kurt jump high to dodge and then cartwheel slam as Matteus block. Kurt bounce off and imbues his sword with his magic and throw X slash projection at his father as he swings tod reflect them.
Meanwhile Rean slashes at Electivire who shields himself and counters by throwing a punch on Rean as he slid. Charizard flew in for Dragon Claw and Electivire counter with Thunder Punch, causing a shockwave between the two. They throw claws and fist at each other until they headbutted each other pushing each other away.
"Electivire!" He roared as he was cloak in electricity and then fired Discharge toward them.
"Charizard, watch out!" Rean yelled as he and Charizard dodged Dicharge and then Rean imbued his sword with fire and dash toward Electivire for a powerful slash.
Electivire slid back and then look excited as Charizard throw Flamethrower. Electivire jump and then dive toward Rean for Earthquake the moment he jump away and the shockwave knock him into the air as Charizard saw this and flew to grabbed him. Electivire then throw Thunder on them, shocking the both of them as they yelled in agony and fall to the ground.
"Ngh...!" Rean got back on his feet with Charizard. "The Thunder God's Electivire is no pushover."
Charizard got back on his feet and took his stand. "Raar!"
"Right. Come on!" Rean took his stand toward and then he swings at him.
Electivire shield himself with his arms and then throw punch and kicks as Rean dodge. Electivire's outlet flew to grabbed him but he backflipped and throw True Crimson slash to take the damage and Charizard Dragon Claw, knocking him away. Matteus and Kurt swing at each other still until Kurt combo strikes him to push him back.
"Hmm. Electivire. Switch." Matteus spoked.
"Electivire." Electivire nodded and switch opponents as he dash toward Kurt with Thunder Punch to push him away.
Matteus dash toward Rean and they clash their blades to each other in a power struggle. Rean jump back as Matteus swing at him, then Kurt dash toward his father where he sense him. Kurt throw in a slash but Matteus block with a Reverse Grip and push Kurt away.
"Is that all?" Matteus asked with a disappointed look. "I thought the "adventures" you had across the world and beyond has made you more formidable."
"Ngh! No, I can still fight!" Kurt growled as he took his stand.
"Hm?" Matteus look mused.
"Kurt!" Rean shout as he dash toward as he and Kurt dash toward Matteus who took his position and jump into the air as he avoided their slash as they look up.
"Pathetic." He spoked as his sword cloaked in green lighting and slam the ground hard, knocking Kurt off the cliff, causing Rean, Charizard and Empoleon watch in horror.
"KUUUUUUUURT!"
"He's not so weak as to be killed by such an insignificant fall. He will at most be confined to a hospital bed for a few months."
"Emp..." Empoleon gritted his teeth. "EMPOLEOOOOOOON!" He roared in rage and dash toward Matteus to slash him with Liquidation but he block and parried, pushing Emopleon back as he glared.
"Are you offended, Emperor Pokemon?"
"Of course he is!" Rean got back on his feet. "You throw your own son off a cliff! Why would you do that to him?!"
"There is no place for restraint in Vander school duels. He is merely paying the prince for his lack of skills." Matteus answered
"Empol..." Empoleon growled with Charizard.
"Being cruel to be kind requires some degree of kindness first, Your Excellency." Rean argued.
"Even if he does emerge unscathed, he won't make it back here before three. Kurt is, to be blunt... Disqualified." He pointed his sword to Rean. "You are the only one left to face me, Rean Schwarzer. You and your Charizard. Against me and my Electivire. Do not disappoint me."
Meanwhile with Juna and Altina...
"This doesn't make any sense!" Juna grumbled as Claire was seen shooting at them as Claiomh Solais shielded them
"Blaaaast!" Blastoise fired Hydro Pump from his cannon as Claire jump away and dodged.
"At this rate..." Altina muttered.
"C'mon! We'll hide under the bridge!" Juna stated as they hide under the bridge while Claire was shooting at them. "We need to get to Instructor Rean ASAP if we're going to figure out some way to help Levi, Ash, Venti and Musse."
"I agree—and we need to get out of this icy water before it saps any more of our strength. I think we should stand on blast—"
"Van!" A voice interrupted as Altina, Juna, Quaquaval and Blastoise had an ! Over their head and see a Vanilluxe. "Vanilluxeeeeee!" It unleashes Freeze-Dry toward them.
"Incoming!" Juna yelled as they dodged the attack.
"Cynogonal!" Another voice as Gynogonal used Freeze-Dry toward them as they jumped away.
"Wait, aren't Ice Type moves aren't super affected against water type?" Juna asked.
"Yes. But one Ice-Type move is super effective against water Type. Freeze-Dry!" Altina said as a mirror device was seen and Claire shot at them, forcing them to dodge.
"I hope you don't think just because my Pokemon can see and be with you down there but I can't?" Claire wondered as she began firing.
The Bullets shoot at them as Blastoise uses Protect to shield the group on the other side against Cynoongal and Vanilluex

"But how are we going to do that?" Venti groaned.
"Aren't you two supposed to gods or whatever. You can push through this!" Ash stated.
"Our bodies were designed to match humanity's growth. We can't just abandon being fair to you guys."
"Is this really the time to be fair?"
"Oh shut up, Ash." Levi grumbled. "It's not our fault that we wanted to be fair. It's not like we wanted to join the club."

"Understood!" Altina nodded. "Activating Arcadias Mode!"
Altina merge with Claiomh Solais into Arcadias Mode and then flew off.
"You're not getting away!" Claire aim her Orbal Rifle.
"Quaaaaaa!" Quaquaval jump out of the Icy Water and used Liquidation to punch Claire away.
"Augh!" She winched, rolling on the ground.
"Blast!" Blastoise fired Flash Cannon on Cryogonal.
"Cry!" Cryogonal fell into the Icy Water.
"Haha! Sorry Instructor Claire. We'd never pulled this off if you had used a nastier trap." Juna smirked.
With Altina...
"Activating Sonar Mode." Altina said as she sent a wavelength. "I'm detecting orbal mine control units—three in total within the vicinity!" She flew and destroy each one, freeing Musse, Ash, Venti and Levi. "Are you all alright?" Altina asked as she flew in.
"Perfectly now with you here, Allie~" Venti chuckled.
"Yeah, nicely done, Altina." Levi smiled as he and the others got their weapons out.
"I'm still a little numb, but I can fight. We should go make sure Ju—"
"I got it covered!" Ash take off and aim his hand and throw his chain magic to Juna's location. "Wild Filly! Grab on!" He yelled as Musse was firing toward Claire, Vanilluxe and Cryogonal.
"I'm on my way! Let's go, Quaquaval" Juna said as she reach to grab the chain and Quaquaval jumped in and did he same as Claire was returning fire to Musse's gunfire. "We're ready, Ash!"
"Better hold on for dear life!" Ash said as he pulled hard and Juna jumped and landed safely.
"Blastoise, return!" Altina recalled Blastoise and then toss her Pokeball again and came out Blastoise. "Welcome back."

Claire sighed then let out a smile. "What else can I do except say that you got me?"
"All right! Now we just gotta beat up that scary old guy and his electricity Pokemon by three, right?" Ash asked
"Yeah. Come on. Let's not keep Rean, Kurt, Charizard and Empoleon waiting." Levi nodded.

"All right. You and the Thunder God got some explaining to do once we beat him, Claire!" Levi said as they take off.

Back with Rean, Charizard, and Empoleon.

Rean and Matteus swing at each other fierce while Charizard and Electivire throw fist each other other as both of them throw fire and electricity at each other into an explosion as Empoleon slams into him with Aqua Jet. Meanwhile, Rean slash at Matteus, only for him to block and reverse flip him. Rean jump over and then swing down heavy. Matteus block, made the ground cracked a bit as Rean bounce off.
"Your spirit is admirable. You wield your blade well, Divine Blade." Matteus said. "You have the potential of surpassing Aurelia as a Swordsman as she said."
"She said that?" Rean asked.
"Yes. Your countless battles hone you well. As well as you are not holding back either. Were it reverse, I would say she's overestimated you."
"I see..." Rean close his eyes. " It's an honor to hear she thinks thas, but I'm not sure I can live up to the vision she has of me in her head. Still, if she's placing that much faith in me..." He took his stand. "I can't squander it by falling short here! Then show me that you can withstand my full strength!" He unleash his battle aura as Rean took a stand. Close his eyes for a moment and then open them, dash with insane speed, and clash his sword with Matteus's sword. They were lock on a power struggle until the Thunder God push Rean away as he slid. "Ngh!" He recovered as he took his stand.
"Hmm... Excellent. You may be a fledgling Divine Blade of the Eight Leave One Blade school... But you're one step closer within the realm of greater warriors as long as you are unyielding."
"Then I'll continue to meet your expectations." Rean took the Helix stand. "Charizard, Empoleon, let's do this!"
"Raar/Empoleon!" They roared as they take their stand.
"Good. Electivire." Matteus spoked.
"Electivire!" Electivire channeled electricity.
Both Matteus and Electivire dash toward Rean, Charizard and Emopleon, until a Diamond Sword was thrown at them, causing them to have an ! over their heads and a laser beam was fired at Electivire, who jump back in the nick of time.
"Altina?" Rean look up as Altina flew down.
"Are you alright, Insturctor?" Altina asked as she change back.
"I am now. Thanks."
"Heeeeeey!" A voice yelled as Rean see Levi, Juna, Kurt, Venti, Ash and Musse with their Pokemon charging in. "Phew, we made it." Levi said
"Still alive and kickin', huh?" Ash smirked.
"You're all right..." Rean smiled.
"So you defeated Major Rieveldt. I must admit, I'm impressed." Matteus said.
Venti look around. "Wait... where's Kurt. I don't see him here."
Rean close hie eyes with a serious look as he turn to the cliff. "He... fell from the cliff."
They turn to the cliff.
"Wait, what?!" Levi exclaimed
"DOUBLE WHAT?!" Juna yelled
"Triple what?!" Venti asked in shock.
"Please tell me you're joking..." Musse hoped.
"You pullin' our leg? That's a hell of a drop!" Ash exclaimed.
"Kurt!" Juna turn to the cliff.
"Wait, Juna, you're not thinking of Jumping off the cliff are you?" Musse asked in shock.

"He might be hurt, but we have no reason to believe that his life is in danger." Rean said before turning to Matteus. "Right now, we need to focus on the fight at hand. That's what he'd want us to do."
"I mean, you're right, but..." Juna muttered.
"Now that you've been able to regroup, you may actually be able to defeat me and Electivire if you fight as one." Matteus said as Electivire stood by his side. "The click is about to strike three. I cannot imagine you can achieve victory in time."
"Don't underestimate us." Levi glared. "We can still beat you even with those odds."

"Don't... count us out yet!" Kurt's voice yelled as they all have an ! over their heads as they turn to the cliff and see Kurt climb back up.

"Kurt!" Juna sigh of relief. "You're okay!"
"Empo!" Empoleon rush to his side.
"Now THAT's how you make an entrance." Ash smirked.
"Wait, did you climb your way up here?" Venti asked in shock.
"It's quite a feat to climb directly up the cliff." Matteus mused.
"If I had followed the meandering path up the mountain, I never would have made it here in time. Climbing up was my only option." Kurt said.
"Wait, don't you have your Skarmory? You could have fly up instead of climbing." Levi pointed out before notice his hands. "Wait... your hands!"
"Is that blood?!" Juna asked "You can't hold your swords like that! We'll take care of the rest, so just—"
"I appreciate your concern, Juna." Kurt smiled at her. "But I'll be fine. Maybe I should have taken more rock climbing activities back at the campus or the gym. That way, I would have more experience under my belt. And to be honest... I kinda forgot about my Skarmory."

"Ele!" Electivire begin to channel electricity. "ELECTIVIRE!" He roared as he took his stand while Matteus unleash his battle aura.
Rematch - Matteus and Electivire
Rean form a combat link with Levi, Juna form a combat link with Kurt, Altina form a combat link with Venti, and Ash form a combat link with Musse. Rean form a Pokemon Link with Charizard, Levi form a Pokemon link with Baxcalibur, Juna form a Pokemon link with Quaquaval, Kurt form a Pokemon link with Empoleon, Altina form a Pokemon link with Blastoise, Venti form a Pokemon link with Meowscarada, Musse form a Pokemon link with Samurott and Ash form a Pokemon link with Skeledirge.
Levi used Penetrate Hurl toward Matteus and Electivire as they dodged as Rean dash toward Matteus as they swing at each other while Baxcalibur charge and used Dragon Claw. Electivire used his arms as a shield, then counter with a Thunder Punch. Bacalibur block with his hands, grabbed and toss Electivireover him and then throw him away toward Quaquaval who used Liquidation to combo-slash him.
Electivire recovered as Matteus swing to slash Rean away but he block and then parry him, allowing Levi to follow up by dashing forward, swing left and right and then thrust combo, then slash him away. Matteus swing fierce against Levi as he block and swirl. He backflip as Venti firing arrows at him. Matteus deflect them as Altina throw Claiomh Solais at him as a fist, punching him away. Juna dash toward to throw a punch, but Matteus block and then swing at Juna. Juna block then charge her punch and punch the stomach and go fro an uppercut and then kick him away as Kurt dash forward, duel combo slash attack to a follow up, then swing fierce.
Matteus block it and then he and Kurt swing at each other until Ash jump in between them and slam his axe to the ground, causing them to jump back. Ash swing at Matteus. He block it, reverse grip and slash him, but Ash jump over and then slam his sword to the ground as Musse firing homing shots. Ash jump out of the way as the shot hitting Mattus.
"Hmph!" Matteus grunted as he dash toward to Musse but Ash got in front and block the attack.
"Spiral Explosion!" Altina swing her arms as Matteus notice an attack underneath his feet and jump away as Venti aim and released a bow that multiple.
Matteus swing to deflect the bows until Altina charge with Claiomh Solais as a Diamond sword and they seeing at each other. Venti charge in for a flying kick. Matteus block and then push the two latter away as Charizard used Flamethrower on Electivire. Electivire counter with Thunderbolt. Meowscarada snapped his finger for Flower Trick as Flower Bombs raindown on Electivire, dealing critical damage.
"Ele!" Electivire grunted as he look and see Empoleon firing Hydro Pump at him.
Electivire dodge and then punch the ground for Earthquake as the shockwave push back the Pokemon, except Charizard. Charizard throw Fire Blast, but Electivire counter with Thunderbolt. Electivire then dahs toward Charizard with Thunder Punch. Charizard shield himself and was knock away. Electivire unleahs discharge onto the Pokemon team, Samurott taken the hit, then recovered and charge with Mega Horn attack. Electivire grabbed Samurrot and then shock him with Thunderbolt.
Smurott was thrown toward Meowscarada who use Agility to dodge. Skeledirge throw Shadow Ball at Electivire who backhand it with Thunder Punch. Blatoise fired Hydro Pump at Electivire and was push back, and then Meowscarada used Night Slash as a combo move and then kick his face. Baxcalibur fired Ice Beam at Electivire who dodge as a trail of ice was within its wake.
Electivire jump high and then used Earthwake toward them and to Rean's group. Matteus jump ahead of time as Rean and the others jump too. Matteus raised his sword as it glow with electricity and slam the ground, causing a surge of power to travel toward Rean's group. Levi imbued his Glaive with white energy, extended the range and slam down to intercept.
Rean used Arcane Gale to slash Matteus and Electivire and throw a fire slash at them as Charizard throw in Flamethrower on Matteus. Mattues took a stand and then sent out slash projection and lighting slam attack toward Rean's group and the Pokemon while Electivire throw Discharge toward them as it scattered the battlefield.
"Flowe Trick!" Venti yelled as Meowscarada snapped his finger, cause the flower in his hands to disappear and then reappear over Electivire and Matteus, forcing them to jump away.
Juna then firing Energy Bullets toward them as Matteus deflect them. Ash throw his Chain Magic to capture Matteus who has an ! over his head and Ash pull himself toward Matteus and kick his face, knocking him back a bit as Altina swing Claiomh Solais at Electivire who shield himself and counter with Focus Punch. Altina was knock away and then Venti throw Nemesis Arrow onto thee two, hitting them as Musse Throw Crystal Edge.
Matteus unleash battle aura and then extended his sword's range and unleash a powerful swing and slam the ground toward the group. Blastoise used Protect to intercept as Electivire took his stand and dash forward for Giga Impact. Baxcalibur counter by using Glaive Rush. Causing both attacks to cause a powerful shockwave, enough to cover everyone's eyes as Electivire and Baxcalibur were pushed away by their strength.
Kurt swirl his duel blades and imbued them with Snow Magic. His sword extended range and dash toward his Father and the two begin to swing at each other fierce until Matteus unleash a mighty swing to knock Kurt away. Kurt impale the ground to hold his position. Juna aim, charging and firing energy sphere onto Matteus and Electivire. Matteus cut the sphere as it pass through them and leaving a trail of explosion behind him.
Levi sent out slash projections as Matteus slice them. Rean ran up and then he and Matteus swing at each other fierce until used Waning Crescent Slash, dealing damage onto Electivire and Matteus.
"Prepare yourself, Father!" Kurt dash toward and slash through Electivire and Matteus, then warp around, dealing phantom slashes until he jump into the air, letting out a warcry and sent down Black and White Energy Slash, slamming into Electivire and Matteus as the X appeared underneath their feet surfaced, dealing considerable damage.
Matteus and Electivire hold their ground as Kurt landed on his feet. Then Electivire fell on his back with swirling eyes and Matteus fell to his knees.

"Heh... You pass." Matteus gave a smirk of approval.
Kurt panted. "W-We... We did?"
"Woohoo! We did it!" Venti cheered.
"Whew..." Juna panted. "Kurt... Your dad is... too damn strong."
"Him being the head of the Vander school isn't just for show." Altina agreed
"For real. You sure he's not the strongest in the continent?" Ash asked.
"But I'm glad we passed. Even if it did take all of us." Musse smiled.

"They've all grown so much." Rean smiled.
"I see the battle's over." Claire said as she join the group with Vanilluxe and Cryogonal.
"Did you enjoy the show Major?" Levi asked as Baxcalibur and Charizard join their trainers as they high five them while New Class VII pokemon were hugging and celebrating.
"I only saw the fight's conclusion, I'm afraid."Your teamwork during the battle was exceptional."
Matteus got back on his feet as Electivire got back on his feet.
"Electivire..." Electivire sighed.
"You done well, Electivire. Excellent job." Matteus said. "I hope that satisfy you."
"Electivire!" He smiled happily.
Matteus turn to everyone. "You have all proven your worth. You have the strength to aid His Highness the Prince." He said as he takes off.
"Wait, that's it?" Levi raised an eyebrow while Kurt sighed. "I'm guessing that means he'll tell us why we're here. But what does he mean aid the Prince?"
"Good question. I assume you'll tell us, Major?" Rean asked.
"Well, yes. But I'll fill you in on some of the details now. We can tell you the rest back in Ymir." Claire said.
"So it also proves that Venti's guess is correct?" Musse asked.
"Correct. It's a test of your strength and capabilities."
"I'm glad we've passed." Altina sighed.
"Even if it was too close for comfort." Kurt said.
"But why test us in the first place?" Rean asked. "I can't imagine even Principal Aurelia would go this far for an academic exam. Which would mean..."
Claire nodded. "Sharp as ever, Rean. As a matter of fact—"
